Something I'd like to say to add to this song: in TEN WHOLE YEARS of war with the Trojans, this fight is the FIRST TIME that Odysseus has lost men, and the first man he lost after a flawless 10-year streak was his best friend.
I was just coming to say this.

You mentioned you recognized it but didn’t know from where, but it’s actually the same song structure as Zeus’s part in The Horse and the Infant, which is pretty cool :)

Polites (the guy with glasses) is around the same age as Odysseus because they are childhood friends and he was also in the war for 10 year with everyone else.
Another important thing to remember here is that Odessyeus hasnt lost one of his men in 10 YEARS! He famously achieved the impossible and helped fight a war with 600 of his men without a single loss on his part. This is the first time he's seen any of his men die, and one of them has a childhood friend
Mircsy (Merchee) goes hard with their fight scenes. Absolutely incredible. Them and Wolfy absolutely popped off in this saga.
Something to point out is how everyone has glowing white eyes except Polites. When you see shots of his eyes they’re completely normal. It’s like his glasses are reflecting the glowing white effect, showing he’s there with the front of a soldier, but beneath it, he’s, and I have to say it, just a man.
You mention the “boss fight” vibes and the anime vibes; Jorge loves video games and anime and the anime imagery and homages to video game music is NOT a coincidence. You might notice in some of the animatics Eurolychus (Ody’s second in command/the tallest main guy) has a giant sword which is apparently a direct reference to Cloud’s sword in Final Fantasy (and is canon according to Jorge!) 😂

Polites dropped his sword because he refused to fight, and went to go save the Lotus Eater. "Greet the world with open arms," and all that. Odysseus seems to just normally carry two swords in some animatics, cuz in both this one and in Gigi's Horse and the Infant animatic, he uses them to climb one of the city's walls, and in this one, he uses it to climb up the wall of the cave to find a ledge to jump for his spinning attack. In actuality, it's more or less just a rule of cool thing, cuz there is no real direction given to the people making these animatics aside from a few handfuls of action text Jorge puts into his livestream debuts of the sagas.
Well considering the sheep was his only friends cause he was considered the runt/baby of the other cyclops and was constantly bullied ,Plus if someone broke into my home killed my pet/friend and try insult that giving me wine solves everything I would be mad to.

Zeus in the Horse and the Infant sang “a vision of what is to come, cannot be outrun, can only be dealt with right here and now.” Which is the same tune as “my brothers, the rest of our fleet, they wait at the beach and were defeated they’re good as dead.”
What we call the “survive” motif since Odysseus’s family’s survival depends on killing the infant, and Odysseus’s soldiers’ survival depends on killing the Cyclops.
