    I have a Lenova Yoga 730-13IKB. It was flickering for a year and got to the point the screen would go completely dark unless I held the screen constantly with my left hand in a certain position. Geek Squad estimated $300-600 to send in for repair. I brought it home, watched this, opened it up, and found it was the connector at the origin (not the one behind the screen). It is my wife's computer and we are so grateful for your kindness and detail in sharing your work! Many thanks to you sir!

      Flex 5 2n1 has same issue. Before I got on the Lenovo forum and saw everyone @#$& about the same issue, I didn’t know if it was the screen or cable. Unfortunately, spite being an experienced tech myself and careful with pulling the tape. One side did snap and I was pretty much toast (screen cracked trying to finish
      Been in a box under bed for 2 years now. Went bad in 13 months (1 year parts/labor). I couldn’t find the right screen for couple of months. I did check the cable and noticed the way it was routed through the hinges and the insulation was worn. So need the cable too.
      Hate to throw out 799$ hardly used. Just can’t find the parts. Will try again when I get other projects done.
      I just think it’s a 💩 y design myself.

      @@stemmentor9700 stuff like this makes me realize why some people just prefer to spend the extra money on the "fruit" 🍎 laptops!!! 😂This was suppose to be a "luxury" laptop that costed $800 and it was still designed cheaply!!!

      So helpful. According to the video and this comment, I opened my Lenovo Yoga 710-15IKB and reseated the cable at both ends and resolved the screen flicker problem. Thanks to you both.

    Thank you so so so much for the help! I was worried about my laptop because it had been flickering for days and I felt sort of hopeless and desperate. I tried other videos but it was all in vain. But your video is the only one which helped at last! It’s working now and I’m grateful. Thank you!!!

    If the tape tears beyond reach, a work around I found is to gradually lift the screen carefully inserting stacks of paper cards such as flash cards as you go. The cards keep the screen from coming back down and just keep working it up from bottom to top.

      I didn’t try that. Too afraid to use hair blower on low heat so tried my darnest and sadly screen cracked. I did see that the cable itself was wearing through insulation near the hinges and grounded out.
      2 years now waiting for me to put bs k together as I gave up trying to find parts when it first broke.
      Anyone know a good site to find a screen n cable. Let me know.

    If the screen is partially flickering, is that also something to do with the cable?
    If we cut the new double sided tape off, how are we going to remove the tape if we need to make any future screen repair?

    One thing to try if this doesn't fix the issue or if it comes back (i.e. - you can still use the touchscreen or see a faint image when you shine a light to it at an angle -- meaning it's just the backlight & not the screen entirely being broken) -- when you pull out the connector as he shows -- stick a piece of electrical tape underneath it before you put it back in. In my case, that was enough to wedge the connector enough to keep the pins touching & keep it working without the flicker. I also didn't bother re-taping the screen to the laptop so you can get back in there if need be.

      I did the same thing at the location where the connector connects on the bottom of the laptop. A few pieces of electrical tape (tesa tape in my case) stacked high enough that it would wedge the connector against the bottom cover, keeping it securely mounted.

    If your tools are ESD safe and you use an anti static band then you can use those metal tools.

    what if the screen breaks again how do you take off the screen because with the double sided tape you dont leave the lip where you can pull it out from the bottom

    • @JherzsTV
      @JherzsTV 3 года назад

      he said you can use heat gun behind the screen so that the tape will kinda lose its sticky component

    My screen is flikering a lot, more like blinking so I can't use it. But this method don't fix my problem. Maybe the hole cable is bad? My yoga is 5-6 years old and daily use.

    If after resetting and retaping the connector some flickering with hinge rotation STILL PERSISTS, what is the recommended repair to address the root cause? a)replace the FHD LCD display panel? b)replace the harness which passes through the hinges and connects to the motherboard? c)something else?

    • @stemmentor9700
      @stemmentor9700 2 года назад

      I found my problem to be the cable was worn through where it went through the hinges. By this time the screen was cracked as the tape didn’t come off (snapped ).
      Check your cable closely. IF I ever get around to repairing mine, I’m going to give it some lead way it was really tight and I only had the laptop in use for 13 months. Sucks. It’s a Flex 5 1540- not much difference. Just finding parts

    Thank you very much for the video! I got a Lenovo Yoga 14-ISK. Got the same problem since a while, but for me if I lower the brightness the screen flickering was getting less normally. Now since few days my display stopped working entirely (except for the touchscreen, thats still working). Also my Webcam first had a loose connection (for ~2 years) and then stopped working at all (since half a year maybe). Do you think applying your fix would work here too?

    Works on the yoga 510 too. Just a little easier to detach the screen because no double sided tape. This eDP connector is a real failure of technology !

    Great video. Please could you give me detail of what double sided red tape I need, also its size eg 6mm. Also do I need to disconnect the battery? or just make certain I do not turn it on?. I must admit I do not want to go into computer to disconnect battery, but if I have to I will.
