    Amazing as always Dilby. As someone else has said in the comments, your channel is amazing for those wanting to go from intermediate to approaching a more pro sound. 'Less is more' especially resonates with me. Sometime you have to be ruthless and cut elements that no longer fit with the track!

    Id say about 95% of tutorials for music production in a daw are pretty useless. stuff like "top ten ways to add width to your track" or "five ways to sidechain" or stuff like that. I feel like a huge number of producers are already very experienced in their ability to actually execute things, but lack in the intuition that is extremely useful, even required to some extent, for more "advanced" or focused projects.
    Your videos provide that extra insight into the intuitive process behind mixing, which i really like . I especially enjoy how you walk us through both the thought process of the hypothetical producer and your own thought process as a the person mixing the track.
    Thanks for the great, and particularly useful video!

    • @dilbydj
      @dilbydj  Год назад

      Could also try that. The original one was also pretty long so that can cause issues depending on the bass you're using.

  • @emers1439
    @emers1439 Год назад +1

    Hey mate great video, quick question regarding the bass, I see you took away the sub here, could you not have just eq'd the sub and mid bass so they sat better together? Seen alot of producers stating the importance of having a seperate sub for more control? What's your take on this? Keep up the great work pal 😎😎🙏

    • @dilbydj
      @dilbydj  Год назад +2

      As I said in the video, the sub layer was totally unnecessary in this case. The main bass had plenty of sub frequencies and the sub layer was too low to be useful or useable. I see this a lot and it can really destroy the low end of a track, and in the context of this video, make it super complicated to mix. I think a lot of people love to complicate things. My goal with the channel is to show people that simple is generally better and it's more important to focus on the song writing and the idea than to focus on production techniques.
      To clarify, there can be situations where a sub layer makes total sense, but this should be done for a reason not just as a general rule (like any production technique). Add a sub layer because the track is lacking power and has space for it, not because X or Y producer said you always need a sub bass layer.
      The other thing I see a lot is people trying to do complicated layering and production when they haven't actually mastered the ability to nail a more simple version in the first place. I always advise to focus on strong simple foundations and doing everything for a specific reason. Like in this example there were 3 layers in the bass, but in the end, it sounded cleaner and punchier without the sub or top layers.
      Hope that clarifies it mate :)

      @emers1439 Год назад

      @@dilbydj wow man thanks for the detailed reply 🙏 absolutely makes perfect sense when you put it like that. I am also guilty of over complicating things so this will definitely help me going forward, your a legend of the game mate thankyou and god bless, keep the top content coming bro 💯💯👌🎶🎶

    Dilby, how do you deal with the volume spike on the 2 and 4 when both kick and clap hit together? I have been grouping kick and clap and soft clipping them together using saturator so that every kick and kick/clap hit are all equal volume before they even get to the limiter on the master. Is this technique the "standard" way or is there a better technique? And yes, i always high pass clap to get less frequency build up but volume always seems to spike even when i lower volume of clap. I like loud punchy claps as i do more heavier, in-your-face tech house. Any tips would be super appreciated. Love your channel and keep up the good work!

    • @dilbydj
