Keyboard player is Reese Wynans, who was SRV’s keyboard player with Double Trouble. The other guitarist is Kirk Fletcher who also is an amazing player.
When I got to see Joe in Vancouver, he introduced Reese in such a cool way, place went NUTZ when he said “member of the rock n roll hall of fame with Double Trouble”. Including me n my wife.
Chris Layton and Reese both played for Kenny Wayne Shepherd for a good while, Chris is still his drummer. I saw Reese play at International Blues Challenge in Memphis several years back; he was with Bart Walker from Austin, TX who won best guitarist and 2nd overall. Reese was also the original keyboard for the Allman Bros Band before Gregg came home from California to join the band.
Oh, that's where I know him from! I listen to a lot of Beth Hart but don't post much attention to who she's with. This guy is amazing, I'll have to find more from him.
Anyone notice that Joe's playing one of blues great Albert Kings Gibson Flying V guitars? King who passed in 1992 was left handed. Joe's restrung it to play right handed. Albert's name is embedded in ivory within the frets, but upside down because of Joe's string changes. I have this entire concert on Blu ray, and it's killer.
@@vrvaughnI must disagree. Albert did not play the guitar upside down. Albert’s Flying V was a left hand guitar as the tone and volume controls are on the top along with the cable when Joe plays it. Therefore, it definitely had to be restrung for a right handed player. ✌🏼😎🇺🇸
I must disagree also. That is Albert King's ( one of three) guitar which is a right handed guitar, which was lent to Joe by Steven Seagal, who purchased it from Albert's estate. I got that straight from Joe himself.
Another child prodigy is Derek Trucks. He was about 13 when he opened for BB King. Went on to join The Allman Brothers, played in Eric Clapton's band. Now he fronts his own band, the Tedeschi Trucks Band, with his talented wife Susan.
Trucks is a beast on guitar for sure! If you haven't already see it you gotta check out the performance of "Going down" at the rock 'n roll hall of fame, it's got Trucks, Bonamassa and Billy Gibbons and it's straight up 🔥🔥🔥
I saw Derek Trucks when he was 12 at Charlie Daniels Volunteer Jam near Nashville. He was playing the red SG while channeling Duane Allman. He got a standing ovation!
I love the fact that he always wears a suit on stage. One day I was driving behind his tour bus and didn't even know it. Also, he doesn't hog the spotlight but lets other musicians shine.
You MUST hear Joe's "Mountain Time" played live at the Royal Albert Hall. The video is stunning visually and sonically! West on 80 and it won't take too long, 'Til the road starts climbing up to mountain time. The girl I know there, she lives free and easy, And she shows me wonders and she takes my mind.
Outstanding. A must for you both is "Stone Cold" by Jimmy Barnes featuring Joe Bonamassa on guitar. Will introduce you to one of Australia's great rock voices. Blue eyed soul for days. It's one of the things you asked about missing recently 🇭🇲
Yes Indeed, 3 words that make my heart smile, (blues, Joe Bonamassa , Jimmy Barnes) you combine all three with a cool song, Stone Cold, and you have perfection.
I’ve always loved The Blues because you just can’t fake it, just playing the notes don’t cut it, there has to be that magic that connects the souls of the player and the listener. You can’t explain it, but everyone gets it. ✌️
Shared a night with a grand daughter last year, Saw hem in a small venue in Riverside , Ca. Only a few hundred people, so needless to say we had great seats, She was so excited to share music that I enjoy, and was one of the youngest in the crowed ( 21yrs.), P.S. I also took her to see Robert Cray in the summer, Love to see your reactions !!
You need to listen to "Stone Cold" with Jimmy Barnes on vocals, Joe Bonamassa on guitar.Jimmy's vocals will blow you away. Please consider doing this, you won't be disappointed.
His background singers are some of the best soul and blues singers in Australia. They have careers away from Joe. Props to him for pulling great musicians together.
You're right Jay, Blues artists are very good about not only naming their bandmates, but showcasing their talents. You just don't see that much anywhere else.
Joe did this song justice, but Albert King had a big hit with this song in the early 70s and the song by him was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame. Hopefully you'll find the time to react to it, it's amazing.
You have winner with this one guys! The guitar that Joe is using is almost exactly the same as Albert Kings guitar who popularized the "I'll Play the Blues for You" all those yrs ago!
I have a friend in Tennessee that is a big Joe Bonamassa fan. She made a life size stained glass guitar for him. She was able to give it to him back stage at one of his concerts. He loved it.
Black Country Communion Joe Bonamassa guitar & vocals Glenn Hughes vocals & bass Jason Bonham drums Derek Sherinian keyboards. Great supergroup, you should check them out.
Each & every one of those musicians on that stage (including the backing singers) are at the top of their game! And I am in absolute awe of them all. They made it look so easy! I had not heard that song before, but it was great, Joe Bonamassa has a great voice, I loved it. ❤🎶🎼🇬🇧
Tina Guo is amazing! You have to see her to really appreciate what she does with her cello. Great concert. It is acoustic and a different sound from Joe that you should experience. Reese Wynans was there on piano too, but Woke Up Dreaming is just Joe and Tina. Drive features Tina on Erhu and is a slower smoother song with the whole band. Enjoy!
Love it Jay and Amber. Been a fan of JoeyB, as I call him, since I discovered his first album. Not only is he a great player, but he's helping to keep the blues alive with his record label and his annual Keeping the Blues Alive cruise. You might want to check out Joe doing "Takin' the Hit" from Live at Rockpalast. I think it's one of the greatest displays of guitar skills of all-time, and his bass player, Jeff Czar, is no slouch either.
I met Joe and his family years ago when I worked at a hospital in the E.R.... They brought his grandmother in to be treated and I got to meet them all... It was a pretty cool experience but he was just a regular person and didn't have a celebrity air about him... Another great reaction guys...Keep being awesome !!!...
One of the great things about living in Memphis is seeing such talent especially early in their careers. I had the pleasure to see the current blues prodigy when he was 15 at the King Biscuit Blues Festival. That is Christone “Kingfish” Ingram from Clarksdale MS. He was doing gigs in Clarksdale since he was 10 and just exploded. He is now 24 years old and already won the Grammy for Best Contemporary Blues Artist. 60 Minutes did a story on him. Jay and Amber I’m not asking you to react to him on this platform because that is outside the scope of this site. But I encourage anyone to check him out on your on. You will not regret it.
It is one the greatest live albums I've ever heard, was lucky enough to be there that night front row, it made me all emotional, it was stunning and soulful , you are right the whole show is a masterpiece in Music . That Band is so tight 💯🔥👌
The show at the Greek Theatre was the final show in the "3 Kings" tour, featuring the music of B.B. King, Albert King, and Freddie King. The whole show is fire!
Definitely one of the best guitarist around today. I think he the hardest working man in the music industry today. Constantly touring & putting out.great albums. Also projects with other musicians to. He has a great album out with Beth Hart. And you should check out the supergroup that Joe's in called Black County Communion. The band consists of Joe on guitar & vocals, the voice of rock, Glenn Hughes who also plays bass. Glenn was in Deep Purple & other great bands. Glenn has also appeared on some of Joe's albums. Jason Bonham, John's son on drums & Derek Sherinian on keyboards from Dream Theater. They've put out four studio albums & one Live. They sound like a seventies classic rock band. But all just great stuff. I hope you check them out.
When you hit the heights and gain as much respect as Joe you get to surround yourself with guys like Reese on keyboard and Kirk on guitar. Seeing him live is such a great experience.
Huge fan of Joe Bonamassa!! I have seen him several times and this song more than once!! Reese Wynans is a monster on the keys!! Anton Figg who is playing the drums in this video is one of my favorites also. He doesn’t tour with Joe anymore, unfortunately… Amber I am really glad that you pointed out his vocals, which I think are greatly underrated!!
Somehow, I hadn't heard this one before. Wowzer! The guitar, and that rich tone in his voice, then you add the horns and those incredible background singers...Heaven!
Joe Bonamassa is one of my favourite artists to see live and there is a video that I think you should react to of Joe & paul Rodgers ( possibly one of the greatest blues/rock voices of all time) performing the Free song "walking in my shadow " ....its an absolutely stunning piece of music & a fabulous collaboration by two megastars
I love Joe Bonamassa he is an awesome guitar player saw him in concert best show ever. Thank you for playing this please do some more songs ❤❤❤JOE BONAMASSA!!
Last year, a friend of mine played with him on stage During the David Bowie celebration tour with Todd Rundgren. He was doing a few songs that SRV played on. Angeline said he was just the nicest guy and one hell of a guitar player
Your absolutely on point with every thing you said Amber. Not only is Joe one of the best guitarist in the world but he surrounds himself with the best musicians in the business. A few facts if your interested , Keyboards -- Reese Wynans formerly of Double Trouble ( Stevie Ray Vaughns backup band, Drums -- Anton Fig formerly of the Paul Shafer Band ( Late Night with David Letterman's house band ) , Bass -- Michael Rhodes one of the most sought after and in demand session musicians in Nashville untill his passing last year , Rhythm guitar -- Kirk Fletcher formerly of the Fabulous Thunderbirds ( Kirk has 6 studio albums and 1 live album under his belt .
The drummer is Antoine Figg, the drummer of Paul Shaffer's band on the David Letterman show. If you guys are too young to remember those people I'm going to cry.
seen him a 3 times, every time is more epic than the last. This whole band is one of the best live perfomances ive ever witnessed. Been to many concerts since the 80's,
There is just soooo much Joe B out there it's hard to pick where you should go next, "Bloodline" "Black Country Communion" "Rock Candy Funk Party" Beth Hart... He produced and played on Marc Broussard's latest Album, his work with Jimmy Barnes..... Yes!....."Stone Cold" with Jimmy on vox....you'll LOVE it!
I've been going to see Joe Bonamassa for almost 20 years at very small venues. Please check out (Going Down) 8:09 from this concert. By the way he's playing Albert King's guitar on this song. That's SRV keyboard player.
I so enjoy watching you guys reacting to music for the first time that I have enjoyed for years. But this was the first time seeing you reacting to something I haven't seen myself. Like you, I was blown away by this performance. It is so satisfying to see performers in this day and age actually playing from the soul as opposed to the computer-generated drivel that is out there now.
The more blues artists of this caliber thr better. My very favorite genre. Most all rock and other music stems from the blues. It most be played by many and respected forever. Melissa Ward here.
WOW!!!!!! That is one of the best blues performances I've ever heard. I'm embarrassed to say I'd never heard of Joe Bonamassa. Now I've got another rabbit hole to dive into. So many amazing instrumentalists have decent voices or they have a great voice and are decent on an instrument. Joe is incredible on guitar and you can hear the BB King influence. But he's got an absolute phenomenal voice, at times he sounds like Boz Skaggs. But it's not just his stupendous guitar and vocals. The backup singers were perfection and the band is world class. Even the arrangement was spot on. This is definitely going on my play list. Thank you for once again opening my eyes to a new performer and putting a BIG smile on my face! Keep up the great work!
Thank you for the reaction. Joe's fantastic as always 😊 it's a real testament that he shares the stage and everyone gets to shine. He has so much music. If you are wanting something that is almost 180⁰ check out "Redemption" you will get to see him in the studio BUT the whole band plays like a live performance.
This is my favorite Bonamassa song. I've been to two of his concerts. Still haven't heard this song live but have other great songs. If there is a concert near you, go to it. You will ABSOLUTELY love it! Two hours of non stop playing.
Joe is legitimately one of the cleanest players and vocalists. Hear lots of stories of him being a genuinely kind person too.
Keyboard player is Reese Wynans, who was SRV’s keyboard player with Double Trouble. The other guitarist is Kirk Fletcher who also is an amazing player.
i saw joe in austin back in october, with reese of course, and chris layton sat in to play crossfire (video on my facebook)!
Hall of fame. member.
When I got to see Joe in Vancouver, he introduced Reese in such a cool way, place went NUTZ when he said “member of the rock n roll hall of fame with Double Trouble”. Including me n my wife.

Reese was also the original keyboard for the Allman Bros Band before Gregg came home from California to join the band.
Don’t forget Anton Fig on drums! He’s played with people from Kiss to bb king.
When you open for B. B. King at age 12, you're a child prodigy! His collaborations with Beth Hart are special, as you've seen in two reactions.
Oh, that's where I know him from! I listen to a lot of Beth Hart but don't post much attention to who she's with. This guy is amazing, I'll have to find more from him.

Don’t forget Jonny Lang!
Yes!!!! Jay and Amber absolutely have to check him out! I'll recommend "Midnight in Harlem" by the Tedeschi Trucks Band.
I love the fact that he always wears a suit on stage. One day I was driving behind his tour bus and didn't even know it. Also, he doesn't hog the spotlight but lets other musicians shine.
When you have some of the best with you on stage, let them fan the flames!!!!! 🌹

I've been wanting them to just discover Jimmy full stop lol.
Did you notice one of the backup singers was Jimmy’s daughter Mahalia (who should have won her season of the Voice Australia IMHO
It will be a gift that keeps on giving if they see Jimmy sing 🇭🇲
I came here to write the exact comment! Stone Cold is absolutely beautiful.
I’ve always loved The Blues because you just can’t fake it, just playing the notes don’t cut it, there has to be that magic that connects the souls of the player and the listener. You can’t explain it, but everyone gets it. ✌️
It is so good to see 👀 young people into the blues 💙. Go ahead kids 💙 😊😊.
I am absolutely down with more blues on the channel.
I second that!
some SRV would be nice
@@Hobodeluxe960 Theyve done Texas Flood and Voodoo Chile i believ.e
Can't go wrong with Joe B. He plugs the amp into the guitar and the guitar into his soul.
Copy that bro
Also his song "Sloe Gin" is phenomenal

The one on the right is Mahalia Barnes, Jimmy Barnes daughter
Mahalia Barnes has an incredible voice!!
And Reese Wynans on keys is just like Joe. So damn skilled.
You're right Jay, Blues artists are very good about not only naming their bandmates, but showcasing their talents. You just don't see that much anywhere else.
On Albert King's flying V - Killing as Joe always does!!!
This song was a classic for Albert King back in the early 70's.
Not only that but he's playing Albert King's old Flying V guitar. Joe has a huge collection of classic and collectable guitars and amps.
Really wish they listened to Albert's original version instead.
You have to love a man whose nickname is the Velvet Bulldozer.
Reese Wynans on organ/keyboards, he played in Double Trouble with SRV 🔥
Joe did this song justice, but Albert King had a big hit with this song in the early 70s and the song by him was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame. Hopefully you'll find the time to react to it, it's amazing.
I’m pretty sure that is Albert Kings guitar he is playing
@@jamesscott2704 Yeah, that's definitely something Joe would do and that's a vintage V so I would bet you're correct.
Came here just to say that: Albert King's version is my favorite...

Another one of my favorites by Joe is "Asking around for you".

This was a big song for Albert King, who was SRV's mentor in his early days. So cool how everything in Blues is connected. Thanks as always.
I have a friend in Tennessee that is a big Joe Bonamassa fan. She made a life size stained glass guitar for him. She was able to give it to him back stage at one of his concerts. He loved it.
I saw Smokin’ Joe when he was about 12 warming up for 38 Special. It’s great to see a child prodigy living up to his potential.
love seeing the mucisianship from the live videos.
Saw Joe in Memphis back in October for my birthday. Wonderful show! 2+ hours went by in a snap. Another great reaction.

Drummer is Anton Fig from the David Letterman band.
Black Country Communion
Joe Bonamassa guitar & vocals
Glenn Hughes vocals & bass
Jason Bonham drums
Derek Sherinian keyboards.
Great supergroup, you should check them out.
The whole band could go their separate ways and survive. You ever get the chance you need to go see Joe Bonamassa in person

OMG!
The first song I heard from him was Dust Bowl and I've been hooked ever since!
Wow ! A lotta talent on that stage. That was cleansing.
I suggest checking Joe out in the supergroup Black Country Communion
That guy on the keyboard, Reese Wynans, used to play with SRV.

This is my favorite Bonamassa song. I've been to two of his concerts. Still haven't heard this song live but have other great songs. If there is a concert near you, go to it. You will ABSOLUTELY love it! Two hours of non stop playing.
Just saw him in November here in dallas. Great concert. Thanks for the reaction. Maybe try "going down" next?
Got this show on bluray disc. So good!
Check out Joe performing Just Got Paid in 2009 at the Royal Albert Hall. It will blow you away.
Joe Bonamassa and Eric Clapton at Albert Hall!!!!!! Going on down the road!!
