  • Installation of wide metal gate frame and how I designed it in such a way that it was easy to attach the wooden slats.
    Here I show how I have fabricated and welded metal framed gates clad with wood to help secure an area.
    Quick run through of how I have made these and the installation process.

      Cheers Peter, it was just a set of gates for me personally, so did not take too much time over the look of them. More function over cosmetics but they will do the job and importantly - Not Sag or twist over time. Thanks for the comment 👍

    Nice solution to fitting the panels, better than filling the frame full of holes. Like the tension bar frame, can clad with much lighter wood than would be needed for structure if only wood. Great gate.

      Thanks for the comment, not a very detailed video but hopefully you got the idea. Yes, that gate has not budged an inch so far, very structurally sound - far better than the old wooden gates that were there before ! Cheers

    Very nice job - just what I need. But I might be a bit too far south. Agree about seeing the greenery. You really do have a beautiful spot there. :)

    Hi Barry very nice work on the gates and having your own timber yard is a good move locking the price and bulk purchase I have had some problems lately with supply and some very poor quality treated timber splitting and twisting within a couple of weeks from being installed. Would be good to see some fabricated work on the channel as well. Thanks for the update 👍

      Cheers Rob, yes all sorts of problems with timber shortages at the moment. The small yard will certainly help but still a pain shifting all the stuff. I wish it was like the good old days when you could just get the timber delivered directly to the job.............but at the moment having to order well in advance and take what's available as soon as it's available......yrh, will get some fabrication type videos up in the future. Hope all's good with you and the family mate !

      You can get them from Amazon or ebay or on the web, Just search for weld on hinges or metal gate hinges and you will see them. I think there are links in the description on the video as well. Thanks

    Anit the brace going wrong way...

    • @Bacrenfencing
      @Bacrenfencing  3 года назад +4

      The brace is going the correct way, it is a TENSION brace, not a COMPRESSION brace. Wooden gates have compression braces going from the top corner back to the hinge, steel structures have tension braces which provide greater stability as steel does not stretch drastically (hence why you put the brace in tension). Thanks for the comment.

      @@globeforever9777 Thanks GF, yes a lot of people seem to get confused with bracing whether it be gates or actual structures. Thanks for the comment
