@@EpicCardboardProps - You said that the completed model was very heavy. The neck also isn't attached very firmly to the head.If you tried to hang the model I do not think the neck would support the head, So how do you hang it on a wall?
@@donmiller2908 Don't underestimate that connection Don, it is very sturdy and attached firmly. But indeed the problem is more at the base of the neck ... you can't just glue the base on a plate for instance, because with the weight of the head it won't stick for long. What I would do I think is make a kind of pedestal made out of wood with 1 or 2 very long sturdy rods built on it. Then I would make 1 or 2 holes according to the rods I made, on the back of the neck all the way through the neck until inside the mouth. That way these rods will sustain the head efficiently without being visible... but the pedestal and especially the connections between the rods and the pedestal would have to be very sturdy though. That is pretty much the most efficient and "easy" way to do it for me. :)
This is beautiful and it's amazing how you have the templates for anyone to use! My question is, where can I find the patience to do all of this, and how big of a bucket would I need for my tears of frustration, lol.

Amazing work, I loved the accent and also I have a question: How long did it take to finish? Because whatever time you took to finish it, I would take mostly three or four times to do it. Anyway I really enjoyed it. Liked and subscribed already.
Thank you! Well that's quite the opposite actually, for me it's always a long process, for this one it took about a month at a rate of a few hours per day, but I had to make it from scratch (without templates and without this tutorial of course) I had to figure out how to make every single piece, find out how to do every steps..., record the tutorial, make the templates for you and so one... so it's not a good evaluation of the time that you'd spent on it at all lol. Actually when I posted the tutorial on my channel I started to receive pictures of the end result from subscribers one week after posting it. So you could be done in a week or even a few days if you're committed and you know what you're doing ;)
I just stumbled across this, and I have recently moved and so I have a whole bunch of boxes lying around and I love doing things like this, so this is just up my alley. I do have a question though, how do you come up with your templates? Also, how did you measure where the nose holes go? Because I always see always seem to misjudge measuring things like those.
Glad to hear it Heather, you'll find all templates to make this build in my shop the description box below the video 😉 The process to make the templates is tricky to explain, as it is 70% of the build actually it is impossible for me to summarise it in a few sentences. But basically for this one I found a few good picture of it in different angles and I worked from them doing math drawings and so on... About the nose holes I just positioned them as they are on the reference pictures (that you get with the templates) 🙂
@@EpicCardboardProps Thank you for the response. It is very kind of you. If you are up for making a video on how you make your templates, I would be very interested in it, but that sounds like it might be something that would be very involved… When I was in school I actually had to learn to make a chair that could support a person out of cardboard. It was definitely an interesting prospect. Of course, I almost sliced my thumb off and ended up in the emergency room... So fail there, but I have tried to make costume props out of cardboard and they've never seemed all that sturdy. Seeing your process is eye opening and very interesting. Do you ever use paint? If so, what kind of paint would you use?
@@heathercampbell6059 You're welcome! About the painting, well cardboard is not a good material when it comes to that part unfortunately... so you have to be aware that painting it is gonna make all the imperfections much more visible, and it may end up to look a little bit like a craft made by a young child lol to a certain extent... (That's the reason why I don't paint them), that being said I'm quite demanding with my props, maybe too much lol. But if you want to paint it I recommend you to use a primer first and then apply several thin layers of paint in order not to soak the cardboard. Acrylic paint might be a good one to use for that 😉

Making the entire body would be a tremendous job 0048 Ramanan.B.R! Like six months even more and I try to publish 2 tutorials a month... So I can't, but maybe in the long run one piece at a time, I'll think about it 😉
I loved that the process was well explained, especially the fact that it is a great project, beautiful by the way, many are not so specific but here we were able to start from scratch by doing something great, with things super easy to find I loved it, now I don't know how I could live without this channel, they are great projects.
It is brilliant and strong, but very labour intensive. Nevertheless it is very impressive. For a quicker one I would make a former for each half from clay, soil or sand, protected with cling film, then apply up to twelve layers of paper, reinforcing the inside later if necessary.
Thank you! Well of course you could do it differently for less effort using clay and other material, but this channel is called Epic Cardboard Props, making most of it with cardboard was the challenge 🙂
I wish I could get ahold of this amazing man to ask some personal business questions itd be amazing to get advice from him and it surely would make my projects easier to get done too.

seriously, some people are just on a whole other level
Haha thanks 😊
Try to build the body for it. You are doing an amazing work👍👍👍
Making the entire body would be a tremendous job 0048 Ramanan.B.R! Like six months even more and I try to publish 2 tutorials a month... So I can't, but maybe in the long run one piece at a time, I'll think about it 😉
Its not only about your work , but your presentation is good too
That's a really nice compliment! Thank you Gowtham Deepak!!

I’m a big fan of JP and JW. I’m doing this project right now. Greetings from Peru.
So glad to hear it Daniel Ernesto!! Don't hesitate to ask me you have any questions while you work on it, I'm always there to help!
I loved that the process was well explained, especially the fact that it is a great project, beautiful by the way, many are not so specific but here we were able to start from scratch by doing something great, with things super easy to find I loved it, now I don't know how I could live without this channel, they are great projects.
Oh thanks for the kind words Esperanza, it means a lot! Glad you are enjoying my videos! 🙂
Что сказать - Мастер !!!
Руки и голова золотые !!!
That's a nice compliment! Thank you Дед Мартыненко!!
Just finished watching this vedio i like the one where you make a pre retcon version of the t- rex head from jurrassic world
Thanks for the idea Javon Cambridge, I'll think about it
my favorite dinosaurs are the T-rex and the Triceratops
It is brilliant and strong, but very labour intensive. Nevertheless it is very impressive. For a quicker one I would make a former for each half from clay, soil or sand, protected with cling film, then apply up to twelve layers of paper, reinforcing the inside later if necessary.
Thank you! Well of course you could do it differently for less effort using clay and other material, but this channel is called Epic Cardboard Props, making most of it with cardboard was the challenge 🙂
you make your own dream come true 💞
I wish I could get ahold of this amazing man to ask some personal business questions itd be amazing to get advice from him and it surely would make my projects easier to get done too.
