@@MrColtsfan44 I also met him in Nashville also Him and Michael Rhoades who is also the bass player here were both Playing with Ashley Cleveland at 3rd and Lindsey I have met them both and talked a bit with them and Ashley All of them are quite humble very nice people Not to mention Ashleys husband Kenny Greenburg Always a top notch show At 3AL Im am always there when they are on stage and yes i go back to 3AL before it was enlarged Always sat at the bar no more than 15 feet from the small stage
Joe is one of the best guitarists to come on the scene in several decades.... him, Derek Trucks, Warren Haynes... these are not FM radio guys or else they would be household names. Joe is huge in Europe because they have a better appreciation for MUSIC than we do in the U.S., generally speaking.
You can add Billy Strings, Molly Tuttle, Justin Johnson and even Samantha Fish (numerous YT vid's of her playing with JB) to that list.... Yeah, commercial radio sucks ass these days........

Kenny Wayne Shepherd/Band's "Blue on Black" is one for the ages. Also tagged by the great bluesmasters as a child. Doesn't play in the States enough, imo. I sure miss him in small venues. My oldest son met him a couple of times when he was an up and coming blues guitarist himself. Kenny signed his guitar and invited him to hang out on his tour bus. Nice dude but was struggling with a drug problem. 💜💚💛✌️

I am surprised anyone who likes the blues that don't know joe ,,, BB king invited Joe to go on tour with him as his opening act .. joe was 12 .. joe is a international star ..he is considered the best active blues getarist and it is said he has the largest collection of getaris from past greats . One of the things joe does is take young and struggling singers on tour with him to help them get there name out there . He learned that from BB
Joe has a fantastic rock supergroup with Glenn Hughes, Jason Bonham and Derek Sherinian. It's called Black Country Communion (named after the coal mining region Glenn and Jason were raised in in the UK). They broke up for awhile but they're back together now but it's pretty much a side project for all involved now (Glenn just joined The Dead Daisies). Joe and Glenn both share vocals in BCC and honestly their music is a fantastic throwback to 60s-70s hard rock. The song The Battle for Hadrian's Wall has Joe on vocals and it's just stunning. Hopefully the new CD scheduled for 2021 actually comes out but it's late already due to the health situation out there.

He had a fantastic different sound coming out because he was playing it left handed. Joe was playing Alberts original guitar on this cut. The original album by Albert " I'll play the Blues for you" was one of my favorites. Joe did a tribute to Albert at the Greek and all the cuts are fantastic.

Eric, Robert and Derek all ended up on stage for an unforgettable finale. You must have led a sheltered life not to be aware of Joe Bonamassa. He is probably the top blues/rock guitarist/singer of the 21st century. In 2009 he played the Royal Albert Hall in London. He generally always plays in a suit with sunglasses.

@@richardstoddard9111. You are right. Joe was gifted the guitar from the late Albert Kings estate. Look closely and you will see Albert’s name, rather faded, on the fret board. It wasn’t even necessary to change the nut at the end of the neck, as Albert, although he played left handed, the guitar was strung for a right handed player. Good job Albert didn’t have to play conventional chords with that set up, but it didn’t prevent him from playing incredible guitar.
Joe grew up in the Utica area of central new York he played at my company Christmas party when he was kid we all knew he was special talent. That was a long time ago it's great to see you loving it.

I saw him play in 2012 as part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Masters Series in Cleveland. The event that year was honoring Chuck Berry, and so a number of great artists, like Lemmy, Joe, Rick Derrienger, DMC, Ernie Isley and a bunch of others took turns playing 2 or 3 Chuck Berry tunes. The night concluded with Chuck performing a four song set and the entire group playing Berry's "Rock n' Roll Music" with all of them taking turns doing guitar solos.

I ran across a reaction video about 2 years ago, of Beth and Joe doing "I'll Take Care Of You", and that was quickly followed by them doing "I'd Rather Go Blind". Two years later I own 6 albums and a DVD, and have watched Joe's recent online concert from The Rayman Theater. I never knew I was a Blues fan before seeing them. LOL
I only found Joe a couple of years ago myself. Man, he jumped to the top of my playlists. My top two favorites right now are the rocker, Last Kiss and the studio version of Sloe Gin, (those sirens really crush me).
One of the best guitar players living, a child prodigy, and yes a great singer. Also a humble man you can catch him on you tube teach guitar, talking about how he gets his sounds, all Lund good man.
Since you have ties to Shreveport have to mention, song was written by Jerry Beach of Bossier City and became #1 hit by Albert King. Jerry toured globally and hosted weekly jam in Shreveport for 30+ years until just couple months before his death in Jan 2016.
Been to several Bonamassa concerts. Not only is he extremely talented, he always fills the stage with incredible talented musicians. "The River" is one of my favorites, but there are too many to name.
True story... The guitar Joe is playing is old, very rare and very valuable. He found it at a garage sale. Lady had a low garage sale price on it. Joe wrote the lady a check for what the guitar was worth which was a large sum of money!
I took my late father, then 85 yo, to see Joe B live here in town. He was joined by Ricky Medlocke (Lynyrd Sknynyrd) who also lives here in town. My 85yo daddy was so freakin' into seeing Joe live after fan-boying over his PBS shows!!!! He was 85 at a literal rock legend guitar show.....Thanks to Joe Bonamassa for being such groovy dude!!
The thing is his stage presence is a bad ass man, but he's totally opposite off stage. He's usually in a flannel shirt and jeans or coveralls. He's a self professed nerd. In fact there's a Vegas type sign outside his place that says "Nerdville". He binge watches American Pickers and The Simpsons. He was also a child prodigy. He's been playing like that since he was ten or twelve.
I've seen Joe live twice. He is amazing! Angel Of Mercy from this same concert is another great one! If you get a chance to see him you won't regret it!

This is an Albert King classic that has been covered by just about every hot shot blues guitarist. You should check out Albert's original version, and if you happen to think about it sometime, the great Frank Marino does a really nice version too.

@@squirrel2000 That's a great show. I actually got this DVD a few years ago for donating to my local PBS station. It was great to see Albert get so inspired by playing beside Stevie. Albert really doesn't get the props he deserves. Almost every blues and rock guitarist over the last 3 generations has a repetoire of Albert King licks even if they think they got it from someone else.

I’ve met Joe a couple of times. He is a different person on stage, he comes alive. In person he is a guy that is shy, awkward and a bit nerdy. He is super nice, just one of they guys. He signed an album (Live at the Greek Theater” for me “To the 797th best guitarist I know” lol one of my most treasured items in my collection. .

If you notice the guitar is upside down. The knobs are on the top instead of the bottom. This is the late great Albert Kings famous "Lucy" guitar, even has her name written on the headstock, Alberts is in the fret board. The organ is the great Reese Wynans who was the man on the keys for the late SRV. When Joe was a kid he opened for BB King during his summer break from school, so he was destined to become a legend in his own right.

Eric, Robert and Derek all ended up on stage for an unforgettable finale. My head was buzzing for days, not only because I had 5th row seats, but from all that talent and awesomeness being squeezed into my brain.

You must have led a sheltered life not to be aware of Joe Bonamassa. He is probably the top blues/rock guitarist/singer of the 21st century. In 2009 he played the Royal Albert Hall in London. He generally always plays in a suit with sunglasses.

@@richardstoddard9111. You are right. Joe was gifted the guitar from the late Albert Kings estate. Look closely and you will see Albert’s name, rather faded, on the fret board. It wasn’t even necessary to change the nut at the end of the neck, as Albert, although he played left handed, the guitar was strung for a right handed player. Good job Albert didn’t have to play conventional chords with that set up, but it didn’t prevent him from playing incredible guitar.
Joe grew up in the Utica area of central new York he played at my company Christmas party when he was kid we all knew he was special talent. That was a long time ago it's great to see you loving it.

I saw him play in 2012 as part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Masters Series in Cleveland. The event that year was honoring Chuck Berry, and so a number of great artists, like Lemmy, Joe, Rick Derrienger, DMC, Ernie Isley and a bunch of others took turns playing 2 or 3 Chuck Berry tunes. The night concluded with Chuck performing a four song set and the entire group playing Berry's "Rock n' Roll Music" with all of them taking turns doing guitar solos.

I ran across a reaction video about 2 years ago, of Beth and Joe doing "I'll Take Care Of You", and that was quickly followed by them doing "I'd Rather Go Blind". Two years later I own 6 albums and a DVD, and have watched Joe's recent online concert from The Rayman Theater. I never knew I was a Blues fan before seeing them. LOL

I only found Joe a couple of years ago myself. Man, he jumped to the top of my playlists. My top two favorites right now are the rocker, Last Kiss and the studio version of Sloe Gin, (those sirens really crush me).

Since you have ties to Shreveport have to mention, song was written by Jerry Beach of Bossier City and became #1 hit by Albert King.
Jerry toured globally and hosted weekly jam in Shreveport for 30+ years until just couple months before his death in Jan 2016.
Been to several Bonamassa concerts. Not only is he extremely talented, he always fills the stage with incredible talented musicians. "The River" is one of my favorites, but there are too many to name.
True story... The guitar Joe is playing is old, very rare and very valuable. He found it at a garage sale. Lady had a low garage sale price on it. Joe wrote the lady a check for what the guitar was worth which was a large sum of money!

I took my late father, then 85 yo, to see Joe B live here in town. He was joined by Ricky Medlocke (Lynyrd Sknynyrd) who also lives here in town. My 85yo daddy was so freakin' into seeing Joe live after fan-boying over his PBS shows!!!! He was 85 at a literal rock legend guitar show.....Thanks to Joe Bonamassa for being such groovy dude!!

Redemption, by this guy is wonderful. You really get to see how great his back up singers are.
The thing is his stage presence is a bad ass man, but he's totally opposite off stage. He's usually in a flannel shirt and jeans or coveralls. He's a self professed nerd. In fact there's a Vegas type sign outside his place that says "Nerdville". He binge watches American Pickers and The Simpsons. He was also a child prodigy. He's been playing like that since he was ten or twelve.

Thanks Jamel, first time I’ve seen a reaction for Joe Bonamassa, this was a tribute tour to blues guitarists BB King, who Joe opened for when he was 13, Freddy King and Albert King. Keyboardist is Reece Wynans who played with SRV. Highly recommend Drive, How Deep This River Runs or What Would I Do, plus about 100 other songs.

This is an Albert King classic that has been covered by just about every hot shot blues guitarist. You should check out Albert's original version, and if you happen to think about it sometime, the great Frank Marino does a really nice version too.
Not to mention the fact that he's using Albert King's actual guitar, Lucy. . . .
@@squirrel2000 I remeber hearing an interview with Stevie where he decided after a bad incident at work as a kid, he decided that what he really wanted to do was play the guitar like Albert King, and never had another job.
@@squirrel2000 That's a great show. I actually got this DVD a few years ago for donating to my local PBS station. It was great to see Albert get so inspired by playing beside Stevie. Albert really doesn't get the props he deserves. Almost every blues and rock guitarist over the last 3 generations has a repetoire of Albert King licks even if they think they got it from someone else.

Man, have you ever heard something that you didn't know you really NEEDED? This cut by Joe Bonamassa did it for me. I've seen him on PBS before, but this song made me really want to hear more. This is an old Albert King song, hence his choice of guitar. Albert King is one of the three Kings of the Blues...BB (of course), Albert, and Freddie. All are worth your time checking out.
Four Kings in a deck...New Orleans, late great, Earl King. Even Jimi Hendrix covered him, Ronnie Earl changed his last name in his honour. The man was also a incredible songwriter.

I’ve met Joe a couple of times. He is a different person on stage, he comes alive. In person he is a guy that is shy, awkward and a bit nerdy. He is super nice, just one of they guys. He signed an album (Live at the Greek Theater” for me “To the 797th best guitarist I know” lol one of my most treasured items in my collection. .

If you notice the guitar is upside down. The knobs are on the top instead of the bottom. This is the late great Albert Kings famous "Lucy" guitar, even has her name written on the headstock, Alberts is in the fret board. The organ is the great Reese Wynans who was the man on the keys for the late SRV. When Joe was a kid he opened for BB King during his summer break from school, so he was destined to become a legend in his own right.
