I have looked at all of your tutorials and I don't see any other videos that SHOW you changing the roles. This is the only video that you detail the three different roles.
Open the Participant panel. Point to the person who role you want to change, click More and you will see Make Host, Co-Host, and other withdraw co-host.
in watching this I have no idea what you clicked on in order to give permission to someone to be the cohost. all you said was watching my screen while you were clicking on something. or you just went into participants and just by clicking on a participants name that automatically makes them the cohost.
How can you add these roles permanently / automatically to everyone invited? For a small team of 6, we want all participant to be a co-host so they can share their screen and not have to make them co-hosts during the meeting every time.
Linde, I can't do an Alternative host, since my account is just for me. I do not have a company account with other users. I do know you can set up an Alternative host before your meeting and if you don't show, they run the meeting as the host. I would use this if I scheduled a meeting, but I can't attend, and I want a co-worker to manage it for me.
@@ChrisMenardTraining Thank you so much for your reply. My role in Zoom meetings for some of my clients is that I need to act as the administrator and manager of that meeting, w.o.w - be there from the beginning to the end and run the whole thing. I have to do that on behalf of the host, so while the host is present. But as we already know, there can only be ONE host. So what I eventually figured out is that as an Alternative Host I can start a meeting, and then when the Host connects in, they can choose to either come in as The Host and take over the controls, or they can come in as a Co-Host. If they select Co-Host, then I become The Host and have full control over the whole meeting. They continue to "co-host" the meeting while I'm in the background with my sound muted and video off. I can also rename The Host role so that the Co-Host which is the main person talking can have their true name displayed, and we don't see two of the same people on the participant window. Hope that makes sense? I couldn't find any videos out there to help with this, so that is why I asked originally. Really love your channel, keep up the good work.
I think this Co host feature is not for the free version. I did what he said but this did not work for me. I only see the option to make the person a Host..
Emma, great question. The answer is no for Co-host. That would be an Alternative host. You need to be on a company or business account to use Alternative host. Co-host can only be assigned once the meeting starts.
Hi can you help me decide what zoom plan subscriptions I need to avail if I would be holding a 3 days webinar with plenary and parallel sessions daily? Thank you for your time.
Only the original meeting host can edit or add polls during a meeting. If the host or co-host role is transferred to another user, that user will only be able to launch polls already created.
i dont get it... i own a pro zoom i paid and im not able to put someone in co-host... the way im doing is; im clicking on his name right mouse and the only choices ive are; delete, cancel name host rename pin and give him the rights to record .... but i dont have name co-host.. wtf??!
If a paid account 'HOST" can't make a meeting, can a temporary host be assigned? Or can I have another person be HOST on a regular basis in my paid ($15) account so I can focus on the content and not running the meeting? PS, nice explanation.
You can assign an *alternative* host before a meeting, but not a *co-host* before a meeting. The alternative host needs to be on the same business account and set up as an alternative host.
Harrison, that would be a great feature, but all you can do with someone in the waiting room is Admit or Remove and send a message to everyone in the waiting room. So, you would have to Admit them and then rename them. drive.google.com/file/d/1PzCCLpTPuwmGQUHJsD9DTAP0DK0Y2lGN/view?usp=drivesdk
Please update this video. Your presentation is great; however, a Co-Host can now launch and share results for polls as well as activate, monitor and manually assign breakout rooms.
Can I assign one Zoom account (or meeting) to two different email addresses so that either person can start the meeting as host? For example, I am setting up a class but don't know who will teach it yet
The only way to do that is to use the Scheduling privilege. You have to be on the same account for it to work. If you trust the other two people, a workaround is to schedule a meeting and allow the other two people to have the login credentials. They sign in as the host.
Chris, I’m extremely frustrated. We have been trying to set up co-hosting and scheduling. We purchased 2 licenses. Whenever we try the steps to link the two, one of us gets changed to basic and the other cannot link the email to scheduling. How do we contact a live person? The support staff does not seem to understand how the system works. They keep trying to refund the second license....help!
If you are licensed user, and make a basic user co-host, the meeting will continue wit no timeout. It is still your meeting. You can record the meeting. The co-host can record to the cloud, and it will show up in your cloud recording.
Co-host can't enable the waiting room, but it the waiting room is turned on, co-hosts can place participants in waiting room or admit/remove participants from the waiting room.
If the host leaves the room then the room shuts down for all the participants. It does not just leave the room running without a host. So if you have to leave a room make someone a host first!
Here is how it works. If the original host is a Licensed user, the meeting will continue to run for an unlimited time, even if the new host is a free or basic user. If the original host is a Free or Basic user, the meeting will be limited to the 40 minute duration, even if the new host is a Licensed user.

Great video! Thanks
You are welcome!
Thanks, a good information teacher.
Thank you.
Well done. Greatly appreciated.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks, Wally's Channel.
Hi Chris. Can Zoom record an application or a tab only and not the entire screen? Thanks

Helpfull.I never knew that u could have more co-hosts.
Do you have a video that shows how to use dual monitors in zoom as a host or cohost?
I am trying to figure this out too!!!! How do you Enable Co-host ON for a meeting? I don't have the Admin Settings describe in ZOOM documents.
I think this Co host feature is not for the free version. I did what he said but this did not work for me. I only see the option to make the person a Host..
It is only for a licensed version of zoom.
@@ChrisMenardTraining Thank you.
can you pre-assign someone a co-host so they can start the meeting if you are in another meeting on zoom?
Emma, great question. The answer is no for Co-host. That would be an Alternative host. You need to be on a company or business account to use Alternative host. Co-host can only be assigned once the meeting starts.
If you join a Zoom meeting and the host can't make it, can you still share your screen/PowerPoint as a participant?
As the Host, I mute all participants, including co-host, and NOT allow participant to unmute. Can the co-host un-mute?
I think the co-host can unmute. I'll test it this weekend.
Just got chance to test it, it works. Thanks
Hi, Are you able to add a co-host if you only have a free account? I can't find the setting to enable co-hosts in the first place. Thanks!
Co-host is only with a paid account.
When I go to do it, it doesn’t show Make Co-Host. Please help. What if I have 3 people in a meeting? Does it work then?
a paid acct is required. Once you have another person in the meeting, you can make them a co-host.
Hi can you help me decide what zoom plan subscriptions I need to avail if I would be holding a 3 days webinar with plenary and parallel sessions daily? Thank you for your time.
could you tell me that if co host is on paid zoom
Correct - cohost are with a paid account.
If the host of the meeting switched me to be a host, can I create a poll and launch it? if yes, how can I do that? Please this is urgent!

Co host can record the video of that session or not?
Yes, a co-host can record. At one time they couldn't, but they can now.
Can the host or co host renamed the participant’s screen name while they are waiting in the waiting room?
Harrison, that would be a great feature, but all you can do with someone in the waiting room is Admit or Remove and send a message to everyone in the waiting room. So, you would have to Admit them and then rename them. drive.google.com/file/d/1PzCCLpTPuwmGQUHJsD9DTAP0DK0Y2lGN/view?usp=drivesdk
How do you appoint co-hosts? Is it done when you schedule a meeting or in the meeting itself?
Co-host are done in the meeting itself.
@@ChrisMenardTraining thanks for clarifying this as I was not sure about that

How to add co host in mobile
Open the participant panel. Click the arrow to the right of the person's name and select make co-host. Same steps to remove co-host.
