I find that my relationship with myself is what hindered me from experiencing God's love for me. And after getting this revelation and doing the work to transform this, my relationship with myself is the means by which I feel and experience God's love for me personally and intimately. So it is imperative for anyone who seeks a close, intimate and personal relationship with God to cultivate a positive and nurturing and life supporting relationship with One's self. This is a very important teaching especially for us Ladies!

This is the aspect I’ve discovered as well. Religion imprinted the belief that there’s no good thing but the father, I’m filthy as rags and born in sin. This belief reinforced my traumatic upbringing so here we are, learning how the see ourselves as WORTHY of love and I’m good enough for me to love me. I’m no longer religious minded so I’m grateful for that hard lesson!

In my reading to day, I also came across a passage in Ezra 2:69 which also underscores God's desire that we give, but not to the point we cannot get our needs met. Ezra 2:69 According to their ability they gave to the treasury (to build the house of the Lord in Jerusalem). Peace be with you.

When I give myself what I have been giving others as a Christian, I start to feel more safe and comfortable inside. It is amazing. I won't give others anymore what I want until I give it to my self first. I also won't give others what they are not willing to give me. Thank you very much, Doc Snipes. It feels so kind for someone to tell me to receive for myself too and to make it my first priority. No one has ever loved me enough to tell me that.

From my point of view; I do not think "religion" is the problem. It is how us as human beings have interpreted religion that is the problem; it is these interpretations that have been written as guides for those seeking religious knowledge; so as a people many of us have understood religion through the eyes of someone else and not our own; and this is why religion comes off as toxic.

Dr. Snipes, your videos are awesome and very helpful. I have heard it said that we need to be friends with ourselves before we can be friends with others. Doing one thing in the moment mindfully helps me to build a better relationship with myself. Positive affirmations towards myself did indeed build self-esteem. Pampering myself by self-soothing any of my five senses builds self love. Mindfully checking out how I am doing in the moment helps. Loving kindness is something I learned in DBT. Sending loving kindness to myself helps to lessen the voice of the inner critic. PERFECTS is an excellent way to remember to take care of ourselves. Thank you for another amazing and awesome video. Thank you for examing the Bible texts!
I've heard a very interesting interpretation of the Widow's Mites by Justin Peters:
If you read the last verses of the preceding chapter in both Mark and Luke, Jesus calls out the Pharisees because they "take widow's houses..." Then in the next chapter there she is... A widow, old woman, giving all she has. The story isn't about the widow's willingness to give everything she has, but about people who are willing to wring someone else dry.

This is so good. I'm glad that you used biblical principles and scriptures to shed light on the healthy and truthful perspective on the concept of Selflessness and service as most of us have wrongly interpreted that as complete self abandonment, self neglect and a kind of emotional self flagellation which is the greatest evil one can do as it leaves us feeling resentful of others, of God, of ourselves and of life which is the worst absolute worst state of being we can fall into. This is a very important teaching and on a very important topic that often is left unaddressed but is the root of a lot of issues many well meaning people especially women suffer in. Thank you for taking the time to make this video! You're blessed and a blessing indeed! 🙌🙏😊

Acknowledging my feelings is something I've buried. When angry, annoyed, I just sort of move on and don't face or show those feelings because I feel like I want to walk away from those situations. Is that normal?

    processing processing processing:
    trying to untangle the mess
    in my mind
    while I watch this video...
    how did I create this?
    and why? why why why?
    why oh why God why?
    what's the lesson?
    what must I unlearn?
    falling for a man:
    obsessed with health and fitness.
and me? diabetic. fat. overweight: my whole life.
    he's vegan.
    I love meat.
    he's a fitness trainer.
leisure walks are the only exercise I get.
    I have a bad back, I can't do much.
fitness is far from my thing.
    for him: fitness is EVERYTHING.
why would I do this to myself? why why why?
fall for a man that would/could never: fall for me back?

Hi, I am just wondering your opinion of something. Do you feel that some women are capable of truly loving a man or do most of them love what a man can do for them? I asked my counselor this same question and she wouldn't give me a straight answer! I am learning to love myself, but it's going to take quite some time after many many years of mental abuse. And yes I am a regular man!

I can't speak for others but I truly loved my husband until he passed away. It was never about what Jr could do for me but what WE could give each other. I took care of him when he was sick and wasn't able to give anything or do anything. I miss him every day. I'm not a doctor but a regular woman.

Dear Doc Snipes, I would like to ask you about a controversial issue related to complex developmental trauma(neglect, abuse, etc) : fetishistic Disorder and more specificaly feet fetishism based on complex trauma. I have already read about vertical split of the self, hypnotherapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, CBT, etc, but no one have given a suitable therapy model in order for one to get rid of the Disorder. Could you shed a little light on that? Thank you very much in advance!

Liked the focus on self relationship because it truly is the foundation for everything else. Reviewing bible verses felt like a real departure from a research based psychology focus. Not knocking people's beliefs but I think there are many places to go to learn about scripture if that's what people are interested in. It would be a disappointment if that's the direction the channel is going but you gotta do what feels right for you. Thanks

As an atheist, I didn't know that this video was going to take a religious angle based on the title...so, I had to stop there...But I hope it's helping someone. Cheers!

    • @JoyOfTheLORD.
      @JoyOfTheLORD. 8 месяцев назад

The “religious angle” isnt the point. The Bible is full of truth that can be applied to any area in your life. It’s literally the Word of God(divinely inspired). The point of the video is to help those who are lacking the tools to heal and love themselves so that they CAN be able to love others effectively, “religious” or not. Anyhoo not trying to convince you of scripture however, i feel it’s important not to have tunnel vision with these things. The rest of the video might have been something that could have helped you. Dumping the whole video because of something you dont agree with isnt wise at all.
