Great video but as a newbie at this, I have a question that probably is a dumb one for gurus but I need to ask. Don't the ants need drinking water as well or is hydrating the nest with the sponges enough?
I have experimented with this since making this video, I notice the same problem over time. Instead, I have painted the bottom of the water reservoir to capture the water for longer.
You could use either a low wattage heat matt or heat cord. If your thinking about getting one, try a heat cord since you can warm up several colonies at the same time!
Definitely like the idea of a AAC nest. The idea of designing ang making your own has a huge appeal.
this is very helpful! i might try this one day
I’m so pleased to know that Ants Hellas!
Nest is looking really good!
Aye thanks Mate! I’m happy with it being my first go
Tha looks great :) I’m about to make a few, will take on some of your ideas. Thanks!
Oh that's awesome Arthropdoa! I'd love to show off your final product. Have Fun Mate!
I would be worried that placing the magnets on top of the glass will shatter it, but cutting glass is difficult too.
I was too, but if you place the magnet close, it seems ok, it’s also surprisingly tight fitting!👌 😊

🤩 Thank You!!
Doing this this spring 🤟🏼
Yay 😁 👌
Great video mate 👍 subbed 👌🐜
Thank you for subscribing KB ANTS! 🥳😁
A question, i also make them but the water reservoir is always dry even with a sponge, and the heat is like 25-30°C so it dries up very fast

it looks super clean
Thanks Stijn!

I'm just wondering but what would you use to heat the colony

looks great 👍
Thank you!
Nice
Nice Video 👍
Thank you Creepy Pets
Heat lamps r hella hot compared to heating cables 😂
Seemsnlike small ants could squeeze between the ytong and glass cover
Nice Messor
I’ve gotta try this
Would love to see how you go!
good job :)
Thanks so much! I really enjoyed making this project 😊
My ytong nest dry up too fast even with a sponge and I water 3 ml and the nest Isn't really that big
I find I have to hydrate the sponges every 2 days, that being said, some sp. would prefer a dry nest and would suit not being hydrated as often.
I believe Sealing the outside of the nest with paint will help reduce moisture loss too.
I got my block in NSW for $7.80
Nice!
NICE JOB! be sure to do a moving video
Make sure to watch next week’s video 😉 😊
