I've formatted today's video a little differently to how I normally make videos, and compared feature as Ive gone along rather than discussed one hearing aid at a time. Let me know which format you prefer. Thanks for watching, Matthew
One of the great features of the Phonak and the Starkey is the ability to increase the volume by using the magnet or app - this means if I am going into a conference room or a presentation I can temporarily increase volume and then put it back to normal after the meeting. This is invaluable and I recently discounted buying the Oticon because it lacks this capability. This is an incredible feature and you should mention how useful this can be when going into a situation where you need more volume temporarily.
I am a 3 year Lyric user and the reality of raising the volume situationally is that you often get annoying feedback at the higher volumes unless it is perfectly positioned in your ear.
Thanks for the presentation. I have had tinnitus my while life and a recent test shows over 4k Hz is near profound hearing loss (but I have a good base up to 2k) . I can't really afford high-end fitted aids right now but could in a couple of years. I'm still middle-aged. Could you suggest a OTC option with an adjustable app and rechargeable to start?
I would like to warn about deceiving practice from the eargo makers. I asked to have a sample(just for checking fit, non functional) as they advertise this. Once I did submit, i was informed they would call me to "confirm address and ask more info" WTF. I didn't think i was signing up to some telemarketer nightmare..
Great reviews as usual.... I am wondering if Chosgo's Smart-u is not included in your reviews because they are not worth their price in your view? The charger design looks very similar to the Eargo, the price (regular $1600 for a pair and $900 on Black Friday!) is very competitive. The website does not, however , provide much info ont he internal fesatures, though the description is very promising. I am wondering if they are clone or generic version of the Eargo (Chinese manufacturer), without all the support and if, not a great way to get access to similar technology at a very competitive price. Your input would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Hi, Firstly thank you for your very informative video. I am researching on behalf of a family member. She went to an audiologist and they recommended an Amplifon hearing aid. Is this a good make and worth the investment as I have never heard of it and it doesn't appear in this video?
Hey Hayes, thank you for taking the time out to comment. Amplifon is a provider rather thank a hearing aid itself (although they do make white label tech too). Have you looked at any of the big 6? Matthew
@@HearingTracker Hi Matthew, thanks so much for your reply and the info on Amplifon. Much appreciated. No, we haven't checked out any of the big 6. I am going to make an appointment for my Mum with an independent audiologist as you suggested.
Hey Hearingtracker Community☺️ As a German audiologist I can tell you my patients and I (also wearing hearingaids) have the best experience with Phonak Lyric and Oticon Own👍🏽 💯
Why are you not discussing t coils / hearing loops? They deliver a significantly better signal to noise measurement than all the directional technology in Hearing aids.
Hi Dnem, because the telecoil isn’t in any of them… If you want to know more about a telecoil then you can always check out this video on telecoils…. ruclips.net/video/XG_IBLNZUQA/видео.html
Doctor, I have the phonak virto, and because it is gray in the corners (and not black), it is a bit visible. It is the oticon one more invisible given that it can be completely black?
Hey Diego, thanks for reaching out. I know exactly what you mean I have seen this before. If you’re not happy with it then have a chat with your audiologist as they may be able to have it remade. Alternatively this wouldn’t be an issue with another manufacturer no. Hope that helps, Matthew
@@HearingTracker thanks for the answer. Invisibility is key for me. In your opinion, is oticon IIC is smaller than phonak IIC (not the titianium, considering that the grey part is visible)? I have read starkey is small, but could get damaged easily. Thanks in advance for your answer
Thank you for this informative video comparing OTC and prescription hearing aids! It's essential to have a comprehensive understanding of the options available. We have sent you an email expressing our interest in collaboration and connection. We would love to discuss this topic further and explore potential opportunities together.
FWIW....I am life-long SSD. Via audiologist and two-week trials of Oticon and Phonak Bi-Cross devices, I chose Phonak. VERY strong opinion about those free trials. Learned a lot from actual use that wouldn't have occurred to me in mere office visits. As far as I know, all of the top-tier manufacturers offer free trials. I willl never again make an HA purchase without taking advantage.
Hey Morgan, great question. That really all depends on how the audiologist has set them up. I have a video on the best hearing aid settings for music which you should check out. Matthew
So my question is what do I do when I can not absolutely stand anything in my ears. I have had awful ear infections that put holes in my ear drums not sure if this plays into it. Also I do not wear any kind of ear pods I use bone conduction headphones
I hate the new minature, hard to handle technology. Ive been wanting an over the head earphone style since I got my first ones. Surely im not the only deaf person who hates the tiny stuff.
With these hearing aid Prices so expenses. I Bet yea In year or Two OTC Hearing aid from Sony, Jebra,HP will give this audiologist real compitition. It will bring the price really down. Wait & watch.

You are the best. Thank you for your wonderful videos. You provide so much great information.
You are so welcome! What a lovely comment, thanks Ana! Matthew
Hi Mathew, thanks for your tutorial. What is the most powerful iic on the market? Thanks
Hey Andrew - if I’m looking for maximum power and discretion at the same time I’ll look to Starkey. Hope this helps, Matthew

Matthew is more than helpful. He's also an excellent audiologist.

Which is the best hearing aid manufacturing Co that provides by-cross hearing aid for single sided deafness?!
Hi Jones, out of these discussed today the only one that can be made into a CROS is the Signia. I hope that helps, Matthew

Honestly, if I’d wanted a seminar on hearing aid tech, that’s what I would have asked for. This video is worthy of a Harvard MBA class.

No one is mentioning that lyric hearing has a loud background noise and there is no way to control. Almost made me throw up.
