Even if you don’t like blues, Bonamassa has a way to make you appreciate it. His concerts aren’t stand up rock shows, they’re more like going to the theater yet some of the best shows I’ve ever seen.

I'm a 74 year old music lover. Been collecting records since 1955. Joe started young. He opened for B.B. King when he was 12, but could only do so on Friday and Saturday nights because he had homework the rest of the week. He holds the distinction of having more #1 Blues/Rock hits, gold and platinum albums than anyone in history. His performances with Beth Hart are epic as well as his other groups, Black Country Communion and Rock Candy Funk Party. (yes... I have 26 of his albums) I suggest you check out "Angel of Mercy" live at the Greek Theater or "Mountain Time" live at the Royal Albert Hall

You are watching a child prodigy who was 12 years old when he landed a gig sharing a billing with BB King in 1989. From that performance, BB King took him on tour as his opening act and the rest, as the saying goes, is history. Must listens: Trouble Town, Blue and Evil, You Upset Me, Feel Like Breaking Up Somebody's Home, You Left Me With Nothing But The Blues, Redemption, + many, many more.... the hole is very, very deep! Great reaction, TY.

I work in a music store. I like to try new things all the time because it helps with customer service. Joe Bonamassa was one of the first blues musicians where I thought to myself "do I like blues" I went down a small rabbit hole but I've come to thoroughly appreciate all forms of music. Most recently getting into Kpop, like yourself. Music truly is a journey. As someone who can appreciate all forms of music it's a shame those who can't. It's okay to not like other genres of music or certain artists but the way some people are so hateful in their comments is beyond me. Keep the videos coming. One of my favourite channels.

Joe’s great. I’ve seen him many times. My favorite was at the Beacon Theater around 2017. I played blues and blues rock most my life. The best advice for playing blues that really was a game changer for me came from a friend’s Dad who was a studio session player. I asked how to play blues emotionally. He said simply, “focus on what you do in the spaces between the 🎉notes, not the notes themselves.” That lesson is easy to understand listening to Bonamassa, and pretty much every great blues player, play on this song. It’s not how many notes you play or how fast you can play them, it becomes how few notes can I play to tell the story I want to tell. Do this and in short time you will notice that your solos begin to say things that have a kind of meaning as opposed to sounding like just a bunch of notes. Here are some brilliant examples to familiarize yourself with, The Allman Brothers, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Cream, the 3 Kings (BB King, Albert King, Freddie King). Then learn to mix major and minor pentatonic scales and play over the changes with some arpeggios thrown in too. Now, do the same thing at a fast tempo weighted more in the major instead of the minor scale and you be rockin now. :)

And this video shows off Joe's talents as a guitar player no matter what his influences might have been when he was a young kid ( 10 or 12 years old and deciding that he wanted to become a guitar player) and probably only just beginning to have a clue what genre of music he wanted to play ,and we are all very lucky that he started his education into old school blues as young as he must have been ,and that he came to love old school blues cause unfortunately some of the British invasion guitarists who learned to love old school American blues after hearing recordings or going to concerts featuring BB King , Muddy Waters , Buddy Guy, and others in England or other British isles countries , they listened to and loved what they heard and learned to play old school blues and when the late 60s and early 70s came around old school blues influences were already heard not only inthe hits of British invasion bands , but also I the uniquely American rockin blues coming out of the Southern Texas bands and other Southern bands in the southeastern US plus the heavy metal bands of both the US and British invasion like AC/DC , Kiss , Metallica , and others all of whom tried to put out songs that would appeal to the worldwide hippie movement and as that cultural phenomenon aged into the psychedelic generation the heavy metal element morphed into a combination of metal and psychedelic influenced bands and solo artists like Led Zeppelin , Pink Floyd, Jimmy Hendrix , and , and others, on both sides of the Atlantic, like Iron Butterfly ,and then Southern Rock exploded on to the music scene and all of the Rock sub genres ,battled each other for supremacy of Rock music and all of those sub genre's influences can still be heard to one 1⃣ degree or another in a lot of today's Rock music and you can't discount the influences of different Country Rock bands, Like the Marshall Tucker band, Charlie Daniels band ,Allman brothers band , and solo artists like Hank Williams Jr , Merle Haggard , Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, and others crossing over into other genres of music from Country music have all become big stars ⭐ in the music industry and a lot of the cross over stars have been big time songwriters too no matter what genre they came from, or "went" to which has helped develop the diversity of today's music industry which has helped the recording industry and helped grow the radio industry especially in the larger "market" areas for all of the various genres of music , each industry feeding into and off of the others, and that's what led to all the " oldies" , "classics " , and genre and Era specific , stations on both A M , and F M frequencies to the point the only control seems to be just how powerful of a signal aparticular station might produce which while supposedly controlled by whichever government agency is in control of such things, is why , that from the late 50s on for a decade or two some stations were set up in Mexico just across the border from Texas , New Mexico , and Arizona , cause they weren't being controlled by any government agency like they were here in the US, but the "X" stations have pretty much disappeared since controls were finally put in place by the Mexican government at the very strong urging and co-operation of the US government 😊 so that these days about the only "pirate " stations to be found are on short wave frequencies ( like those used by " ham" radio operators and " C-B radios that truckers use , and sometimes police agencies use those frequencies too as well as other first responders ( mostly fire departments and ambulance agencies ) that all fall into the first responders categories 😊😅😮😢😂❤😂😊❤😊❤

Lee. That was a cover of the late great Gary Moore. Joe did it as tribute but it’s become a signature tune. Talking of Gary Moore the messiah came. One of the most beautiful guitar solos of all time lasting about 9 minutes. Extraordinary.

Pink Floyd was named after 2 bluesmen. Almost all the rock from that era was heavy blues inspired

Love your reaction Lee. I grew up listening to Pink Floyd and I can see why you say what you do. Joe does hit Lics that sounds much like David Gilmore. Joe Bonamassa has to be one of the best guitarists of our time. Thanks so much for your comments.

For something I guarantee you've not seen before, check out Joe with Tina Guo playing "Woke Up Dreaming" from "Live at Carnegie Hall, An Acoustic Evening". Duet with Tina playing cello.
