The song so is well composed, in all fronts, that if you replace too many phrases in the solo, for example, you will end up impoverishing it, irredeemably. At least Satch kept kirk's phrases! Humility pays! No "I'm the teacher" bs. Kirk is simple, but knows what sounds right! By the way, I know each and every album of both of these guys, besides the whole of Tallica, of course.

I like how Joe stayed faithful to Kirk's iconic solo. He could have easily shredded up on it and made it more technical but he realized it was perfect the way it was written. Cool how he and Steve then added an improv jam with some exotic shreddy licks after the main part of the song and original solo section was over.

It's hilarious how disappointing something like this is whenever it's, like, Clapton, Beck, Page, Harrison, Petty, whoever else on stage because they're just not good enough to jam together like this. Watching Satriani and Vai play off each other in a highly musical--not just technical way--is amazing. I really like seeing how they respond to each other and think on their feet. My favorite is that moment at around 6:00 when Joe plays a rhythmic, exotic sheets of sound thing and Vai comes back with this demented white-hot liquid snake of a run that makes Satriani laugh. And then 6:30 what Satch plays followed by Vai is amazing
