    SUMMARY
    --------------------
Been invited back for a second job interview and want to make sure to ace it?
The second interview is about building deeper connections…
The second job interview is about building a deeper connection, a deeper relationship, and more chemistry with the entire company.
It is about getting them to imagine you as part of the team. You want them to feel as though you're part of the team.
Sometimes when you're invited back, you are speaking with the same people you spoke with the first time, sometimes they're new people, and sometimes it’s a mixture.
Use these tactics across the board and adjust appropriately based on who you’re speaking with…
    1. Ask Again.
The first technique I would use is when you are speaking with somebody you have previously spoken with (whether on the phone or in an interview).
Ask about something you’ve already spoken about. I call this the "ask again" technique.
Say, "Last time I was here you mentioned [insert whatever here]. It really stuck with me. I thought more about it and I wanted to get more insight into that as it relates to [insert whatever here.] Could you elaborate…”
    2. Ask More.
The second tactic is to ask additional (new) questions. If you are speaking with somebody who you've previously spoken with previously, you want to make sure you're asking him or her a new batch of questions.
    3. Be Inclusive.
The third tip is to be inclusive of other people. By that I mean, reference conversations you've had with others in the organization. [You can even use this in the first round of interviews.]
Whether you're speaking with somebody you previously spoken with or you're speaking with new people, one the best tactics you can use is to refer to what you and someone spoke about and then ask for their opinion.

Just had my second interview and it felt more difficult than the first one! First one focused more on my skills and work experience, while the second interview was with the director, who focused more on behavioural and situational questions. Questions about how I handle stress, how I handle difficult situations with colleagues, etc. I felt interviewed about my compatibility and likeability mostly. I guess my question is how do you reply to questions that project you in the future or situations you may experience when you have no idea how the company truly operates internally, and the team's dynamic? How do you master WHAT IF questions?

The final interview was great! After the interview, I went to my car and prepared a hand written note with a fancy, old timey, wax seal. I went back upstairs and gave one to the interviewer and one to the recruiter. I got a phone call later that day from the recruiter. She told me that the both of them were impressed by the detail of the note! She also said that everyone would be sitting down to compare candidates & that I should hear back by next week. This is the furthest I’ve ever gotten in any interview process. I feel really good about!

    Hi Andrew,
First of all thank you for the great content and the advice you give. I find the information you provide really helpful.
Just recently I was talking to a friend and he wanted to pay someone 200 Euro, to help him with his CV and LinkedIn profile.
I suggested to him to look you up first, as you have previously given me some great advise.
I have also revamped my CV and given it the LaCivita style "treatment" it looks much sharper and I have gotten some great feedback, so a massive thank you for that.
I was wondering about the "Thank You" card/email.
If you have an interview within the company you currently work for, should you send an email to the interviewer?
When you actually know from the get go that there most likely will be two interviews, when would you send the "Thank You" card/email?
Any tips would be much appreciated.

    • @andylacivita
      @andylacivita  7 лет назад

Hey Sascha, good to hear from you again! Love that my tips are helping you and your friends. On the thank you stuff, I would recommend checking out the two thank you videos I have on youtube. They'll be easy to find. I go over everything you need to know. On your specific question, yes, send an email to the interviewers within your company. Candidly, I'd drop off a card as well. What you write in the card can be based on the strength of your relationship, but check my videos for context. Send your emails within 24 hours of meeting with each interview. if you have an interview on wed, send by thursday at the same time or earlier. if the next one is monday, send by Tues and so on!

I have a quick question: I received a call today from a company that I interviewed with a couple weeks ago. They want me to come in for a second interview with the company owner. No offers at this point. Please respond with advice! Thank you!

    • @andylacivita
      @andylacivita  7 лет назад +5

Hey There! Any time you get into a situation like this, my answer will ALWAYS be to be honest. You will get much more mileage out of not only telling the truth, but telling it promptly. So, if you're asked, just say, "I'm actively interviewing and have been on [however many] interviews in the past few week. I don't have any offers yet. Here's where I am with each organization.... Then give them the details. For example, "I interviewed with this company for this position. They let me know my next round will likely be next week, etc." The important thing to note is that you want to be factual, simply as though you're giving them the information. They can decide what to do with it (slow things down, speed things up, match an offer, etc.). If you get an offer from one of the other companies, I'd let this newer company know. Also, keep in mind, if it has been a couple of weeks in between interviews (as it has with this company), there should pick up the pace if they want you or at least let you know why there are multiple week gaps between interviews. Companies that want you will move quickly or at least plant the next interview date as soon as they can. They should want you to know there is a next date to look forward to. If they don't do that, you can be assured they're less interested. My fingers are crossed for you that have these companies in a bidding war for you!!!

I have my 2nd interview next week (via webex), this time I'm going to meet with 2 guys that would be my future direct co-workers (IT position). Hey Andy! #BootCamper here. not sure if you will still respond to your older videos but I found this video very useful!
I have a final round interview on Wednesday afternoon, Singapore time with the CEO who I had a very brief 1st interview with and he is meeting with me again after I had interviews with his colleagues.
Other than going deeper into asking him questions from the last time, do you think it is worth my effort going deeper into giving him more insights into how I can contribute to his company having done more research and spoken with his colleagues?
Would love to hear your views on this!
    Thanks!

Have a second interview coming up and boy am I nervous! I was told I did good on the phone interview and that I answered enough of the technical questions right. Im not sure if I remember correctly, but I think I remember him saying there won't be other technical questions on this second interview. Would you happen to have any idea what the next set of questions might be? I'm going to study technical questions more just to be safe, but I'm not sure what else to prepare!

Hi Andy, just wanted to have your advise. I had an interview, a written test and then a second interview. After a week the HR officer asked fo three professional references and sent me two forms to sign. The first is a biodata form, where I put all details regarding academic and professional background as well as my annual salary. The second is an NDA ( non disclosure agreements) which was about which was a confedentiality agreement to protect the company's data to be signed by me and the COO. Does this mean I will get the job

Interviewing these days sucks. These companies HR departments are getting flakier and flakier and taking longer and longer to get back to people. Too many politics going on in the background...a lot of these big companies use "panel" interviews now where some of the hiring decisions aren't even being made by the hiring manager. The team lead and a few team members are helping make some of these decisions with often disastrous results.
