This video shows exactly why I started stacking. I’m leaving a legacy for my kids the same as this man’s father left for him. The difference for my kids is that I’m teaching them the value of what’s there so they don’t have to guess or be taken advantage of. We don’t have someone as EPIC as Tim in our area.
This man is extremely fortunate he found Tim's shop. These are the people who can, and do, get ripped off so easily. It is important to educate one self when dealing with anything of potential value.
i pass on platinum and palladium but I happily buy the silver and gold. Passing the wealth down to your children is a good thing but teaching them about it before you die is so much better
I just started to buy platinum...got my first about a week ago. I think it is too cheap, and too valuable to the MIC...Yankee needs to ask Tim what he thinks?
Facts I have been teaching mine for the last 4yrs told them when I go what everything is worth and the value changes goes up, I really need to do an chart of all I have
Another case where the kids or close relatives are cashing in the father's or uncle's stash as fast as they can. They have absolutely no interest in the precious metals, or the numismatic value. Their only interest is in how much cash they can get at this moment. No concept of hedging against inflation or holding the stash until the spot price is higher, or they have a real emergency. They want the cash and already have plans how they will spend it, vacation, this or that, etc. SMH
I just wanna take a moment to say this video is very informative and I really love and enjoy how you educate this gentleman after he received his coin collection from his father. This was beautiful
I like your definition of Stacking Yankee, I have been stacking gold since it was around $220 per ounce (year 2000 approx) and still got it and am still buying it. Tim knows his onions. Scotland is great, been several times, fish and chips followed by a deep fried Mars bar is well a culinary delight, no seriously Scotland is great and so are the people,
@ 60 Million years ago Scotland actually broke off from North America and connected to the UK. The geography is totally different to England, it is a complete contrast. Really.
This guy was VERY smart in one way... he brought it to Tim! Imagine a less than honorable person could have told him it's worth $3,000 and I'll bet he would have been happy. With my silver/coins, guns and ham radios... my fear is that if I pass before my wife, she will sell them for what I told her I paid for them! 😉🤪
This is why I buy small silver gifts for my kids. I recently bought my son a samurai bar from goldenstate mint and I buy my daughter silver with animals on it. They are teenagers. I buy them stuff that i will know they are interested in. Then when i give it to them, I take the opportunity to show them my stack. I can tell my son atleast is starting to catch the bug. Hes 13. He has his own compartment in my safe, with cash and some PM. Educate your kids in absolutely everything you can. Yesterday i gave my daughter a talk about interest rates. I want my kids to have a stong understanding of wealth and finance.
That's good that the father was smart enough to put money away into precious metals. It's a shame the practice wasn't passed on, though. Certainly sad to see it all sold just to go on vacation!
How about holding it all for their kids? Only in America one generation goes without to make sure their kids have what they need. The kids get it and blow it all and dont even consider the grandkids... I find this kind of pathetic!
I am blessed to have couple awesome LCS coin shops near my area, there only like Twenty minutes away. Every week stacking at my local coin shops more silver weight & gold once month. I love exchanging federal reserve notes for real money precious metals anytime of the week.
@ I believe hydrogen power is the choice for the future. Hydrogen storage use to be dangerous but with hydrogen hydride it’s safe they have knocked the valve off these and they won’t explode they slowly release the hydrogen it’s quite amazing.
Me too That's for my daughter I'm being stalker I got 40 oz of American eagle and I got also 40 oz of Buffalo and I got 30 oz or so out Maple leaf I'll also got a lot of silver and that's for my daughter when she grow up I don't need to sell ❤❤❤❤
The guy knows nothing about precious metals 😅.......he's just cashing in fast on his dad's hard earned stack. Quite sad really. If you cant save money for going on a trip, you cant afford the trip.
@ indeed , that man right there I doesn’t matter if he slips a little , he still is a world of knowledge but you were there for him like good friends do , great video Yankee
My problem with buying from people as this is of course provenance. I don't buy metal ( even though Tim s show fascinates something in my inner self) ,but how do you establish the customer has a legitimate right to sell? I deal in art( and its like walking a cliff). I recently bought a beautiful print from mid century era, only to have the Lady's mother come and demand it back. Of course I immediately gave it to her and was out the purchase price , which is nothing compared to what Tim deals with daily. Love your show.❤
The main reason some people travel a long way to sell their gold and silver in another state is some states require that coin stores or dealers must keep the gold and silver for 90 days and cannot sell it. Theirfore some coin shop owners do not want to buy or in large amounts.
Platinum and Palladium are a terrific buy RN. When I started Platinum was double what Gold was. Gold 600 Platinum 2grand. I know people don't like Pl + Pd cuz its not a monetary metal and mostly controlled by eastern Europe, but I assure u when u sell it u get cold hard cash. Best tome to buy in is when the price is undervalued.
I got the bug, never cared for jewelry but this Ruby ring just has to have it, my Ruby is lab created with zero inclusions, can't seem to find another, the lab diamonds were sweet too, anyway my bling bling is only around $80😊😊😊

This video and some of the comments remind me of quote from Ecclesiastes. “And who knows whether that person will be wise or foolish? Yet they will have control over all the fruit of my toil into which I have poured my effort and skill under the sun. This too is meaningless.” -Ecc 2:19 I’m not saying the son was foolish, nor that the father was wrong to leave an inheritance to his heirs, but I do think it’s more important to pass on wisdom (education) than possessions. This verse is also a important reminder that material possessions are not the most important thing
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” - Matthew 6:19-21
Just had to come back & further comment; couldn't help myself. Tim has great cognizance, for a guy in his 70s. Imagine if ol' Sleepy Joe Byeden was running the shop; even for a day! 🙄🤨
I don't know what led him to Tim but he woke up on the right side of the bed and did not take this to a pawn shop. Friend, you don't know how lucky you are!
I don't have kids so nobody's getting nothing lol. I'm blowing it all before I hit them dusty trails in the sky. Tim trying to sell Yankee some land on the ocean coin 😅😅😅
Be sure and have a way of it being transferred to a person you want though just in case you die in an accident or something. I'm rooting for you to blow it and enjoy life in the mean time though.
I figure he is going to get another appraisal from another precious metal dealer. Since he knows nothing about the value you would think one would be curious to find out more specifics about the value of each coin and metal and also wonder why his dad stored this. Hate that people don't understand this and just pack it around to get it appraised and then just take the cash with no thought about why a person might save precious metals. I'm sure his sister is eager to get the money. They just see dollar signs and vacations.

You are a wise man, Steven. Train those kids well! 👌🏼
Here's hoping tRUMP screws you all on his way to glory for himself.
Bingo
Leaf a legacy, too. Plant a tree with your kids. It won't mean anything to them for forty years, though 😂
@@bjdottcom777 already did that. Planted a line of apple trees that the deer are already enjoying in the back yard.👍

Knowledge is power!
I’m sure there are some people who would buy the platinum and palladium for silver price
Tim is so casual and cool. As well as humble and fair. That's a rare combo these days.
Father spends a lifetime stacking and the son blows it in 2 weeks on a trip to Scotland. SMH.
Yea, but unfortunately that's what usually happens...
If you want your children to make wiser decisions with the legacy you leave them, it's your responsibility to teach and guide them before you go.
Afternoon Z.
Don't go to Scotland.(July / August, maybe?)
Even the Romans didn't want it.

I thought he was selling it to help his step mother...my jaw dropped when he said he was going on a vacation with it
@@bruceposch1449 thought the same 😮
Good for him! Those coins are worth around $1200 instead of $30. Not so fake after all.
So many with "smart" fathers who stacked silver... making Dad proud by cashing in instead of learning what Dad knew!
Yep that what I said, Tim's face when he knows these kids are cashing in dads horde for garbage!
I hope "smart father" is what my kids think when they inherit my stack some day!
@@czechstacker better teach them about this stuff then.
@marclski8052 dads fault for not teaching his kids

We don't have anyone like tim in Illinois
Tim is a gentleman & a scholar
We need the podcast with Tim and Harry! 🙏
Love Tim's genuine nature and Yankee your right there to assist with kind words and assistance!
