What an awesome course! My 12428 always surprises me when on the trail. I packed some putty in both diffs and it turned into a beast. The metal gears upgrade helps too, and I also converted the steering to a bellcrank, which give me some crazy angles in tight spots. Great vid!
Much appreciated my friend for the course compliment, and your excellent comment, Sounds like you've got some work bench, and creativity time logged into your WLtoys,😁 great job my friend,👍 try not to be too tough on the old girl,or you will be working on the transmission next,😕 I smoked the high/low gears in the 10428's transmission,A few minutes after filming this video,😂 lol Best of Luck Brother👍 And many thanks for checking out the video my friend 😎✌
----- Looking for the receipt / pic of the wide track tires. I would say the best and first mod was slotting in the 5200 (hardcase) mah battery. After that it was a matter of suspension , front end linkage mods and the wide track tire set up to handle the power. A real Beast now. Has Crawler chops and super speed. And never flips
Darn it,I forgot to mention that the wheels came from you too,😕 which was huge, many thanks Brother 👊👊 I busted out my WLtoys hydroplane rig the other day as well, just too see if it was my battery or the esc that went bad,and it's definitely the esc the VXL 3s is definitely smoked,it just chatters with absolutely no tire movement, Thanks for the compliments, and for watching Matt 😀👍👍🍻🍻 P.S. the family is doing great, And I Hope all is well with your family Brother 😀
Man Jim I’m in luv with that course, definitely will one day run that track with the K5. Wltoys definitely surprised me with how well it did, I give most of the credit to the driver for that, 😆 great job brotha awesome video 👍😎
😁 much appreciated brother for all the compliments, especially the one about the driver, lol And your always welcome to run the course Brother, even if your driving a Chevy 😁 jk Many Thanks Stevo 😎👍👍
RC After Dark hey I’m a Ford guy but when I was a kid my dad had the same K5 that I built n painted like his, since he’s now passed away I built it in his memory, so that’s why I’ve got the K5 otherwise it would’ve been the Bronco for sure
@@STEVOD313,I was just throwing out some standard ford/chevy banter, my 1st vehicle was a 1977 Blazer, with a 4 bolt main 350,mildly massaged,it had a 3.07 ring & pinions,it was slow up to 50 mph,but was a bat out of hell from 60 mph to about 140 mph lol, but it would blow the header gaskets every time it got above about 120 mph lol, In all reality,I'm not brand bias in any way Brother, And it's super cool that your honoring your dad's memory with the K5 😀 Big thumbs up Brother 😎👍👍
RC After Dark oh I know how it goes when u got a ford guy n a friend who’s a Chevy or a dodge(lol) friend, it’s fun to go back n forth with what the brand name stands for FORD “First On Race Day” or “Found On Road Dead” depending on ur thoughts, but if u were to bash the Chevy it wouldn’t be so funny cus I would totally agree with u n tell u that’s the truth, 😂 one day brotha I gotta make it up there n hangout n crawl the course, my lhs is starting a indoor course n has a crawler group that I’m now a part of, on Facebook the groups r called Anarchy off roaders Detroit rc offroad
It was indeed 😁 The WLtoys vehicles aren't too bad,as long as you don't push them to far beyond their off-road comfort level, lol that's when parts start breaking 😂 The "High/Low transmission gears",stripped out on this rig the day after filming this view, The 2.2 tire/wheel combo was too much stress for the weak WLtoys trans gears,😕 Thanks for your Awesome comment, and much appreciation for checking out the video my friend.😀👍👍
@@R.C.A.D. hello sir, loved your vídeo! Do you think My new 12428-b ( new version metal gears) whould be good with 1.9 wheels?? Maximum 108mm or 110 ... Or even it handle 103mm austar?? I wanna build it to crawl but im affraid it doesnt handle it.. what whould you recomend my brother??? MANY THANKS 🏎️💨
It Will probably arrive tomorrow i cant wait anymore ahahah. Btw its a 1/12 scale, not the 1/10. You think i should keep original wheels? I rly want it to be reliable, should i just remove the foam to BE more gripy or iam fine buying a 1.9 wheels( its another beast) thank you again m8
I really don't know what to tell you my friend,😕 the only thing that I had remotely close to the 12428, was my brothers Fayio Fy06,🤔 it's like a 12428 6×6, which wltoys also produces, it's just like the Fayio Fy06,except it comes with a brushed motor, Although I can't remember what it's label name is,🤔 it maybe 12628, Anyways,😁 they all share the same Drive Train for the most part, except the 6×6's have a extra rear axle,😕 otherwise pretty much the same parts between them all,🤔 and I would have to say that all of my experiences with the building the Fy06, have turned out pretty much Useless,😕 ultimately you just can't gear the transmission low enough to handle larger tires, and the axles are another story,😕 Personally speaking, I wouldn't put any extra money into the 12428,🤔 Maybe just take out the tire foam's for the moment, and enjoy the buggy for what it is,🙂👍 And if it turns out that you really enjoy the hobby of RC's, You can beg your parents for something better,as a Christmas or birthday gift,😁👍👍 I would recommend googling "Amain Hobbies" and check out the crawler's that they have to offer,🙂 They are all Hobby grade Vehicle's,and they all have tons of high quality upgradeable parts available for them,🙂 Very strong parts! Compared to a wltoys or Fayio,🤔😕 I know that my advice isn't what you want to hear, But ultimately speaking, You will be really disappointed if you dump a bunch of money into the wltoys,😢 I've been there personally, and can honestly say that it's not worth it,🤔😕 Enjoy your new buggy for what it is my friend,🙂 And much appreciation for taking the time to check out the video.😎👍👍
@@R.C.A.D. thank you for your feedback! i mosly share the same opinion too!!will only do the upgrades that are worth doing like shock oil, motor heasink, silicone earplugs for locking the thing, extras 2s 1500mah "original like", aluminium servo saver, 0.9mm extenders.. i havent received it yet im tripinnnn ahahahah... the good part is all this costed less over 10€ ... shock oil i ordered one 10wt and costed 8.16€ thats the worst part ahahah.. more 4 wheels more almost 20€... thats all i see i will do to the car.. more 5 or 10€ if needed and its good for having fun more realibily and the mechanic part of the rc is not too hard so its perfect for fun and shell queen ahahah,. THANK YOU MY FRIEND :)
Thank you Tony, the course has been a summer long project, and it's still not finished lol, I have a couple more obstacles too add for icing on the cake,I'm currently trying to scrape together the materials 😁 Thanks again for the excellent comment, and for watching my friend 😀👍👍
Thanks man 😁👍 This was filmed during it's early stages, the RC Adventure Park has grown significantly since then, and now takes up about a half acre of property, and it's still growing... One day I may open it up to the public, but for right now it's only open to friends, and channel subscribers.😁 As for your Axial Capra; It would probably do well "depending on track conditions" I periodically retune the adventure course according to vehicle abilities, "sometimes the dirt sections can get pretty darn extreme, going in-between the other Rock obstacles.😆 It can be Down right Gnarly at times! 😁 The last couple of videos I filmed out here are exactly that, "pretty gnarly" those videos are featuring our Trx4 Broncos with the Long Arm Lift kit installed and comparisons between different vehicles, and different size tires, the last video I filmed was a few days ago, and hasn't been posted just yet, but that one is my lifted bronco with deep lug paddle tracks vs my brothers bronco, with 2.2 Proline Interco TSL SX Super Swampers,🤔 Pretty interesting run,😊 That video will most likely get uploaded tomorrow or possibly Thursday.😁 Thanks for your Outstanding Compliment, and many more thanks for taking the time to check out the video.😊🙏👉🏆
After seeing this video for the first time two years back I got into the hobby with a WL Toys Across, your videos prompted me. After doing a few upgrades I realized I would be better off with a hobby grade truck so I picked up a Capra. My addiction continues to grow so I ordered a Redcat Gen8 for my son.
@sreissing That's Awesome 😁👍 Way to go Bro.. It's difficult to tell people that the Wltoys isn't exactly a "Hobby Grade" vehicle, and that they would be better off with something of higher quality, But I'm glad that you figured it out.😄 The Wltoys are great as a starter vehicle "there's no doubt about it, but their not exactly built for the long haul, They can be transformed into a very solid vehicle with a whole lot of money and a whole lot of Vaterra Twin Hammers parts, but that's getting to be difficult to do these days, since Vaterra is no longer in business, and the Twin Hammers parts are becoming few & far between.🙄 This Wltoys has been converted since this video, and is now dubbed the "Wltoys Green Hammer" in all of its featured videos, But it wasn't cheap to do,😕 I can't remember off the top of my head, but I think that we put about $300.00 or more into it with Vaterra Parts, "Thirty some Vaterra part bags in total, in order to make it a Rock Solid RC. Anyways.... I do have some videos on that process "if you ever feel the need to check them out.😄 Lol Otherwise.... Very Cool to hear about your Capra and the upcoming future Gen 8. 😁👍 Thanks for sharing Brother, and I wish you all the best my friend.😊
TC 5:03-- The 2C 5200 mah upgrade (hardcase) makes it a better crawler as well with the extra power and weight. Looking forward to seeing your vid with the wide trac tires as well.
Hmm! To be completely honest Michael,I won't be doing any wide trac tire upgrades too my WLtoys, The trans gears stripped out a few hours after filming this video, and it has been down ever since,Unfortunately, like most people,I only have so much money too throw around,And investing large sums of money, into the non hobby grade wltoys,is not exactly my first RC priority,😕 My ideas of upgrading may slightly differ from the general RC consumer,😕 Personally I would upgrade the "Entire Drive Train" Trans gears,Diff's,the whole 9 yards, That way the vehicles drive train is at least somewhat bulletproof, and will most likely out last the vehicle itself, Next I would rip out the WLtoys electronics, and Replace it with A hobby grade Radio,Receiver,Esc,and most importantly stronger servos, The aftermarket Esc and servos make a gigantic difference with overall drive ability,Huge difference,Night & Day! 😊👍 And after doing some Cash Math,The grand total for all of the said upgrades, are in the neighborhood of $400.00 U.S. dollars,😨 yep! Which is also very close to the base price of many 1/10 scale Hobby Grade 4x4 Trail truck's & Crawlers,😕 And there's A lot of choices! Back to the WLtoys,If I were too invest the 400 bucks into the wltoys,at the end of the day after the upgrades are done, the vehicle,is still Less of a vehicle, compared too the Vaterra Twin Hammers,Which could have been purchased to begin with in lieu of the WLtoys, for less than 400 bucks,😕 Currently; I have One WLtoys 10428 that has been fully converted,As well as installing a Traxxas VXL 3s Valineon brushless system,3600kv brushless motor & Esc,A Spektrum radio & receiver,A Savox sw0231mg steering servo,Mip steel drive shafts,Proline 2.8 Sand Paw paddle tires, and a bunch of life jacket foam,All for a grand total of around $1,300.00 us dollars, and got an Insane! Amphibious 4x4 Hydroplane truck, that can not only hydroplane water,But it can also Float! And if needed,it's also able too paddle it's way back too shore,😊😂 And I also still have the Blue Vaterra Twin Hammers seen in this video, which has been problem free for the entire three plus years that I've owned it,😊👍 Moral of the story;I have one 1,300 dollar WLtoys hydroplane truck, and a complete & working Twin hammers,😕 So at this point in time I don't necessarily need another one,or would rather invest the money needed too repair The green 10428 into something Different,or at least something Hobby Grade! 😕 I don't know how well you have checked out my channel content, but I did a Vaterra Twin Hammers build about 3 years ago,and also a complete side by side, part for part comparison with the WLtoys 10428a while building the Vaterra Twin Hammers,And I also voice a lot of opinions on the WLtoys at the same time, which could ultimately be heartbreaking for you too see,😞 I initially bought my 10428a in lieu of the T.H. because it was much cheaper by comparison,And mainly also due too other people's RUclips videos depicting the WLtoys as the Exact Same as the T.H.,"in Build quality" and "Reliability", but for a much lower price,And that was a Downright Lie! The T.H. is far Superior, from it's heavy duty Steel drive train, too it's completely different composit plastic,😕 After initially blowing out the drive train on my 10428a,I spent the money and upgraded it with T.H. running gear, and aftermarket electronics,And soon after that, after being extremely disillusioned by the wl RUclips vids,I decided too purchase a Vaterra T.H.,and find out the differences personally,😊and I also vowed never too by another wltoys product,😕 The green WLtoys 10428 originally belonged to a friend of mine,he bought ot shortly after I got my 10428a,And he was also not really into RC's, About two years ago,I moved from lower Michigan, too northern Michigan, and before I moved,I made my friend a monetary offer for all of his RC's,One vintage Traxxas E-maxx,One Hpi Sprint force 2 4x4 drift car,One P.o.s. boat that I scrapped,A huge box of parts, batteries, and chargers,And the WLtoys green WL 10428,and I bought the entire lot for 400 buck's,😕 so technically it came with everything else, and I didn't consider it as outright buying a WLtoys,😂 lol That thing has actually been in quite a few videos over the last three years,it actually had a Green Jeep Wrangler body on it for a couple of years,I actually removed the jeep body and put the stock plastic back on the wl a few weeks before filming this video,😊 Anyways again lol not too burst your bubble, but my WLtoys will most likely be down for awhile,😲 I do Sincerely appreciate your great comments, and for checking out my channel,But WLtoys RC's are not in my future, money is better spent elsewhere!,And I sincerely wish you all the best of luck with your WLtoys Brother,😊 I just figured that I would be better off telling you about my true WLtoys fealings,vs blowing smoke up your backside about WLtoys products, like the majority of other RUclips channels would.😕 I pride myself on being honest, and not steering others in the wrong direction,Hence my somewhat brutal honesty towards WLtoy products,😕 Don't get me wrong,I'm not trying to steer you away from my channel,But rather steer you away from the WL and maybe towards a quality hobby grade vehicle instead, Hopefully you aren't too upset & can maybe understand how difficult it was for me too type this out, knowing that you weren't going to like what I had too say about WLtoys, 😕 it can be tuff sometimes for me too explain it too people, without totally destroying there feelings, that there WLtoys is gonna let them down in a big way before too long,And the only way too really make it reliable, is too invest around 400 buck's in aftermarket parts, And for that price you could either just upgrade too a hobby grade rig,or just buy 3 more wl 10428's,and use the broken one's for parts,😕 Either way,WLtoys are a waste of money,😞 Sorry for the tuff pill Michael, If you decide too leave my channel because of it,I would totally understand, even though ultimately I'm trying too help you,by not wasting any more money on the wl, I mean for 300 buck's you could get a RedCat Gen 8,and it's 10x the vehicle compared too the WL,Check out Amain hobbies online store, and look at the Crawlers that are available, and leave eBay & Bangood, out of your RC shopping criteria 😊👍 Hopefully you get the gest of what I'm saying 😕 and Hopefully you don't unsubscribe my channel, As I will be Giving Away Two 1/10 scale, hobby grade, rtr trail trucks at the 2,500 sub mark, and that could be a chance for a totally free hobby grade RC,😊 Sorry for the tuff meat Brother, and once again I hope that you can appreciate my honesty in this matter. 😕😎👍👍
i just bought this but i got the 1/10 and it will be my first rc and after watching this video im toooottally making a ob coarse like this, this is awesome ,,,i did not even think of this
This is also the 1/10 version 👍👍 "Wltoys 10428" the "10" stand's for 1/10 scale,👍 If it was a 12428, then it would be the 1/12 scale version,🙂 So basically, we have the same vehicle 😄👍👍 Thanks for your Awesome Compliment, and for taking the time to check out the video my friend,😎👍 And I wish you all the Best on building a adventure course of you're own Max.🙂👍👍
@@R.C.A.D. awww hellz yea man you know it! :), i already want to upgrade the battery after watching several vids on this thing, plus i just want some extra batteries to swap out when im out and about using this thing i can just change batteries on the spot and keep going, i was wondering if you had any suggestions on battery upgrades? (without frying anything offcourse xD),,i seen a few vids of people upgrading the batteries but it was on the 12th scale models so im assuming this ones battery capacity may be different,,,also 2 months for shipping on this thing i hope it will come sooner haha, it was just "dissinfected" apparently lol thats a new one :), alls ik is by the time its gets here to the states i should have one hell of a course by then :D
Hmm batteries, They don't make the one that I run anymore, it's a Duratrax Onyx 5700 mAh 45c 7.4v 2s lipo soft pack battery, with a Dean's or "T style" connector, and it fits in there pretty darn good,🤔 I think that I even did a video about it Back in the day, probably in one of my early wltoys 10428a, or Twin Hammer's videos, I run the same type of battery in both vehicles, And my truck will run for over Two hours Easy,😁 Never had it even hit the low voltage cutoff,🤔😁
@@R.C.A.D. ok awesome thanks a bunch for the tip man ill make a search for any brand with those specs and the connector, appreciate it! ill look up that vid too.I think for my next rc im going to go for a monster 6th scale perhaps as well haha, i want a beasty :D
@@R.C.A.D. ok so i found a "ZOP Power 7.4V 5000mAh 45C 2S Lipo Battery T Plug for 1/10 RC Racing Car" or a "ZOP Power 7.4V 6000mAh 45C 2S Lipo Battery T Plug for HPI 1/8 RC Car" but not sure how the ladder will fit but these are similar to your specs, also i see a "ZOP Power 7.4V 4000mAh 45C 2S Lipo Battery T Plug for RC Car" in the listings but the first one definitely seems like my best bet.thanks again dude.also there is a promo for these models right now buy 3 get 10% off so i may just do that,,ill have the juice to run this badboy all day lol
Sure it will fit, But they Will make quick work of you're Transmission Gear's, ☹️ A stock 10428 can't handle those tires for more than a hour or two, So I imagine that the 12428 would be toast in a matter of minutes.🤔😕 I wouldn't recommend it. Thanks for your Great Question, and for checking out the video Ewin.😊👍
It was surprising to see how much better the buggy did with bigger tires, climbing the teeter totter in rear wheel drive blu my mind 😮 It definitely impressed me,especially with a open front differential,it was much better than it's previous attempts, Thanks for the Great compliment's,and for watching Bill 😁👊👊🍻
Sure Nico,😊👍 "Open Differential" vs "A Locked Differential" The internal mechanic's are tough to explain, but here is a simplified answer that's easier to understand,😊 "Locked Differential" means that the axle is more, or less, solid across the board, because the Differential is Mechanically Locked, "meaning that both tire are spinning no matter what" And a "Open Differential" is not solid, it has a Actual Differential, between both the left & right axle shaft, And it will shift the power output, from one side to the other, depending on which tire is getting the least amount of traction, and the tire with the least amount of traction, or least amount of drag, is the one that will get the power,🤔 which means that if you have one tire in the air, and one tire on the ground, the tire that is in the air, is the tire that will get all the power, and the tire that is one the ground, will essentially have absolutely no power, like being in neutral,😕 not spinning! One Wheel Peel! Or a Peg Leg! Like when you see someone in the Real world, who's doing a burnout in there Car,🤔 if they leave Two strips of rubber on the ground, that means that they either have a Locked Differential, or a Limited Slip Differential, But if they only leave One strip of rubber on the ground, Then it means, that they have a Open Differential,😕👎 which is not preferred by most people who know better, And is also what the majority of full size production Vehicle's are equipped with,😕 Nobody likes a One wheel peel, it's not very impressive on the street, and even less than impressive Off-road 🤔 Most Off-road enthusiasts prefer either "locked diffs", "lockable diffs", or a very good Limited Slip Differential,😊👍 Open Differential = One wheel peel, the tire with the least Resistance, is the tire that Receives the power,😭 And it's a Real Bummer! ☹️ Hopefully this was a easy to understand explanation,😊 For more information, I would suggest Googling, what the difference is between a Open Differential, and a Locked Differential,😊👍 Thanks for your Awesome Question Nico,😊👍👍 And many more for checking out the video my friend.😁🤜🤛
@@R.C.A.D. Hey!!! That was quite an answer! Sweet. ;) I was not expecting such a detailed reply with all those explainations. It may also help others. Thank you! :)
Hi there im new to the rc hobby and just ordered this model but I know some parts may broke after some times of bad use but I take really good care of my things and Im asking you if crowling slowlly like that may preserve the parts longer then bashing full trottle over bumps at full speed haha
Welcome too the RC hobby my friend 😀👍 WLtoys in all reality, are a very good introductory RC,They are pretty close to hobby grade vehicles in offroad performance, and far superior too lesser vehicles in the same price range, like New Bright, and if you ordered a "1/10 scale" WLtoys 10428 model, and not a 12428 which is 1/12 scale, then your in luck, because the Vaterra Twin Hammers Heavy Duty steel transmission gears, and front differential will drop right into the WLtoys trans, and diff case,😁👍 But that whole process can get kinda pricey, and your almost better off buying a hobby grade vehicle at that point, especially if you're enjoying the hobby, As for what kind of driving will do the least amount of damage between crawling & bashing;well that's debatable, lol The WLtoys 10428's are relatively tough when it comes to a general beating, the plastic is like a Rubbermaid garbage can,"super flexible"so most of those parts well hold up too whatever you throw at it,the drive train is the real weak spot,"Mainly the high/low trans gears, and the entire front drive train",A high speed pass over cobble stone would ultimately be less detrimental then having the rig bound up while crawling between the rocks,😕 Rolling over rough terrain, with the drive train rolling in a free state,is easier on the vehicle then the extreme torque that's being applied too the drive train, while trying too slowly spin the tires up,and over obstacles,😕 so in the end it's debatable as too which is more detrimental,😂 lol Unfortunately some parts will most likely start too fail almost immediately, and that is due too WLtoys, the first thing you will notice will be squeaky bearings, second will be the plastic wheel hexes, and third is the shift servo, the one in my 10428a quit working on the second day,and the shift servo on the one in the video lasted about two weeks,😕 and no other manufacturers servos jive with WLtoys,so if you want to upgrade your servos, you will have to replace everything, all of the electronics, including the transmitter,Chaa Ching$$$$ All I can really suggest is to drive it sensibly, don't be afraid to have fun,but at the same time keep a careful eye on your drive train while crawling, and know when to say when, when it comes to torquing the drive line,😕 nothing ruins a fun time like hearing the crunch of breaking drive train parts,😭 I sincerely wish you all the best my Brother, many thanks for your great comment, and for checking out the video,😎👊👊 and another Big Welcome to the RC hobby my friend 😀👍👍
Well unfortunately that lift is from Torque Twist, and there's not much that you can do about,🤔😕 But there is a way to shave it down a little,🤏 And that is by adding a set of Vaterra Twin Hammer's Sway bars front and rear,🤔 The Wltoys 10428 is basically a Clone of the Twin Hammer's, and the Wltoys 10428 is equipped with the same "Sway bar mounts" molded into the chassis,👍 The only problem, is going to be getting your hands on the Vaterra Twin Hammer's Sway bars, along with all of the mounting hardware that goes along with them,😕 The problem is that Vaterra stopped production on the Twin Hammer's back in 2012, and they are completely out of business today,🤔😭 which is very sad 😢 And also the reason that it's going to be Tuff to get your hands on a set of Vaterra Twin Hammer's Sway bars, 😕 "Part's availability" is very few and far between these days.😭 Thanks for your great question, and for checking out the video Reese 😊👍
That course is rad! I too dabble in the cheap knock off crawlers. I have the mn99s and I will say I've got my 50 bucks worth out of it and after a few mods it's surprisingly capable. However, I can see what you mean by the knock offs costing more in the long run. I've upgraded to metal drive shafts after the plastic ones snapped, but I know something else is gonna brake now, that was just the weakest link. Anyways, awesome video. Definitely gonna subscribe.
Hmm! 😕 I like your style my friend,Obviously you had paid attention to the video, and also took the time to read some of the comments,🙂👍 I'm kinda blown away by it,🤯 The majority of viewers breeze through the videos, missing important things that I may have said, And then leave a comment, without reading any of the previous comments,Which possibly could have answered there question, without having to leave a comment,😕 "It's just a general lack of common sense, really" 🙄 But you Sir have surprised me,Kinda made my night! I'm very impressed,🙂👍 And the fact that you already know, that the next weakest link is at risk after upgrading the drive shafts, is also Good to hear,😃👍 No lectures required!😂 Thanks for your Awesome Track compliments, and Downright Outstanding comment Alex, Have a great night Brother,😎👊👊👍👍
@@R.C.A.D. Thanks man. I am pretty observant when it comes to rc. I have been out of the hobby for years, but recently got back into it after a back injury. I'm pretty amazed at how far the hobby has come. Do you have any experience with the RGT crawlers? I want something 1/10 and half way decent but can't afford the big name brands. I've heard some good things about them. I've also heard the Remo Hobby crawler is built off the same exact blueprint as the axial honcho. Unsure which way to go, but it's gotta be cheap and upgrade compatibility is a must.
Well I can honestly say that none of the Cloned vehicles are built off of the exact same blueprint of the originals,🤔 especially when it comes to the quality of the parts themselves,😕 I was told the same thing about the wltoys,Someone on RUclips had a video doing a side by side Comparison with the Twin Hammer's,and the 10428, And he had said that they were Exactly the same,He even went as far to say, that he did a chemical tests on the plastic, and that there was no difference between the two,🤔 And that the wltoys, was the exact same vehicle, but for a lower price,😕 All Lie's! Absolutely nothing was true, about what he was saying,Nothing! I did my own side by side Comparison,"From the ground up" and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see the obvious differences, between the two vehicles,🤔 it's plane as day,That the plastic is different, Vaterra has much more fibere'es material in the plastic, and it's much stronger than the wltoys plastic,And the difference between the type of steel that's used in the gears is staggering, Vaterra uses hardend steel, and wltoys is using some kind of pop metal, And it's pretty much the same with all of the Rest of the Cloned vehicles,😕 That is why they are Significantly cheaper to purchase, then purchasing the Real Deal,🤔 The clones start out cost effective,But they more than make up for it in repairs, and will ultimately cost you more money bin the long run, than buying something of quality to begin with,🤔 Just save your money for awhile,"there's no hurry" And who knows what other new vehicles may be released in the process of saving money,😕 Ultimately it's your decision my friend! But personally speaking, I wouldn't waste anymore money on Cloned vehicles, Don't believe the Clone Hipe! It is all lies! 🤔 Save your money for something that will actually last my friend, and you will be Much more Happier with your purchase decision 😉👍 Save your loot $ Brother! It's totally worth it! 🙂✌️
@@R.C.A.D. Thanks for the opinions man, really appreciate it. I'm also rounding up parts and building a crawler from scratch. I'm just being impatient I guess hahaha.
What's up Matthias 😊👍 And Many Thanks for your Awesome Compliments Cousin 😁🙏 As for the Wltoys 10428; It comes with a 2 speed transmission, and in this video, I had it "mechanically locked" into low range, that way it couldn't "accidentally" jump into high range,🤔😕 I do that with all of my "Vaterra Twin Hammer's" Type vehicles, which is what the Wltoys 10428 is based on, the Wltoys 10428 is a Clone of the Vaterra Twin Hammer's, Which unfortunately is no longer available for purchase,🤔😒 Vaterra quit production on the Twin Hammer's back in like 2012, and then they went out of business all together in like 2019,😭 which is a Total Bummer! Because Vaterra Twin Hammer's part's are the only way to make a Wltoys 10428 bullet proof, otherwise the Wltoys 10428 is reduced to a cheap off the shelf Toy Grade RC vehicle,😒 where as the Vaterra Twin Hammer's is a "Rock Solid" Hobby Grade RC vehicle, "Toy Grade vs Hobby Grade" And as far as this Wltoys 10428 is concerned,🤔 it blew it's transmission about 45 minutes after this video,😭 the Rc4wd 2.2" Mud Slinger tires proved to be Too much rotating mass! Which resulted in completely stripping out the the Plastic Transmission Gear's,😒 Too much Rotating mass! Anyways... It's been a few years since that had happened, and this vehicle has been completely Revamped since then,😕 It's currently more Vaterra Twin Hammer's then it is wltoys,🤔 as a matter of fact... the only thing that is still wltoys, Is the Body, the Main chassis, and the Front & Rear shocks,🤔 Everything else, and I do mean Everything! is Vaterra Twin Hammer's part's,🤔 Twin Hammer's Transmission Case, Front diff housing, Rear Axle housing, Front Control arm's, Uprights and End link's, Heavy Duty Hardened Steel Transmission Gear's, Heavy Duty Hardened Steel Front Out-drive cups, Cvd shaft's, and Wheel spindles, Heavy Duty Hardened Steel Front & Rear "Helical Cut" Ring & Pinion Gear's with a Heavy Duty Hardened Steel Diff locker's, Heavy Duty Hardened Steel Rear Axle shafts, Along with Axial AE5 ESC, a Spektrum 5 channel receiver, A Savox sw0231mg waterproof steering servo,(no shift servo, the Trans is mechanically locked into low range) Running custom LED lights throughout the body, with a Rc4wd wired winch controller as a light switch,😆 lol a Rc4wd 27t brushed motor, with a 23t 48p pinion gear, and a Team Losi Kevlar 78t 48p Spur Gear on the Transmission, (Fyi the Team Losi Kevlar Spur Gear's that I'm using range in several different sizes, and they will also fit on a stock wltoys transmission) note; those Kevlar Spur Gear's are almost stronger than a Steel Spur Gear, except that the are much quieter than a Steel Spur Gear, And they are Way way.... Stronger than the stock wltoys plastic spur gear,😁👍 Which you wouldn't necessarily have to worry about unless you tried to install a Brushless motor motor into a stock wltoys 10428,🤔😕 Which you wouldn't necessarily want to do with a stock wltoys 10428 to begin with, since a brushless motor would most likely Churn All of the Stock Gear's into Butter 🧈 😂 lol Don't do that! 😆👌 And then we topped everything off with a set of Green Aluminum Boom Racing Sandstorm Krait 1.9 Beadlock wheels, with a set of Rc4wd 1.9 Interco Irok tires.😁👍 It's currently dubbed as the "Wltoys Green Hammer" in my video library, and it also belongs to my older brother, I gave him the vehicle, and then I Built it into it's "current bullet proof status" as a Birthday gift for him. 😁👍 Fyi... I did that build a few years ago, which was shortly after Vaterra went completely out of business,🤔😕 this is difficult to explain but please bear with me,😕 Vaterra quit production on the Twin Hammer's back in 2012, Then they went completely out of business in 2019,🤔 What I'm trying to say is that the All of the Vaterra part's that are required to do a "bullet proof build" on a Wltoys 10428 are no longer available,😕😭 I built my first bullet proof 10428 back in 2016, and at that time the Vaterra Twin Hammer's part's where everywhere online, and you could even get a Full Vaterra Twin Hammer's Kit if you wanted to,😕 And then I Built "this" Wltoys 10428 back in like June of 2019 or 2020 can't remember off the top of my head, but the moral of the story is that I had one Hell of a time trying to find all of the Required parts for the Conversion,🤔😕 the most difficult part's to find where the front King pins for the front Uprights, which is required if you want to run the Vaterra Twin Hammer's H.D. front CVD shafts, you see the Wltoys has slightly longer front control arms, and slightly longer front suspension travel,vs the Twin Hammer's, so if you want to do the "full conversion" then you will need to swap out the front control arms and other related components to go along with it,🤔😕 and those front King pins are almost impossible to find,at least they were when I built this thing a few years ago, so I would imagine by now in 2022 that it would be Completely impossible to find all of the required parts to do a "Full bullet proof conversion" 😕 Now that being said.. there is still a few lingering Twin Hammer's part's that are still available,🤔 which consists of the Front/Rear Diff Gear's, Transmission Gear's, Rear axle shafts,Front Out-drive cups, and all of the plastic housing's,😕 along with the Team Losi Kevlar Spur Gear's, "Team Losi is still currently in business" But the Vaterra Twin Hammer's front CVD shafts, Lower Front control arms, Uprights and King pins are going to be Difficult to Totally impossible to get ahold of.😭😕 Grand total on a Complete "Bullet Proof" build, such as the one I did for this vehicle, is pretty darn expensive,🤔 Figure the initial vehicle price, and then another $300.00 - $450.00 us dollars on top of the initial vehicle price for all of the required items.😕 At the end of the day.. it's much more Cost Effective in the long run, to forget about a Wltoys 10428 all together, and to purchase a "Hobby Grade" RC vehicle to begin with,😁👍 it may cost a few more dollars to purchase in the beginning, But it will cost you Far.... Less in the future,😁 meaning that it will last much longer than a Wltoys product,😄👍 I'm not being sponsored by anyone or anything, But I would suggest Googling "Amain Hobbies" and looking at there Gigantic"Hobby Grade" RC inventory before you decide to purchase a Wltoys product.😁👍 Why am I telling you all of this information you ask ? Well. I know that you didn't ask about all this info, But since my last name is also "Campbell" I decided to go the extra step for you Brother.😄👍🤜🤛 Thanks again for your great question Matthias,😊🙏 and many more thanks for checking out the video. 😊🤜🤛 Sincerely; James Campbell of RC After Dark 2/16/22 2:56am eastern standard time.
Congratulations on your purchase my friend 😎👍 And yes the tires do rub up front, but only at full turn, and it's not terrible,I feel as though the little bit of rub is worth it for the difference in performance, Thanks for the Great question, and thanks for watching my friend 😀👊👊
Nice! The wltoys did better than I thought it was going to do. By the way, if I said I wasn't just a little bit jealous(in a good way) of your course I'd be lying through my teeth!
The taller tires definitely helped it through the course, I personally couldn't believe it climbed the teeter totter, "especially since it was two wheel drive at that point" I'll be totally honest my Bronco only makes it up about 70% of the time, with all the diff's locked, otherwise it just sits at the bottom, and spins it's tires, which is mainly do to it's tires,my brothers Bronco makes it up every time, but it's sporting proline 1.9 XL super swampers,I have to say that those Rc4wd Mud Slingers are some of my all-time favorite tires, they seem to perform well in just about every terrain situation, and they have a soft compound too boot, that and they are also some of the smallest 2.2's that you can find,"only being 4.88 inches in outer diameter" they are about a 1/4 of an inch taller then the 1.9xl Swampers, which makes them a feasible 1.9 alternative without worrying about having too much tire to stuff under the fenders, and they are also extremely cost-effective usually less than $25.00 us dollars for a set of two, And I'm rambling again lol Thanks again Brother for the Awesome course compliments, and for watching my friend 😀
Very cool video bro, thanks for sharing. Do you have a link for where you bought the tires & rims for the 10428? Were they a set or did you buy tires & wheels separate? If RUclips won't let you send the link, just put it in the description of the video! Thanks bro, thumbs up!!!
Very much appreciated my friend,The wheels were purchased from Nankin hobbies in Farmington Hills Mi,they have a web store as well, and The tires were purchased from Rc4wd.com. But I sincerely do not recommend running 2.2 tires on your WLtoys,"and I've told this to many people",The WLtoys drive train Can Not Handle the extra rotating mass of the bigger tires, and it won't take long before you start experiencing parts failures, The first to go will be the plastic wheel hexes,if replaced with aluminum hexes, the next item will be the hex pins, then the front cvd pins, then the front outdrive cups, then the high/low gears in the transmission, The point is,that it's going to start falling apart in a big way, and for the price that it will cost you to upgrade everything,is almost equal to buying a brand new Vaterra Twin Hammers, which is a far superior vehicle to the WLtoys,😕 The WLtoys will last much longer,if you don't put anything larger than a 1.9 tire on it, Many thanks for the Great comment, and for checking the video,I wish you all the Best with your rig Brother.😎👊👊👍👍
Thank you for the quick reply. Will take all of your advice as I'm a newbie when it comes to r/c cars & trucks and still learning. Thanks for the good job!!!
My pleasure Brother, that's the bad part about posting this video,I've been discouraging all kinds of people from putting 2.2's on their 10428's ever since,😕 I stripped out my transmission gears the next day on that rig,and I was just goofing around on a sand hill with it,not beating it up either, was just climbing the hill,The combination of the deep sand, and the larger tires, was too much torque for the WLtoys trans gears, Good luck once again my friend, and feel free to ask as many questions as you want,I'm always more than happy too help if I'm able.😀👍
This is a wltoys "10428" Which is 1/10 scale, the "12428" is 1/12 scale, And other than the tires, this "10428" is completely stock! Thanks for checking out the video Stacy 🙂
It had a open front Differential in this video,👍 As for locking the front Differential; Well to be totally honest, in order for it to be a half way decent Crawler, they really should have the front Differential locked, The only problem with that, is that the wltoys can't really handle having the front Differential locked, And it will start a chain reaction of drive train destruction,🤔 if you're not very careful about crawling with it, Meaning that it's kind of a Fragile Crawler, Unless you go with a Full steal drive train on all of the Internal gears, and front cvd's, I used to recommend that Wltoys people do a full Vaterra Twin Hammer's drive train upgrade, But unfortunately the Twin Hammer's has been discontinued for a few years now, And it's Heavy Duty steal drive train parts, are becoming very hard to find,🤔 I just finished doing the conversion to this wltoys yesterday, Full Vaterra Twin Hammer's conversion,😊 and it was to the tune, of about $300.00+ US dollars,🤔 Which is roughly double the price of a stock wltoys 10428,🙄😕 so it's not exactly a cheap conversion, But the difference after the upgrades, is Night & Day, Darn near bulletproof,🤔 And although you didn't ask, the one upgrade that I don't recommend is, Adding any kind of aluminum suspension link upgrades, that you see everywhere online,🤔 it's not needed, the stock wltoys axle links, and suspension components, are very tuff, And something else to keep in mind about aluminum upgrades, is that Aluminum doesn't slide over Rock's as well as Plastic does,😊👍 Plastic slides over Rock, And Aluminum grabs rock like it was Velcro,🤔 total waste of money, unless you are building a shelf queen, Now when it comes to Wltoys Manufacturer parts; There is some Wltoys part's websites that do sell Full steal transmission Gear's, and some other upgrade parts, So there is some Wltoys part's that you can find to upgrade the drive train, But the only real way to make it Tuff as Nails, is with a full Vaterra Twin Hammer's conversion,🙄 Now there is some stuff that you can do to your front Differential to make it better, without actually locking the Differential,🤔 And that's to add some 1 million WT or 1.5 million WT Differential oil, to the inside of the front Differential "diff cup" the extremely thick viscosity of the heavy oil has a benefit of slowing down the Differential from wanting to shift the power from one wheel to the other, and essentially acts like a Limited Slip Differential,🤔 Which is much Friendlier on the front drive train, and the wltoys will last much longer, vs straight locking the front Differential,🤔 And the only way to make it air quotations "bulletproof" Is with a full Vaterra Twin Hammer's conversion,🙄 Which requires 21 different Vaterra Twin Hammer's part bags to complete,🤔😕 And once again those parts are getting very difficult to find, I actually had to get some of the parts from eBay, to finish up this vehicle, Most of the parts can be ordered through Amain Hobbies website, But the front cvd's, and some other parts needed to be found elsewhere, And those front cvd's are one of the most important things to upgrade,🤔😕 If you really want your wltoys to last, then you should probably leave it in stock form,🙄 Once you start upgrading individual parts, other parts will start to fail, until either you upgrade everything, or through in the towel,🤔 Which is why I used to recommend the Vaterra conversion, Because wltoys doesn't make all the parts that you are going to need in order to properly upgrade the vehicle to bulletproof status,🤔😕😊👍 Hopefully my rambling was helpful, and thanks for checking out the video my friend.😎👍👍
I just bought one of these but has a 2-3 second delay going from forward to reverse. If i go forward then push trigger to reverse it stalls then i have to pump the trigger again to reverse .. is this normal? Cheers
Yep 😕 That's exactly how the wltoys stock ESC works, It's a bit of a bummer,☹️ But at least it's got a engine break on it,😁👍 better than nothing, and it's not bad after you get used to it,😕 I have replaced my stock Electronics with a hobby grade system, And ultimately, it's probably one of the best Upgrades that you can do to it,😁 I'm running a Spektrum radio, Spektrum Receiver, Axial AE5 esc, with a Savox sw 0231mg steering servo, I also eliminated the shift servo, and manually locked the transmission into low range using Zip ties. 😂👍 But the ESC and stronger steering servo make a Huge difference, 😁👍 If you get to the point where your servos quit working, I highly recommend swapping out all of the Electronics at that point.😊 Thanks for your great question, and for taking the time to check out the video Jake.😊👍🤜🤛
A 540 will get the job done, but a 550 would also fit, But you need to be careful, the stock Transmission Gear's may prematurely strip out from the extra torque,🤔 possibly the same thing with the Spur gear too,🙄😕
Many Thanks for your Awesome Compliment Brother,😁👍 As for your question;hmm I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to ask, When I'm on the Crawler course,I'm just creeping, barely giving it any throttle, just enough to keep forward momentum. As for the vehicles top speed; It has a two speed transmission,In high gear,on flat ground,it would probably top out at about 20 too 25 mph,😕 Hopefully the info was helpful, Thanks again for your great questions, and compliment, And much appreciation for checking out the video my friend.😀😎👍👍
Thanks for the information but i mean how much trim speed do you give it i mean that little circle on the control i really don’t know how to explain it.My bad that you cant understand.Btw i saw you answer in a comment below that locking your front diff will give you problems is it the same with rear diffs?
As for trim speed; It's set at zero,or neutral, As for the rear diff;if it's a 10428 or 10428a the rear diff should already be locked,if it's a 10428b then it's unlocked, If it is a 10428b,then locking the rear diff would be o.k., As for the front differential;you are definitely asking for problems if you lock it up,all kinds of expensive problems, the only thing that you can really do to the front diff without worrying about breaking stuff,is using a extremely heavy oil in the front differential itself, too help slow it down, and make it less likely too slip, essentially turning it into a limited slip differential,😕
No! Nope! Nada! Defiantly Not! The 10428's are 1/10 scale and the 12428's are 1/12 scale, they are two completely different animals,I wouldn't do anything to the 12428 except cross my fingers that it runs probably free in stock form long enough to get your money worth out of it, and if it breaks, then cut your losses, and put it off to the side for a parts vehicle, not too sound mean, but there's not much hope for a 12428,the entire drive train is ultra weak, and there's not much you can do too beaf it up,😕 If you like the hobby, and enjoy that style chassis,I would whole hearted recommend that you look at Horizon hobbies website, and look at getting a "Vaterra" Twin Hammers, they make a RTR, and a Kit version, the Kit version is the one I would recommend,it comes with a bunch of Heavy Duty steel drive train parts, that the RTR version does not,I personally own a Kit version twin hammers, and have had it for almost three years,I've done a bunch of videos with it,beat the heck out of it,gave it too my 10 year old neice, and she has been beating it up for a year, and the vehicle has never experienced any problems of any kind, other then replacing the motor,we ran the brushes down from using it so much,😁 the twin hammers is almost exactly the same as a 10428,except the twin hammers is made from high quality materials, and the WLtoys are not.😕 Sorry for the mix up on vehicles my friend, and best of luck with the 12428 Brother 😉👍👍
Much appreciated Marcus 😁👍👍 Sorry for the slow reply, I was never notified of your comment,🤔 I just now accidentally stumbled across it,🙁 Many thanks for your great Comment and for taking the time to check out the video my friend.🙂😎👍👍
@@R.C.A.D. no reason to apologise :) I thank you mate for the awesome videos, i ordered the car right after watching this, and its awesome in so many ways! Thanks for sharing your rc fun, love your channel 👍
@@marcushaas44 Nice 😁👍👍 I just recently rejuvenated my Wltoys 10428a Hydroplane truck, Since I no longer live in a area that is conducive for a Hydroplane truck, I removed my Traxxas VXL 3s brushless system, changed out the 76t Kevlar spur gear & the 43t pinion gear, removed the Proline 2.8 Sand Paw paddle tires, and Converted it back into a Crawler 😂👍 I installed a Rc4wd 27t brushed motor, a 78t "Team Losi" Kevlar spur gear & 21t steel pinion gear, a set of 1.9 Rc4wd Interco Irok's, And a Axial AE5 esc, to get everything moving,😁 That truck has been sitting on a shelf for the last two,or more, years. It's almost like having a brand new vehicle again lol 😅
I have all kinds of video's featuring the 10428a 😁 But you would have to dig through my channel to find them 😉👍 As for new video on the 10428a, I haven't recorded anything as of yet, But since I just got it back to life, I will definitely be getting some video of it real soon,🙂👍
Thank you my friend,It's been a summer long project, and it's still not completely finished 😁 lol Thanks for the Great compliment, and for watching Brother 😎👍👍
@@R.C.A.D. np subbed and would be awesome if I could get 1 back if your not already subbed to mine lol! I loved the snow tunnel video to keep up the awesome work!
I hear that 1.5 million weight def lube, does a pretty good job at it,🤔 You could also try ear plugs, I hear that they do a pretty good job as well,😕 This one no longer has that problem, or any problems, and it won't either, And that is because the entire Drive Train has been swapped out for a Vaterra Twin Hammer's "Heavy Duty" drive train, it's currently a Vaterra Twin Hammer's in a Wltoys 10428 wrapper,😂 Thanks for your Awesome comment, and for checking out the video my friend. 😊🤜🤛👍👍
Thank you my friend 😊🙏 If you are interested, There's a Rnd 2 version of this Video, it's titled Wltoys 10428 Green Hammer First Run,🤔 or something like that.😊 Thanks for your Thumbs up 👍😊, and for checking out the video.😁🤜🤛
Nice! 😀👍 I totally recommend reading all of the comments & more importantly my replys too those comments, most of your questions, and more! will be answered.😊 As for the battery; The stock battery works quite well, and is generally good for about 45 minutes of run time,I actually use two of them in my Kyosho Blizzard,😁 but as for the battery that I use,It's a Discontinued "Duratrax Onyx" 5,700 mah 7.4v 35c 2s Soft Pack Lipo, and it barely fits! It actually requires a Aluminum spur gear cover,"because of the batteries larger size" part of the battery ends up resting on top of the spur gear cover,The battery weight, will push or flex the stock plastic spur gear cover into the spur gear itself, hence the aluminum cover! 😊 lol Congratulations on your purchase! And Much appreciation for your great questions & checking out the video my friend.😎👍👍 P.S. make sure too read all the comments & replys 😀
Many thanks for your great compliment but it's actually a Wltoys 10428 😕 Ten not Twelve.. which is a Honest Mistake.😄 The Wltoys 10428 is 1/10 scale, And the 12428 is 1/12 scale, which basically means that the 10428 is slightly larger all the way around vs the 12428.😉👍 Feel free to Cruse through my videos if you would like to see more of that Buggy in action, This video was filmed a few years ago, and the Wltoys 10428 is a totally different machine these days, I basically Customized the hell out of it, and it's truly a "one of a kind" Wltoys 10428, And there's not another like it anywhere in the world.😊 Many thanks once again for your great compliment, and many more thanks for checking out the video my friend.😁👍🤜🤛
Thanks for the Great comment, and compliments my friend,😁 And yes! Other than the tires, the vehicle is completely stock,👍 As for purchasing a WLtoys 10428; Well I personally wouldn't ever by another WLtoys 10428,😕 And would normally suggest getting the Real version of this vehicle,Which is the Vaterra "Twin Hammers" the "WLtoys & Fayiu" versions, are Cheap Clones of the real version,😕 For instance I've owned my Vaterra Twin Hammers for over 3 years,It's seen 10x as much abuse as the WLtoys, and has never experienced any issues of any sort,The WLtoys on the other hand has been extremely costly, and I happen to own two of them, the green 10428 in this video is still stock, but it needs a new transmission,The 2.2 tires were too much rotating mass, and destroyed the trans gears a few hours after this video,😕 My WLtoys 10428a had the same issues, and I replaced the entire drive train, with Vaterra Twin Hammers "Heavy Duty" Steel transmission gears, differentials, out drive cups, front cvd's,and Mip steel drive shafts,As well as replacing all of the electronics, with a Spektrum radio, receiver,a Savox sw0231mg steering servo, and a Axial AE5 esc,😕 for a grand total of around $300.00 us dollars, not including the initial vehicle price,😒 Which brings me back too my original statement of Getting a twin hammers vs the WLtoys,Ultimately it's more cost effective in the long run, vs trying too upgrade, and or cross convert the WLtoys,😕 But unfortunately the onslaught of Clone vehicles,is probably ultimately responsible for Vaterra stopping production of the Twin Hammers,Not enuff Sales! The cheap clone vehicles soaked up the market! 😞 And after thinking about it for a minute,it really upsets me! If people keep buying these clone vehicles, eventually it could put the quality RC companies out of business,And then there will be nothing left except for these Cheap Pieces of Crap! And the RC Hobby will be Wrecked for ever! 😞 Everyone will be driving Volkswagen's,with no choice of a quality RC in sight,😲 Anyways lol, I personally would recommend getting something of hobby grade quality,vs getting a WLtoys product, and helping the clone RC movement,😕 Amain Hobbies has a great online store, with probably one of the largest selections of RC vehicles,😊👍 Not being sponsored,Just a suggestion for a outstanding Hobby shop, Thanks again for your great comment, and for checking out the video Brother.😎👍👍
@@R.C.A.D. Ok thanks man really appreciate the information. I was thinking of purchasing the wltoys 12428 i did not know that this was the 10, both vehicles look very similar thats why😅But much thanks anyways bro😎
Right on Brother! 😊👍 Fyi the 12428 is even Crappier then the 10428,😕 the 12428 is very similar too the Fayiu Fy06 6x6,basically the same trans and drive train,I also happen to own a fy06 and can honestly tell you that it's terrible! Super Cheap! The 10428 is a much better choice in all reality, and it's a p.o.s. too lol,But a much better p o.s. then the 12428 😕😁lol
😁👍 at least it was perfect, at least until a few hours later when I disintegrated the Transmission Gear's,😂 lol The 2.2 Rc4wd mud slingers proved to be too much. 😄 lol It's moved past that since then, And it also gained a new name, The "10428 Green Hammer", And it consists of more Vaterra Twin Hammer's part's then Wltoys, it's currently the thing that all wltoys 10428's Aspire to be, Almost totally indestructible ! 😂👍 Lol And totally Brushless Capable too! 😉👍 Thanks for your great comment, and for checking out the video my friend. 😁👍🤜🤛
That is a WLtoys 10428,And driving it that slow is pure throttle control & skill, The only mods on the vehicle are aluminum wheel hexes, instead of the stock plastic hexes, and the 2.2 tires, Otherwise it's completely stock,😕 And I Do Not Recommend 2.2 tires on a WLtoys 10428,It Will Destroy the Transmission gears! No if's,and's,or but's about it. Thanks for you're great question, and for checking out the video my friend.😎👍

my wltoys is 1/12 how do you get those tires to fit is yours the 1/10 size ? does the 1/10 have the 12 mm hex or is this a mod? I gest noticed the video is two years old. sorry
No worry's Terry,👍 This is the 10428 1/10, had 12mm plastic hexes, and then I replaced those with Aluminum hexes,😕 usually that's the first stage for setting up the wltoys to break, "it's the weakest link" Afterwards, it will start breaking parts further down the line, and Everytime you upgrade a weak link, something else will break, and so on, and so on,🤔 I blew the transmission on this one a few hours after this video,😂 Which was a direct result of the 2.2 tires, too much rotating mass for the trans gears to handle,🤔 I actually just gave that buggy to my brother last week for a birthday gift,We have a huge stack of brand new Vaterra Twin Hammer's part's, that are getting ready to go in it,😊 up coming videos and whatnot 👍 I also recently revamped my Wltoys 10428a as well, it started out stock, then I made it into a totally amphibious floating Rock Crawler, and then I did a full Twin Hammer's part's conversation on it, and added a Traxxas VXL 3s 3600kv Brushless Motor and ESC, and turned it into a 75+ mph totally amphibious Brushless hydroplane truck,😂👍 and then it sat on a shelf for two years, and I just converted it back to a "normal brushed motor" Rock Crawler again,😁👍 new video coming soon on that one too,😊 Thanks for your great question Terry, and much appreciation for taking the time to check out the video Brother.😎👊👊
Hi, great video, many thanks! This is my first time commenting or asking any questions on youtube, I also have a WLtoys 10428 and have some transmission issues, I've bought vaterra metal gears ready to install them expecting them to be the same, then I read on a forum they may not be quite the same. You mentioned at the end of the video that you were going to do this, did you ever do it, was it successful, did you/could you make make a video of this? Cheers V. much!!
Well that was over two years ago,And I'm not even sure if you can still get a set of steel Twin Hammer's transmission gears anymore,I know that they are getting to be few and far between,Since "Vaterra" is no longer making that vehicle,☹️ I might have a video on the process if you dig through my videos,But I'm not sure,Once again,I did that over two years ago, If you do indeed have a set of Twins Hammer's gears,Then yes there is a couple of small differences,I believe that I used the stock wltoys main shaft, that goes out to the Spur gear, equipped with the Vaterra gears, "So Vaterra gears and wltoys top shaft" "Reason being",is that the output bearing is a different size, so the Vaterra shaft wouldn't jive! I believe that everything else went together like clockwork,🤔 Although the lower main shaft, that goes to the drive shafts on the "wltoys", has a larger output shaft diameter where it meets the drive shafts, So I believe that I used the stock lower shaft as well,🤔 I know that it does all go together,I did it on my wltoys 10428a, which I turned into a totally amphibious Brushless hydroplane rig,😂 If all else fails,You can order a stock plastic Vaterra Twin Hammer's transmission case for like $15.00 dollars,or less,😕 But if you're going that route, then you should probably snatch up everything that you can find that's Drive Train related, And change everything over,😕 But that would cost you more money than buying a Twin Hammer's to begin with, And I don't know if it's true,or not, But I personally believe that the overall sales of the "Cloned" Twin Hammer's, from wltoys and faiyu, Killed the overall sales,For the "far superior" Twin Hammer's,which could be the reason behind it not being produced anymore, I know that when I got my Twin Hammer's kit a few years back,That there was every part imaginable available for it,And now there's next to nothing available,Even from Horizon hobbies website, who is ultimately the Manufacturer,😕 It's a Real bummer,☹️ I've had my Twin Hammer's for over three years,And it's been used more than any RC that I own,And often gets offered to first time RC'ers, "As a introductory vehicle" And the only thing that has gone bad,was a $10.00 dollar Rc4wd motor,And that was on it's third year,😂 My wltoys is another story, Half the initial price,But it will get you the end with repairs, and upgrades,🤔 And will end up costing more than three times the initial payment for a Twin Hammer's,☹️ Especially when you have to replace all the electronics as well, Technically speaking, that was the first thing that I changed out on my wltoys 10428a, And it makes a huge difference with overall drive ability,👍 Spektrum dx4c radio Spektrum sr415 four channel receiver Axial Ae5 esc Two Savox sw 0231 mg waterproof servos, Not saying that you need to get any of that stuff, that's just what I put in my 10428a back in the day,😕 And I don't recommend trying to make a Amphibious hydroplane rig either,😕 I had well over $1,200.00 dollars invested into that project,🤯 Way too much money to spend on a wltoys! lol Personally,I would recommend that you Not put any real money into the wltoys,I would treat it like a introductory vehicle, And if you really enjoy the hobby of RC crawler's, Then I would save my money for a Actual Hobby Grade vehicle,Something of Real Quality, and much more Reliable! 🤔 Ultimately speaking, Wltoys are considered to be a "Toy Grade vehicle" And as Strong as the plastic may be,and it is strong,All the metal drive train parts are super weak, ☹️ I mean,They are a decent Rc vehicle for a beginner, Much better than a new bright,or anything else available on a big box store shelf,🤔 But they are definitely not Hobby Grade! ☹️ I consider them to be a, "Get what you paid for RC" If you have some free time,I would suggest that you Google "Amain Hobbies" and look at all the different types of Rock crawler's and trail trucks that are available,🙂👍 Not being sponsored in any way,But they are my personal favorite online hobby shop,And have a selection that can't be beat, with RC's,or Parts & Accessories,🙂👍👍 Thanks for your great comments, and questions,as well as for taking the time to check out the video,😎👍 Please except my apologies John if I sounded rude in my reply,😕 It's definitely not my intent,My only intent,is to persuade you into a RC vehicle of higher quality,🙂👍 Thanks again for checking out the video my friend.😎✌️
hi i found this site it had alot more spare parts for this speciic car then another site i was looking at and figured id give you the link, not sure if what you are looking for is on here but i hope this helps regardless www.rc-helicopter-spare-parts-online.com/wltoys-10428-rc-car-c-464/
Oh and heres the link for all the upgrades but im sure you prolly already found these but just incase :) www.wltoysrc.com/27-wltoys-10428-upgrade-parts
The wheels in this video are 2.2 Proline Plastic Beadlocks, And I can't remember the actual wheel style name,😕 Now having said that, please allow me to share some excellent advice, Do not under any means put 2.2 tires, and wheels on your WLtoys, the Transmission Can't handle the extra rotating mass,of the larger tires, and wheels,Your High/low gears will be the first too go,and depending on your driving style, the trans gears will probably strip out within the first hour of running,😕 So unless you upgrade everything on your WLtoys drive train too Vaterra Twin Hammers Heavy Duty steel gears, and differential's,then I wouldn't suggest running 2.2's,the stock drive train will come apart with the quickness 😢 Many thanks for you great question, and for checking the video my friend 😀😎👍👍
Oh yes I have! 😕 But not on this particular 10428, I had done that with my 10428a, well over three years ago,🤔 it does work if you're gluing the diff with JB Weld, But there's some serious repercussions for doing that,😕 And that is because of the notoriously weak front diff Out drive cups & front cvd's,🤔 they can't handle the extra stress of having the front diff locked, and will start breaking parts relatively quickly,😕 especially if you're putting it through it's paces,🤔 and it will ultimately lead to total drive train destruction, You should check out my channel and see what I've done with my 10428a,🤔 Which bare in mind, was done well over three years ago, But I started out gluing the front diff, and then stuff started breaking, and I proceeded to repair, replace, and highly modify from there,😂 and it's all on video! 👍👍 No need to suggest anything related to fixing,or modifying the wltoys 10428, until you have seen everything that I have done to the 10428a,🤔😂👍👍 I believe that I'm not only the first, But also the Only person, that has made a 10428 totally amphibious, But also made it hydroplane water as well! So if I accidentally flip it over backwards on the water, Not only can I stab the throttle and flip it back upright on the water, But I can also paddle it back to shore under it's own power, Because it floats! 😂 Lol And it's also insanely fast for a Wltoys, I've never clocked it with a GPS, but I wouldn't be surprised if it hits 75 to 80 mph,🤔 It's insanely fast! So yeah! I've got the wltoys situation well under control my friend,😁👍👍 Thanks for your great Comment, and for taking the time to check out the video Jorge,😎👊👊
Your not kidding,I'm glad someone else finally noticed that fact,🤔 That was the first thing that I had done with my 10428a,I replaced the radio with a Spektrum dx4c, Replaced the receiver with a Spektrum Sr415 four channel receiver, Replaced the esc with a Axial Ae5 esc, and then replaced the servos with some Savox sw 0232mg waterproof servos,😊 And the entire package makes a world of difference, with overall drive ability,🙂 Huge difference! 👍 Thanks for your great comment, and for taking the time to check out the video my friend.😎👍👍✌️
Hey I like you will toys 10 428i have the same setup accept with metal beadlocks and lately I'm having trouble binding right now I get steering and transmission shifting but no throttle could you help me out
What's happening Robert 😊🖐️ It sounds to me like you have a bad ESC "Electronic Speed Control" But it could also be as simple as a disconnected wire going to the motor, or possibly just a bad motor, But Ten chances to one, it sounds like you're ESC crapped out,😕 Power going to the Servo's but nothing going to the motor is definitely ESC related,🤔 You have two choices with that situation Rob; #1 go to wltoys USA and order a new Receiver/ESC or you can go with the Second option, which is a much better option 😊👍 And that is to replace all of the electronics in the vehicle with a Hobby Grade setup, Which is what I have done with all of my Wltoy products.😁👍 I use a Spektrum DX4C Transmitter, a Spektrum sr415 four channel receiver, a Axial AE5 ESC, and Savox Sw 0231mg waterproof servo's. "Fyi the Servo's are an extremely tight fit" But after it's all said and done, you will have a much better vehicle after the upgrade,😁 your Steering will be much more precise,as well as your throttle and breaking control, Night and Day difference between the two, As a matter of fact, Upgrading the electronics on your Wltoys to a Hobby grade system, is one of the Best upgrades that you can do for that vehicle.😊👍 Huge difference in overall Driveability! 😁 💯% Binding isn't the problem with your Wltoys, if it was then you're servo's wouldn't be working either,🤔😕 You either have a disconnected wire going to the motor, or the Receiver/ESC is Shot. Upgrade it to a Hobby grade system 👍 Feel free to check out Amain Hobbies website for any of your Hobby Grade RC needs 😁👍 "not being sponsored" that's just my go to source for RC stuff. Thanks for your great question Robert, Hopefully I was helpful for you, and very much appreciated for checking out the video my friend.😊👍🤜🤛
I haven't waterproofed the WLtoys, the only thing I waterproofed was the battery, And I "plasti dipped" that. WLtoys claims that the 10428 is "Air quotations""waterproof" But I've only trusted it with "light splashes" and "Snow" otherwise, personally I wouldn't trust it too far,for being waterproof,😕 Thanks for your great questions, and for checking out the video leedle lee.😀👍
Yeah my 10428 came with the remote,But I did donate my remote from my 10428a to a viewer on my channel, and they were able too successfully bind that remote too there 10428b,😊 You need to press the bind button on the radio, and then the bind button on the vehicles receiver,The receiver is the tuff portion of the job,As it is buried under the body & glued too the bottom of the chassis pan,😕 Once you get too the receiver, their should be a little black rupper button back by where the wires plug in to the receiver,"its pretty small"and will require a small Phillips screw driver or something too depress it, You want the vehicle power & the radio turned on for the binding process,Once you press both buttons the vehicle should beep or put out some sort of tone signifying that it has been bound,Then give the steering a quick blip too confirm that everything is working, after that you should be good too go for the duration of the vehicles lifespan,😊👍 Hopefully the info is helpful, and many thanks for checking out the video Michael. 😎👍👍
@@R.C.A.D. this was really help, I just got one of these WLtoys and the remote seemed like it had a dead spot. I will certainly be following your advice to pair a different remote. Any suggestions on upgrades?
😕 hmm? well! This is always a tuff conversation for me,I don't know if you really want,my honest opinion on Suggestions,🤔 Honestly, I would say that you should treat the wltoys, as a intro Vehicle only! And not to invest any extra money into it,😕 in other words, "the juice isn't worth the squeeze"🤔 Ultimately it will end up costing you more than what it's worth, I would treat it as a intro Vehicle only, And if you find yourself truly enjoying the hobby, Then I would suggest that you look at "Amain Hobbies" online store, And start shopping for something of Hobby grade, That is all they carry, Nothing but Hobby Grade vehicles,😕 The wltoys is considered "Toy Grade",probably one of the best toy grade RC brands next to Fayio, which are both much better than anything made by "new bright" But they are both a Far cry, from a hobby grade Vehicle,😕🤔 The wltoys 10428 Vehicle's along with it's matching Fayio counter part, "Are both Clone Vehicle's" And they are Cloned from the Vaterra Twin Hammer's, Which is also fetured in this video,🤔 They are extremely similar, But the Vaterra is made with High Quality parts,vs the others being more on the "tinfoil tested side"🤔 the Vaterra's metal gears are like "impact socket steel" and the wltoys is made of something significantly softer, like some kind of cheap "Pop metal", There's huge differences with the plastic as well, The Vaterra has a fiber infused plastic, and the wltoys is closer to Rubbermaid,😕 I could go on for awhile about the differences,🤔 The moral of the story is that, I've had both vehicles for over three years now, And Nothing has ever broken on the Twin Hammer's,Absolutely no problems, But the wltoys has cost me a small fortune,🤔 enough, that I could have bought a really nice Hobby Grade vehicle, for around the same amount that I dumped into the wltoys on repairs,🤔😕 Just something to think about ? 👍👍 The wltoys electronics are a good example, Nothing but wltoys electronics jive with wltoys,🤔 so if you are wanting a stronger steering servo for instance, You would have to replace all of the electronics, Figure around $150.00 at the least for that,🤔 "new radio, new esc,and new servos" At that Point, You could have bought a Redcat Gen 8 for the combined total of the wltoys, & all new electronics,🤔 And that's without getting into replacing, and upgrading the drive train, Once that's done, you're getting close to the price of a brand new Traxxas Trx4,🤔😕 "That is if you upgrade with heavy duty Vaterra Twin Hammer's part's",👍 Best scenario,is to just treat it like a intro Vehicle,👍👍 Thanks for your great Comment,& questions, And much appreciation for checkingout the video my friend.🙂😎👍👍
Love the video! Ive got a 12428 I am modding into a crawler, of course now I wish I had of purchased the 10428 for better crawling. When you refer the wltoys as a rental car do you mean its a car you don't really care about like a rental?
Thanks for your great comments my friend,😀 As for the rental reference; That was kind of a inside joke, between my friend Matt Roberts of Criptic Custom RC,and myself,Mainly due too my TRX4 Bronco, and the fact that I was using it more than anything else,in reality my 10428's have been around much longer than the Bronco, The one in the video has been featured on my channel several times, and was previously equipped with a Jeep Wrangler body, My other 10428 is another special vehicle,I put it through several transformations, from stock too a Crazy Fast, Brushless,Amphibious, Hydroplane Vehicle,I hold that vehicle in Higher Regard then any another RC that I own, So nope, not saying anything bad about the WLtoys.😀 Best of Luck with your WLtoy projects Brother,😀👍 And much appreciation for checking out the video.😎👊👊
Thanks for the reply, yes the wltoys bug has bitten me! My stock motor burnt out from running 3 batteries back to back without improving the cooling. Currently waiting for a 80T motor, new radio gear and esc, adjustable engine mount, smaller pinion gears cheap plastic bead lockers and 1.9" super swampers for it. Hope to make some videos with it when its done. Should be nice and properly low range! I have been enjoying watching your videos until the parts arrive. One thought I had watching this one was would there be much advantage adding wheel weights to the inside of the tyres for some extra grip perhaps?
(Also just quietly I'm hoping to use the 12428 to get my wife interested enough for her to take over the 12428 as her car so I can upgrade to a 10428 😝)
My pleasure my friend,😀 And you might not want too use any wheel weights,I used too use them on all if my vehicles, but after using them for awhile I realized that the stress they were causing to the front drive cvd's,wasn't worth any benefits of the weight,😕 at least too the wheels,if you do need too add weight, your better off putting those weights in different locations along the inside of the chassis itself,it's not as immediately effective, but the ware & tear aspect is much lower,😀 those weighted tires cause a tremendous amount off stress on the drive train, while trying too spin that heavy tire up,and over obstacles😬,it's definitely not worth it,😀👍 switching out from plastic wheels, too Aluminum wheels, will add enough weight on their own, As for the 85t motor;that is low rpm's,like super low,I've got a 65t in my trail finder 2, spinning 2.2 Swampers,on Aluminum wheels, and the 65t is way too low for it, It's none of my business, but you might be happier with something in the 45-55t range, with the smallest pinion gear you can fit,😀👍👍 I'm currently kinda in the same process with my brothers Fy06 6×6,eBay aluminum 1.9 wheels,eBay Swampers, and a 35t Brushed motor,We are currently shopping for small pinon gears,😊
Wltoys "10428" & the "10428a", both come equipped with a locked rear differential,😊👍 the front differential however, is "open" 🤔 😕 at least it was during this video,😂 It's currently, a totally different Animal all together,😁👍👍 Thanks for your great question Matt, and many more for checking out the video my friend.😊😎👍👍
Well,🤔 😕 it's not difficult to lock the front, or the rear axle, and it's even easier to accomplish, if you by the optional locker's, from "Wltoys USA" 😊 Locking up the rear axle is okay,🤔 but locking up the front differential however, can quickly start causing drive train Breakage,😕 And the weakest links start breaking first, and as you upgrade those weak link's to stronger parts, the problem moves down the line to the next weakest link, and so on, and so on,🤔😕 Now I can literally sit here and type away for three hours straight, telling you exactly what is going to break first, and so on, And I can also talk for hours about how to make it somewhat "bullet proof" 😕 Unfortunately, the parts that are needed to make the buggy somewhat bullet proof, are for the most part, Unavailable! 🤔 😕 And that would consist of replacing the "entire" Wltoys drive train, with "Heavy Duty" "Vaterra" Twin Hammer's, Drive Train part's, The "Twin Hammer's" is the Hobby Grade Version, of a Wltoys 10428,🤔 The Wltoys 10428, is Technically the cheap Chinese Clone version, of the "Vaterra" Twin Hammer's, and they stopped producing the Twin Hammer's, back in 2012,😕 And now, 8 year's later, it's getting to be impossible, to find all of the necessary parts, from a Twin Hammer's, for beafing up the wltoys 10428,😕 And even if you did manage to find, all 21 Vaterra part bags that are needed, by the time that you are finished, it would have been cheaper, just to have purchased a Hobby Grade Vehicle to begin with,🤔😕 Almost $300.00 in needed parts, then add the original sticker price of the wltoys, and now you're at around $450.00+,🤔 and you can buy a real nice Hobby Grade RC, for around $450.00 as well,😕 my personal recommendation, is that you just leave it alone, and drive it for what it is, And later down the line, if you decide that you really like the Hobby, then I would save up some money, and buy a Hobby Grade Vehicle,😊👍 it will be much cheaper in the long run, and you would be much happier as well,😁🤜🤛
In this video; Yes The tires & wheels were the only upgrade at that time.😁👍 Thanks for your great question, and many more for checking out the video my friend.😎👍👍
😕😢 sorry man! It's never an easy conversation me, And truthfully,I kinda dred answering any of the WLtoys related comments, wether it's in this video,or any of my other WLtoy videos,😞 Most of the comments are coming from people who aren't subscribers,& are also seemingly first time RC buyers, who's eyes are filled with Joy,Excitement,& General Enthusiasm towards getting there new WLtoys,And they leave comments that reflect their obvious joy, Now myself being the kind & truthful person that I am,Have a hard time leaving them a positive reply to their comments,When I know, that vehicle parts are going to start failing, within the first few weeks,or months of ownership, and that 90% of the consumers, will not have the knowledge,or even the willingness, too tackle any kind of major repairs, custom fabricating,or custom adapting,😕 So what do I do ? Blow a bunch of smoke up there Butts, and tell them that it was money well spent, and that they made a great move, and bought an Outstanding RC product, that will give them years of problem free enjoyment, all the while knowing, that it will suffer catastrophic failure before too long,😕 Or tell them the truth! And let them know what they can expect for breakage, and what, and exactly how much money it would take to properly upgrade it too "air quotations" bullet proof status,And that they would be better off canceling there WLtoys order,Save some extra cash,And purchase a hobby grade RC,😕 WLtoys are "toy grade" RC's! And are only a few steps above a New Bright, and a Far Cry! from hobby grade, ultimately you get what you pay for,😕 And no matter how many diamonds you through on a piece of crap too dress it up,at the end of the day, underneath it all,it's still a piece of Crap! 😕 So what do you do ? Break hearts! or Blow Smoke! ? 😞 Unfortunately the messenger is always First too get Shot! and or Crucified for speaking the truth! 😕
@@R.C.A.D. --- I am about $225 (including vehicle) into my WL 18428 and happy with it. Knowing what I know now I could have dialed it in cheaper. The WL 140001 is a gem and a bargain. It comes with that higher end quality. The shocks are huge oil filled. The frame is aluminum. Linkage and drive shafts, all metal. Big donk motor. It came fast and capable. I spent $4 on it to slot in the Hubsan 2700 mah 2S and it goes faster than i need which is perfect. Also I topped off the shock oil and adjusted the pre-load.
no more wltoys conversations please! Reading me specs on WLtoys products,is like telling me,that the specs on a cheap car stereo amplifier, are True, It's all B.S. man 😕 WLtoys is the Sparkomatic of RC's. WLtoys comes equipped with full ball bearings,But the bearings are garbage, and will start making noise within the first few minutes or hours! It comes with Metal gears, But they don't tell you what kind of metal it is!, I can tell you that it's not Hardened Steel! 😕 And that it's most likely softer than baby poop! 😕 Oil filled shocks,& metal links, wow! Stand back! Once again, what kind of metal for the shock pistons,& links,? And they will probably leak the oil out within the first day, I'm not Drinking the WLtoys Cool aid my friend! 😕 but feel free too guzzle that stuff down,Have fun waiting for the Comet with the rest of the Sheep,But I'm definitely not buying what there selling! Figuratively & Littorally! 😕
No problem Michael, sorry for being short tempered with you my friend,But the subject of WLtoys products is completely lost on me,And ultimately,I'm sure the overall sales of the Cloned vehicle's, such as the WLtoys & Fayiu,is probably what killed the sales for the Vaterra Twin Hammers,😕 Which is too bad, because it's heavier duty parts, are the only thing that will pretty much directly swap over, too the WLtoys, and now the Vaterra Twin Hammers Heavy Duty parts, are starting too become few,and far between,😞 which is a total bummer! Once again,I personally blame the Clone vehicles, like the WLtoys 10428,which is a Direct Rip Off! of the Vaterra Twin Hammers,😕 And if that trend, keeps up it's pace, then it won't be long before all of those Inferior Clone vehicles take over the RC market, and kill the sales,of all the "more reliable" Hobby Grade RC vehicles,😕 Just a thought! And fyi; I also have, over 50 other WLtoys related videos, in case you're interested 😕
Thank you sir,😊👍 And there's actually a part two, to this video, it's titled Wltoys 10428 Green Hammer,😁👍 Thanks again for your kind words, and for taking the time to check out the video my friend.🙂😎👍👍
Wel... Wltoys says that it's Water Resistant on the packaging, and it also says that it's water resistant on the vehicle description on the web, "But as for personal experience" I would say that it's good for some splashing, but definitely not for submarining.😉👍 Generally speaking... I would try to avoid the water as much as possible with it. 😂👍
No ? 🤔 It does have a two speed transmission,But I have it locked in low range, Otherwise Everything else comes down to Throttle control, "basically saying" that it's all in how hard,or softly you pull the throttle trigger on the controller, "Variable throttle" "Fully proportional" like an electric Drill, The farther you pull the trigger on,The faster it moves, And if you hold it in one spot,it will maintain a constant speed, Very much like the gas pedal,on a Real vehicle,😕 New Bright and many other toy grade RC's,do not have fully proportional controls, So when you hit the gas there is no control, it's wide open forward,or wide open reverse, Same for turning left or right, Where as fully proportional gives you full control in any direction,🤔 🙂👍 Thanks for your great question, and for taking the time to check out the video my friend.🙂😎✌️
That's the 10428 in stock form minus the tires, those are some Rc4wd 2.2 mud slingers, and I stripped out the transmission gears about 45 minutes later, The 2.2 tires were too much for it to handle.☹️ So that's a yes on the 1/10 scale, and a no on $200.00 dollars, I got this one when they were still Cheaply priced, which was $150.00 😊👍 And now that I converted it into a "Twin Hammer's" it's worth closer to $600.00 dollars 🙄 and it will probably never break again.😊👍 The only vehicle that I owned that was close to a 12428 was the fayiu fy06 6×6, it has the same drive train as the 12428 except that it's a 6×6 instead of a 4×4, and that thing was So... Worthless that I stripped it down and turned the chassis into a Tandem axle flat bed trailer,😂 That is the trailer that was hauling the wltoys 10428 Twin Hammer's conversion out to the adventure course on the wltoys Green Hammer first run video.😊 Note; The Fayiu fy06 is a complete hunk of Sh*t 😕 Which means the same thing for the wltoys 12428, it's a total hunk of poo 💩 😂 Lol Thanks for your great question, and for checking out the video Dakota.😊👍
@@KAarnagemAmolgada That is Awesome my friend,I love hearing about my courses inspiring people,😊 This is kind of a old video, I have since made some changes, including a even larger course that intersects the original course,Feel free to cruise through some of my later videos, the new course is pretty cool,😁 Best of Luck on your project Brother.😎👍👍
The standard 2.2 Rc4wd Mud Slingers are 124mm outer diameter,Don't use them on a WLtoys, you Will break all kinds of drive train parts, Not you might break parts,But rather you Will definitely break parts,😕 for more information on that subject,Feel free to read the rest of everyone's comments, and My reply too there comments,👍 Thanks for watching my friend.😀👍👍
The Rc4wd 2.2 Mud Slingers are 4'3/4 inches tall by almost 2 inches wide, "123 mm tall by 49 mm wide" Fyi; I don't personally recommend running anything larger than a 1.9 on the WLtoys 10428 vehicles, the extra rotating mass "Will" destroy the drive train. Thanks for the Great question, and for checking out the video my friend.😀👍👍
Ultimately it's a combination of overall weight, larger tire diameter, larger wheel, and or possibly extra weight from aluminum wheels, equals a lot of extra rotating mass, It honestly doesn't look like much by looking at it,but if you think about that tiny wheel spindle, and the torque being applied too it,by trying too spin those larger tires, and it should start to make sense, The pins that WLtoys uses on the wheel hexes, cvd's,drive shaft universals, and transmission, are notoriously weak, and will break,or bend from the added stress, and if you decide to replace all of the pins with something more hobby grade, you will start to experience more catastrophicall parts failure, like the front half shafts breaking,or the front differential outdrive cups breaking,or the dreaded transmission failure, "Which are all costly repairs" It's your vehicle, and you can do,or try whatever you feel, But I honestly wouldn't run anything larger than a 1.9 tire, and wheel.😉👍 Best of Luck Brother 😀👊👊
Sure thing! This is what I did, "Google" "Proline 2.2 plastic bead lock wheels" Heaven forbid! Anyone look something up for themselves,🙄 And the tires are "Rc4wd" 2.2 Mud Slinger's. Google "Rc4wd" for those! Or you could Google "Amain Hobbies" and find both the tires, and the wheels at the same time,😄👍 Either way, I Don't recommend putting them on the wltoys 10428,🤔 It will lead to "Complete" drive train destruction,😕 Use At Your Own Risk! Thanks for your great question, and for taking the time to check out the video my friend,🙂😎👍👍
Say what! What website are you referring too?, I honestly have no idea about what your talking about,I know that they sell for between $140.00-$150.00 U.S.dollars brand new,so $100.00 off would be a huge discount,But once again I haven't seen,or heard anything about a $100.00 discount,😕 If you can get one for 50 bucks, then I would say go for it,👍 but otherwise,I stand on my original statement,of not knowing exactly what you are referring too,if you could clarify more on the "website" that your talking about ? I would greatly appreciate it, I hope you enjoyed the video, and thanks for watching my friend,😀👍👍
I found that its biggest problem is the weight, it simply doesnt weight enough stock and I had happened to have a small brick of lead I placed right in the middle (i removed the driver and plastic cover and covered it with metal screen) and it almost entirley elimanates the torque twist and increases traction greatly
"Rc4wd 2.2 Mud Slingers" Feel free to search them out on the internet for the best deal. Note; I do not recommend tyres larger than 1.9's for a Stock Wltoys 10428, The vehicles Drive-Train can't handle the extra rotating mass of 2.2 tyre's, It will quickly destroy any number of Transmission Gear's, and or the Front Differential CVD shafts, or Front diff out drive cups.🤔 The moral of the story, is that you are Definitely going to Break your Wltoys shortly after installing larger tyres onto the vehicle.☹️ But it's a free Country...So feel free to do whatever you please, 😂👍 lol But Don't say that I didn't Warn you. 😉👌 Thanks for your Great Question, and I wish you the best of luck Salvatore 😊👍
I have no idea 😕 This is a wltoys 10428, which is 1/10 scale, The 12428 is 1/12 scale, and I do not own one of those 😕 Which is the problem when people don't pay attention to video details,🤔 Thanks for checking out the video.👍👍✌️
Yep! It's called "Torque Twist" and the Twin Hammer's & Wltoys, are famous for it.🤔 And there's not much that you can do about it 😕 Thanks for checking out the video my friend.🙂👍
I believe he is driving his Bronco in this video,if it's a Black Bronco, with a Red stripe down the side, then it's definitely Ian 😀 it's been awhile since I've seen this video,so I can't exactly recall who all is in it,I believe that Ian is driving the Bronco, his daughter is driving the Blue 4x4 buggy,"Twin Hammers", and I'm operating the Green 4x4 buggy, that looks similar too the blue buggy, except it's just a cheap Chinese Clone of the Blue buggy,Blue one is the real deal, the Green one is a cheap copy,😂 lol Many thanks for checking out the video, and I hope all is well with you and the family 😊😀👍👍
Proline 2.2 Plastic Beadlock wheels,Can't recall the actual wheel "style name". I would suggest "googling" "Proline 2.2 plastic beadlock wheels" and see what pop's up,Not to give away trade secrets, but I find that "Google" is very helpful when trying to find RC items.😀👍 Basic description; The wheel is a 3 piece plastic beadlock, with a Steel bolt on outer beadlock ring, and a 12mm plastic wheel hex hub. I typically don't run plastic Beadlocks,But I generally keep a few set's around for vehicles that have a weak drive train's and can't handle the extra rotating mass of a aluminum beadlock wheel,Such as the WLtoys,😕 If your looking for some decent, yet cost effective aluminum beadlock wheels, I would suggest looking on Wish.com,My brother has found several halfway decent aluminum beadlock wheels on "Wish" and very cost effective, usually between $25.00 too $35.00 us dollars, for a set of 4 wheels,😀 which is a Awesome deal! The Proline Plastic Beadlocks typically go for around $35 to $40.00 us dollars, too put things into perspective,😕 Best of Luck on your hunting my friend.😀👍👍
"Rc4wd 2.2 Mud Slingers" But please read everyone else's comments,And my Replys too those comments, It could ultimately save you all kinds of time and hassle! 👍 And in closing I would also like too stait that, "I Do Not Recommend"running any tire larger than a 1.9,on the WLtoys 10428, 2.2's are just too much rotating mass, and it will lead too Catastrophic Drive-Train Failure! 😨😭 Please read all comments 😕 Thank you for your great question, and for checking out the video my friend.😎👍👍
The tires are made by Rc4wd; you can order them directly from Rc4wd.com,or at any major online hobby store, such as Amain hobbies,or Tower hobbies,Don't qoute me on the price, but there right around 25 dollars for a set of two tires, which would be around fifty dollars for four tires. The wheels are made by Proline, they are "plastic" beadlock wheels, they are around 40 dollars for a set of four. The tires themselves are Rc4wd 2.2 Mud Slingers. But,I Absolutely Do Not Recommend running 2.2 tires on a WLtoys 10428, The Drive Train Can't Handle the Extra Rotating Mass.😕 I could go into a very long, and detailed explanation,on exactly what is going too break, and what order it's going too break in,and how much it's going to cost too properly repair everything, But that would require about three hours of typing,😕 Which I have done with several different comments on this video, So,I would highly recommend that you Read the other comments,That will pretty much tell you all you need to know about running 2.2's,and the Breakage of parts. In closing;Don't put 2.2 tires on your WLtoys,Many thanks for your great comment, and much appreciation for checking out the video my friend.😀😎👍👍
Oh yeah there sure is John, but it comes with heavy penalties, All kinds of things will start breaking afterwards, like the front cvd's,then the transmission gears, then the plastic rear drive shaft, and finally the rear ring & pinion, If you leave it stock with a open front diff, everything lasts for awhile, once you start upgrading it you have too upgrade everything, swapping the radio, esc, and steering servo is also a great idea towards the vehicle being more capable, Thanks for the Great question, and for watching Brother 😀👊👊🍻🍻🍻
Sorry Franco 😕 unfortunately I threw out that manual year's ago, But from what I can recall, Wltoys has a online parts store somewhere on the internet,🤔 should really just be a matter of finding it, After that, just type in your vehicle, and it should pop up all the stock parts that are available for it,😕 It's been years since I was on that website, last time was ordering a steel spur gear for the 10428, and it took so long to get it that I actually gave up on getting it, and replaced the spur gear with a similar "Team Losi" Kevlar spur gear,🤔 which was ultimately much better than the wltoys steel spur gear, Anyways I'm rambling,😂 start doing some Google searches, you'll find it eventually, that's how I did it several years ago,👍 Either that or wait for someone else to possibly email you the manual, which could be today,or possibly a year from now, Never a sure bet when you are relying on others for help,🤔 Best of luck my friend, and thanks for checking out the video.😎👍👍
@@francocutroneo6978 I looked in my file of manuals,And I'm sorry to say that I no longer have the wltoys manual,😢 Sorry Franco! My only suggestion at this point would be to Google wltoys, And see if you can find the "Actual" wltoys website, after that it should be a piece of cake, 🙂👍 Best of luck my friend.😎✌️
I totally agree brother,😊 2s gets it done nicely,👍 I run a Duratrax Onyx 5700 mah 35c 2s soft pack in my WLtoys & Twin Hammers, I used the stock 2200 mah 25c 2s pack in this video for the sake of argument,😁 But normally it's sporting the Duratrax battery,😊 I did a video a few years ago about that battery swap,😊👍 Great Job Brother! I like your style my friend.😎👊👊
@@tatsuyachannel1 Well I kinda don't recommend anyone running those tires on there wltoys, Ultimately, the vehicles drive train, just can't handle the stress of the extra rotating mass,of the larger tires,🤔 and it Will... ultimately lead to Complete drive train failure,😒 I know, it's a total bummer ☹️ But the tires are "Rc4wd" 2.2 Mud Slinger's, and the wheels are Proline "Titanus" 2.2 plastic bead lock wheels, And Sadly, the wheels have been long since discontinued,😒 If you search through the comments you may find a link to the tires,& a link to a alternate set of Proline plastic bead lock wheels, Although once again, I don't recommend putting 2.2 tires on a wltoys.🤔
Okay,😕 I understood about you having a new wltoys, and that you have metal RC trucks, which doesn't really tell me much about the trucks,🤔 there's all kinds of "metal" Hobby Grade RC Vehicle's, and just as many cheap "Pop metal" RC Clones,🤔 which frankly, don't compare to the Hobby Grade versions, such as "Rc4wd" and whatnot,😕 So you basically told me nothing, other than you have a new wltoys 10428, Not trying to be mean or anything,😕 I'm just trying to say that you weren't very discriptive about it,👍 And then from there down on your comment, I have absolutely no idea what you're trying to say,🤔 ? If your talking about swapping out Transmission's from one Vehicle to the next, Let me just say, as a 40+ year veteran in RC's, and fabricating RC stuff, it's not exactly cut & dry,😕 some things just won't work no matter what you do, Due to chassis, and drive train layouts,as well as the different types of drive train's,🤔 like solid axles,vs I.F.S. "independent front suspension" 😕 So basically, what I gather from what you have told me,🤔 is that you really don't know what you're talking about,😕 which once again, is all based on "Your Comment", and the way that "You" worded everything,😕 If you want to see a Wltoys 10428 that is Faster than Sin, Then you need to see some of my other videos,🤔 I made a Wltoys 10428a Completely Amphibious, and then Converted every thing over to Vaterra Twin Hammer's, "Heavy Duty" Steel drive train, with a Mip steel rear drive shaft, Team Losi "Kevlar" 78 tooth 48 pitch Spur gear, and a Traxxas VXL 3s Velineon 3500kv Brushless Combo, running a 41 tooth 48 pitch steel pinion gear, and some Proline 2.8 Sand Paw Paddle tires all around, I don't know how fast it is exactly,🤔 I never actually tried clocking it, but I would guess that it's probably around 75-80 MPH, at half throttle,😕 any more than half throttle, and the truck Violently flips over backwards, in the blink of an eye,😮 and it Hydroplanes water as well,😂👍 it's a Brushless, Amphibious, Ultra High Speed, Hydroplaning, Wltoys 10428a,😁 I built it around three years ago, cost me close to $1,300.00 us dollars to build,😕 and is not only the First of its kind, But it's also probably, the only one that you will see online,😊👍 and it's all mine,😂 I built it from start to finish, and it's all online to see,😊👍 and unfortunately due to part's Availability,🤔 Not to many more people, are going to be able to build something like that with the Wltoys 10428, 😕 the "Vaterra" Twin Hammer's Heavy Duty Drive-Train part's, are becoming very difficult to find, even on eBay,😕 I just finished fully converting this particular wltoys 10428 for my brother as a Birthday gift, and I had a Seriously Tuff time trying to find some of the last few parts that were required,🤔 21 Vaterra part bags in total, to Fully Convert it to Twin Hammer's Quality,😕 very expensive, easily over $300.00 u.s. dollars, and that's with swapping out the Receiver, ESC, Steering servo, and Motor, we already had a Transmitter to bind it with, so that was a saved expense,👍 currently the only thing that is still "Wltoys" on this Buggy, is the Main Chassis plate, Suspension components, Shocks, and the body,🤔 The Complete Rear axle "locked with Helical cut ring & pinions, Rear drive shaft, Complete Transmission gear's and Case, Complete front locked differential,& case, With Helical cut ring & pinion, along with "Heavy Duty" Front diff Out Drive cups, and "Heavy Duty" front Cvd's, along with a full bearings from front to back, with steel 12mm wheel hexes, Are All, Heavy Duty Vaterra Twin Hammer's part's,🤔 Right now, this particular Vehicle is worth around $800.00 dollars, with everything that was put into it, not including the Hours of labor that I personally put into it,😕 I posted a high speed build video on everything that I did to this exact Wltoys 10428, feel free to check it out as well,😊👍 And there you go Connor,👍 That is how you leave a discriptive Comment, about your RC's, and plans for modification of said RC's, 😁👍 Feel free to redeem yourself Brother,👍 I won't pass judgement right away, I understand that "typos" happen, and sometimes the send button gets hit, before you have a chance to "proof read it",😕😁 Otherwise, Cool Deal with your new Wltoys,😊👍 and many thanks for checking out the video my friend.🙂😎👍👍
😄🖐️ What's happing my friend 😁👍👍 Please except my apologies for the late reply, You're comment along, with well over 1,000 other comments, were previously missing in action for the last few years, and then magically appeared yesterday evening out of the clear blue sky.🙄 So hello to you from Northern Michigan USA 🇺🇸 many thanks for checking out the video,😁🤜🤛 and please except my most sincerest apologies for the late reply.🥺🙏 Sincerely Jim C. Of R.C.A.D. 11/7/21 7:56am
I really shouldn't tell you where to buy these tires, That is,if you are planning on using them on a wltoys 10428, Then it's a really bad idea,🤔 Things will start breaking very quickly in the vehicles drive train, I would really recommend that you read some of the Viewers Comments, and my replys too those comments concerning the tires, before you go out and buy them,🤔 Moral of the story; Use these tires at your own Risk! They will eventually break your vehicle! The tires are made by "Rc4wd" they have online stores, They are called "Mud Slinger's" and the wheel size is 2.2 The wheels are made by "Proline" and they are a 3 piece bead lock,2.2 wheel Available at most online hobby stores, I don't know where you live as far as Country, But I order the bulk of my RC supplies from "Amain Hobbies" online store, Although they don't carry Anything wltoys related, Wltoys is considered a Toy Grade vehicle, And Amain Hobbies is a Hobby Grade vehicle store, Might be a good idea to check out their Crawler and Trail vehicles, while you're looking for tires,🤔 🙂👍 Thanks for your great question, And for taking the time to check out the video Igor.🙂😎👍✌️
What an awesome course! My 12428 always surprises me when on the trail. I packed some putty in both diffs and it turned into a beast. The metal gears upgrade helps too, and I also converted the steering to a bellcrank, which give me some crazy angles in tight spots. Great vid!
Much appreciated my friend for the course compliment,
and your excellent comment,
Sounds like you've got some work bench, and creativity time logged into your WLtoys,😁
great job my friend,👍
try not to be too tough on the old girl,or you will be working on the transmission next,😕
I smoked the high/low gears in the 10428's transmission,A few minutes after filming this video,😂 lol
Best of Luck Brother👍
And many thanks for checking out the video my friend 😎✌
----- Looking for the receipt / pic of the wide track tires.
I would say the best and first mod was slotting in the 5200 (hardcase) mah battery. After that it was a matter of suspension , front end linkage mods and the wide track tire set up to handle the power. A real Beast now. Has Crawler chops and super speed. And never flips
Thanks for the shout out bro like the wheel and tire combo looked like a fun time hope the family’s well 👊🏻✌🏻😬
Darn it,I forgot to mention that the wheels came from you too,😕 which was huge, many thanks Brother 👊👊
I busted out my WLtoys hydroplane rig the other day as well, just too see if it was my battery or the esc that went bad,and it's definitely the esc the VXL 3s is definitely smoked,it just chatters with absolutely no tire movement,
Thanks for the compliments,
and for watching Matt 😀👍👍🍻🍻
P.S. the family is doing great,
And I Hope all is well with your family Brother 😀
Nice driving on the track with your family and you are good on the rocks😎😎😎😎😎👍👍👍👍👍
Many Thanks Bug C 😁🎮🚙
I sure would enjoy any other videos you have of your wltoys 104 28
Click on my channel and Scroll through my videos,
I've got a few different Wltoy videos floating around.😁👍👍
Man Jim I’m in luv with that course, definitely will one day run that track with the K5. Wltoys definitely surprised me with how well it did, I give most of the credit to the driver for that, 😆 great job brotha awesome video 👍😎
😁 much appreciated brother for all the compliments,
especially the one about the driver, lol
And your always welcome to run the course Brother, even if your driving a Chevy 😁 jk
Many Thanks Stevo 😎👍👍
RC After Dark hey I’m a Ford guy but when I was a kid my dad had the same K5 that I built n painted like his, since he’s now passed away I built it in his memory, so that’s why I’ve got the K5 otherwise it would’ve been the Bronco for sure
@@STEVOD313,I was just throwing out some standard ford/chevy banter, my 1st vehicle was a 1977 Blazer, with a 4 bolt main 350,mildly massaged,it had a 3.07 ring & pinions,it was slow up to 50 mph,but was a bat out of hell from 60 mph to about 140 mph lol, but it would blow the header gaskets every time it got above about 120 mph lol,
In all reality,I'm not brand bias in any way Brother,
And it's super cool that your honoring your dad's memory with the K5 😀
Big thumbs up Brother 😎👍👍
RC After Dark oh I know how it goes when u got a ford guy n a friend who’s a Chevy or a dodge(lol) friend, it’s fun to go back n forth with what the brand name stands for FORD “First On Race Day” or “Found On Road Dead” depending on ur thoughts, but if u were to bash the Chevy it wouldn’t be so funny cus I would totally agree with u n tell u that’s the truth, 😂 one day brotha I gotta make it up there n hangout n crawl the course, my lhs is starting a indoor course n has a crawler group that I’m now a part of, on Facebook the groups r called
Anarchy off roaders
Detroit rc offroad
Fascinating to see a budget crawler actually make it round that course , brilliant footage pal ! 👍🏽
It was indeed 😁 The WLtoys vehicles aren't too bad,as long as you don't push them to far beyond their off-road comfort level, lol that's when parts start breaking 😂
The "High/Low transmission gears",stripped out on this rig the day after filming this view,
The 2.2 tire/wheel combo was too much stress for the weak WLtoys trans gears,😕
Thanks for your Awesome comment, and much appreciation for checking out the video my friend.😀👍👍
@@R.C.A.D. hello sir, loved your vídeo!
I really don't know what to tell you my friend,😕 the only thing that I had remotely close to the 12428, was my brothers Fayio Fy06,🤔 it's like a 12428 6×6, which wltoys also produces, it's just like the Fayio Fy06,except it comes with a brushed motor, Although I can't remember what it's label name is,🤔 it maybe 12628,
Anyways,😁 they all share the same Drive Train for the most part, except the 6×6's have a extra rear axle,😕 otherwise pretty much the same parts between them all,🤔 and I would have to say that all of my experiences with the building the Fy06, have turned out pretty much Useless,😕 ultimately you just can't gear the transmission low enough to handle larger tires, and the axles are another story,😕
Personally speaking,
I wouldn't put any extra money into the 12428,🤔
Maybe just take out the tire foam's for the moment, and enjoy the buggy for what it is,🙂👍 And if it turns out that you really enjoy the hobby of RC's, You can beg your parents for something better,as a Christmas or birthday gift,😁👍👍
I would recommend googling "Amain Hobbies"
and check out the crawler's that they have to offer,🙂
They are all Hobby grade Vehicle's,and they all have tons of high quality upgradeable parts available for them,🙂 Very strong parts! Compared to a wltoys or Fayio,🤔😕
I know that my advice isn't what you want to hear, But ultimately speaking, You will be really disappointed if you dump a bunch of money into the wltoys,😢 I've been there personally, and can honestly say that it's not worth it,🤔😕
Enjoy your new buggy for what it is my friend,🙂
And much appreciation for taking the time to check out the video.😎👍👍
@@R.C.A.D. thank you for your feedback! i mosly share the same opinion too!!will only do the upgrades that are worth doing like shock oil, motor heasink, silicone earplugs for locking the thing, extras 2s 1500mah "original like", aluminium servo saver, 0.9mm extenders.. i havent received it yet im tripinnnn ahahahah... the good part is all this costed less over 10€ ... shock oil i ordered one 10wt and costed 8.16€ thats the worst part ahahah.. more 4 wheels more almost 20€...
thats all i see i will do to the car.. more 5 or 10€ if needed and its good for having fun more realibily and the mechanic part of the rc is not too hard so its perfect for fun and shell queen ahahah,. THANK YOU MY FRIEND :)
Very nice crawl session.😎 👍
Fantastic course my friend and great video 👍😊👍
Thank you Tony, the course has been a summer long project, and it's still not finished lol, I have a couple more obstacles too add for icing on the cake,I'm currently trying to scrape together the materials 😁
Thanks again for the excellent comment, and for watching my friend 😀👍👍
@@R.C.A.D. your welcome my friend again an amazing course 👍😁👍
This is the coolest rock crawler course I have ever seen. I would love a go on this with my Capra.
Thanks man 😁👍
This was filmed during it's early stages, the RC Adventure Park has grown significantly since then, and now takes up about a half acre of property, and it's still growing... One day I may open it up to the public, but for right now it's only open to friends, and channel subscribers.😁
As for your Axial Capra;
It would probably do well "depending on track conditions" I periodically retune the adventure course according to vehicle abilities, "sometimes the dirt sections can get pretty darn extreme, going in-between the other Rock obstacles.😆 It can be Down right Gnarly at times! 😁
The last couple of videos I filmed out here are exactly that, "pretty gnarly" those videos are featuring our Trx4 Broncos with the Long Arm Lift kit installed and comparisons between different vehicles, and different size tires, the last video I filmed was a few days ago, and hasn't been posted just yet, but that one is my lifted bronco with deep lug paddle tracks vs my brothers bronco, with 2.2 Proline Interco TSL SX Super Swampers,🤔 Pretty interesting run,😊 That video will most likely get uploaded tomorrow or possibly Thursday.😁
Thanks for your Outstanding Compliment, and many more thanks for taking the time to check out the video.😊🙏👉🏆
@sreissing
That's Awesome 😁👍
Way to go Bro.. It's difficult to tell people that the Wltoys isn't exactly a "Hobby Grade" vehicle, and that they would be better off with something of higher quality, But I'm glad that you figured it out.😄
The Wltoys are great as a starter vehicle "there's no doubt about it, but their not exactly built for the long haul, They can be transformed into a very solid vehicle with a whole lot of money and a whole lot of Vaterra Twin Hammers parts, but that's getting to be difficult to do these days, since Vaterra is no longer in business, and the Twin Hammers parts are becoming few & far between.🙄 This Wltoys has been converted since this video, and is now dubbed the "Wltoys Green Hammer" in all of its featured videos, But it wasn't cheap to do,😕 I can't remember off the top of my head, but I think that we put about $300.00 or more into it with Vaterra Parts, "Thirty some Vaterra part bags in total, in order to make it a Rock Solid RC.
Anyways.... I do have some videos on that process "if you ever feel the need to check them out.😄 Lol
Otherwise.... Very Cool to hear about your Capra and the upcoming future Gen 8.
😁👍
Thanks for sharing Brother, and I wish you all the best my friend.😊
Woow, did not think it was that big, then the bronco came and wow that WLtoys truck is a good size hehe =)
Thats the 10248 its the 1/10 version of 12428
Very nice!
We have been trying to do some crawling with ours also.
Have you found any more tips or tricks to make it crawl better?
Why thank you my friend,😊
And thanks for checking out my channel as well,😁👍
TC 5:03-- The 2C 5200 mah upgrade (hardcase) makes it a better crawler as well with the extra power and weight. Looking forward to seeing your vid with the wide trac tires as well.
Hmm! To be completely honest Michael,I won't be doing any wide trac tire upgrades too my WLtoys,
The trans gears stripped out a few hours after filming this video, and it has been down ever since,Unfortunately, like most people,I only have so much money too throw around,And investing large sums of money, into the non hobby grade wltoys,is not exactly my first RC priority,😕
My ideas of upgrading may slightly differ from the general RC consumer,😕
Personally I would upgrade the "Entire Drive Train" Trans gears,Diff's,the whole 9 yards,
That way the vehicles drive train is at least somewhat bulletproof, and will most likely out last the vehicle itself,
Next I would rip out the WLtoys electronics, and Replace it with A hobby grade Radio,Receiver,Esc,and most importantly stronger servos,
The aftermarket Esc and servos make a gigantic difference with overall drive ability,Huge difference,Night & Day! 😊👍
And after doing some Cash Math,The grand total for all of the said upgrades, are in the neighborhood of $400.00 U.S. dollars,😨 yep! Which is also very close to the base price of many 1/10 scale Hobby Grade 4x4 Trail truck's & Crawlers,😕
And there's A lot of choices!
Back to the WLtoys,If I were too invest the 400 bucks into the wltoys,at the end of the day after the upgrades are done, the vehicle,is still Less of a vehicle, compared too the Vaterra Twin Hammers,Which could have been purchased to begin with in lieu of the WLtoys, for less than 400 bucks,😕
Currently; I have One WLtoys 10428 that has been fully converted,As well as installing a Traxxas VXL 3s Valineon brushless system,3600kv brushless motor & Esc,A Spektrum radio & receiver,A Savox sw0231mg steering servo,Mip steel drive shafts,Proline 2.8 Sand Paw paddle tires, and a bunch of life jacket foam,All for a grand total of around $1,300.00 us dollars, and got an Insane! Amphibious 4x4 Hydroplane truck, that can not only hydroplane water,But it can also Float! And if needed,it's also able too paddle it's way back too shore,😊😂
And I also still have the Blue Vaterra Twin Hammers seen in this video, which has been problem free for the entire three plus years that I've owned it,😊👍
Moral of the story;I have one 1,300 dollar WLtoys hydroplane truck, and a complete & working Twin hammers,😕 So at this point in time I don't necessarily need another one,or would rather invest the money needed too repair The green 10428 into something Different,or at least something Hobby Grade! 😕
I don't know how well you have checked out my channel content, but I did a Vaterra Twin Hammers build about 3 years ago,and also a complete side by side, part for part comparison with the WLtoys 10428a while building the Vaterra Twin Hammers,And I also voice a lot of opinions on the WLtoys at the same time, which could ultimately be heartbreaking for you too see,😞 I initially bought my 10428a in lieu of the T.H. because it was much cheaper by comparison,And mainly also due too other people's RUclips videos depicting the WLtoys as the Exact Same as the T.H.,"in Build quality" and "Reliability", but for a much lower price,And that was a Downright Lie! The T.H. is far Superior, from it's heavy duty Steel drive train, too it's completely different composit plastic,😕 After initially blowing out the drive train on my 10428a,I spent the money and upgraded it with T.H. running gear, and aftermarket electronics,And soon after that, after being extremely disillusioned by the wl RUclips vids,I decided too purchase a Vaterra T.H.,and find out the differences personally,😊and I also vowed never too by another wltoys product,😕
The green WLtoys 10428 originally belonged to a friend of mine,he bought ot shortly after I got my 10428a,And he was also not really into RC's,
About two years ago,I moved from lower Michigan, too northern Michigan, and before I moved,I made my friend a monetary offer for all of his RC's,One vintage Traxxas E-maxx,One Hpi Sprint force 2 4x4 drift car,One P.o.s. boat that I scrapped,A huge box of parts, batteries, and chargers,And the WLtoys green WL 10428,and I bought the entire lot for 400 buck's,😕 so technically it came with everything else, and I didn't consider it as outright buying a WLtoys,😂 lol
That thing has actually been in quite a few videos over the last three years,it actually had a Green Jeep Wrangler body on it for a couple of years,I actually removed the jeep body and put the stock plastic back on the wl a few weeks before filming this video,😊
Anyways again lol not too burst your bubble, but my WLtoys will most likely be down for awhile,😲
I do Sincerely appreciate your great comments, and for checking out my channel,But WLtoys RC's are not in my future, money is better spent elsewhere!,And I sincerely wish you all the best of luck with your WLtoys Brother,😊
I just figured that I would be better off telling you about my true WLtoys fealings,vs blowing smoke up your backside about WLtoys products, like the majority of other RUclips channels would.😕 I pride myself on being honest, and not steering others in the wrong direction,Hence my somewhat brutal honesty towards WLtoy products,😕
Don't get me wrong,I'm not trying to steer you away from my channel,But rather steer you away from the WL and maybe towards a quality hobby grade vehicle instead,
Hopefully you aren't too upset & can maybe understand how difficult it was for me too type this out, knowing that you weren't going to like what I had too say about WLtoys,
😕 it can be tuff sometimes for me too explain it too people, without totally destroying there feelings, that there WLtoys is gonna let them down in a big way before too long,And the only way too really make it reliable, is too invest around 400 buck's in aftermarket parts,
And for that price you could either just upgrade too a hobby grade rig,or just buy 3 more wl 10428's,and use the broken one's for parts,😕
Either way,WLtoys are a waste of money,😞
Sorry for the tuff pill Michael,
If you decide too leave my channel because of it,I would totally understand, even though ultimately I'm trying too help you,by not wasting any more money on the wl,
I mean for 300 buck's you could get a RedCat Gen 8,and it's 10x the vehicle compared too the WL,Check out Amain hobbies online store, and look at the Crawlers that are available, and leave eBay & Bangood, out of your RC shopping criteria 😊👍
Hopefully you get the gest of what I'm saying 😕 and Hopefully you don't unsubscribe my channel,
As I will be Giving Away Two 1/10 scale, hobby grade, rtr trail trucks at the 2,500 sub mark, and that could be a chance for a totally free hobby grade RC,😊
Sorry for the tuff meat Brother, and once again I hope that you can appreciate my honesty in this matter. 😕😎👍👍
@@R.C.A.D. --- I have been up and down that front tranny. If you have any questions ........

i just bought this but i got the 1/10 and it will be my first rc and after watching this video im toooottally making a ob coarse like this, this is awesome ,,,i did not even think of this
This is also the 1/10 version 👍👍
"Wltoys 10428" the "10" stand's for 1/10 scale,👍
If it was a 12428, then it would be the 1/12 scale version,🙂
So basically, we have the same vehicle 😄👍👍
Thanks for your Awesome Compliment, and for taking the time to check out the video my friend,😎👍
And I wish you all the Best on building a adventure course of you're own Max.🙂👍👍
@@R.C.A.D. awww hellz yea man you know it!
Hmm batteries, They don't make the one that I run anymore, it's a Duratrax Onyx 5700 mAh 45c 7.4v 2s lipo soft pack battery, with a Dean's or "T style" connector, and it fits in there pretty darn good,🤔
I think that I even did a video about it Back in the day, probably in one of my early wltoys 10428a, or Twin Hammer's videos,
I run the same type of battery in both vehicles,
And my truck will run for over Two hours Easy,😁
Never had it even hit the low voltage cutoff,🤔😁
@@R.C.A.D. ok awesome thanks a bunch for the tip man ill make a search for any brand with those specs and the connector, appreciate it! ill look up that vid too.I think for my next rc im going to go for a monster 6th scale perhaps as well haha, i want a beasty :D
@@R.C.A.D. ok so i found a "ZOP Power 7.4V 5000mAh 45C 2S Lipo Battery T Plug for 1/10 RC Racing Car" or a "ZOP Power 7.4V 6000mAh 45C 2S Lipo Battery T Plug for HPI 1/8 RC Car" but not sure how the ladder will fit but these are similar to your specs, also i see a "ZOP Power 7.4V 4000mAh 45C 2S Lipo Battery T Plug for RC Car" in the listings but the first one definitely seems like my best bet.thanks again dude.also there is a promo for these models right now buy 3 get 10% off so i may just do that,,ill have the juice to run this badboy all day lol
Excellent very good course !! Great video !!
Thank you sir 😀👊👊✌
Thanks Pascal 😀
I'm always honered with your views, and comments my friend 😎
😊👍👍
DO U THINK THE TIRE OF YOUR RC WILL FIT THE WLTOY 12428 ?
Sure it will fit, But they Will make quick work of you're Transmission Gear's, ☹️
A stock 10428 can't handle those tires for more than a hour or two, So I imagine that the 12428 would be toast in a matter of minutes.🤔😕
I wouldn't recommend it.
Thanks for your Great Question, and for checking out the video Ewin.😊👍
Nice rc and trial course though
Another great day at the course I see 😃 Man that thing does pretty good, very impressed with it. Of course the pro driver helps 😉 👌🏻👍🏻
It was surprising to see how much better the buggy did with bigger tires, climbing the teeter totter in rear wheel drive blu my mind 😮
It definitely impressed me,especially with a open front differential,it was much better than it's previous attempts,
Thanks for the Great compliment's,and for watching Bill 😁👊👊🍻
@@R.C.A.D. Can you please tell me what you mean by "open front differential"? Thank you
Sure Nico,😊👍
"Open Differential" vs "A Locked Differential"
The internal mechanic's are tough to explain, but here is a simplified answer that's easier to understand,😊 "Locked Differential" means that the axle is more, or less, solid across the board, because the Differential is Mechanically Locked, "meaning that both tire are spinning no matter what"
And a "Open Differential" is not solid, it has a Actual Differential, between both the left & right axle shaft,
And it will shift the power output, from one side to the other, depending on which tire is getting the least amount of traction, and the tire with the least amount of traction, or least amount of drag, is the one that will get the power,🤔 which means that if you have one tire in the air, and one tire on the ground, the tire that is in the air, is the tire that will get all the power, and the tire that is one the ground, will essentially have absolutely no power, like being in neutral,😕 not spinning!
One Wheel Peel! Or a Peg Leg! Like when you see someone in the Real world, who's doing a burnout in there Car,🤔 if they leave Two strips of rubber on the ground, that means that they either have a Locked Differential, or a Limited Slip Differential,
But if they only leave One strip of rubber on the ground, Then it means, that they have a Open Differential,😕👎 which is not preferred by most people who know better,
And is also what the majority of full size production Vehicle's are equipped with,😕
Nobody likes a One wheel peel, it's not very impressive on the street, and even less than impressive Off-road 🤔
Most Off-road enthusiasts prefer either "locked diffs", "lockable diffs", or a very good Limited Slip Differential,😊👍
Open Differential = One wheel peel, the tire with the least Resistance, is the tire that Receives the power,😭
And it's a Real Bummer! ☹️
Hopefully this was a easy to understand explanation,😊
For more information, I would suggest Googling, what the difference is between a Open Differential, and a Locked Differential,😊👍
Thanks for your Awesome Question Nico,😊👍👍
And many more for checking out the video my friend.😁🤜🤛
@@R.C.A.D. Hey!!! That was quite an answer! Sweet. ;) I was not expecting such a detailed reply with all those explainations. It may also help others. Thank you! :)
😊🤜🤛 no problem Brother 👍👍
Hi there im new to the rc hobby and just ordered this model but I know some parts may broke after some times of bad use but I take really good care of my things and Im asking you if crowling slowlly like that may preserve the parts longer then bashing full trottle over bumps at full speed haha
Welcome too the RC hobby my friend 😀👍
WLtoys in all reality, are a very good introductory RC,They are pretty close to hobby grade vehicles in offroad performance, and far superior too lesser vehicles in the same price range, like New Bright, and if you ordered a "1/10 scale" WLtoys 10428 model, and not a 12428 which is 1/12 scale, then your in luck, because the Vaterra Twin Hammers Heavy Duty steel transmission gears, and front differential will drop right into the WLtoys trans, and diff case,😁👍 But that whole process can get kinda pricey, and your almost better off buying a hobby grade vehicle at that point, especially if you're enjoying the hobby,
As for what kind of driving will do the least amount of damage between crawling & bashing;well that's debatable, lol The WLtoys 10428's are relatively tough when it comes to a general beating, the plastic is like a Rubbermaid garbage can,"super flexible"so most of those parts well hold up too whatever you throw at it,the drive train is the real weak spot,"Mainly the high/low trans gears, and the entire front drive train",A high speed pass over cobble stone would ultimately be less detrimental then having the rig bound up while crawling between the rocks,😕 Rolling over rough terrain, with the drive train rolling in a free state,is easier on the vehicle then the extreme torque that's being applied too the drive train, while trying too slowly spin the tires up,and over obstacles,😕 so in the end it's debatable as too which is more detrimental,😂 lol
Unfortunately some parts will most likely start too fail almost immediately, and that is due too WLtoys, the first thing you will notice will be squeaky bearings, second will be the plastic wheel hexes, and third is the shift servo, the one in my 10428a quit working on the second day,and the shift servo on the one in the video lasted about two weeks,😕 and no other manufacturers servos jive with WLtoys,so if you want to upgrade your servos, you will have to replace everything, all of the electronics, including the transmitter,Chaa Ching$$$$
All I can really suggest is to drive it sensibly, don't be afraid to have fun,but at the same time keep a careful eye on your drive train while crawling, and know when to say when, when it comes to torquing the drive line,😕 nothing ruins a fun time like hearing the crunch of breaking drive train parts,😭
I sincerely wish you all the best my Brother, many thanks for your great comment, and for checking out the video,😎👊👊 and another Big Welcome to the RC hobby my friend 😀👍👍
Have u ever found a way to help with the front wheel pickup ?
Well unfortunately that lift is from Torque Twist, and there's not much that you can do about,🤔😕 But there is a way to shave it down a little,🤏 And that is by adding a set of Vaterra Twin Hammer's Sway bars front and rear,🤔 The Wltoys 10428 is basically a Clone of the Twin Hammer's, and the Wltoys 10428 is equipped with the same "Sway bar mounts" molded into the chassis,👍
The only problem, is going to be getting your hands on the Vaterra Twin Hammer's Sway bars, along with all of the mounting hardware that goes along with them,😕
The problem is that Vaterra stopped production on the Twin Hammer's back in 2012, and they are completely out of business today,🤔😭 which is very sad 😢 And also the reason that it's going to be Tuff to get your hands on a set of Vaterra Twin Hammer's Sway bars, 😕 "Part's availability" is very few and far between these days.😭
Thanks for your great question, and for checking out the video Reese 😊👍
That course is rad! I too dabble in the cheap knock off crawlers. I have the mn99s and I will say I've got my 50 bucks worth out of it and after a few mods it's surprisingly capable. However, I can see what you mean by the knock offs costing more in the long run. I've upgraded to metal drive shafts after the plastic ones snapped, but I know something else is gonna brake now, that was just the weakest link. Anyways, awesome video. Definitely gonna subscribe.
Hmm! 😕 I like your style my friend,Obviously you had paid attention to the video, and also took the time to read some of the comments,🙂👍 I'm kinda blown away by it,🤯
The majority of viewers breeze through the videos, missing important things that I may have said,
And then leave a comment, without reading any of the previous comments,Which possibly could have answered there question, without having to leave a comment,😕 "It's just a general lack of common sense, really" 🙄
But you Sir have surprised me,Kinda made my night!
I'm very impressed,🙂👍
And the fact that you already know, that the next weakest link is at risk after upgrading the drive shafts,
is also Good to hear,😃👍
No lectures required!😂
Thanks for your Awesome Track compliments, and Downright Outstanding comment Alex, Have a great night Brother,😎👊👊👍👍
Well I can honestly say that none of the Cloned vehicles are built off of the exact same blueprint of the originals,🤔 especially when it comes to the quality of the parts themselves,😕
I was told the same thing about the wltoys,Someone on RUclips had a video doing a side by side Comparison with the Twin Hammer's,and the 10428,
And he had said that they were Exactly the same,He even went as far to say, that he did a chemical tests on the plastic, and that there was no difference between the two,🤔 And that the wltoys, was the exact same vehicle, but for a lower price,😕 All Lie's!
Absolutely nothing was true, about what he was saying,Nothing!
I did my own side by side Comparison,"From the ground up" and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see the obvious differences, between the two vehicles,🤔 it's plane as day,That the plastic is different, Vaterra has much more fibere'es material in the plastic, and it's much stronger than the wltoys plastic,And the difference between the type of steel that's used in the gears is staggering,
Vaterra uses hardend steel, and wltoys is using some kind of pop metal,
And it's pretty much the same with all of the Rest of the Cloned vehicles,😕
That is why they are Significantly cheaper to purchase, then purchasing the Real Deal,🤔
The clones start out cost effective,But they more than make up for it in repairs, and will ultimately cost you more money bin the long run, than buying something of quality to begin with,🤔
Just save your money for awhile,"there's no hurry"
And who knows what other new vehicles may be released in the process of saving money,😕
Ultimately it's your decision my friend!
But personally speaking,
I wouldn't waste anymore money on Cloned vehicles,
Don't believe the Clone Hipe! It is all lies! 🤔
Save your money for something that will actually last my friend, and you will be Much more Happier with your purchase decision 😉👍
Save your loot $ Brother!
It's totally worth it! 🙂✌️
@@R.C.A.D. Thanks for the opinions man, really appreciate it. I'm also rounding up parts and building a crawler from scratch. I'm just being impatient I guess hahaha.
I can totally understand the inpatient factor 😊👍
I'm the same way 😂
Hi! That is such a nice course!! Does this motor come with a 2 speed gearbox stock? Or did you throttle trim it way down to crawl? Thanks!
What's up Matthias 😊👍
And Many Thanks for your Awesome Compliments Cousin 😁🙏
As for the Wltoys 10428;
It comes with a 2 speed transmission, and in this video, I had it "mechanically locked" into low range, that way it couldn't "accidentally" jump into high range,🤔😕 I do that with all of my "Vaterra Twin Hammer's" Type vehicles, which is what the Wltoys 10428 is based on, the Wltoys 10428 is a Clone of the Vaterra Twin Hammer's,
Which unfortunately is no longer available for purchase,🤔😒 Vaterra quit production on the Twin Hammer's back in like 2012, and then they went out of business all together in like 2019,😭 which is a Total Bummer! Because Vaterra Twin Hammer's part's are the only way to make a Wltoys 10428 bullet proof, otherwise the Wltoys 10428 is reduced to a cheap off the shelf Toy Grade RC vehicle,😒 where as the Vaterra Twin Hammer's is a "Rock Solid" Hobby Grade RC vehicle, "Toy Grade vs Hobby Grade"
And as far as this Wltoys 10428 is concerned,🤔 it blew it's transmission about 45 minutes after this video,😭 the Rc4wd 2.2" Mud Slinger tires proved to be Too much rotating mass! Which resulted in completely stripping out the the Plastic Transmission Gear's,😒 Too much Rotating mass!
Anyways... It's been a few years since that had happened, and this vehicle has been completely Revamped since then,😕 It's currently more Vaterra Twin Hammer's then it is wltoys,🤔 as a matter of fact... the only thing that is still wltoys, Is the Body, the Main chassis, and the Front & Rear shocks,🤔 Everything else, and I do mean Everything! is Vaterra Twin Hammer's part's,🤔
Twin Hammer's Transmission Case, Front diff housing, Rear Axle housing, Front Control arm's, Uprights and End link's, Heavy Duty Hardened Steel Transmission Gear's, Heavy Duty Hardened Steel Front Out-drive cups, Cvd shaft's, and Wheel spindles, Heavy Duty Hardened Steel Front & Rear "Helical Cut" Ring & Pinion Gear's with a Heavy Duty Hardened Steel Diff locker's, Heavy Duty Hardened Steel Rear Axle shafts, Along with Axial AE5 ESC, a Spektrum 5 channel receiver, A Savox sw0231mg waterproof steering servo,(no shift servo, the Trans is mechanically locked into low range) Running custom LED lights throughout the body, with a Rc4wd wired winch controller as a light switch,😆 lol a Rc4wd 27t brushed motor, with a 23t 48p pinion gear, and a Team Losi Kevlar 78t 48p Spur Gear on the Transmission, (Fyi the Team Losi Kevlar Spur Gear's that I'm using range in several different sizes, and they will also fit on a stock wltoys transmission) note; those Kevlar Spur Gear's are almost stronger than a Steel Spur Gear, except that the are much quieter than a Steel Spur Gear, And they are Way way.... Stronger than the stock wltoys plastic spur gear,😁👍
Which you wouldn't necessarily have to worry about unless you tried to install a Brushless motor motor into a stock wltoys 10428,🤔😕 Which you wouldn't necessarily want to do with a stock wltoys 10428 to begin with, since a brushless motor would most likely Churn All of the Stock Gear's into Butter 🧈 😂 lol Don't do that! 😆👌
And then we topped everything off with a set of Green Aluminum Boom Racing Sandstorm Krait 1.9 Beadlock wheels, with a set of Rc4wd 1.9 Interco Irok tires.😁👍
It's currently dubbed as the "Wltoys Green Hammer" in my video library, and it also belongs to my older brother, I gave him the vehicle, and then I Built it into it's "current bullet proof status" as a Birthday gift for him. 😁👍
Fyi... I did that build a few years ago, which was shortly after Vaterra went completely out of business,🤔😕 this is difficult to explain but please bear with me,😕 Vaterra quit production on the Twin Hammer's back in 2012, Then they went completely out of business in 2019,🤔
What I'm trying to say is that the All of the Vaterra part's that are required to do a "bullet proof build" on a Wltoys 10428 are no longer available,😕😭 I built my first bullet proof 10428 back in 2016, and at that time the Vaterra Twin Hammer's part's where everywhere online, and you could even get a Full Vaterra Twin Hammer's Kit if you wanted to,😕 And then I Built "this" Wltoys 10428 back in like
June of 2019 or 2020 can't remember off the top of my head, but the moral of the story is that I had one Hell of a time trying to find all of the Required parts for the Conversion,🤔😕 the most difficult part's to find where the front King pins for the front Uprights, which is required if you want to run the Vaterra Twin Hammer's H.D. front CVD shafts, you see the Wltoys has slightly longer front control arms, and slightly longer front suspension travel,vs the Twin Hammer's, so if you want to do the "full conversion" then you will need to swap out the front control arms and other related components to go along with it,🤔😕 and those front King pins are almost impossible to find,at least they were when I built this thing a few years ago, so I would imagine by now in 2022 that it would be Completely impossible to find all of the required parts to do a "Full bullet proof conversion" 😕
Now that being said.. there is still a few lingering Twin Hammer's part's that are still available,🤔 which consists of the Front/Rear Diff Gear's, Transmission Gear's, Rear axle shafts,Front Out-drive cups, and all of the plastic housing's,😕 along with the Team Losi Kevlar Spur Gear's, "Team Losi is still currently in business" But the Vaterra Twin Hammer's front CVD shafts, Lower Front control arms, Uprights and King pins are going to be Difficult to Totally impossible to get ahold of.😭😕
Grand total on a Complete "Bullet Proof" build, such as the one I did for this vehicle, is pretty darn expensive,🤔
Figure the initial vehicle price, and then another $300.00 - $450.00 us dollars on top of the initial vehicle price for all of the required items.😕
At the end of the day.. it's much more Cost Effective in the long run, to forget about a Wltoys 10428 all together, and to purchase a "Hobby Grade" RC vehicle to begin with,😁👍 it may cost a few more dollars to purchase in the beginning, But it will cost you Far.... Less in the future,😁 meaning that it will last much longer than a Wltoys product,😄👍 I'm not being sponsored by anyone or anything, But I would suggest Googling "Amain Hobbies" and looking at there Gigantic"Hobby Grade" RC inventory before you decide to purchase a Wltoys product.😁👍
Why am I telling you all of this information you ask ?
Well. I know that you didn't ask about all this info, But since my last name is also "Campbell" I decided to go the extra step for you Brother.😄👍🤜🤛
Thanks again for your great question Matthias,😊🙏 and many more thanks for checking out the video.
😊🤜🤛
Sincerely; James Campbell of RC After Dark 2/16/22 2:56am eastern standard time.
Awesome. My wltoys should be arriving any day. Is there not any rub on the Tires and the body with this 2.2's?
Congratulations on your purchase my friend 😎👍
And yes the tires do rub up front, but only at full turn, and it's not terrible,I feel as though the little bit of rub is worth it for the difference in performance,
Thanks for the Great question, and thanks for watching my friend 😀👊👊
Parabéns pelo vídeo, comprei um desse, só que as rodas da suspenção dianteira vieram abertas! Sabe dizer o porquê?
🙂👍👍
Nice! The wltoys did better than I thought it was going to do. By the way, if I said I wasn't just a little bit jealous(in a good way) of your course I'd be lying through my teeth!
The taller tires definitely helped it through the course,
I personally couldn't believe it climbed the teeter totter,
"especially since it was two wheel drive at that point"
I'll be totally honest my Bronco only makes it up about 70% of the time, with all the diff's locked, otherwise it just sits at the bottom, and spins it's tires, which is mainly do to it's tires,my brothers Bronco makes it up every time, but it's sporting proline 1.9 XL super swampers,I have to say that those Rc4wd Mud Slingers are some of my all-time favorite tires, they seem to perform well in just about every terrain situation, and they have a soft compound too boot, that and they are also some of the smallest 2.2's that you can find,"only being 4.88 inches in outer diameter" they are about a 1/4 of an inch taller then the 1.9xl Swampers, which makes them a feasible 1.9 alternative
without worrying about having too much tire to stuff under the fenders, and they are also extremely cost-effective usually less than $25.00 us dollars for a set of two,
And I'm rambling again lol
Thanks again Brother for the Awesome course compliments, and for watching my friend 😀
Thanks for the info on the tires I will keep that in mind when buying some!
But I sincerely do not recommend running 2.2 tires on your WLtoys,"and I've told this to many people",The WLtoys drive train Can Not Handle the extra rotating mass of the bigger tires, and it won't take long before you start experiencing parts failures,
The first to go will be the plastic wheel hexes,if replaced with aluminum hexes, the next item will be the hex pins, then the front cvd pins, then the front outdrive cups, then the high/low gears in the transmission,
The point is,that it's going to start falling apart in a big way,
and for the price that it will cost you to upgrade everything,is almost equal to buying a brand new Vaterra Twin Hammers, which is a far superior vehicle to the WLtoys,😕
The WLtoys will last much longer,if you don't put anything larger than a 1.9 tire on it,
Many thanks for the Great comment, and for checking the video,I wish you all the Best with your rig Brother.😎👊👊👍👍
Thank you for the quick reply. Will take all of your advice as I'm a newbie when it comes to r/c cars & trucks and still learning. Thanks for the good job!!!
My pleasure Brother, that's the bad part about posting this video,I've been discouraging all kinds of people from putting 2.2's on their 10428's ever since,😕 I stripped out my transmission gears the next day on that rig,and I was just goofing around on a sand hill with it,not beating it up either, was just climbing the hill,The combination of the deep sand, and the larger tires, was too much torque for the WLtoys trans gears,
Good luck once again my friend, and feel free to ask as many questions as you want,I'm always more than happy too help if I'm able.😀👍
What mods do you have on this or is it stock beside the big wheels. I have a 12428 and wanna do some stuff too it eventually
This is a wltoys "10428"
Which is 1/10 scale, the "12428" is 1/12 scale,
And other than the tires, this "10428" is completely stock!
Thanks for checking out the video Stacy 🙂
did you lock the diffs in this run? do you recommend locking diffs for a pure crawler? I hear just rear or some say rear and front.
It had a open front Differential in this video,👍
As for locking the front Differential; Well to be totally honest, in order for it to be a half way decent Crawler, they really should have the front Differential locked, The only problem with that, is that the wltoys can't really handle having the front Differential locked,
And it will start a chain reaction of drive train destruction,🤔 if you're not very careful about crawling with it, Meaning that it's kind of a Fragile Crawler,
Unless you go with a Full steal drive train on all of the Internal gears, and front cvd's, I used to recommend that Wltoys people do a full Vaterra Twin Hammer's drive train upgrade, But unfortunately the Twin Hammer's has been discontinued for a few years now, And it's Heavy Duty steal drive train parts, are becoming very hard to find,🤔 I just finished doing the conversion to this wltoys yesterday, Full Vaterra Twin Hammer's conversion,😊 and it was to the tune, of about
$300.00+ US dollars,🤔
Which is roughly double the price of a stock wltoys 10428,🙄😕 so it's not exactly a cheap conversion,
But the difference after the upgrades, is Night & Day,
Darn near bulletproof,🤔
And although you didn't ask, the one upgrade that I don't recommend is, Adding any kind of aluminum suspension link upgrades, that you see everywhere online,🤔 it's not needed, the stock wltoys axle links, and suspension components, are very tuff,
And something else to keep in mind about aluminum upgrades, is that Aluminum doesn't slide over Rock's as well as Plastic does,😊👍
Plastic slides over Rock,
And Aluminum grabs rock like it was Velcro,🤔 total waste of money, unless you are building a shelf queen,
Now when it comes to Wltoys Manufacturer parts;
There is some Wltoys part's websites that do sell Full steal transmission Gear's, and some other upgrade parts, So there is some Wltoys part's that you can find to upgrade the drive train, But the only real way to make it Tuff as Nails,
is with a full Vaterra Twin Hammer's conversion,🙄
Now there is some stuff that you can do to your front Differential to make it better, without actually locking the Differential,🤔
And that's to add some 1 million WT or 1.5 million WT Differential oil, to the inside of the front Differential "diff cup" the extremely thick viscosity of the heavy oil has a benefit of slowing down the Differential from wanting to shift the power from one wheel to the other, and essentially acts like a Limited Slip Differential,🤔
Which is much Friendlier on the front drive train, and the wltoys will last much longer, vs straight locking the front Differential,🤔
And the only way to make it air quotations "bulletproof"
Is with a full Vaterra Twin Hammer's conversion,🙄
Which requires 21 different Vaterra Twin Hammer's part bags to complete,🤔😕
And once again those parts are getting very difficult to find, I actually had to get some of the parts from eBay, to finish up this vehicle, Most of the parts can be ordered through Amain Hobbies website,
But the front cvd's, and some other parts needed to be found elsewhere, And those front cvd's are one of the most important things to upgrade,🤔😕
If you really want your wltoys to last, then you should probably leave it in stock form,🙄
Once you start upgrading individual parts, other parts will start to fail, until either you upgrade everything, or through in the towel,🤔
Which is why I used to recommend the Vaterra conversion, Because wltoys doesn't make all the parts that you are going to need in order to properly upgrade the vehicle to bulletproof status,🤔😕😊👍
Hopefully my rambling was helpful, and thanks for checking out the video my friend.😎👍👍
@@R.C.A.D. yes that was awesome thanks! ill check out that conversion and gonna buy some 1 mil weight fluid!
EKSELENT WIDEO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
😊🙏 👉🏆
That is a great course tha ks for Sharing.
And thank you for your great Compliment my friend.😁😎👍👍
I just bought one of these but has a 2-3 second delay going from forward to reverse. If i go forward then push trigger to reverse it stalls then i have to pump the trigger again to reverse .. is this normal? Cheers
Yep 😕 That's exactly how the wltoys stock ESC works,
It's a bit of a bummer,☹️ But at least it's got a engine break on it,😁👍 better than nothing, and it's not bad after you get used to it,😕
I have replaced my stock Electronics with a hobby grade system, And ultimately, it's probably one of the best Upgrades that you can do to it,😁
I'm running a Spektrum radio, Spektrum Receiver, Axial AE5 esc, with a Savox sw 0231mg steering servo,
I also eliminated the shift servo, and manually locked the transmission into low range using Zip ties. 😂👍
But the ESC and stronger steering servo make a Huge difference, 😁👍 If you get to the point where your servos quit working, I highly recommend swapping out all of the Electronics at that point.😊
Thanks for your great question, and for taking the time to check out the video Jake.😊👍🤜🤛
I've been wanting to make mine a crawler. What motor are you runningm
Running a Cheap $10.00 dollar, Rc4wd 27t 540 👍
Thanks for your great Question, and for taking the time to check out the video Chad.😊👍👍
No problem, I have a spare 550 20t crawler motor, any idea if it would fit? Or do the 540 motors have enough torque not to need a 550?
A 540 will get the job done, but a 550 would also fit,
But you need to be careful, the stock Transmission Gear's may prematurely strip out from the extra torque,🤔 possibly the same thing with the Spur gear too,🙄😕
Oh, good point. Thanks for the insight
Bro i absolutely loved that video but i have a question how much speed do you have it to go i mean from the controller
Many Thanks for your Awesome Compliment Brother,😁👍
As for your question;hmm I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to ask,
When I'm on the Crawler course,I'm just creeping, barely giving it any throttle, just enough to keep forward momentum.
As for the vehicles top speed;
It has a two speed transmission,In high gear,on flat ground,it would probably top out at about 20 too 25 mph,😕
Hopefully the info was helpful,
Thanks again for your great questions, and compliment,
And much appreciation for checking out the video my friend.😀😎👍👍
Thanks for the information but i mean how much trim speed do you give it i mean that little circle on the control i really don’t know how to explain it.My bad that you cant understand.Btw i saw you answer in a comment below that locking your front diff will give you problems is it the same with rear diffs?
As for trim speed; It's set at zero,or neutral,
As for the rear diff;if it's a 10428 or 10428a the rear diff should already be locked,if it's a 10428b then it's unlocked,
If it is a 10428b,then locking the rear diff would be o.k.,
As for the front differential;you are definitely asking for problems if you lock it up,all kinds of expensive problems, the only thing that you can really do to the front diff without worrying about breaking stuff,is using a extremely heavy oil in the front differential itself, too help slow it down, and make it less likely too slip, essentially turning it into a limited slip differential,😕
RC After Dark 1 more question i have a wltoys 12428 you said its ok with 10428 is it fine with my model??
No! Nope! Nada! Defiantly Not!
The 10428's are 1/10 scale and the 12428's are 1/12 scale, they are two completely different animals,I wouldn't do anything to the 12428 except cross my fingers that it runs probably free in stock form long enough to get your money worth out of it,
and if it breaks, then cut your losses, and put it off to the side for a parts vehicle,
not too sound mean, but there's not much hope for a 12428,the entire drive train is ultra weak, and there's not much you can do too beaf it up,😕
If you like the hobby, and enjoy that style chassis,I would whole hearted recommend that you look at Horizon hobbies website, and look at getting a "Vaterra" Twin Hammers, they make a RTR,
and a Kit version, the Kit version is the one I would recommend,it comes with a bunch of Heavy Duty steel drive train parts, that the RTR version does not,I personally own a Kit version twin hammers, and have had it for almost three years,I've done a bunch of videos with it,beat the heck out of it,gave it too my 10 year old neice, and she has been beating it up for a year, and the vehicle has never experienced any problems of any kind, other then replacing the motor,we ran the brushes down from using it so much,😁 the twin hammers is almost exactly the same as a 10428,except the twin hammers is made from high quality materials, and the WLtoys are not.😕
Sorry for the mix up on vehicles my friend, and best of luck with the 12428 Brother

Nice 😁👍👍
I just recently rejuvenated my Wltoys 10428a Hydroplane truck, Since I no longer live in a area that is conducive for a Hydroplane truck, I removed my Traxxas VXL 3s brushless system, changed out the 76t Kevlar spur gear & the 43t pinion gear, removed the Proline 2.8 Sand Paw paddle tires, and Converted it back into a Crawler 😂👍 I installed a Rc4wd 27t brushed motor, a 78t "Team Losi" Kevlar spur gear & 21t steel pinion gear, a set of 1.9 Rc4wd Interco Irok's, And a Axial AE5 esc, to get everything moving,😁
That truck has been sitting on a shelf for the last two,or more, years. It's almost like having a brand new vehicle again lol 😅
Is there a video about that 10428a? ^^

Nice! 😀👍
I totally recommend reading all of the comments & more importantly my replys too those comments, most of your questions, and more! will be answered.😊
As for the battery; The stock battery works quite well, and is generally good for about 45 minutes of run time,I actually use two of them in my Kyosho Blizzard,😁 but as for the battery that I use,It's a Discontinued "Duratrax Onyx"
5,700 mah 7.4v 35c 2s Soft Pack Lipo,and it barely fits!
It actually requires a Aluminum spur gear cover,"because of the batteries larger size" part of the battery ends up resting on top of the spur gear cover,The battery weight, will push or flex the stock plastic spur gear cover into the spur gear itself, hence the aluminum cover! 😊 lol
Congratulations on your purchase! And Much appreciation for your great questions & checking out the video my friend.😎👍👍
P.S. make sure too read all the comments & replys 😀

great, wltoys 12428 I like it 😍
Many thanks for your great compliment but it's actually a Wltoys 10428 😕 Ten not Twelve.. which is a Honest Mistake.😄
The Wltoys 10428 is 1/10 scale, And the 12428 is 1/12 scale, which basically means that the 10428 is slightly larger all the way around vs the 12428.😉👍
Feel free to Cruse through my videos if you would like to see more of that Buggy in action, This video was filmed a few years ago, and the Wltoys 10428 is a totally different machine these days, I basically Customized the hell out of it, and it's truly a "one of a kind" Wltoys 10428, And there's not another like it anywhere in the world.😊
Many thanks once again for your great compliment, and many more thanks for checking out the video my friend.😁👍🤜🤛
Sweet video bro looks sweet,Thinking of getting one of these but besides the tires is everything else stock?
Thanks for the Great comment, and compliments my friend,😁 And yes! Other than the tires, the vehicle is completely stock,👍
As for purchasing a WLtoys 10428; Well I personally wouldn't ever by another WLtoys 10428,😕 And would normally suggest getting the Real version of this vehicle,Which is the Vaterra "Twin Hammers" the "WLtoys & Fayiu" versions, are Cheap Clones of the real version,😕
For instance I've owned my Vaterra Twin Hammers for over 3 years,It's seen 10x as much abuse as the WLtoys, and has never experienced any issues of any sort,The WLtoys on the other hand has been extremely costly, and I happen to own two of them, the green 10428 in this video is still stock, but it needs a new transmission,The 2.2 tires were too much rotating mass, and destroyed the trans gears a few hours after this video,😕
My WLtoys 10428a had the same issues, and I replaced the entire drive train, with Vaterra Twin Hammers "Heavy Duty" Steel transmission gears, differentials, out drive cups, front cvd's,and Mip steel drive shafts,As well as replacing all of the electronics, with a Spektrum radio, receiver,a Savox sw0231mg steering servo, and a Axial AE5 esc,😕 for a grand total of around $300.00 us dollars, not including the initial vehicle price,😒 Which brings me back too my original statement of Getting a twin hammers vs the WLtoys,Ultimately it's more cost effective in the long run, vs trying too upgrade, and or cross convert the WLtoys,😕
But unfortunately the onslaught of Clone vehicles,is probably ultimately responsible for Vaterra stopping production of the Twin Hammers,Not enuff Sales!
Everyone will be driving Volkswagen's,with no choice of a quality RC in sight,😲
Anyways lol, I personally would recommend getting something of hobby grade quality,vs getting a WLtoys product, and helping the clone RC movement,😕
Amain Hobbies has a great online store, with probably one of the largest selections of RC vehicles,😊👍 Not being sponsored,Just a suggestion for a outstanding Hobby shop,

Right on Brother! 😊👍
Fyi the 12428 is even Crappier then the 10428,😕 the 12428 is very similar too the Fayiu Fy06 6x6,basically the same trans and drive train,I also happen to own a fy06 and can honestly tell you that it's terrible! Hi. Is this 12428 model? How do you drive it that slow? Your skill or some mod? Great video btw.
That is a WLtoys 10428,And driving it that slow is pure throttle control & skill,
The only mods on the vehicle are aluminum wheel hexes, instead of the stock plastic hexes, and the 2.2 tires,
Otherwise it's completely stock,😕 And I Do Not Recommend 2.2 tires on a WLtoys 10428,It Will Destroy the Transmission gears! No if's,and's,or but's about it.

my wltoys is 1/12 how do you get those tires to fit is yours the 1/10 size ? does the 1/10 have the 12 mm hex or is this a mod? I gest noticed the video is two years old. sorry
No worry's Terry,👍 This is the 10428 1/10, had 12mm plastic hexes, and then I replaced those with Aluminum hexes,😕 usually that's the first stage for setting up the wltoys to break, "it's the weakest link"
Afterwards, it will start breaking parts further down the line, and Everytime you upgrade a weak link, something else will break, and so on, and so on,🤔
I blew the transmission on this one a few hours after this video,😂 Which was a direct result of the 2.2 tires, too much rotating mass for the trans gears to handle,🤔 I actually just gave that buggy to my brother last week for a birthday gift,We have a huge stack of brand new Vaterra Twin Hammer's part's, that are getting ready to go in it,😊 up coming videos and whatnot 👍
I also recently revamped my Wltoys 10428a as well, it started out stock, then I made it into a totally amphibious floating Rock Crawler, and then I did a full Twin Hammer's part's conversation on it, and added a Traxxas VXL 3s 3600kv Brushless Motor and ESC, and turned it into a 75+ mph totally amphibious Brushless hydroplane truck,😂👍 and then it sat on a shelf for two years, and I just converted it back to a "normal brushed motor" Rock Crawler again,😁👍 new video coming soon on that one too,😊
Thanks for your great question Terry, and much appreciation for taking the time to check out the video Brother.😎👊👊
Cheers V. much!!
Well that was over two years ago,And I'm not even sure if you can still get a set of steel Twin Hammer's transmission gears anymore,I know that they are getting to be few and far between,Since "Vaterra" is no longer making that vehicle,☹️
I might have a video on the process if you dig through my videos,But I'm not sure,Once again,I did that over two years ago,
If you do indeed have a set of Twins Hammer's gears,Then yes there is a couple of small differences,I believe that I used the stock wltoys main shaft, that goes out to the Spur gear, equipped with the Vaterra gears,
"So Vaterra gears and wltoys top shaft" "Reason being",is that the output bearing is a different size, so the Vaterra shaft wouldn't jive! I believe that everything else went together like clockwork,🤔
Although the lower main shaft, that goes to the drive shafts on the "wltoys", has a larger
output shaft diameter where it meets the drive shafts, So I believe that I used the stock lower shaft as well,🤔
I know that it does all go together,I did it on my wltoys 10428a, which I turned into a totally amphibious Brushless hydroplane rig,😂
If all else fails,You can order a stock plastic Vaterra Twin Hammer's transmission case for like $15.00 dollars,or less,😕
But if you're going that route, then you should probably snatch up everything that you can find that's Drive Train related, And change everything over,😕 But that would cost you more money than buying a Twin Hammer's to begin with,
And I don't know if it's true,or not,
But I personally believe that the overall sales of the "Cloned" Twin Hammer's, from wltoys and faiyu,
Killed the overall sales,For the "far superior" Twin Hammer's,which could be the reason behind it not being produced anymore,
I know that when I got my Twin Hammer's kit a few years back,That there was every part imaginable available for it,And now there's next to nothing available,Even from Horizon hobbies website, who is ultimately the Manufacturer,😕
It's a Real bummer,☹️
I've had my Twin Hammer's for over three years,And it's been used more than any RC that I own,And often gets offered to first time RC'ers,
"As a introductory vehicle"
And the only thing that has gone bad,was a $10.00 dollar Rc4wd motor,And that was on it's third year,😂
My wltoys is another story,
Half the initial price,But it will get you the end with repairs, and upgrades,🤔
And will end up costing more than three times the initial payment for a Twin Hammer's,☹️ Especially when you have to replace all the electronics as well,
Technically speaking, that was the first thing that I changed out on my wltoys 10428a, And it makes a huge difference with overall drive ability,👍
Spektrum dx4c radio
Spektrum sr415 four channel receiver
Axial Ae5 esc
Two Savox sw 0231 mg waterproof servos,
Not saying that you need to get any of that stuff, that's just what I put in my 10428a back in the day,😕
And I don't recommend trying to make a Amphibious hydroplane rig either,😕 I had well over $1,200.00 dollars invested into that project,🤯 Way too much money to spend on a wltoys! lol
Personally,I would recommend that you Not put any real money into the wltoys,I would treat it like a introductory vehicle,
And if you really enjoy the hobby of RC crawler's,
Then I would save my money for a Actual Hobby Grade vehicle,Something of Real Quality, and much more Reliable! 🤔
Ultimately speaking, Wltoys are considered to be a "Toy Grade vehicle"
And as Strong as the plastic may be,and it is strong,All the metal drive train parts are super weak,
☹️ I mean,They are a decent Rc vehicle for a beginner, Much better than a new bright,or anything else available on a big box store shelf,🤔
But they are definitely not Hobby Grade! ☹️
I consider them to be a, "Get what you paid for RC"
If you have some free time,I would suggest that you Google "Amain Hobbies" and look at all the different types of Rock crawler's and trail trucks that are available,🙂👍
Not being sponsored in any way,But they are my personal favorite online hobby shop,And have a selection that can't be beat, with RC's,or Parts & Accessories,🙂👍👍
Thanks for your great comments, and questions,as well as for taking the time to check out the video,😎👍

Hey bro what the name wheels you use in the Wtoys look great in every track..?
The wheels in this video are 2.2 Proline Plastic Beadlocks,
And I can't remember the actual wheel style name,😕
Now having said that, please allow me to share some excellent advice,
Do not under any means put 2.2 tires, and wheels on your WLtoys, the Transmission Can't handle the extra rotating mass,of the larger tires, and wheels,Your High/low gears will be the first too go,and depending on your driving style, the trans gears will probably strip out within the first hour of running,😕 So unless you upgrade everything on your WLtoys drive train too Vaterra Twin Hammers Heavy Duty steel gears, and differential's,then I wouldn't suggest running 2.2's,the stock drive train will come apart with the quickness 😢
Many thanks for you great question, and for checking the video my friend 😀😎👍👍
@@R.C.A.D. woow... Nice dude thanks for information i will try. hope get some happy every day
Hve you tried to lock the front diff? with something like glue :P
Oh yes I have! 😕
But not on this particular 10428, I had done that with my 10428a, well over three years ago,🤔 it does work if you're gluing the diff with JB Weld, But there's some serious repercussions for doing that,😕 And that is because of the notoriously weak front diff Out drive cups & front cvd's,🤔 they can't handle the extra stress of having the front diff locked, and will start breaking parts relatively quickly,😕 especially if you're putting it through it's paces,🤔 and it will ultimately lead to total drive train destruction,
You should check out my channel and see what I've done with my 10428a,🤔
Which bare in mind, was done well over three years ago, But I started out gluing the front diff, and then stuff started breaking, and I proceeded to repair, replace, and highly modify from there,😂 and it's all on video! 👍👍
No need to suggest anything related to fixing,or modifying the wltoys 10428,
until you have seen everything that I have done to the 10428a,🤔😂👍👍
I believe that I'm not only the first, But also the Only person, that has made a 10428 totally amphibious, But also made it hydroplane water as well! So if I accidentally flip it over backwards on the water, Not only can I stab the throttle and flip it back upright on the water, But I can also paddle it back to shore under it's own power,
Because it floats! 😂 Lol
And it's also insanely fast for a Wltoys, I've never clocked it with a GPS, but I wouldn't be surprised if it hits 75 to 80 mph,🤔
It's insanely fast!
So yeah! I've got the wltoys situation well under control my friend,😁👍👍

Hey I like you will toys 10 428i have the same setup accept with metal beadlocks and lately I'm having trouble binding right now I get steering and transmission shifting but no throttle could you help me out
What's happening Robert 😊🖐️
It sounds to me like you have a bad ESC "Electronic Speed Control" But it could also be as simple as a disconnected wire going to the motor, or possibly just a bad motor, But Ten chances to one, it sounds like you're ESC crapped out,😕 Power going to the Servo's but nothing going to the motor is definitely ESC related,🤔
You have two choices with that situation Rob;
#1 go to wltoys USA and order a new Receiver/ESC or you can go with the Second option, which is a much better option 😊👍
And that is to replace all of the electronics in the vehicle with a Hobby Grade setup, Which is what I have done with all of my Wltoy products.😁👍
I use a Spektrum DX4C Transmitter, a Spektrum sr415 four channel receiver, a Axial AE5 ESC, and Savox Sw 0231mg waterproof servo's. "Fyi the Servo's are an extremely tight fit"
But after it's all said and done, you will have a much better vehicle after the upgrade,😁 your Steering will be much more precise,as well as your throttle and breaking control, Night and Day difference between the two,
As a matter of fact, Upgrading the electronics on your Wltoys to a Hobby grade system, is one of the Best upgrades that you can do for that vehicle.😊👍
Huge difference in overall Driveability! 😁 💯%
Binding isn't the problem with your Wltoys, if it was then you're servo's wouldn't be working either,🤔😕 You either have a disconnected wire going to the motor, or the Receiver/ESC is Shot.
Upgrade it to a Hobby grade system 👍
Feel free to check out Amain Hobbies website for any of your Hobby Grade RC needs 😁👍 "not being sponsored" that's just my go to source for RC stuff.

Any problems with water proofing?
I haven't waterproofed the WLtoys, the only thing I waterproofed was the battery,
And I "plasti dipped" that.
WLtoys claims that the 10428 is "Air quotations""waterproof"
But I've only trusted it with "light splashes" and "Snow" otherwise, personally I wouldn't trust it too far,for being waterproof,😕
Thanks for your great questions, and for checking out the video leedle lee.😀👍
-- How did you get the P33 remote to bind with it ? Did yours come with that remote ?
Yeah my 10428 came with the remote,But I did donate my remote from my 10428a to a viewer on my channel, and they were able too successfully bind that remote too there 10428b,😊
You need to press the bind button on the radio, and then the bind button on the vehicles receiver,The receiver is the tuff portion of the job,As it is buried under the body & glued too the bottom of the chassis pan,😕 Once you get too the receiver, their should be a little black rupper button back by where the wires plug in to the receiver,"its pretty small"and will require a small Phillips screw driver or something too depress it,
You want the vehicle power & the radio turned on for the binding process,Once you press both buttons the vehicle should beep or put out some sort of tone signifying that it has been bound,Then give the steering a quick blip too confirm that everything is working, after that you should be good too go for the duration of the vehicles lifespan,😊👍
Hopefully the info is helpful, and many thanks for checking out the video Michael. 😎👍👍

Anytime Brother! 😊👍
@@R.C.A.D. this was really help, I just got one of these WLtoys and the remote seemed like it had a dead spot. I will certainly be following your advice to pair a different remote. Any suggestions on upgrades?
😕 hmm? well!
This is always a tuff conversation for me,I don't know if you really want,my honest opinion on Suggestions,🤔
Honestly, I would say that you should treat the wltoys, as a intro Vehicle only! And not to invest any extra money into it,😕 in other words, "the juice isn't worth the squeeze"🤔 Ultimately it will end up costing you more than what it's worth,
I would treat it as a intro Vehicle only,
And if you find yourself truly enjoying the hobby,
Then I would suggest that you look at "Amain Hobbies" online store,
And start shopping for something of Hobby grade,
That is all they carry, Nothing but Hobby Grade vehicles,😕
The wltoys is considered "Toy Grade",probably one of the best toy grade RC brands next to Fayio, which are both much better than anything made by "new bright" But they are both a Far cry, from a hobby grade Vehicle,😕🤔
The wltoys 10428 Vehicle's along with it's matching Fayio counter part, "Are both Clone Vehicle's"
And they are Cloned from the Vaterra Twin Hammer's, Which is also fetured in this video,🤔 They are extremely similar, But the Vaterra is made with High Quality parts,vs the others being more on the "tinfoil tested side"🤔 the Vaterra's metal gears are like "impact socket steel" and the wltoys is made of something significantly softer,
like some kind of cheap "Pop metal", There's huge differences with the plastic as well, The Vaterra has a fiber infused plastic, and the wltoys is closer to Rubbermaid,😕 I could go on for awhile about the differences,🤔
The moral of the story is that, I've had both vehicles for over three years now,
And Nothing has ever broken on the Twin Hammer's,Absolutely no problems,
But the wltoys has cost me a small fortune,🤔 enough, that I could have bought a really nice Hobby Grade vehicle, for around the same amount that I dumped into the wltoys on repairs,🤔😕
Just something to think about ? 👍👍
The wltoys electronics are a good example, Nothing but wltoys electronics jive with wltoys,🤔 so if you are wanting a stronger steering servo for instance, You would have to replace all of the electronics, Figure around $150.00 at the least for that,🤔 "new radio, new esc,and new servos"
At that Point, You could have bought a Redcat Gen 8 for the combined total of the wltoys, & all new electronics,🤔 And that's without getting into replacing, and upgrading the drive train, Once that's done, you're getting close to the price of a brand new Traxxas Trx4,🤔😕

Love the video! Ive got a 12428 I am modding into a crawler, of course now I wish I had of purchased the 10428 for better crawling.
When you refer the wltoys as a rental car do you mean its a car you don't really care about like a rental?
Thanks for your great comments my friend,😀
As for the rental reference;
That was kind of a inside joke, between my friend Matt Roberts of Criptic Custom RC,and myself,Mainly due too my TRX4 Bronco, and the fact that I was using it more than anything else,in reality my 10428's have been around much longer than the Bronco,
The one in the video has been featured on my channel several times, and was previously equipped with a Jeep Wrangler body,
My other 10428 is another special vehicle,I put it through several transformations, from stock too a Crazy Fast, Brushless,Amphibious,
Hydroplane Vehicle,I hold that vehicle in Higher Regard then any another RC that I own,
So nope, not saying anything bad about the WLtoys.😀
Best of Luck with your WLtoy projects Brother,😀👍
And much appreciation for checking out the video.😎👊👊
(Also just quietly I'm hoping to use the 12428 to get my wife interested enough for her to take over the 12428 as her car so I can upgrade to a 10428 😝)
My pleasure my friend,😀
And you might not want too use any wheel weights,I used too use them on all if my vehicles, but after using them for awhile I realized that the stress they were causing to the front drive cvd's,wasn't worth any benefits of the weight,😕 at least too the wheels,if you do need too add weight, your better off putting those weights in different locations along the inside of the chassis itself,it's not as immediately effective, but the ware & tear aspect is much lower,😀 those weighted tires cause a tremendous amount off stress on the drive train, while trying too spin that heavy tire up,and over obstacles😬,it's definitely not worth it,😀👍 switching out from plastic wheels, too Aluminum wheels, will add enough weight on their own,
As for the 85t motor;that is low rpm's,like super low,I've got a 65t in my trail finder 2,
spinning 2.2 Swampers,on Aluminum wheels, and the 65t is way too low for it,
It's none of my business, but you might be happier with something in the 45-55t range, with the smallest pinion gear you can fit,😀👍👍
I'm currently kinda in the same process with my brothers Fy06 6×6,eBay aluminum 1.9 wheels,eBay Swampers, and a 35t Brushed motor,We are currently shopping for small pinon gears,😊

Have you locked the rear diff
Wltoys "10428" & the "10428a", both come equipped with a locked rear differential,😊👍 the front differential however, is "open" 🤔 😕 at least it was during this video,😂
It's currently, a totally different Animal all together,😁👍👍
Thanks for your great question Matt, and many more for checking out the video my friend.😊😎👍👍
@@R.C.A.D. thanks for replying is it difficult to lock the front diff and will it cause damage locking front and rear
Well,🤔 😕 it's not difficult to lock the front, or the rear axle, and it's even easier to accomplish, if you by the optional locker's, from "Wltoys USA" 😊
Locking up the rear axle is okay,🤔 but locking up the front differential however, can quickly start causing drive train Breakage,😕
And the weakest links start breaking first, and as you upgrade those weak link's to stronger parts, the problem moves down the line to the next weakest link, and so on, and so on,🤔😕
Now I can literally sit here and type away for three hours straight, telling you exactly what is going to break first, and so on, And I can also talk for hours about how to make it somewhat "bullet proof" 😕
Unfortunately, the parts that are needed to make the buggy somewhat bullet proof, are for the most part, Unavailable! 🤔 😕 And that would consist of replacing the "entire" Wltoys drive train, with "Heavy Duty" "Vaterra" Twin Hammer's, Drive Train part's, The "Twin Hammer's" is the Hobby Grade Version, of a Wltoys 10428,🤔 The Wltoys 10428, is Technically the cheap Chinese Clone version, of the "Vaterra" Twin Hammer's, and they stopped producing the Twin Hammer's, back in 2012,😕
And now, 8 year's later, it's getting to be impossible, to find all of the necessary parts, from a Twin Hammer's, for beafing up the wltoys 10428,😕
And even if you did manage to find, all 21 Vaterra part bags that are needed, by the time that you are finished, it would have been cheaper, just to have purchased a Hobby Grade Vehicle to begin with,🤔😕
Almost $300.00 in needed parts, then add the original sticker price of the wltoys, and now you're at around $450.00+,🤔 and you can buy a real nice Hobby Grade RC, for around $450.00 as well,😕 my personal recommendation, is that you just leave it alone, and drive it for what it is, And later down the line, if you decide that you really like the Hobby, then I would save up some money, and buy a Hobby Grade Vehicle,😊👍 it will be much cheaper in the long run, and you would be much happier as well,😁🤜🤛
Are the wheels and tire the only upgrades
In this video; Yes
The tires & wheels were the only upgrade at that time.😁👍
Thanks for your great question, and many more for checking out the video my friend.😎👍👍
..Well played.
😕😢 sorry man! It's never an easy conversation me,
And truthfully,I kinda dred answering any of the WLtoys related comments, wether it's in this video,or any of my other WLtoy videos,😞
Most of the comments are coming from people who aren't subscribers,& are also seemingly first time RC buyers, who's eyes are filled with Joy,Excitement,& General
Enthusiasm towards getting there new WLtoys,And they leave comments that reflect their obvious joy,
Now myself being the kind & truthful person that I am,Have a hard time leaving them a positive reply to their comments,When I know, that vehicle parts are going to start failing, within the first few weeks,or months of ownership, and that 90% of the consumers, will not have the knowledge,or even the willingness, too tackle any kind of major repairs, custom fabricating,or custom adapting,😕 So what do I do ?
Blow a bunch of smoke up there Butts, and tell them that it was money well spent, and that they made a great move, and bought an Outstanding RC product, that will give them years of problem free enjoyment,
all the while knowing, that it will suffer catastrophic failure before too long,😕
Or tell them the truth! And are only a few steps above a New Bright,
and a Far Cry! from hobby grade, ultimately you get what you pay for,😕 And no matter how many diamonds you through on a piece of crap too dress it up,at the end of the day, underneath it all,it's still a piece of Crap! 😕
So what do you do ? Break hearts! or Blow Smoke! ? 😞
Unfortunately the messenger is always First too get Shot! and or Crucified for speaking the truth! 😕
It comes with Metal gears,
But they don't tell you what kind of metal it is!, I can tell you that it's not Hardened Steel! 😕 And that it's most likely softer than baby poop! 😕
Oil filled shocks,& metal links, wow! Stand back!
Once again, what kind of metal for the shock pistons,& links,?
And they will probably leak the oil out within the first day,
I'm not Drinking the WLtoys Cool aid my friend! 😕 but feel free too guzzle that stuff down,Have fun waiting for the Comet with the rest of the Sheep,But I'm definitely not buying what there selling! Figuratively & Littorally! 😕
@@R.C.A.D. -- Thanks again for thr P33 info
No problem Michael, sorry for being short tempered with you my friend,But the subject of WLtoys products is completely lost on me,And ultimately,I'm sure the overall sales of the Cloned vehicle's,
such as the WLtoys & Fayiu,is probably what killed the sales for the Vaterra Twin Hammers,😕 Which is too bad, because it's heavier duty parts, are the only thing that will pretty much directly swap over, too the WLtoys, and now the Vaterra Twin Hammers Heavy Duty parts, are starting too become few,and far between,😞 which is a total bummer!
Once again,I personally blame the Clone vehicles, like the WLtoys 10428,which is a Direct Rip Off! of the Vaterra Twin Hammers,😕
And if that trend, keeps up it's pace, then it won't be long before all of those Inferior Clone vehicles take over the RC market, and kill the sales,of all the "more reliable" Hobby Grade RC vehicles,😕
Just a thought!

Is IT waterproof?
Wel... Wltoys says that it's Water Resistant on the packaging, and it also says that it's water resistant on the vehicle description on the web, "But as for personal experience" I would say that it's good for some splashing, but definitely not for submarining.😉👍
Generally speaking... I would try to avoid the water as much as possible with it.
😂👍
Have you got a 2 speed motor in it ?
No ? 🤔
It does have a two speed transmission,But I have it locked in low range,
Otherwise Everything else comes down to Throttle control, "basically saying" that it's all in how hard,or softly you pull the throttle trigger on the controller,
"Variable throttle" "Fully proportional" like an electric Drill, The farther you pull the trigger on,The faster it moves, And if you hold it in one spot,it will maintain a constant speed, Very much like the gas pedal,on a Real vehicle,😕 New Bright and many other toy grade RC's,do not have fully proportional controls,
So when you hit the gas there is no control, it's wide open forward,or wide open reverse, Same for turning left or right,
Where as fully proportional gives you full control in any direction,🤔
🙂👍

Is that wl toys the 1/10 scale 200 dollar one or thr little brother 1/12
That's the 10428 in stock form minus the tires, those are some Rc4wd 2.2 mud slingers, and I stripped out the transmission gears about 45 minutes later, The 2.2 tires were too much for it to handle.☹️
So that's a yes on the 1/10 scale, and a no on $200.00 dollars, I got this one when they were still Cheaply priced, which was $150.00 😊👍 And now that I converted it into a "Twin Hammer's" it's worth closer to $600.00 dollars 🙄 and it will probably never break again.😊👍
The only vehicle that I owned that was close to a 12428 was the fayiu fy06 6×6, it has the same drive train as the 12428 except that it's a 6×6 instead of a 4×4, and that thing was So... Worthless that I stripped it down and turned the chassis into a Tandem axle flat bed trailer,😂 That is the trailer that was hauling the wltoys 10428 Twin Hammer's conversion out to the adventure course on the wltoys Green Hammer first run video.😊
Note; The Fayiu fy06 is a complete hunk of Sh*t 😕
Which means the same thing for the wltoys 12428, it's a total hunk of poo 💩

The Rc4wd 2.2 Mud Slingers are 4'3/4 inches tall by almost 2 inches wide,
"123 mm tall by 49 mm wide"
Fyi; I don't personally recommend running anything larger than a 1.9 on the WLtoys 10428 vehicles, the extra rotating mass "Will" destroy the drive train.
Thanks for the Great question, and for checking out the video my friend.😀👍👍
@@R.C.A.D. thank u .. and i have rare tire.. 130mm on 40mm wide it still damge the gear? cuz its not so much wide... what u think?
Ultimately it's a combination of overall weight, larger tire diameter, larger wheel, and or possibly extra weight from aluminum wheels, equals a lot of extra rotating mass,
It honestly doesn't look like much by looking at it,but if you think about that tiny wheel spindle, and the torque being applied too it,by trying too spin those larger tires, and it should start to make sense,
The pins that WLtoys uses on the wheel hexes, cvd's,drive shaft universals, and transmission, are notoriously weak, and will break,or bend from the added stress, and if you decide to replace all of the pins with something more hobby grade, you will start to experience more catastrophicall parts failure, like the front half shafts breaking,or the front differential outdrive cups breaking,or the dreaded transmission failure,
"Which are all costly repairs"
It's your vehicle, and you can do,or try whatever you feel,
But I honestly wouldn't run anything larger than a 1.9 tire, and wheel.😉👍
Best of Luck Brother 😀👊👊

What website are you referring too?,
I honestly have no idea about what your talking about,I know that they sell for between $140.00-$150.00 U.S.dollars brand new,so $100.00 off would be a huge discount,But once again I haven't seen,or heard anything about a $100.00 discount,😕

I would greatly appreciate it,
I hope you enjoyed the video, and thanks for watching my friend,😀👍👍
I found that its biggest problem is the weight, it simply doesnt weight enough stock and I had happened to have a small brick of lead I placed right in the middle (i removed the driver and plastic cover and covered it with metal screen) and it almost entirley elimanates the torque twist and increases traction greatly
Yes sir! This one has some lead weight laying on the bottom of the chassis too! 😁
Tyres? Link?
"Rc4wd 2.2 Mud Slingers"
Feel free to search them out on the internet for the best deal.
Note; I do not recommend tyres larger than 1.9's for a Stock Wltoys 10428, The vehicles Drive-Train can't handle the extra rotating mass of 2.2 tyre's, It will quickly destroy any number of Transmission Gear's, and or the Front Differential CVD shafts, or Front diff out drive cups.🤔
The moral of the story, is that you are Definitely going to Break your Wltoys shortly after installing larger tyres onto the vehicle.☹️

Proline 2.2 Plastic Beadlock wheels,Can't recall the actual wheel "style name".
I would suggest "googling" "Proline 2.2 plastic beadlock wheels" and see what pop's up,Not to give away trade secrets, but I find that "Google" is very helpful when trying to find RC items.😀👍
Basic description;
The wheel is a 3 piece plastic beadlock, with a Steel bolt on outer beadlock ring, and a 12mm plastic wheel hex hub.
I typically don't run plastic Beadlocks,But I generally keep a few set's around for vehicles that have a weak drive train's and can't handle the extra rotating mass of a aluminum beadlock wheel,Such as the WLtoys,😕
If your looking for some decent, yet cost effective aluminum beadlock wheels,
I would suggest looking on Wish.com,My brother has found several halfway decent aluminum beadlock wheels on "Wish" and very cost effective, usually between $25.00 too $35.00 us dollars, for a set of 4 wheels,😀 which is a Awesome deal!

Where to nuy tires
The tires are made by Rc4wd;
you can order them directly from Rc4wd.com,or at any major online hobby store, such as Amain hobbies,or Tower hobbies,Don't qoute me on the price, but there right around 25 dollars for a set of two tires, which would be around fifty dollars for four tires.
The wheels are made by Proline, they are "plastic" beadlock wheels, they are around 40 dollars for a set of four.
The tires themselves are Rc4wd 2.2 Mud Slingers.
But,I Absolutely Do Not Recommend running 2.2 tires on a WLtoys 10428,
The Drive Train Can't Handle the Extra Rotating Mass.😕
I could go into a very long, and detailed explanation,on exactly what is going too break, and what order it's going too break in,and how much it's going to cost too properly repair everything,
But that would require about three hours of typing,😕
Which I have done with several different comments on this video,
So,I would highly recommend that you Read the other comments,That will pretty much tell you all you need to know about running 2.2's,and the Breakage of parts.
In closing;Don't put 2.2 tires on your WLtoys,Many thanks for your great comment, and much appreciation for checking out the video my friend.😀😎👍👍
anyway to make it a closed dif
Oh yeah there sure is John, but it comes with heavy penalties,
All kinds of things will start breaking afterwards, like the front cvd's,then the transmission gears, then the plastic rear drive shaft, and finally the rear ring & pinion,
If you leave it stock with a open front diff, everything lasts for awhile, once you start upgrading it you have too upgrade everything, swapping the radio, esc, and steering servo is also a great idea towards the vehicle being more capable,
Thanks for the Great question, and for watching Brother 😀👊👊🍻🍻🍻

Sorry Franco 😕 unfortunately I threw out that manual year's ago,
But from what I can recall, Wltoys has a online parts store somewhere on the internet,🤔 should really just be a matter of finding it, After that, just type in your vehicle, and it should pop up all the stock parts that are available for it,😕
It's been years since I was on that website, last time was ordering a steel spur gear for the 10428, and it took so long to get it that I actually gave up on getting it, and replaced the spur gear with a similar "Team Losi" Kevlar spur gear,🤔 which was ultimately much better than the wltoys steel spur gear, Anyways I'm rambling,😂 start doing some Google searches, you'll find it eventually, that's how I did it several years ago,👍

So basically, what I gather from what you have told me,🤔 is that you really don't know what you're talking about,😕 which once again, is all based on "Your Comment", and the way that "You" worded everything,😕

I don't know how fast it is exactly,🤔 I never actually tried clocking it, but I would guess that it's probably around 75-80 MPH, at half throttle,😕 any more than half throttle, and the truck Violently flips over backwards, in the blink of an eye,😮 and it Hydroplanes water as well,😂👍 it's a Brushless, Amphibious, Ultra High Speed, Hydroplaning, Wltoys 10428a,😁 I built it around three years ago, cost me close to $1,300.00 us dollars to build,😕 and is not only the First of its kind, But it's also probably, the only one that you will see online,😊👍 and it's all mine,😂 I built it from start to finish, and it's all online to see,😊👍 and unfortunately due to part's Availability,🤔
Not to many more people, are going to be able to build something like that with the Wltoys 10428, 😕 the "Vaterra" Twin Hammer's Heavy Duty Drive-Train part's, are becoming very difficult to find, even on eBay,😕 I just finished fully converting this particular wltoys 10428 for my brother as a Birthday gift, and I had a Seriously Tuff time trying to find some of the last few parts that were required,🤔 21 Vaterra part bags in total, to Fully Convert it to Twin Hammer's Quality,😕 very expensive, easily over $300.00 u.s. dollars, and that's with swapping out the Receiver, ESC, Steering servo, and Motor, we already had a Transmitter to bind it with, so that was a saved expense,👍 currently the only thing that is still "Wltoys" on this Buggy, is the Main Chassis plate, Suspension components, Shocks, and the body,🤔
The Complete Rear axle "locked with Helical cut ring & pinions, Rear drive shaft, Complete Transmission gear's and Case, Complete front locked differential,& case, With Helical cut ring & pinion, along with "Heavy Duty" Front diff Out Drive cups, and "Heavy Duty" front Cvd's, along with a full bearings from front to back, with steel 12mm wheel hexes, Are All, Heavy Duty Vaterra Twin Hammer's part's,🤔 Right now, this particular Vehicle is worth around $800.00 dollars, with everything that was put into it, not including the Hours of labor that I personally put into it,😕
I posted a high speed build video on everything that I did to this exact Wltoys 10428, feel free to check it out as well,😊👍
And there you go Connor,👍
That is how you leave a discriptive Comment, about your RC's, and plans for modification of said RC's,
😁👍
Feel free to redeem yourself Brother,👍 I won't pass judgement right away,
I understand that "typos" happen, and sometimes the send button gets hit, before you have a chance to "proof read it",😕😁
Otherwise, Cool Deal with your new Wltoys,😊👍 and many thanks for checking out the video my friend.🙂😎👍👍

where i cann buy this tire?
I really shouldn't tell you where to buy these tires,
That is,if you are planning on using them on a wltoys 10428, Then it's a really bad idea,🤔 Things will start breaking very quickly in the vehicles drive train,
I would really recommend that you read some of the Viewers Comments, and my replys too those comments concerning the tires, before you go out and buy them,🤔
Moral of the story; Use these tires at your own Risk! They will eventually break your vehicle!
The tires are made by "Rc4wd" they have online stores,
They are called "Mud Slinger's" and the wheel size is 2.2
The wheels are made by "Proline" and they are a 3 piece bead lock,2.2 wheel
Available at most online hobby stores,
I don't know where you live as far as Country, But I order the bulk of my RC supplies from "Amain Hobbies" online store,
Although they don't carry Anything wltoys related,
Wltoys is considered a Toy Grade vehicle, And Amain Hobbies is a Hobby Grade vehicle store, Might be a good idea to check out their Crawler and Trail vehicles, while you're looking for tires,🤔 🙂👍
Thanks for your great question, And for taking the time to check out the video Igor.🙂😎👍✌️
