Hi. I am inspired to organise my crafting supplies. Thx.
I store my yarn in giant bins in my second bedroom's closet. Sock yarn has a special Ikea basket to live in, also in that bedroom. Yarn in 2nd bedroom, weaving, embroidery, fluff for spinning everywhere else.

I have lots of sock yarn! I store them in 4 antique dressers and an antique cabinet with glass front. The only separation is self striping hand dyed yarn, speckled hand dyed yarn, and commercial yarn/ opal yarn. I knit socks and mitered square blankets. I really enjoy your podcasts!

I weirdly enjoy watching yarn sorting/wip sorting/frog or finish type podcasts! They tend to inspire me. My yarn is stored literally in every corner of our bedroom in clear storage boxes mostly. In theory it should all be easy to view but always tends to get in a mess! Xx

Hi, I have a craft room and shelving that I keep my yarn, books, patterns, swift etc. on. I do keep my yarn in large clear bags (8 skeins ) so moths, dog hair etc. doesn’t get near it. It truly brings me joy to look at daily. My craft room is definitely my happy place. ❤

My son and I enjoyed watching you sort and re-store your yarn.
I have some of my (too large) stash stored in cubes in my craft room, with labels for type, all in ziplock bags. The rest is stored in weathertight totes (those with gaskets) in the basement, also sorted by weight and then amount (single skeins, pairs, shawl quantities, sweater quantities, and a lot with patterns), also in ziplock bags. The spinning fiber and hand spin is also stored in the same ways.

My yarn is stored in many cabinets in my craft room. Yarn for specific projects are in separate bags, and then the rest of it is sorted by yarn weight. I also have quilting related supplies,so I’m really enjoying watching your organize to give me some ideas.

I have a wall of pull-out boxes. Mostly organised by project (of which there are over 60!), and then some extra boxes organised by weight of yarn. Of yes, and a handspun box or two. Love it all.

My yarn is mostly in a giant 5x5 IKEA cube system full of bins. I sort by weight and/or by fiber if I have an abundance of one type (such as wool, cotton, synthetics, etc). I have all sock yarn kept together because socks are an all the time thing, probably 2 full bins of full sock yarn skeins and a bin of the ends-bits. One cube is dedicated to sweater quantities and one or two cubes are for yarns I have set aside for specific “one-day-when-I-wanna” projects kept with the intended pattern. And to be honest, there are additional places around the house that somehow have yarn stashed there as well. (I may need a 12 step program…LOL) A friend recently told me that knitting is one craft/hobby and buying yarn is an entirely different hobby. Thank you for inspiring me to go through my stash and get a fresh look. Long time follower from the very first video and have enjoyed all of them. XOXO

Half of my bedroom is my “studio” and there are wood shelves. My yarn is in bins on those shelves. The bins are clear so I still get to see the yarn. Go in and play with it/ err I mean sort the yarn 😅 once in a while to arrange the colors for mood and season. Loved seeing your yarn, thank you.😊

I just organized my yarn stash which is in a cupboard in my family room. I store WIPS in project bags and the rest in plastic containers. If I find that some has been sitting around for too long I donate it. I told my best friend and fellow knitter that if I drop dead she needs to come over and steal it all🤣. Love your podcasts! I like this kind of videos! Now I want to go and play with my stash :) I have a Kallax unit from IKEA (4x4) in my living room that was originally mostly yarn, and in the past couple of years changed to mostly fabric as I started sewing as well… Now my most precious yarn is stored in two of the spaces, one for hand dyed, one for advents and minis, and then I have another for leftovers or partially used yarns (all with doors). Then, my cotton/crochet yarn is in another of the spaces (drawer), and any acrylic/for crochet is in boxes in the garage. I like how “crochet” yarn is separate and usually just cotton or acrylic, crochet is faster but knitting gets most of my handdyed yarn for sure ❤

I love this topic! I have hit yarn organization nirvana with my current setup. I’m using an antique secretary desk. In the cupboards under the desk I have my yarn organized by weight in boxes. Inside the boxes they are separated in plastic/ zip lock bags I’m forever reusing. On the little shelves inside the desk are my upcoming projects in project bags. There’s a shallow drawer at the top that houses all the notions and needles. A basket on top for all the sock yarn (separated by quantity with more plastic bags). Everything is easy to find and protected (I also have lavender bags everywhere), but it is all camouflaged to the uninitiated 😂 Fiber is stored in a basket somewhere else, and scrap yarn in a blanket basket next to where I sit to knit.

I don't have a ton of yarn, but I store my nicest hand dyed skeins in a woven wool basket in the living room, and then I keep most of my non-hand dyed sock yarn and if I have a sweater quantity lying around in this leather briefcase thingy I got from my grandma's house that's also on display in my living room. The rest (mostly leftovers and some random bits and bobs) is just in a box in the office, in a Kallax 😅

Fab video, thanks Mina! I love seeing how people organise their yarn! I'd love a yarn room and a dedicated wall of kallax units for all of the beautiful squish, however space constraints!! One day I'll have a spare room to dedicate to my crafts! I store mine in a double wardrobe floor to ceiling (ikea pax) i opted for half drawers at the bottom (contains most of my fabric but not all) and half shelves and the white canvas bag / boxes that fit on the shelves (I thought this would be enough). My overspill yarn stash is in plastic boxes next to the wardrobe piled up currently! I have it subdivided into yarn for socks, accessories, garments / shawls, undecided etc. I also have a monthly yarn club for disney, and have also picked up odd skeins or had disney clubs from other dyers who only ran for a year - all of my disney yarns are together in plastic boxes. I have a lot of sock yarn stash so i have several boxes for sock yarn. I'm in the process of trying to add it all to ravelry at the moment, so i also have 2 random cardboard boxes of yarns i have added to stash but cant add to my normal storage because the places it would go have not been added to rav stash and i dont want some on rav stash and some not, it's a huge undertaking to add everything! Wish I had done it as i received stuff, not left it forever! I'm learning from my mistakes! I love having a nice stash, I find it so inspiring! (my clothes are in another pax wardrobe next to the yarn / fabric storage one!).

I store my yarn in a plastic box in my wardrobe - it’s not a huge amount. I would love a stash as big and diverse as yours 😊

I was lucky enough to get a she-shed/office to put my yarn & craft items to store…I then have put my yarn into plastic tubs all categorised by weight of yarn 🧶

I put shelves on my bedroom wall and use cubes with clear fronts. I mainly store by weight.

Hi Mina Loved seeing this as it’s motivation to get mine sorted My yarn is currently stored under the bed of my room and the small double room. I do have a room that they will eventually go into but for now they are in packing cubes and plastic boxes I feel like I’m buying less but it doesn’t seem to be decreasing The smallest bedroom is going to be a craft and study room so maybe next year I’ll get that done

You are inspiring me to organize too!😅
I have plastic containers. It is also wherever I can find a place for it! I organize and then reorganize!😀

You were brave tackling the stash!
I’m lucky enough to have a large Arighi Bianchi drawer unit so all my indie-dyed yarn is stored in there with different weights of yarn in different drawers! Commercial sock yarn and acrylic is stored in Kallax boxes from Ikea. Anything not in there is either in project bags as a WIP or as a future WIP because there is no room left anywhere else! 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

Oh my goodness. I store my yarn in two chest of drawers, under my bed in vac bags which is hand spun, and 7-2 drawers. They are in a storage room. I have some in the living room, so it’s everywhere, lol

I need to go through my yarn, love your storing ideas I definitely need to get my yarn in some kind of order like putting it together in one area of the house. I just picked up bins to store my yarn in.

My yarn is in a huge black bin in my fiber room…as well as in project bags on a shelf in the bedroom. The Hubs has his in the original shopping bags his craft room…as well in bins on shelves in the family room. I had a huge mouse invasion over the summer while I was gone. Thankfully I’d binned everything! 🌈🌈🦋🦋 My sewing room fiber stash didn’t fare as well. 🧌 Most of that is in giant ziplock bags in cupboards.

I’ve got yarn in a couple drawers, a big laundry bin, and sort of all over. 😅. I’m hoping to get it all sorted better soon.

It's so satisfying watching other people sort their yarn. My yarn isn't stored "nicely" but I keep some in my work space and others in deep storage in our office. All in boxes. My kids are way too inclined to mess with it if they can see it 😅

My yarn is mostly in my craft room in Ikea calex storage cubes. I do of course also have it stashed in other areas throughout my house. I'm trying to get it all into plastic zip lock bags to keep it clean.

Organizing yarn makes me feel guilty for ever buying more yarn!! Oh well! I have a rolling cart with sock yarn, a basket of bits & bobs from sock yarns, I keep a basket of yarn filled with my next planned projects, and I have a big tote full of other yarns for sweaters, dish cloths, single skeins and things I think are pretty that I couldn't pass up.

I love watching your videos! Thank you for taking the time.
I store my yarn in my guest bedroom in several garment bags. I would love to have a better system where I could see what all I have but alas I do not. I have a thorough sorting session about once a year where I make a list of possible projects. I am about due to go through everything soon, I have a couple of projects I would like to cast on.

There is a free pattern on Ravelry called the Workday Scarf designed by Sue Flanders. It's a great pattern for that one skein of pretty yarn that you don't know what to do with. The scarf makes a great gift.
