  • Don't get it twisted: the Minnesota Vikings crushed the Green Bay Packers in all phases. Just because of a late, ultimately doomed surge, you shouldn't believe that the Vikings didn't earn this win and then some.

    My moment was actually the opposite. I felt Sam was able to kind of surf the other team's avalanche and silence the crowd with the big throw to JJ. Of course it was good scheme, but we saw meaningful improvement from Sam in communication, play clock, etc. on that drive.
    Also, I ride with all of KOC's 4th down calls. It was NOT the same as Dan Campbell's mistake in the championship, because the Packers had almost zero chance with no timeouts and ppl forget how silly onside kicks are. He also nailed every challenge.
    Also it wasn't the championship, it was week 4. Play to win. This is the step backwards, culture building year. Just enjoy it. Geez...

      I like a lot of what you said, except the last bit. In Kwesi's pre-season presser he said the rebuild was over, so this is a competitive year - this team is good enough to be a real SB challenger. I'm struggling to find a team in the NFC that can beat them.

    Your approach to the 2 missed field goals by packers is exactly what I was thinking. People could be like oh if the packers had made the field goals they would have won but I think the Vikings would have played differently if it was closer. We just got too conservative and had some unfortunate bad breaks on offense but it’s nothing to worry about we just gotta close games a little better.

    A win is a win regardless if it was an absolute thrashing or not..not sure why it needs to be categorized. If I had to categorize it tho, I guess a 2 point game where the losing team put up more yardage, had more 1st downs, gave up fewer sacks had more yards per play…I would consider that a close game and not an absolute thrashing. But again, doesn’t really matter…it’s a W.

      Two missed field goals. First game in weeks for GB QB, Jones got dinged up and the wheels started coming off. But you go for it. I like MN better then Detroit or Chicago. Maybe we all missed on the MN QB, I am not buying it. To much film in the can. Situation and circumstances.

      @@slipjones2 first game in weeks is meh. He missed two games. Practiced for a week and a half. If you’re not healthy, don’t play. He was terribly inaccurate. Receivers didn’t help him out but he also wasn’t putting ball in good spots. That was an easy first down and potential TD to Wicks on their first drive where they missed the FG if Love hits Wicks in stride. Instead it’s low, Wicks doesn’t catch it, miss the FG and it’s 14-0 before every fan gets thru security and to their seat.

    Three interesting things: Jordan Love in the first half looked off-balance, like he was favoring his hurt knee. Second half, he moved a lot better, like he'd had a pain killer injection. On the Viking side, Sam Darnold looked like a football god first half, but in the second half he had to fight mightily to maintain his poise in the pocket. Credit to the Packers pass rush in the second half, they were getting through and moving Darnold off his spot. Credit to Darnold, he didn't collapse; instead, he innovated.
    Third thing: What happened to Bradbury and Ingram? They didn't stink, all game. I thought the Pack would open a freeway through those guys, but it didn't happen. Wha-?

  • @TimYoung-f2z
    @TimYoung-f2z 4 дня назад +1

    The high ball is not an accurate assessment on the Jordan Love throw. The packers were consistently getting that 10-12 yard dig route. The throw was not meant for the TE. Also, Darnold should have had 2 interceptions. Darnold receivers also made out of body frame catches where the packers receivers dropped passes right in their chest. The wicks pass hit him in the chest for a touchdown.

    I'm finding it much easier to agree with you, now that you have joined the believers. I think I suggested to you at the start of the season that Sam might end up being better than Kirk, as good a thrower, and better in every other regard - pocket presence, of schedule plays, rushing. I believe you thought that was a stretch then. What about now?
    I was pleased to see him rush a couple of times when the play aborted and pocket collapsed. I was really pleased to see him do that, and I'm guessing he'll do that more in future.

    I'm a RAVENS fan, I'm sitting here watching the Monday night game with Detroit hosting Seattle. I'm going through the schedule, and if Sam Darnold stays healthy and continues to play the same as he's been playing, then you guys in Minnesota will have 13 wins and the #1 seed easy. I think that the game against the JETS in London is gonna go 30-17 VIKINGS.

      Hey there, good call. After watching the Ravens destroy the Bills yesterday, I'm betting on a Ravens - Vikes SB. There seem to be a lot of very average teams in the league this season. I guess some of them will sort it out.
      I think you're being a little generous to the Jets. If they play like they did last week, and the Vikes play anywhere average of their past few weeks - it could easily be a 34-9 job.

    Great take…I think the lessons in this game are mainly for the coaches to keep the players “in the game” and same for the coaches… I feel like coaches and players got to a point where they felt invincible and were playing a little over their heads and even almost low energy, which I know might seem contradictive to playing over their heads,… at the end of the day this is the NFL and the Packers are a good team. I think it should’ve been a reasonable assumption that Love would start out slow and probably pick up rhythm as the game went on… he has to re-develop chemistry and timing after being out for the last couple games. That argument might help explain the defense “getting soft”…our offense I think was a lot of KOC not staying with the game plan for 4 quarters… so many times when coaches start forcing stats or featuring a specific player is when things go bad and that is for both coaches and players… I don’t think the Aaron Donald thing was significant though, given series of 3 consecutive passes that should’ve beenruns.

    MN now is the favorite, now it would be humiliating to not get to the playoffs. MN has better playoff team after playoff team. And yet …. Your waiting for the shoe to drop aren’t you. You saw Jones got hurt, he can’t continue at this pace. GB knows this since Jones has been hurt again and again and again. He got hurt near the end. The key for MN “script has flipped”, can they duplicate as the hunted. We will see, maybe this team is different, maybe Jones doesn’t get hurt (for the first time in his career), maybe the QB is really an all pro and all the previous years were fake? Not buying it but unlike other GB fans I would rather see MN win then Detroit or Chicago.

    • @RednGone

      That's the thing. Nobody needs to "buy" it. I don't get why sports talk is like that. We are CLEARLY playing without a full deck of cards, without a perfect roster, without strong trenches, and without a top QB
      It will be a CHALLENGE to win the division and a CHALLENGE to win playoff games. It CAN happen as seen in 2017, and more often than not it doesn't. It's just worth enjoying KOC doing what he can with what he's got.
      For Jones, he will get spelled more when he's not playing against GB. We might also pull some trades if the season goes well.

      100% correct. Allowing Nailor to "field" that punt at the end of the 1st half was KOC's first grievous error. Forcing the interception to Aaron Jones was #2. Going for it on 4th & 1 was mistake #3. That was a clear cut effort to gain a first down in order to set up Aaron Jones for a Lambeau Leap. 3 points there would have forced GB to score 2 TD's in less than two minutes. Highly unlikely, but recovering an onside kick and kicking a field goal FOR THE WIN could have happened.

    • @unicornhearts
      @unicornhearts 4 дня назад +2

      @@WolframeHDXAh, but they didn’t. It took an onside kick.
      Since you asked:
      Jalen Nailor could’ve not muffed the punt that led to a Packers’ touchdown right before the half.
      The offense could’ve scored off of that third Jordan Love interception late in the game instead of going three and out.
      They could’ve kicked another FG, instead of going for it on 4th down and not getting one yard, forcing the Packers to score two TDs with no timeouts except the two minute warning.
      They could’ve run the ball a hell of a lot more.
