  • In this video, I share my experience continuing with follicle monitoring prior to my first IUI, giving myself my first trigger shot of Ovidrel, and actually get the IUI done. This IUI results in an ectopic pregnancy, but I still wanted to share this process.

I think its good that you showed how nervous you were to do the injection, especially with your medical history and career because it shows that its normal to be nervous even if you have experience.

I have Crohn’s Disease. Diagnosed at 28 (now 61.) I went thru all you’re going thru. Shots everyday to build follicles, then a Lupron shot so I wouldn’t ovulate on my own, then a shot to make me ovulate, bring in the "goods" and have a IUI. Month after month after month. Disappointment after disappointment after disappointment. At age 29-ish, we switched to in vitro fertilization. Pretty much same initial procedures. BUT, instead of a shot to make me ovulate, they used a trans-vaginal ultrasound with a long needle on it to suck the eggs out of my ovary. Then they mixed them with the "goods" in a petri dish. After the eggs/sperm developed to a certain size, I’d go back in and they’d squirt them back in past my cervix. The first one (with 6 eggs failed.) The second one with 5 eggs was a success with only one egg implanting. We had really hoped for twins. So, we stopped after the one child. After 41 years of marriage, never pregnant once on my own. Crohn’s is a pain in the @ss in so many ways!

@LetsTalkIBD I'm sorry for your loss. Please do not give up. I was told by two doctors I'd never have kids, and to remove my ovaries. I had 8 surgeries on the west coast to no avail. I moved to NJ, and the obgyn I saw specialized in fertility and difficult pregnancy cases. I had my 9th surgery with him. Went back for my surgery check up and found out I was pregnant. It was a horrible journey after that, my body kept trying to abort him. Eventually, it had a happy ending. I know your pain and your joy. I didn't mean to come off insensitive by wishing you good luck. I dont know why I thought this was a new video and you tried again. I'm very sorry. I'm hoping for the best for you down the road, and wishing you good luck in the future. I changed my message but still sending prayers.
