  • A comprehensive Guide on How to make a Cavern Ant Farm (DIY Formicarium) from Ytong. In this Build Video I show you How YOU can design an Ant Water Tower, a water tank to drink. The final terrarium offers the Ants both a Nesting Medium (Ytong Nest) and an Outworld (foraging area), which are both essential components for your pet Ant Colony to thrive!
    Some of our favourite Ant Colonies shall later be introduced to this Formicarium.
    The Tools and Materials used are mostly simple - So you can give it a try yourself too!

    Excellent DIY! I'm new to the hobby and love to craft. The only tricky part looked to be the ledgevover the water tower. Is that just very careful carving? That looks like delicate work. The brilliant tip is the little bar to hold the magnets for glueing! That makes them perfectly flush with the surface. Another question. Do you use red acrylic for the front ?

    • @AntsVienna
      @AntsVienna  2 года назад +2

      hello. Thanks! No, I don't use red acrylic in general. I try to keep my ants away from direct sunlight and cover them with a towel or something when I'm not actively looking at them or filming.

    • @AntsVienna
      @AntsVienna  2 года назад +1

      hey. No, it does not work like that. I think it is cold the "pascal principle" that inspired my design. It is pretty complex and needs to be done exactly right to work... I have to improve that further. For now I would suggest you stick to the principle of the normal water tower - namely a reservoir topped with an 80+ steel mesh and granting access from the side to fill up externally. Thanks

    • @AntsVienna
      @AntsVienna  Год назад +1

      Hello there. No, mold is no problem there. It consists of plastic and V4 corrosion-proof metal mesh - there is no possible way to get mold there, unless you continually overflood it

    • @winkerwatty1047
      @winkerwatty1047 Год назад +1

      @AntsVienna that's good. just a second question then. Do the ants drink through the mesh or does the water settle just over the mesh but not over the plastic container? Hello again. Actually the design allows for the water to get over the mesh, but not over the plastic container - like you said.
