  • Travel back to the early 1900s to meet Charlie Poole, a linthead from Eden, and hear his revolutionary approach to banjo. Poole appeared in the May 2009 issue of Our State magazine. "Our State," the television program, is produced by UNC-TV and Our State magazine with generous support from BB&T.

A very nice and informative video (and great music , too). The history of country music is fascinating, and this one is relatable to us as we used to live in North Carolina.
Also, you have a very sweet singing voice, Laura, it's perfect for the song you were playing at Charlie's gravesite.

So I've started researching the origins of country music and this is the only documentary of country music artists from the 20s I've found. Very nice.

I am here to learn about Charlie Poole because Bob Dylan spoke glowingly about him in his new theme time hour about whiskeys

That would be Spray, NC, which is now part of the greater Eden area.
