    Special Thanks to my good friend Greg Mead aka Tall Greg aka @themakerlife on Instagram. He is always here to lend a hand when I need it. If you haven't seen his work on Instagram, do yourself a favor and check it out.
    We made this modification to my Langmuir Pro this week to prevent potential EMI issues caused by an SMT inductor that is ironically intended to act as a trap for EMI emitted from the Crossfire Pro Board. By removing it and putting in place a solder bridge between the two contact points EMI interference from outside has been eliminated in tests and several owners who have taken the time to make this modification. It took us about 45 minutes to pull it apart make the change and put it all back together. That included filming and moving cameras etc. So I'm guessing someone skilled could do it in under 30 minutes and someone with no experience could fumble through in about an hour.
    This fix is specifically for Batch 1 and 2 owners. This modification will be in place with all future orders and will not be required. The new boards will have a Zero Ohm resistor in place of the inductor. The inductor is a little rectangle while resistors are cylindrical. There is no need to do anything if you see the resistor in L1.
    It's important to mention, this is not a Langmuir issue. Many Plasma CNC Tables battle EMI issues I found out as I was researching this issue. Grounding bus bars, grounding rods, and many other additional features have been added and sold aftermarket to deal with this issue.

    I don’t own a plasma cutter, but I really enjoy seeing problems solved. Very informative video. Nice work guys!

      Thanks Bernie. It was an easy fix. One that I personally probably didn’t need to do, but there were a few people reticent to dive in without seeing it done, so I volunteered.

    Great video and a clean fix. A minor inconvenience for having so much power at the drop of a key stroke. Had my table running last night spitting out parts that would have taken me hours in the past. So stoked to have the Langmuir table in the shop. 🔥👍🏼🔥

      House of Chop it’s simply amazing. I’ve made so many cool things and things I used to pay for an entire 4x8 to be made 180 pieces at a time I can make in minutes at home 10 at a time. No more stocking inventory. I really can’t express how much I love having this in my shop.

    I use nut holders. Screwdriver locking devices with spring grips at the end for the nut. It makes holding nuts where they’re too deep to hold by hand, easy. You just spin the nuts on, and then pull it off. If there is a toothed washer under the nut, tightening from the screw head is then easy. It also works when removing the nuts. It’s better than a magnet because many electronic screws and nuts are actually chrome plated brass.

    So I assume all the new machines Langmuir is now shipping have a revised circuit board? The Pro seems to be selling well, back orders are out to September now.

    • @ManCrafting
      @ManCrafting  4 года назад +1

      According to their post on the forum, if you don’t have yours yet the new boards will be built with the zero ohm capacitor instead of the inductor. So you’ll be good.

    Wow. I can hardly believe they just used an Arduino for the control board. Coulda probably made it a bit more up-to-date and feature rich/robust for the same money.

      @@ManCrafting Yeah, no doubt. I'm sure the PC does the heavy lifting anyway. I just ordered a Crossfire Pro last week, so I still have confidence in it. Something just struck me when I recognized that Arduino board, no biggie.

    Have yall had any problems?
    I'm very interested in the Langmuir plasma table, I recently joined their Facebook group and it seems like a lot of people are having problems with the torch height control. I know these machines are "budget friendly" but they are still very expensive.

    • @ManCrafting
      @ManCrafting  3 года назад +1

      No matter what product you get you rarely hear from those of us never having problems and running our tables enough to notice. I don’t comment much on that page but I have. The great thing is when people have legitimate issues the people at Langmuir figure it out. Every time I turn mine on, I’m thankful I found out about this company. I’d probably still not own a table. I don’t have a product, and I don’t promote it as a service and I still make more with it every few months than I paid for it. Make sure you get a good plasma cutter. I have HTP and there are some other that people like.

    • @LanceSheppard
      @LanceSheppard 3 года назад +1

      @@ManCrafting thank you for your response. What is your thoughts on the plasma cutter that Langmuir supplies? I would love to get a hypertherm, I've not seen many HTP cutters. As a stay at home dad of 3 kids, one with special needs I really want to start a small business from my garage and this really fits my interests.
      Thanks!

      @@LanceSheppard I hear you. I try to avoid saying anything about companies, but my first plasma cutter wasn’t as good as my HTP. It was a huge jump up. Like you I wasn’t in the market for a Hypertherm. The HTP was what a buddy had and he makes a full time living with his. He has a 5x12 table. Runs it 10 hours a day for days at times.

    My Crossfire Pro loses connectivity to my computer at random times during cuts. There’s no rhyme or reason to when or why, it’s hard to replicate. Do you think this could be the reason?

    • @ManCrafting
      @ManCrafting  3 года назад

      I would contact Langmuir and see if yours was made before or after the discovery of this issue.

  • @messybench

    2 questions, would solder paste work for this? And would this alow a hi frequency start plasma cutter?

    • @ManCrafting
      @ManCrafting  3 года назад

      I would stick with solder, but if you haven’t purchased one yet this won’t be an issue. I would avoid HF plasma cutters if you don’t currently own one. There is a list of tested plasma cutters on the Langmuir site. There may be others that work as well, but avoid HF.

      @@ManCrafting It is an Arduino Nano.
      It has the ISP connector there for programing it ( because they removed the micro USB from the board), the reset button, the LEDs... Probably they used a custom GRBL firmware to ocntrol that machine.
