Good timing Rob. I was just looking at these on Aliexpress. I keep small pens and a pad in my bag for unplanned sketching opportunities. Thanks for the review.
Did a Google search, and I can say that they are available only on AliExpress for the United States market as well. Whilst I am not really interested in pastel colours, I have a niece who is another "fountain pen person" that may enjoy one. Thanks for sharing this! And I have another English fountain pen! (I had an Osmiroid 65.) I was able to get a Conway Stewart 286 for about £34! (I'm not afraid to put in a little bit of work. This one was a steal, basically because of someone was getting rid of someone else's estate, and it only needs a new ink sac.) Bargains are out there, if you keep looking. 😉
They look very nice, wish I could try them before ordering blindly online. Comes in F only I believe. I can get a cheap Preppy M and swap the section, but then it becomes a $17 pen, then it's the same price as my Perkeo...hmm...what to do. The packaging tube is a nice touch, on the other hand they will double the plastic waste in landfills, don't you think? Paper packaging is better.
Hello, I actually think these are fine nibs, I bought an ef recently (platinum meteor to) the nib is quite different, with some Chinese characters on it, bit it's also a great nib
1. I bent and ruined a Platinum Preppie nib pretty easily doing the press-on-your-thumbnail technique attempting to increase wetness. So it's definitely a thing. 2. Thanks for including the reverse writing. I personally reverse write all the time, and don't care how scratchy it feels, just so it doesn't dig into the paper.
A good method for increasing wetness is to write 8 vertical lines with some pressure about 1 cm in length. Don't get too carried away with the pressure.
Hi Rob, Great review video! Platinum preparatory cartridge - now that is a tongue twister if I ever saw one. That packaging is well nice for the amount of money you spent on the pen. Well impressed that you got a cheap Platinum converter on some of these pens [two out of six is good]. Now these are marketed for children and yet it doesn't have holes in barrel [in case child chokes on barrel]. Does it post well? Can you interchange the grip section with a Platinum Preppy? Ooh, they all come in EF nibs now that is interesting. Thanks for the warning about not putting too much pressure on these nibs.
@@FountainPenJourney Thanks for the clarification on the posting. Please let me know if you can swap the grip sections between Meteor & Preppy/Prefounte/Plaisir.
@@FountainPenJourney I wish you luck with your moving too. Especially the fountain pen bit. I did that some month ago. Didn’t lose any pens or inks in the process, wich I was a bit worried about beforehand.
the packaging is genius, kids love tiny receptacles to keep various tidbits, samples or slime experiments

Like writing with a soft pencil. That's the perfect description of the writing experience
Thank you - it's not an easy feeling to describe, so I'm glad that you agree with my description 👍
“Make up your own mind. It’s a free world.” - best phrase I’ve heard in a while 😂😂
If only other people followed this philosophy..!
My first thought was these look like my Kaweco pen. I really like my Perkeo, so so would like to see your review.
I think people are sleeping on that pen! I think the nibs are better than the sport.

It posts really well but I haven't tried swapping the sections.

Will do. It might be a while though as we're moving house.
@@FountainPenJourney Thanks.
I hope all goes well with the house move.
