I wonder why almost no one picks up on angle sensitivity. It’s the only stylus having this feature, to my knowledge. (Update: some Wacom styluses do also have it) I don’t mean tilt sensitivity (Altitude angle) but actual sensing of the direction, the tip is placed on screen. (Azimuth Angle) It makes such a big difference when using a pencil or wide marker for example.

Ok boy let me tell you a story. (I hate it when people pit IOS against Android, both have strengths and weaknesses ok I’m also Indian) Look so basically what your talking about is the Note Series of phones and your right it comes in the box but the thing is the Note phones cost more then the normal phones. Also Samsung is did do some sly marketing with the note phones. Note 20 Ultra, right beside on the website, was the regular Note 20 which had no expandable storage, was made of plastic and was arguably a lower speck than their own Exynos phones. The regular Note 20 was just their to make the Ultra phone look good and reasonable for its asking price. See both companies have their wrongdoings I could say that this incident was purely aimed at maximising Samsung’s profits. Plain and simple. Also the Apple Pencil is for the Ipad primarily and is for professionals who are doing CAD and are in the Design industry or its an artist. Apple has a history of charging an exorbitant amount of money for its accessories:
    Mac Pro Wheels $400
    Apple Pro Stand $1,000
    Apple polishing cloth $25
    Apple Homepad $449
    Magic Keyboard $300
Based on consumers response, they know they can charge whatever they want for an Apple Pencil. There are 3rd party alternatives out there that cost half or less than half of what Apple Charges.

The Apple Pencil is more than a stylus. You can use up it to scribble in text fields, draw in Notes or other 3rd party apps, quickly change the color (depending on the model), and it works like a normal touch, except it also allows for navigating menus, Quick Notes, and the device knows the difference between an Apple Pencil touch and a finger touch. It is amazing technology.

please stop they're not pressure sensitive at all. in comparison to the cheapest wacom stylus, the apple pencil's levels of pressure sensitivity is incredibly disappointing. They're not thin at all, they're weighted and bothersome to use, 1st gen was awful, 2nd is _okay_ at best. The touch controls are annoying. The "lack of latency" is the bare minimum. Also ... having a battery on it's own is exhausting lol.
i've used the apple pencil from release to now for quick sketch jobs because it's lack of sensitivity is the biggest handicap on my work. for years now I could never sell anything that I do with an ipad vs a wacom tablet, purely because of sensitivity of the pen that affects artwork so much, especially digital painting.

Fun-Fact: The thing charges so fast because it doesn't use a battery. It simply uses a special kind of capacitor, that can store very high amounts of energy.
I still think that the Apple Pencil is kinda a weird design, considering that they use bluetooth which is really not necessary considering that you can just modulate the data onto the signal that the tip sends, just like basically every other stylus does. That would also mean that its battery (well, not really a bettery, yes) wouldn't last just half a day but instead weeks, as many other styluses do...
So yes, it works good and stuff, but its a weird design, and its overpriced...
Also simplyfing the design would make it even cheaper

It has a button on the side, godly battery life, and air commands. This so allows for remote pictures. It also has tilt detection. Still not as fancy looking as the Apple Pencil, but it does have some cool features. The main reason companies make the pens and "pencils" come at a cost is profit. The price to make is probably $15 or cheaper. This makes sense though because they have to pay the engineers to collaborate and design the product.

Then why does Samsung have the same features and give it for free in the box with almost every tablet they sell. And also if you lose the pen it just costs 30 to 40 $ for a new one. This is not hate on apple, because I recently bought the iPad pro 2020 12.9 with an apple pencil but you should really inform yourself before making a video like this. And its not some magic they used on making it thin, the Samsung s pen is waaaaaay thinner and feels more like a actual pen. I know that, because I had an Samsung tab for a while now. The only reason why I bought an apple iPad is that it has Procreate the drawing app, because I'm an artist. C'mon a bit more effort...

    • @adtc
      @adtc 2 года назад

Nothing is free. You paid for the SPen in the cost of device it was included with. It makes sense for Samsung because those devices are designed and marketed for use with the SPen. If you didn't need a stylus, Samsung has other devices that don't have one (and probably won't work with one). They wouldn't include the cost of an SPen in their price.
On the other hand, with Apple, there's only ONE iPad. Not everyone who purchases an iPad uses it for drawing, sketching and the things one can do with Pencil. Many use an iPad for tasks that are perfectly doable with just their fleshy fingers, and they'd never need a Pencil ever. It makes total sense for Apple to sell the Pencil to only those who need it and want it, because if they included it with every iPad for "free" then the price of iPads would automatically go up by at least a hundred dollars, AND it generates a ton of e-waste because now they're giving Pencil to people who would just stash the Pencil inside a drawer and forget about it for years because the iPad is just easier to use with their fingers.
As a product designer, you need to understand the target market of your products before you can correctly decide whether to include an accessory in the box or make it an optional purchase. As a consumer, you need to understand the impact the wrong decision will have on the global scale, and not focus on the minor inconvenience you'll personally have because of the correct decision.
