I liked your approach of diagnosing the problem. Most of the viewers do not have the background to identify which component to check using multimeter. Your way is the preferred way instead of replacing the screen and throwing away the existing one. Thanks for your good work. I wish I could get that kind of training, which I always loved. I liked your style of teaching and have already clicked "Like".

If the laptop owner comes back because he would like to be able to adjust the brightness: do a 'vintage' repair: take an NE555, a potentiometer, a few discrete components and create a PWM signal with that, for adjusting the screen brightness. Works very well. It's a simple circuit which can easily be built without a circuit board. Just hot-glue it to the back of the screen. Very dodgy but functional. For extra luxury, an LDR can be added to the circuit, so it will automatically dim and brighten up according to ambient light level.

That is NOT a hardware fault. It is a energy saving thing by intel. Its called "Intel Display Power Saving". Disable it !!! The voltage goes up and down because the driver is dimming the whole time.

Very helpful video!!!... 1st I had to remove the damaged screen doing exactly as he explained, checked the exact model and rear video connector position, ordered the new screen (making sure it is 100% compatible with the original laptop model + video connector exact location behind), safely store the disassembled laptop parts with care by holding with tape the little screws while waiting for the new part. Once I received the new screen, I followed exactly as this guy explained ensuring that all connectors were properly inserted and... VOILA!... it worked.
    >>> JUST 3 LITTLE EXTRA ADVISES: 1) Keep the NEW front protective (transparent) screen cover on it while re-assembling until you need to put the final frame cover. 2) Be careful not to confuse the bottom screws with the LONGER pair that belongs to the plastic screen cover at the end of this procedure, otherwise won't hold it (as I did it), so you have to swap them all back correctly. 3) Ensure that the plastic frame >>cover hinges

It could be a missing capacitor or broken track for multiple capacitors on the backlight power circuit, that's causing the backlight to get the "unevened" clean pulse of current. The issue may not occur on charger because in windows settings, the backlight is set to 100% when plugged in, and less than 100% on battery. That is also why it doesn't occur on startup, only after windows logon. The user may have caused that while replacing RAM or HDD, or by slipping a screwdriver in the wrong place

I have that problem on my Toshiba. Mostly stable video until I adjust the screen angle, then lots of flashing. But sometimes I get a little flashing when it's just sitting there. I unplugged the charger and it started flashing, but then settled down. It may have just been the movement that caused that. Put the charger back in and moved the screen. Lots of flashing but then it settled down. Would love to get it fixed. It's still a good laptop and it's running a website monitoring program for me.

My laptop flickering is removed by upping the screen brightness all the way [weird, but works] OR by putting computer where it can temporarily cool down for a few minutes. I turn it on it's side like an open folder and place in the coldest, computer safe spot available for a few minutes. Invariably the screen stops flickering when the system 'cools off' because it was running hot. I previously explored other more technical fixes till I finally discovered these two consistently effective fixes for my system. Went through so much trying to resolve it and it boiled down to these non-technical solutions. Has worked without fail all year now.

The solution is very good. I was lucky because it was a software problem. On an Asus x54h laptop with hd7470m graphics card, Windows 10 put the latest video driver and when I set the brightness less than 100%, the backlight lights went out completely, and when I set brightness to 100% they were on the maximum so I couldn't watch to the monitor and the solution was to put an old but good video driver and to block the driver update in windows.
E foarte buna solutia.

I have a Toshiba Satellite Radius P55W-B5224 laptop whose screen flickers. I connected it to an external monitor with a HDMI cable and the display on the external monitor was perfect. I watched a movie for more than one hour non stop with charger connected. While the external monitor screen display was perfect, the laptop screen after flickering for a long time, became dark. So is it a software (Intel Graphics setting) or hardware (damaged/failed) laptop screen issue? I disconnected the touch screen cable, still flickering, pink some time green color flashes, unstable screen color changes continued. Viewer feedback as well as author's feedback is highly appreciated. All the vowels of the key board are out - not working; I am using an external keyboard. I have already tried to load the old display driver and tried. same issue. I have updated the display driver, same issue. Both times, the external monitor display was perfect. Thanks for reading.

I had that same experience. The miners and scalpers were buying them and with them using those bots it was impossible to get a hold of any graphics card for a fair price. A Bestbuy store not far from me had do GT 1030s all throughout the scalping epidemic. Turns out they were so worthless no one wanted them! They would be just fine for a computer used strictly for office work or homework but most people wanted something that could run some games without having to run them at 720p on low settings. It was so bad people were buying older cards just to try and get a better deal when in reality the scalpers and miners were just giving us all the short end of the stick and feeling good about it just like any other scumbag of a human being!!

ok as technician i agree and disagree with you Sorin. Maybe the initial problem solved choosing the easiest / cheaper solution but the ios will bring new troubles beginning by this over charging value....On the other hand portbility or screen brightness adj. ? I choose the second....anyway this is an old laptop....
