The fact that the Locust were entirely the COG'S fault has always kind of made the games bitter sweet for me. Like they aren't the good guys... it's their fault that humanity is almost extinct. But they're the only ones left who can fight back against an overwhelming enemy force.
there no good or evil but the way u look at it, they had the best intentions for the workers but one or two scienctists f#cked it up for every one. they didnt necessarily need the super soldiers program. adam fenix thought he had the best intentions but that didnt end too well. the COG would seem evil at the time but it was the leaders like prescott that made it seem evil.
While I'd argue the COG aren't as bad as the Locust, I just love how morally dubious they turn out to be when you *really* read between the lines. Makes what is already a dark universe seem ever deeper in its grimness when the only good guys left to save humanity ARE in fact the bad guys. Great video.

The first gears of war game I really played was gears 3; I was visiting my childhood friend in SoFlo, we took 3 hits of acid each before starting the campaign. I started getting wicked Darwinist vs. Clanker vibes by like the 3rd level, also got mad the C.O.G. are fascists vibes. Beat the whole story on insane difficulty in 7 hours. I Fell in love with the franchise after that....

she would have never done it, her plan was to stay hidden and live a peacful and eternal life underground (since she's immortal) with all her peoples, they only ever went to the surface because they where absolutly submerged by lambents, making the inner hollows an 24/7 war, and even they they faught till last minutes. their pre emergence high general (uzil sraak) wanted to keep fighting for the hollows no matter how many died, (kinda exactly like that general in "antz") only Vold Raam knew the hollows where lost and their only hope was the surface, which lead to a whole story on how he became high general and convinced the queen and everyone that they should attack the surface
The locust were made for the pendulum wars at new hope and especially the lab in gears 5 and revolted and scattered in to the hollows having refused to be subhuman cannon fodder for the cog

It was always inevitable in my opinion too. Myrah already had plenty of reasons to despise humanity, and it was inevitable that regardless of the Lambent pandemic, at some point in time humans would encounter the Locust anyway. Especially since we were encroaching on the Hollow in search of imulsion.

It was only inevitable that at some point another retaliation would arise and cause more war even without the Locust.

Some correction: the Maelstrom Generator was based on Adam's design but it was already built and active by the time Adam was sequestered to Azura. Prescott didn't know about the Queen until Adam told his assistant which he passed to Prescott. And that was, like, 5 years into the war. As far as I know, Adam was never told the Locust origins. After keeping secret that he knew about them for years, they were never gonna tell more than what was needed.
It's ironic how the game with chainsaw bayonett has such a poignant "war is foolish" message below the action movie surface. At the end of part 3, marcus is just so done and tired with this shit.

If Adam had told COG leaders about the Locust, one of two things would’ve happened: he’d either be blackmailed into acting as a radio double agent to find and kill Queen Myrrah, so the COG could bring the Locust under their control (or wipe them out)... Or the COG would’ve made Adam silent, because the Locust couldn’t *possibly* be a real threat to the mighty COG. If blackmail and threats didn’t work, and Adam tried to go public with the information, he’d either become a public laughingstock in the face of a disinformation campaign... Or he’d mysteriously commit suicide with two bullets in the back of his skull, or mysteriously fall out a window without leaving a note, just like dozens of journalists and whistleblowers in recent Earth history. Or someone would just poison him, or slit his throat, like in the good ol’ days. It was damn solid writing that left Adam so indecisive and morally confused. His thirst for redemption, after being involved in the biggest WMD project of his planet’s history, ultimately led to him preventing a small genocide and enabling a larger one. Which makes his death and redemption in Gears 3 hit all the harder.
I wish that Marcus, delta squad, Rayna, diaz, other rebelled gears, myrrah, and the locust horde will join forces and destroy the cog and create a new government where locust and mankind will bond with each other
