She, Malgosia Fiebig, played an hommage to Avicii. Both on the Dom in Utrecht and Saint Stevens in Nijmegen. I am sure that many tears were shed in both cities when she played.
I’ve lived in the city centre of Utrecht for many years, right in front of my apartment stood (and still stands 😄) the Dom tower. I didn’t have a clock in the house, you just looked out the window to see the time on the clock on the tower. And I always enjoyed the quarterly hour chimes and the carillon players. If I remember correctly that was always on the hour. The chimes of the large bells allways gave me such a feeling of power, soothing and proudness. I now live in the city of Eindhoven but I’m glad I have a church tower in front of my apartment again, see the time by looking out the window and I can see many more old churches, not any as great as the Dom tower/cathredral (the Catharina cathedral comes closest), but if they all ring together (sundays and special events) I get goosebumps …
Malgosia is great! She is also carillionist in my town of Nijmegen. I live very close to the St. stevenstower, so I hear her play very often. She always pays respect to artists who died, like Prince, David Bowie, Queen etc.
These time mechanisms where one important reason for the Dutch golden age. Because having synchronised time is of central importance for trade and contracts (do this and this at that and that moment...) and also for travel, and especially shipping (because the computation of your location on the seas is critically linked to the measured time and the position of sun and stars, or GPS satelites...)
Most of the bells in the US were cast in a town near me called Asten. In the largest bell foundry of the world still in operation. They still service all their bells and tune them when needed. Some of the most famous bells are the bells of the Notre Dame, Big Ben, and the Liberty Bell.
Its a shame Martin basically gave up on the Marble Machine X and went into a new, 100% CAD Designed machine... thankfully a german engineering team picked up the work on the MMX.

Thanks for your story Thanx ❣️
What a great instrument. I truly didn't know. So much to learn from you're own country. Thanks for sharing !
I was in the Domtoren when that video was made and I remember Martin (the marble machine person) being so excited that she played his song.
Little chance to find a building from the 14th century with a elevator :))

'You have bolts on the backside. Or nuts I see. It's nuts".
There's a Dutch carillon in the US, you know. In Washington DC. We gave it to you to thank the US for helping us out in WWII.
That was a lovely gesture, and I hope I can hear it some day.

That is sooo cool! Really amazing!
She also does this in Nijmegen and Monday this will be played there. Greetz from a warm Brazil.
Wow, she is wonderful. Really love it.
Utrecht was an important Roman Catholic Bisdom centuries ago so that's why this one is huge.

Utrecht has some 360.000 inhabitants, so she played for a lot of people.😁
