    The major differences between this two interfaces is the focusrite gives up to 200 ohms and id4 gives 600 ohms. So if you have a 250 ohm headphone like beyerdynamics 770 pro 250 ohm, then id4 is much better option. 1 more difference is in id4 you can connect 2 headphones but focusrite have only one headphone output.

    Audient has the same preamps from their $1000+ line so its definitely a winner. I just bought the Audient id14 M2, waiting for it in the mail.

    Id4 II is right up there with Clarett 2pre not to be compared to solo or 2i2. I am sorry same IO numbers do not equal to the same sound quality.

    @lngsrp4612 2 года назад +7

    Bought the ID4 to replace a fried Scarlett Solo, largely based on this review. No comparison. Much better sound quality, no feedback when playing guitar in front of my monitors and most importantly, no bleed over from other tracks onto guitar tracks recorded using the I$4. Both of these were major issues with the Scarlett Solo. I prefer the volume knob on the Scarlett, but the button to kill the monitors on the ID4 is really useful.

    • @naufrago7676

      Hi ! How is it going with the ID4 so far? I used to have the focusrite solo 3, as a guitar player. But now I'm thinking about the audient, is it a better choice from your experience with your guitar/music??

    • @lngsrp4612
      @lngsrp4612 2 года назад +2

      @@naufrago7676 It is fantastic. Four things come to mind--
      1) Sound quality is better. Guitars sounded fizzy and flat through the Scarlett. They sound much clearer and more articulated through the ID4. More dynamics. My bass sounds amazing.
      2) There is a knob that adjusts the volume of the raw guitar signal coming through the headphones or monitors. The Scarlett did not have this-- it was either on or off, IIRC, and I had to slide the headphones off slightly to hear my guitar while monitoring the existing track.
      3) There is a button to turn off monitors and have the output through the headphones only. You have to manually turn down the volume or shut off the monitors with the Scarlett. If they are mounted on a wall, or otherwise away from your workspace, that's a pain.
      4) Most importantly--I was getting bleed through from prior tracks onto my new tracks. If I had a guitar part that I used for a breakdown (no drums or bass), I could hear the drums that had recorded onto the new track. The ID4 has none of that nonsense.
      If I think of anything else, I will add it. If someone can correct me on any of this, please feel free to do so.

      @@lngsrp4612 Awesome! Thanks for your comment. I'll really get one of these. Do you think getting the ID14 mkii is a good deal or not really necessary? What would be the advantages compared to the ID4? Sorry for these questions, I'm quite new to audio interfaces

      @@naufrago7676 the only thing I can tell you is that whatever added functionality the 14 gave was not worth it to me or was something I didn't need at all. May have just been additional inputs but I don't remember for certain.

      Edward Smith has recommended the iD4 MKII over the Solo 4th Gen. I’ve used a 2nd Gen, but owning an iD4 MKII, I can’t see myself using any other interface. If you are a guitarist go with TASCAM 4*4HR or TASCAM celesonics 20*20HR. HR has sample rate of 192 khz and have USB 3.0 port. Hence data transfer increases by 10 times. For sound quality review watch Thorne,s TOP 10 AUDIO INTERFACES video. You will find TASCAM sounding on the top. Audient, Scarlet, M audio, pre- sonus, Steinberg interfaces are not meant for guitar, drumset recording. Guitar needs additional preamps for these interfaces. TASCAM don't require any extra/ extended preamp and that's true. So due to these reason you will find distortion in above said interfaces excluding TASCAM. TASCAM produce solid, crystal clear sound at all ends. OK dear
