    Real guitar playing. No showboating, tapping, or trickery. They feel the notes, they do not play them. Speed for the sake of speed has no feeling. Both of these gentlemen have known this for decades. The breaks in-between notes are just as important as the notes themselves. Grear Jam!

    • @jdw9397
      @jdw9397 Год назад +3

      Yes-but if you want to watch a little show boating by Joe checkout his videoWoke Up Dreaming with Tina Guo. It’s a battle with Tina playing cello and Joe playing acoustic guitar-jaw dropping performances by both

      Totally agree. Same can be said for Joe Walsh. He plays a note and doesn't go to the next note until he has finished PLAYING the note.

    • @crusheverything4449
      @crusheverything4449 3 дня назад

      Some guitarists play fast without feeling, but the great ones know that speed is just another flavor and, when used in the proper amount and at the right time, it can be super-exciting. It’s a mistake to dismiss all fast playing offhand. Both of these guys have their share of fast playing in their solos, but it’s done with taste and that’s the real difference. ✌🏼

    I grew up listening to Rock/Rock n Roll in the 60's. Love the work that Warren Hayes does, but first Stevie Ray and the Joe Bona massa have turned me into a blues fanatic. At 74 I still must get my daily fix of the blues. You want to have some fun, sit down for an hour or two and watch Joe Bona massa Live at the Greek Theater. It is a tribute to the 3 Kings (Freddie, Albert, and of course BB King, who Joe appeared with when he was only about 12.) You will have trouble getting the grin off your face. Love that you are becoming an avid blues fan. It stirs your soul.

    OMG - I have listened to the Bob Seger version of this (from Live Bullet) for decades. This takes it to another level. The guitar opening sounds like the guitars are greeting each other Then Warren starts singing and the goosebumps rise. And Joe enters, says hold my beer and it's on.. Sooo much talent.

    I"m an old f$rt, 73 y/o big Joe Bonamassa fan, but really like this back and forth with Warren, a great blues man himself. I'm enjoying your reaction videos and witnessing you discovering what's old is new again. This song, I believe was made popular by Albert King. You should check out the entire Joe Bonamassa - Live at the Greek Theater concert video. All the songs play homage to three blues greats - Albert King, Freddie King and the great BB King. Some of my favorites off that concert video are this one, Breaking up Someone's Home, Going Down and Cadillac Assembly Line. Check it out - you won't be disappointed.

    Mule is a deep, deep DEEP rabbit hole to fall down. They have a bunch of studio albums, and a ton of live albums out. They also do a mind boggling array of covers, live- and do real justice to them. They're also famous for inviting all sorts of folks onstage to jam with them. Live is where they really shine.

Joe just produced Warren's new album on Joe's label KTBA. One can only say these guys that revel in each other's abilities in blues is so much respect for the other player. To try and out do each other but so respectful of each other. It is conversation no doubt!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥
    Oh and Joe uses a little pick like Eric Johnson does. Joe was taught to hold the pick against the inside of his index finger so he can fingerpick and use the pick seamlessly and both simultaneously.

    Joe Bonamassa has been playing professionally since he was 8 years old and opened for BB King. Yup, he's that good. How did he get this good? He has 2 musicians for parents and has been practicing 10 hours a day since he was a little kid. 10 HOURS a day, EVERY day. He still does.
    He says his ambition was to be the "Swiss Army Knife of guitar. You want blues, I can do that. You want rock, I can do that. You want classical, I can do that. You want country, I can do that. What do you want? I can do that."
    10 hours a day. Every day. He still does it. Unbelievable.

      He's incredible. I do think, if you could possibly find fault, that his guitar lacks the emotion Warren's does and feels robotic. Almost like he's a cheat code that got so good he missed the human element of playing that Warren's soul devours. It's the reasaon that I don't listen to Bonamassa records on repeat like I do guys like Warren and Trucks.

    • @alfredhernandez9799
      @alfredhernandez9799 7 месяцев назад

      I agree. I love his stuff but don't find that emotional edge to it. Maybe because he practiced soooooo much he lost the emotional connection to the instrument. Stevie Ray Vaughan used to sleep with his guitar as a kid and you can really tell that he was connected in a way that 99.99999% of guitarists will never be.@@maxverstappen2713

    As good as Bonamassa is, Haynes is a wizard.

    Warren Haynes is a brilliant slide player. Him and his old ABB bandmate Derek Trucks are among the best to ever do it.

    Two of the best. If you want to know Joe, then listen to "The Dust Bowl" or "The Ballad of John Henry ".

    I love and enjoy music of all kinds. Music is a very important part of my life and Blues is hands down my favorite genre. If your interested into delving into the Blues may I suggest you include Buddy Guy. He's the last living of the old Bluesmen and at 86 he still tours. Damn Right I Got The Blues & Feels Like Rain would be 2 good ones to start with.

    Sebs, I was there! Played in the competition, but didn't get very far. This was a great guitar conversation between the two. Joe B. is definitely someone you want to see live. Take a look at he and Eric Gales together! My competition video on youtube is called Gerry Hill 2011. Sure had fun!
