- My visit to the historic town of Arrow Rock Missouri. Hope you enjoy!
The Arrow Rock historic sign (shown at 1:03 in the video) reads as follows below:
"Arrow Rock"
"At the Arrow Rock State Park entrance stands this pioneer town as a memorial to the Boon's Lick Country and the expanding frontier. In the 24-acre park are Arrow Rock Tavern, built by Joseph Huston, ca. 1834, for travelers on the Sante Fe Trail, restored and operated as a museum and inn by the state society of D.A.R and the state of Missouri; Arrow Rock Academy museum, a former girls' school, chartered 1843: "a one-man jail"; the state-restored George C. Bingham House; and other sites.
Southwest of town are Sappington and Arrow Rock cemeteries; Sappington and Marmaduke houses; Nathaniel B. Tucker home, "Ardmore"; site of Thomas A. Smith's prarie farm, "experiment". Some 12 miles southeast is grave of fur trader William H. Ashley, Missouri's first lieutenant governor. Across the river is Boon's Lick, where Daniel Boone's sons boiled salt probably as early as 1807.
Near town lived Doctor John Sappington, noted for his "Anti-Fever (quinine) Pills," author first medical book west of Mississippi, founder of Sappington School Fund; and Governors M.M. and John S. Marmaduke and C.F. Jackson."

Love Arrow Rock... It's amazing how much I appreciate and miss it now that I'm not a kid. We used to go every year for the Easter Egg hunt, and multiple multiple other times. Would visit it again in a heartbeat.
Arrow Rock is a great town I’ve been wanting to go back myself to try J Huston Tavern. I’ve heard they have really good fried chicken. Thanks for watching!
beautiful buildings!
Thanks Lola K!
incredible historic town! awesome vlog dear friend
Thank you for watching!
Thanks for sharing. We're in the bootheel of our state.
Thank you! Did a trip near the bootheel a few years ago but the closest I got was New Madrid. Would love to go back one day and film some of the other towns Kennett, Hayti, ect.
Peaceful looking place! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you very much! Hope you both had a great Thanksgiving
You sure do a great job making your history of your area. What a nice place. I liked the song too. Happy morning my friend.
Thank you Brenda that really made my day. Have a great weekend!
NaturesFairy Hey Brenda this is the same town where I filmed my recent videos. I believe most of the buildings in Arrow Rock are on the National Register of Historic Places. It’s also where I came to view the total eclipse in 2017. I’ve been doing so many videos over in Kansas lately that it’s nice to finally be doing some videos in my home state again lol. Have a great weekend :)
Another good share, you have uploaded some good videos recently, thanks my friend... Carl
Thank you Carl! I've been making a list lately and realized I've visited over 50 Missouri towns. Never thought I'd visit that many haha. Have a great weekend!
Excellent video of the historic town - great share :-)
Ever interesting.
Thumbs up and kind regards
Thanks Mike! I really enjoyed my adventure to Arrow Rock. Have a great weekend!
your tour videos are so good, I thinking of visiting that area someday, best regards
Thank you very much man and you definitely should visit some day!
Definitely worth it, plus it's free to anyways! Lol. Would definitely recommend it, especially if you can time it to go during one of their events/festivals.
great ! thumbs up
Thank you!
I’m going to arrow rock for a field trip next week because it’s only 35 minutes away and it’s related to our social studies and I’m super excited hope it’ll be fun
Arrow Rock is a great town with lots of history. Have fun on your trip!
Ah, so it is a kind of museum, an old city, an interesting story behind it. It is very nice to look at, a really nice place, thank you for showing. Greetings from Germany, Angela :))
Thanks Angela! Yes kind of like an outdoor museum lol. I think it's interesting how the whole town is historical. Have a great weekend!
another really nice video spencer, another like from me. 👍
Thanks Steve! Arrow Rock is a nice town to visit and I enjoyed seeing all the historic sites. Have a great day!
Great video....I love some of these names like Arrow Rock and Hannibal.....The story about the single prisoner made me laugh out loud....Freda
Thanks Freda! Haha I wonder what the prisoner did that they would let him out so easily. It must not have been too big of a crime. One thing I think is funny about town names in Missouri is that many names are copied off of other places. Miami, Cleveland, California, Nevada, and Oregon are all towns in Missouri for example. Thanks again for watching you and Lynt have a great day!
It seems a very quiet place to live! Did you see anyone while filming? Thank you for sharing,
Thanks Julie! I did notice a few people while I was there. Many were visiting the shops and the gun museum they have there. Have a great weekend!
Looks like such a quaint place :)
Thanks Kate it was really nice :)
Go there for the food, J Huston is awesome.
Yeah I’d like to try that place. I’ve seen some pictures online and it looks really good! Thanks for watching :)
Oh I just saw a brick house/building - I was just reading about our first American settlers - apparently in the 1600s sometime the Danish came over and they were brick builders and all around the north eastern coast were small brick houses - then England stepped in and took over their community and tore the majority of brick homes down.. so sad! lol I love all these homes and buildings -especially the brick ones - how old was the oldest - did they say? very cool cool place - great video! :)
oh and they had a whole bunch of windmills too that England tore out! sigh - loved those old law books that was so cool!
That's too bad about those buildings you mentioned. They sound like they were really interesting! Wonder how they would look if they were still around today. Arrow Rock is awesome I'm not sure if I had ever been to a town that was completely historical before lol. Thanks for watching and have a great weekend!
:)
Beautiful little town, wish I was there and try out the restaurant. :)) Says in the description, they boiled salt, wonder what kind of drink that makes. Great video as always.
lol thanks Martin! I wish I would have tried that restaurant the pictures of it online look really good. Have a great Saturday!
Thank you! :)) Have a nice Saturday too. :))
