yessss you're doing the animatics! Although I still loved it when you guys reacted to the music alone, I won't lie, a lot of the songs hit a LOT harder when you have visuals to go along with it. ESPECIALLY during the Cyclops Saga
The reason the end cut of so sharply is because it leads directly onto survive, which also starts very abruptly. Also, the creator of this animatic based their cyclops design off its father (I won't say in case you don't know) but certain features of the design resembles aspects of the father.
'made the captain look taller' jsyk Eurylochus is the tallest in that screenshot, with the scar and broadsword, the second in command. Polites is in the glasses and headband. The other with the fluffy hair is Odysseus (forgetting the captain's name in a show of the Odyssey is so funny to me, heh). Also regarding Odysseus greeting the cyclops you gotta remember Odysseus's defining trait is he's smart and can talk his way out of any situation. He's a warrior of the mind, not a brute who goes into everything sword first.
As much as I love this entire show, my only issue is the line "Why would the lotus eaters pas sup on all this food?" as if Odysseus doesn't know that the Lotus eaters only eat the lotus fruit. Also, Polyphemus is an incredibly young Cyclops. He's basically a little kid of the cyclops world.
Omg you are not ready for the next song. I personally enjoy the animatics. They have done great as they use not only what jorge has told them but also the book itself. In fact i think from the circe saga onwards there are animatics that jorge comminssioned. Jorge has said he would love epic to be done in 2 ways, one as a full animated film and the other the stage show. I think with the technology we have the creatures and gods could be well done. When people talk of puppets one of the best ive seen in real life is the war horse puppet.
The thing is Polyphemus is a young cyclops which he was bullied for so his father gave him the sheep and the sheep became his only friends and which Odysseus killed then compared the worth of his friend to the worth of wine so yeah Polyphemus was offended
“Take from you like you took from me” Polyphemus was only going to kill Odysseus and spare the rest **Odysseus compared his sheep’s worth to the the worth of wine** “You shall be the final man to die” Okay now Polyphemus decides that now everyone will die and make Odysseus watch before killing him last
Which, and this needs to be stated, he still considers a kindness. In his mind, showing him mercy for so long is a reward of sorts. Otherwise, he'd be as Ruthless as his father is and just kill them all as soon as he finished drinking.
@@area52ron I saw someone talking about him being described as shorter than Agamemnon, himself described as short but it was too long ago when I read the Odyssey so I didn't remember if it was true
Amazing and insightful as always!! If I may suggest something, I'd really recommend watching some animatics of the Troy Saga before you continue on onto the Ocean Saga. It don't even have to be as a reaction video, you can just do it on your own if you'd prefer, as the later animatics have some pretty universally agreed upon things that are not present in the music itself, but are in the animatic canon, and were introduced by the most popular Troy Saga animatics. So knowing the origin of those things would, I believe, improve your viewing experience at least somewhat. Hope it helps, and all the love to yall! 💜
That’s great u guys are checking out the animatics but can you guys at least give the new audio a view on your own time to support jorge cause the old audio isn’t apart of epic since the company that supported him during the first 2 or 3 sagas didn’t pay him a penny so he made his own company also love all the reactions you both are doing great
Love the old version but i will say the cyclops, to me at least, sounds alot better and ‘scary/imposing’ in the newer version so definitely recommend giving those a listen as well if you don’t plan to already
So glad i'm not the only one who felt bad for the cyclops when he's like 'my favourite sheep 😔'. You came into his house and killed his pet' YES, that's exactly what they did, and bc of evidence in later songs fans have theorized that this is a particularly young cyclops too :/ but yeah, my sympathy won't last haha.
While I love the animatics I personally enjoy you guy listening to the audio only, since that way you form your own mental image in your head of the events instead of following the animators bias, animatics are not canon only those in the official livestreams commissioned by Jorge are canon to the creators intent sadly those are only can be watched during new albums releases.
I liked the fact you were doing the audio Only, everyone does animatic.... But the thing is The Animatics create a conception that may or may not be accurate since most are Fanmade with fan interpretations... I would recomend doing the songs only first so you can imagine yourself and use the music as your guide and then do Animatics for the same songs to see what people interpretated. But since you are going to do Animatics at least understand they are fanmade and don't take them as the truth.
The creator endorses the animations. The problem for them is they don't have enough background info or context on the odyssey to know what's happening from audio alone. They constantly had to guess and where wrong alot.
This was the original plan, but we ended up with the large majority of the comments just telling us to do the animatics because they would provide us more context, so we changed the plan to please most of the comments :)
@@dj_410 Well, I don't know how you Schedule or use your time but What about doing The Song and right after the Animatic? If you are able to of course, if but well, is what it is
@@christianr1517 Jorge endorses them but that doesn't mean they're accurate. Each one is only an interpretation and many of them go in some direction that doesn't actually match the song. @dj_410 - they can provide "context", but the problem is a lot of the animatics will provide an incorrect context. One example I can think of would be the fact that there are no animatics for the final song of the Storm saga which depict the creatures who provide the backing vocals. Most versions of the penultimate song of the saga after that don't accurately depict when a particular thing happens (which the music alone would clue you in on better). The second-to-last song of the saga after that usually has animators show a drawing of Polites, when the thing being mentioned has nothing to do with him. Etc. I've seen plenty of people react to the animatics and wind up even MORE mixed up and wrong than they would've been going purely by the lyrics.
Aaaagh. I'm very disappointed that you started using the animatics. That'll cloud your judgement when interpreting the music. None of them are canonical to the music, only individual interpretations (and oftentimes end up being incorrect based on later information we get confirmed via stage directions or word of god) EDIT: Also for this and the previous saga, this means you'll be accidentally listening to older versions of the songs. If you use the wrong animatics later on, you'll also end up with incomplete or outdated versions of the songs, too
Honestly the animatics r what made epic even more popular, while yes individual interpretations, I think specifically for this channel, the animatics r better for them. Bc they were not getting any story or idea of what was going on before LMAO Also I want it to be known that alot of animatics while may not be completely accurate r still pretty accurate to what Jorge envisioned and he has said so himself, not to mention for alot of the songs until recently where he started commissioning animatics for teasers etc didn’t have set ideas for visuals either way
I'm actually really sad you guys are watching the animatics. I thought it was really interesting and fresh to see someone interpret the story in their own way based on what Jorge gave them and not what the animatic creator interpreted the story as.
@AHorrorFanatic yeah the cyclops saga ones are okay. My main issue is the new versions of the Troy saga, because i honestly actively dislike them. Mainly because it just genuinely sounds worst to me.
