Hi, I'm Maggie and I have Crohn's disease. I am thrilled to be here sharing my personal experiences with Inflammatory Bowel Disease as well as living with an ostomy. I'm proud to share a little bit from a clinical experience as well, having worked as a GI pediatric nurse and ostomy telehealth nurse. I am so glad you are here. ♥ #ibd #crohnsdisease #ostomy

19:35 Showing Incision (again)
Hey! I'm a new member, as well as a newly ileostomied (not a word I know) fella. I'm really trying to adjust to this stuff, but it isn't easy as you know all too well. Anyways, just want to say thank you for normalizing this experience and making me feel like I'm less of a freak than I feel.
I hope your journey goes well. Maggie will help you get through so many issues.
@@loisboling9287 don't watch if you don't want to know everything
There is a lot of ostomy advice across RUclips & other social media.
Don't be afraid to ask your stoma nurse. To me.... it's better to know than to question yourself and ask if this is right.
I'm a double ostomate, urostomy and colostomy. Had my urostomy since June 2019, and the other since May 2020. Even 5 years on..... I'm still learning. Things change, products change..... but..... we got this!
Having a stoma isn't just physical, but mental too. Don't be too harsh on yourself. Everyone gets through their journey at different levels.
Get friendly with your stoma. Give it a name. Mine are called Squirt & Pita! (aka...pain in the a$$)
Best wishes to you.
You’re definitely not a freak, I’ve had my ileostomy for 24 years now!
Best of luck on your ostomy journey. My stoma is named Squirt!
My husband had this exact same thing everywhere he had a suture knot. The surgeon suggested warm compresses. They said it was due to the inflammatory response that causes the sutures to break down. Eventually, it did go away, but if it didn't, the plan was to cut the knot out. I hope your issue resolves on its own.
The dress looks AMAZING!!!! So happy to see you in a positive mood and treating yourself! ❤
Thank you!!! 🩷
I was just about to say the same thing Maggie!!
You looked stunning
Oh, I love that so much. I never thought about that. 20 years on, I am a "mamma of an angel." Thank you.
I'm at high risk of ectopic pregnancy because of scar tissue in my fallopian tubes and I find your videos very informative about that topic, thank you for your honesty throughout all your videos, that's very refreshing on RUclips!
My c section incision went through a painful, strange phase of healing about two weeks in. Went to get it checked out, everything was fine, and it continued to heal well. That was almost 14 years ago. The numbness came caused by the nerves being cut took years to heal, and I still wouldn’t say they are ‘normal’, but much improved. Healing can be ugly! ❤❤❤
Yes I had my C-Section 27 years ago and it is still numb in places and itches when the weather is changing.
@@clairestephens4916😮
I have a c-section incision that also oozed. I was told to keep the incision opened-don’t keep it super covered after 24 hrs. I put a gauze pad over my incision and had my underwear/pants hold it in place. My doctor recommended I don’t use tape around the gauze since it can create moisture, which doesn’t help with healing. I’m sure you know all these things from previous surgeries :) I thought I would mention my experience:) Happy Tuesday!
I had exactly the same thing and my nurse suggested keeping a sanitary pad over the area to provide absorption and padding . It worked fine . time is the healer isn't it .
Maggie and probably lots of other people watching🤷♀️ Every year I realize how much us Crohnies are alike. Even down to the way our bodies reject sutures. Like, every year my mom and I watch you and your journey, we both will talk about how something that is affecting you, has also affected me. I hope one day that med science will figure out if it’s a geneology thing or a biologic that will cure ALL autoimmune diseases.
That is a,Beautiful and Thoughtful Bracelet.
I would try leaving it open to air, go commando, wear a dress and let it dry out. If you are concerned about the open area, a bandaid will work and keep it together. No rubbing in the shower but get a good soapy washcloth and squeeze the soapy water over it and rinse well. Watch the drainage for color, consistency and odor. Old RN here. That suture may work it’s way out
I wish you could have waxed instead of shaved
@@grrlmom I think she said in her other video that they didn't even shave her before the surgery 😬
Have you tried warm compresses on that area? That should help to dissolve the stitch. Also, soaking in a warm tub might help also to dissolve them.
You look STUNNING in that dress!! So gorgeous. Glad to see you up and about ❤❤❤❤
My c section had similar issues and even swelled on those inner stitch knots. Eventually headed fine! I would say, for me at least: silicone strips made it worse. When I gave it a break it oddly got better. But everyone is different. They’re definitely awesome for protecting from clothing so maybe just try some time each day with it off? But I’m not a doc. Fingers crossed it’ll heal well. Also, those bracelets are so gorgeous!
You look gorgeous in that new dress. I love it with the denim jacket. Death anniversaries are surreal. When my husband died suddenly, it was Valentine's Day. My kids and I dread it every year.
Continued prayers for a quick recovery. You help so many people. My father in law had an emergency surgery for a colon perforation. He is still in ICU. Your story has been insightful. Thank you for sharing your story.
Your doing great 🥰
my sister had 2 emergency ectopic pregnancy’s one after the other and was extremely poorly after both ♥️ but she did go on to have 2 beautiful children ❤️❤️ who are now adults themselves 😁
Take care of yourself you are doing fantastic 🥰
Love to see more of your dogs. They seem to have been absent. Your dogwood trees are real pretty.🏵🏵🏵
Your looking great Maggie❤
You look great Maggie! I'm so happy to hear you're feeling more settled and positive, and getting back to doing fun things again-so important for our mental health. Love the dress-you look so pretty in it!
Hello, and I hope it heals on its own. The flowers are beautiful 😍 and love the dress it suits you well .dog wood is beautiful. The area looks very well sometimes it takes time to heal .all the best. Thanks for sharing and take care 😊😊😊
numbness with incisions are normal, the nerve endings will heal in due time and you'll regain feeling there. It's just going to feel really weird for a while, I know my thyroidectomy surgery had loss of feeling above the incision for about... roughly 6 months to a year afterwards. I had a little bump on the edge of my incision but they did surgical glue which was interesting, the small bit of glue was actually partially in the edge of the incision and one day I was able to squeeze it and it popped out and then the edge healed up just fine. It's totally normal!
What a wonderful gift so heartfelt❤
I just hit 2 months after my surgery, you are moving so much better than I was! I was sore and hobbling around for 6 weeks 😂
Wow! That screen is amazing. Love the dress, you look lovely xx
I had a similar issue after my knee surgery. A hard “pimple” popped up a few weeks after surgery, much like yours. It was a stitch. It worked its way out enough, eventually, and the surgical tech was able to remove it. Hopefully yours will resolve soon!
I love your way of helping others. Your so awesome Maggie. Use black drawing salve on that spot where the stitch is at...it will heal you up quickly.
Maggie, you are looking great! Now, you're going to laugh--When you were unboxing the green screen, I thought you were hanging curtains, and said to myself;; oohh that color green was not going to go with the rest of the room . haha God bless
It's just so wonderful hearing you talk about the cute dress and having fun.
I just had a pretty much identical incision a couple months ago, and after no more than a week the surgeon removed the dressing to let it breathe. I think it helped with the healing process. Maybe you could try to (if it's okay with your doctor) when at home at least, try to use very low cut pants and remove the dressing.
My 2nd csection incision did the same thing it was the stitch it did eventually work its way out and healed
Beautiful gift ❤
I just want to hug you…..you’re such a sweet person❤ I wish you and Zack the best!!
That is called the surgeons site. We tug and close to ourside. A stitch trying to emerge. Site looks beautiful!!
I’m so happy that you’re feeling better and not as scared!! You look great:)
Ingrown hair? Just a thought. I’m sure you thought about that already, but I’ve had two c-sections and, for both of them, had one or two ingrown hairs on my incision line that caused a tad bit o worry.
Wait… you literally JUST said you have ingrown hairs, in the video. Yep, just heard it, so clearly you thought of that already haha.😂
Stop apologizing for stuff! You’re awesome and you don’t have shiz to apologize for! Said with love xoxo ❤
As always, thank you for sharing. I find tranquility in making videos too, only I don’t have the guts to post them. I see you work through your issues the same way as I do, and I LOVE your transparency. You will help many people :)
What a beautiful gift from your friend. Very thoughtful
You look very beautiful in that dress! The green screen is awesome. I also have those poles that I used many years ago for a booth backdrop. I'll have to think about getting a green screen and using them again. And your incision line looks good, too. Maybe send a picture to your doctor to see what they think. I hope it heals up quickly on its own. 💜
Think your incision looks fine ❤
Glad to see you have your energy back Maggie! Sending big hugs ❤
I've had nearly 20 surgeries in the past 20 years.. Everywhere I've had an incision is numb and some of the surrounding areas.. 🤷🏼♀️.. It's a strange feeling when I get an itch in those areas even though they are numb🙄
Maybe it’s just doing what it’s suppose to be doing forcing stitch to the surface. You look wonderful. Try getting involved in a good book😍…visit the library hopefully near by. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Maggie. What a very thoughtful gift from your best friend.
I'm not a nurse, just a mom, can you put some polysporin on the area?
Love the knit dress. So cute.
I love Dogwood trees. We have flowering pear trees, which are beautiful.
I'm so sorry about you losing your mom at such an early age. It's never easy. My thoughts are with you.
Can you do a telemed with your surgeon?
Stay well. You look great. I hope everything turns out OK with your incision. Hugs. ❤🫶
It does need air. Can you cut your patch and put it around the area. That might be enough to keep some rubbing off of it. Maybe even stack a couple barrier extenders around it? Or cut a chunk from an extender or your patch and have it cover everything around it
The bracelets are a lovely keepsake from your friend. I bought a gold ring with 3 small diamonds on the band. These represent the 3 miscarriages I had. I never got that rainbow baby. I was in my mid 40s so the odds were not in my favour. I have my two sons and loving partner so am forever grateful for them. Take care
That is the sweetest thing
Pretty white dress, Maggie. Love it. Looks nice on you. Green 💚 🟩 screen looks great. I like it! Your garden is lovely too. You know all the different names of the flowers. What a big yard.
Hi Maggie, new Urostomy, home after intensive care and first time of all my surgeries I have staples. Thanks for all you do. There is a lot of healing for your from your procedures and grieving. 🌹🌹🌹
You look beautiful and happy. Glad you are healing.
Love your garden❤️❤️❤️
You have an amazing attitude!
I have had two stitch knots to do that. They are so irritating! Once they were opened and taken out it felt so much better. Get it taken care of so it doesn’t get infected.💜💜
I'm glad the fear has dissipated for you. I pray that hope has replaced it❤
My son is 25 and I still have numbness in some spots from my c section scar.
Love the background colors
My favorite season is SPRING 🌸
All of mine do that, too. I also tend to overdo it and tear a bit. My cesarean scar still feels numbish nearly 30 years later.
I have a problem with dissolvable stitches. I always have to dig out the knot on the end and if it causes the end area to open a bit I just use steri strips to close it back up for a few days. Good luck ❤
You have a great attitude!
several years ago I had a mole/birthmark on my arm removed by the dermatologist. After about 10 days the stitches had to come out, so I went to my GP. The doctor's assistant came and tried to get it out, but at one end of that stitch there was a knot grown under the skin. She then said: uh, yeah I am not going to try that myself, I am getting the doctor. Doctor came, put me on the table and started talking randomly (for distraction). She then yanked the knot out. So I ended up having a small hole in my skin. I just put a little bandaid over it, and it healed nicely. I am thinking it might be the same for your incision/knot...
It looks beautiful. Worry is just a battle
You’re incision looks fine. Actually really good. Give it some air so it can breathe.
I was thinking the same thing! It needs air. It's an odd location but while at home she could free ball & be naked on the bottom half lol or maybe high waisted loose pants.
What precious and thoughtful gifts from your friend in Texas. Love the Scripture she enclosed. You may also love Psalm 61: 2 "When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock that is higher than I." How wonderful it would be to have a beautiful flat tummy like yours. My ostomy is on the left and I have some folds I must deal with when trying to get a good seal.
I had the same thing happen to my Monsplasty incision. My board certified urogynecologist recommended me to palpate that spot (it was under the skin for me). Use your index finger and middle combined and apply one half inch of pressure in a circular motion. Do this multiple times a day… you’ll notice a change. It’s just because that’s where underwear hits it, and pants/ shorts lining. So, it’s awkward .
So happy you are progressing so well, but no suprise given who you are. Glad/sad you have another woman who is going through the same so you and Zac have people to share with. FYI gardening hack for weed control. I have forget me nots that I now use for weed control. The forget me nots are easy to control, pretty when the bloom and keep the weeds down. Who knew????
Wear a pair of drawstring pants or shorts above the incision. Blair catalog has some inexpensive pants or capris. Choose ones with mostly cotton. I have some and they are really comfy.
💕😢😢😭💕 So sweet.
beautiful nail colour
Thanks
Your incision looks good to me. I had 2 c sections and had all sorts of scary issues with my incision.
Love that new dress on you, looks really cute paired with the denim jacket and booties.
I had something similar with one of my hysterectomy incisions. Thankfully they’re really small. But one of the steri strips came off much earlier than even I expected. That’s the one that had the internal knot that worked its way out. Then came the insane itching which I at first thought was the incisions healing. Then my mom looked at my belly and saw the hives. Turns out I’m allergic to the adhesive on the strips. So tegaderm it was along with Benadryl cream and pills.
Omg those gifts!!!! I lost two babies to ectopic and it's so hard.
I think you are going the way your ment to. Mentally and physically. Nerves in the area either never or partially heal. It's an unusual feeling. 😳 ❤❤❤❤XOXO
I had a similar bump in the corner of my c section incision and the subcutaneous stitch knot sticking out and after some weeks the knot moved down under the skin, it was very stiff and I felt it scratch and itch while walking but it got better as the stitches dissolved gradually getting softer
oh dang what neat a green screen
Only another nurse can ravenously eat dinner and watch you mess with your surgical site…that’s me!😂
Me also.
Nothing bothers me after years of nursing
The scar doesnt look so bad, you can put some antibiotic creme over the edge where its opening up… or some remedy like st.john worts oil or coconut oil (both have antibacterial properties).. keep an eye on it, if it starts to spread maybe you’ll need oral antibiotics to do its thing from the inside.
Similar experience after my tube removal. It closed up nicely and I’m healing well now.
I had to have a stitch removed surgically. Just like yours is now. It stayed like that for a long time. My body doesn't like that dissolvable material. It just kept flaring up and oozing every so often. I have inflammatory auto immune stuff now, so that makes sense in hind sight...
❤❤❤
I think it’s an ingrown hair. I had similar after a Caesarian
With an incission one has to be careful that it is not tunneling. Silver nitrate in the wound helps stop it.
I never understood what a green screen was and now I do!
Hi Maggie! I had an unplanned c-section 9 years ago and the scar I have looks to be in a similar location as yours. 1) the hair thing I can relate to, haha. 2) I had the same sort of stitches; those dissolving ones. Several weeks (I think it was?) after, I had an "inner" stitch work it's way out. I did have my doctor check it out and all, but I made them nervous because I called and said I noticed a bit of clear fluid coming out. Doctor removed the pesky thing, and that area re-healed over like a small boo boo.
Lovely, thoughtful gift. I had a miscarriage at 14 weeks, a little boy. I still cry for him, 52 weeks ago. I have one C-section 37 years ago (first surgery for birth) and had the bikini cut even at 44. The incision was in the pubic hair, barely, and they applied no dressing. Never had any drainage to note. Only thing was that the whole surrounding was numb for over a year. It’s normal, I’m told.
The scar at that end doesn't look bad at all. Does look like a little spot.
I love the brackets! Do you have a link? Hope you get to feeling better ❤and no infection!!
My apologies- what brackets are you referring to? And thank you so much!!
@@LetsTalkIBD bracelet. Sorry typing without my glasses 😂
@@michellebridges2604been there...done that!!

pretty dress w the flowers behind
I had my gallbladder removed and they didn't use the right thread...my belly button was itchy and peeling and I woke up one morning with my intestin poking out! I also had staff in it
Has anyone ever told you you look like Alexis Bledel when she was in Gilmore girls 😊
Re the stitches, I had that happen. You probably need an antibiotic cream
Hello, if it's possible to get in America, try Szostakowski's balm, it's safe to use and heals everything super fast, very old but effective. I've recently rediscovered it.
Lilac gorgeous smell amazing
Numbness is normal. Mine is numb for years. But gets better. The bump does look like the stitch and skin irritation. Maybe add an allergy to dissolvable stitches.
☀️🌼
20:45 Would wearing a loose-fitting dress help? Something like a t-shirt dress that doesn't sinch at the waist. Idk though just a thought!
I have one of those knots! It hurrrts sometimes or at least feels very tight and uncomfortable. No fluid. I had that with both my c-section and partial hysterectomy. I remember my c section scar was an ugly scar for a year or two and itched like crazy!
I think you should be wearing big knickers to stop rubbing on the scar line. As a retired midwife we always advised ladies who had Caesarian section incisions to wear big pants! Let the air get to it as much as possible to . Dry it with a cool hairdryer after showering- not a towel
Don’t know you irl, but ily ❤
Maybe when the dr tried to get the stitch out she just irritated the top layer of skin and thats caused that one spot to dry out. once that one spot 'remoistens' the scar looks like its going to heal super clean and nice!
