What an impressive run for Texas! They ruled the 80s with that 5 time back to back and I didn't realize they had placed 2nd back to back too in 82 and 83. Just wow!! And that first runner in 1980 is oh so beautiful !

Shout out to Halle Berry (Ohio) who place 1st runner up at Miss USA 1986 and top 10 at Miss World 1986. In the 80s, the first runner up at Miss USA would go to Miss World.

Her best friend at miss world was Miss Trinidad and Tobago, who won Miss World. She won an acting scholarship as part of her prize and gave it to Halle Berry
@@1700dave yes that's true. Part of Giselle's prizes was a Hollywood contract, she refused it because of her busy schedules. She gave that Hollywood contract to her pageant best friend Halle Berry and the rest is history

This is just my opinion ... leaving out MUSA1984 Mai Shanley is ultra disrespectful if you omitted others, but she was the only one not shown. Then, MUSA1991 Kelli McCarty, not having sound, whether you disagree what she did after winning the title, that night in 1991, she EARNED that crown and you should show it how it aired. I grew up watching all three (at the time because I know MTU didn't debut until 1983) with my mom, it was something special for the both of us and I know my mom would be just as upset about those two omissions as I am. Whatever your reason was for these two glaring mistakes, again, my opinion, fix it. Don't try to re-write history.
Shout out to the first runner up at MUSA1986, the BEAUTIFUL & only contestant to win an Academy Award (Miss Ohio 1986 Halle Berry) ... to the woman that sadly was treated unfairly by a lot of the public, another STUNNING beautiful woman, MUSA1990 Carole Gist and may she rest in peace, the third in the "Triple Crown" of extraordinary stunning beautiful women, MUSA & MU1995 Chelsi Smith (the first Miss Texas to win Miss Congeniality at MUSA). May she rest in peace in our hearts forever.
Hi, mind to share especially for us who are not familiar with past titleholder, why would they ommited Mai Shanley's crowning and what was the issue with Kelli McCarthy??
@@bcdefghijKIKI I honestly don't know why they omitted Mai's crowning but with Kelli, after her contract ended with the NBC soap opera "Passions," in 1999, she went to work in the adult film industry with Vivid Entertainment, where she was very smart and had it in her contract who said would and would not work with.

I wished Shannon Marketic (Miss USA 1992) kept the look and gown when she won at Miss USA (or a similar styled gown) at Miss Universe, but especially the look, she "pops" and stand out facially here, but at Miss Universe, she looked beautiful but "bland" or safe. Her look here was Universe ready look, not when she actually competed at Miss Universe 1992.
Every Miss USA winners that were competing in Bangkok, Thailand, are all bland. All their first runners up were more deserving

There is one out there somewhere about the GuyRex organization that ran the Miss Texas pageant at the time. There were experts at what they did and were tremendously successful as demonstrated by the Texas Aces.
