I purchased one of these too, when you showed it in a prevous video. it is a LX body, i have one in rose gold which is the same style except the end pieces and clip. The way the lamy logo is engraved gives it away.. I collect al-stars also and this ws a great find. thank you.
Great to see you making regular videos again. Hope your house move went well and getting settled in. I am a big fan of Lamy Safaris and Al-stars and like to post my caps - not an issue with how light they are. However, I just got my first Lx in the Marron colour, and did not realise how much heavier it is. The metal finial (i think) but the whole pen is off balance.
Thanks James! I'm still so very busy with DIY that these are all pre recorded videos from the old flat. Running a RUclips channel is very time consuming and it'll be a while before I get around to shooting more videos - but I now have a room dedicated to pens and inks! I've been tempted by the LX but the cost seems too high compared to the Al-star, for me anyway.
@@FountainPenJourney My bad! Getting the new place set up is much more important. Thanks at least for pre-recording videos rather than not at all. All the best with your DIY and great you've got a dedicated spot for pens and inks!! Hope we a get a tour at some point
Thanks for the heads up with the black clip & anodised nib. Not a big fan of medium or broad nibs, quite like the fine nibs; I haven't had a chance to get my hands on an extra fine nib. Quite like the Al Star, not sure about the gold colour, mine is the light metallic blue with silver coloured metal clip. I hope your wife is feeling better, she didn't sound well at all.
Not sure if I'll ever get a Lamy Safari or Al-Star. I'm just not attracted to the way they look. Good thing there are many other options open, right? 😁 I do have an interest in the nibs, however. Though most are not anything remotely like a flex nib, that's not a big deal for me. I like my extra stiff, can be driven into oak manifold nibs as well as anything with flex. With so many Chinese pens out there, and all come with a converter, it's kind of a deal breaker when a pen, in any price range, that can use a converter, doesn't come with one. Cartridge only pens? I can deal with those. In fact, I'm looking at one, currently. I agree with you about Rhodia paper. I'm just not as thrilled with it as much as Clairefontaine Triomphe for my needs. Same company, different writing experience. Why there's a variety out there. 😉 Would I get a Lamy? Yes. I do like several of the other models. Even with the basic, Lamy style of nibs. I'd just have to save up. Thanks for sharing this pen (and the ink! I may need to get some of that!)

Once it's all done I'll do a tour 😁
I'm very happy with my Lamy Safari. It's definitely a workhorse pen, It's affordable, great writer.

I find the Lamys to be such solid pens, but I just don't like the way they look.
Yeah, that's exactly how I feel about this design, too.

Was your wife throwing up in the background? 😂😂 I hope she's ok!
Pretty much! Hahaha!
