    Thank you for all the information. I’m about to purchase my first hearing aids in over 20 years. I had a 30 day trial with Widex about 6 years ago and had a great experience but never kept them. Now to decide, I really don’t what to go with. This is a huge investment for me, so I want to make I get the most out of it. I have a new iPhone and I’m stuck between Oticon, Omnia 9 and the new Starkey Genesis. I work at a restaurant and I’m always using headphones for music, phone calls, tv and video games. I don’t know how to choose.

    I’ve been with Oticon for a few years, and I have a trial of the Oticon real 2. I absolutely love them for my tinnitus, and they are an upgrade from the lower model I’ve been wearing. But the price! Even with a $2500 insurance benefit, I still would be paying over $2000 out of pocket.

    I have the Starkey Genesis mRIC hearing aids and love them. The music program sounds great, and the Edge+ mode is excellent. I find the sound is much more natural. They work great with Android as well, and I like the ability to customize the settings on the go using the app. I wear glasses, and these hearing aids are small enough to be comfortable with glasses.

    I am in the middle of a trial period with the Phonak that you described. I called their support line a couple times and there was a long wait but I was given the option to leave my phone number for a callback. I did this twice and have not heard back in over two days. I also emailed them a question on their website to which they have not responded. So I am not happy with their customer service!

    I had such high hopes for the Starkey Genesis AI devices that I got from the VA in June when they first came out. I have had nothing but grief with them so they are going back to Starkey and I'm going back to the Phonak Lumity devices that I had prior to the Starkeys. I really like the classic bluetooth that Phonak uses because it lets me stream from my PC laptop into the hearing aids without using an intermediate device like a remote microphone.

    Hi: A week ago I was at the audiologist office and after a number of tests, she prescribed me a pair of hearing aids with a quote of $4800, which will be fitted on me a week later. Later at home, I Googled and found the online price of exactly the same hearing aids to be $3200. Is this normal, or am I getting scammed?
    Is the $1600 difference quite customary and necessary to cover the service to be provided by the audiologist in the weeks/months afterwards?

    • @HearingTracker
      @HearingTracker  Год назад +2

      Hey Nuuk it’s a common question. Hearing aids aren’t easy to programme, personalise and maintain, there’s a huge service led element being provided by your audiologist. Therefore they’re only as good as how well they’re set up.
      I often have the same question in clinic and value my time effort and knowledge, (which hopefully comes across in my videos) more than the next person. Times that extra money over the years that hearing aids will last and the cost isn’t that much more.
      I hope this helps. Matthew

    I disagree with your assessment of the styletto being more of a fashion statement rather than a hearing aid. I haven't been able to wear BTE hearing aids because I wear hats, and glasses. the slimmer design allows me to wear these BTE hearing aids so I can have better quality hearing aids. I normally wear custom hearing aids.

    Starkey es una chapuza, lo peor en conectividad bluetooth con enorme diferencia, no consigue conectar ni emparejarse con Android. He probado, Resound, Signia, Danavox, Phonak. Todas, excepto Starkey permiten llamadas que se gestionan oyendo y hablando por el audífono, oír RUclips por el audífono o aviso de watshapp entrante, menos Starkey. Además Phonak juega en otra categoría, mucha más distancia y se oyen de maravilla. En Android.

    These bluetooth aids will make the elderly more deaf like teens, listening to music directly blasting in their eyes. This review is such rubbish, making an amplifier into a much more complicated experience. My Dad has the NY Times recommended "Tweak" and it was $299 per ear. Zvox, their budget pick is $249 a pair!!! Don't be conned into spending more.
