Hello! So today I had an interview and earlier during the day I saw some of your videos including this one... I got the interview thanks to knowing someone who works there... the position I was applying for was not available but would be in a couple of months but they were in need of someone for another position. ( I knew this before had) anyway had the interview and all, and was told they would contact me at the ende of the month. Left the location and felt the interview went ok but not amazing. I didn’t feel like I left that amazing wow factor in it. By the way the position I was looking for is as a server at a fine dining restaurant. It’s the most exclusive restaurant in my area. The open position was being a busser. About 30 minutes later I was back at the location again and ask to speak to the interviewing manager again. When she got there I said “hi Michelle (fake name) you will have to excuse me for coming back, but I didn’t quite felt satisfied with my performance in that interview. And I want you to know that I’m very interested in working here, i know you have amazing employees and a great team working here but I also do know I will be of great contribution to this team and company. She answered great thing you came back, I was actually really considering you and telling the owner about our interaction and asking his opinion. Matter of fact follow me me let’s talk to him. Which we did, basically did another Inter with them both got hired and will be starting next week. So thank you for your advice, I might have applied it a little different but it got me from a maybe and having to wait 3 weeks for an answer to a definite yes and start now.

I'm interviewing today, and I came here for some last minutes tips, an he made me remember when I was 23, I interviewed for my corporate job; I was so desperate to get into corporate America that I told the hiring manager, “hire me” lol. I laugh now because he did. He told me later that everyone was more qualified than me, but because I said “hire me,” he did, and he took a chance on me, an I didn't disappoint. Everyone has a blessed day, and I hope we get the jobs we seek.

  • @VenraeLOL

I came back to this video just to highly recommend this. Here's my experience with this:
At the end of my interview, I expressed that I wanted the job and the opportunity to be apart of the company - which was 100% honest. A few days later, they called me to say that that they were concerned with my ability to do the job right out the gates, but they loved my enthusiasm and wanted to give me the chance to prove myself. So instead of starting me out in the position I applied for, they offered to set me up in the position below it but with accelerated training - this to give me a safety net while I learn the ins and outs of the company and the industry.
I wholeheartedly believe by telling them, in no uncertain terms, that I was excited and wanted the job, that gave me this opportunity - which I have taken, and plan to run with.

This worked for me twice in my career. In both cases i had no real experience beside decent qualification. The "problem" if i may say, is that you just have to be genuine about it. It's not really how you formulate it, but how you convey it. It's really how you put it, it's about the passion first and the qualification next.

Also I was just asked this question. Funny as I was walking the dog I was thinking, no one really asks that question anymore (why should hire you). This hiring manager at the end, really asked me "knowing what you know, why should I hire you?" I flat out said (in relation to your other vids too) "first of all I meet all your qualifications" (and I listed the top 5). I also said (in relation to this video) it isn't that I want any old job -- it is that this particular job jazzes me up and I again retiterated the requirements. She flat out said well ok let me get you on the calendar for the second interview. #boss #companiesexpert

The interviewer is lame. When people apply it's a two way street, we apply to explore to see if it is mutually a good fir -or not-. After having had the exchange, establishing context, assessing the opportunity in person to person, then one can express a want or not. Many after an interview could tell the interviewer the opposite.

I used this method. I said at the end of interview I would really like this job and with my manufacturing experience and the training the company will provide. I should be able to perform the skills without a problem. They gave me a tour. Showed me what I be learning. Asked what I do on my own time. Ask them back that question. It goes a long way. They really seemed to bring up education and advancement a lotFollowed up with a thank you letter. Was offered the job day after interview when they said they would get back to me in a week.

I did this on my first job interview back in 2011 after I finished college. It was during the last stage of interviews (for a brand managment job at a big local wholesale company that started developing its own brands) when there was only me and one older guy left (he had huge experience in the industry). I didn't know the importance of being passionate to compensate inexperience, I did it because I really wanted to work there. The older guy got the job of course but the CEO wanted to somehow employ me so he told me I'm the first when a similar job is available. A week later his HR employee calls and offers me a job in their "daughter"-company (marketing agency, media planning and buying). I accepted because I was told it's a station to get to the job I wanted. But they payed me miserably for a whole year so I quitted that job and accepted a job offer from their competitor. Great salary for then-26 year old guy. The first company offered me jobs two times in the coming years but I was very disappointed how they were paying a worker they actually liked.

Long story short ..he got it and he loves what he does and company loves him there .

To the man who would become my boss, I said “I like it here, I would like to start right away”, kind of off-hand. One never knows the importance of such a remark that came up spontaneously, but I saw that he liked it, like some old friend’s remark, and I got the job.

Least impressive job interview I've had. It was the second interview. I was at a hotel. I turned up, expecting to be invited to a suite or meeting room. I also expected to be met by someone from the firm. But no. I languished in the lobby for about 30 minutes before the hotel security guy asked if was X to meet Y. I was then taken to the corner of the lobby they were in. They then led me around the lobby seeking a place we could talk. Eventually we found a relatively quiet spot, but still not private, other people were near by, and the job interview was conducted. I got the job, but was so under-impressed that I lost interest in really being there and left a few months later.

Ok, so I have been working for 16 years in consulting, tech, developer, and management. This video is great because as I have interviewed many people in my life for roles... No one has ever said this and if they did it would put a huge impact into my decision because even if they are not as qualified as others in this role.... They want to come in and get the job done and go the extra mile and contribute to the team and the company. These videos are great!

I've always gotten a role based on my passion, and, I let the people on the other side of the table know it. Lately, I've been thinking of going back to a former role even when I did not leave on the best of terms... yet, I know my integrity and verve for what I do is well-known, and if I was going for it, I will get it. Great advice.

It's funny to hear this. At my current job I did this, it was true. I wanted the job, I was exited about it. I said it honestly. Apply to companies and jobs that you like. On the interview, listen to your instint.

Very helpful! I’m trying to get a job with Lockheed Martin. My issue is I absolutely love Lockheed Martin’s Aircraft the SR-71,L1011 etc. I honestly believe they make the best aircraft. I want to show interest in working for the company without sounding fan-boyish.

    • @TheCompaniesExpert
      @TheCompaniesExpert  3 года назад +3

The SR-71 is pretty cool. In addition to working on answering recruiter questions, make sure you are working the hidden job market to get to Lockheed Martin. Check out my playlist here to get started: ruclips.net/p/PLO4kDC0EWkeDaZyMJgm9W43J2Oy0VefRV

Thank you for an inspiring series of videos. I like the idea of telling a potential employer that you are passionate about it and thatyou really want the job. However, only do that if it’s true. I have met with so many candidates who oversell themselves and the end result is always dissatisfying for everyone involved. If you tell them that you are passionate, expect a follow-up question: Why are you passionate? Then you better have a good answer! :-)
