  • The iOS vs Android debate has been ongoing ever since the platforms were created over a decade ago. And since this channel is called Apple Explained and I love Apple products we’re going to talk about why iOS is better than Android. But I do want to preface this entire video by saying I don’t hate Android, I truly believe both platforms have their own strengths and weaknesses. And the decision regarding which one is best for you, is your decision to make. Everyone’s smartphone needs are different. And therefore no one can say that one platform is objectively better than the other, but I do think it’s fair to point out the specific strengths that iOS has over Android. And don’t worry Android fans I will release a video titled “Why Android Is Better than iOS,” it’s just not going this video. So please still leave a like, and please still subscribe with the bell notification to be notified when that Android video is released.

As an android user for many years the fact that all of apples devices link to each other so easily is something i have always been jealous of . That and how easy facetime is to use.

      That's like saying:
      1. All of Samsung devices link to each other so easily
      2. All of LG devices link to each other so easily
      3. All of Sony devices link to each other so easily
      4. All of Motorola devices link to each other so easily
Apple is not special in any way, in fact Apple is incompatible with all those previous devices mentioned, while they are all mostly compatible with each other outside the Apple egosystem.
And ALL messaging apps with videocalling functionality works with ALL devices including Apples!
Whereas Facetime works ONLY with Apple devices.

@@eastlondonhustler Jesus you’re persistent eh? Lmao you resort to calling him a sheep when your opinion wasn’t supported with good evidence. You also have to know that android is an open software with big fragmentations. And iOS is a private software which again makes it more premium since it’s not as easy to break out of such as harmony OS from huawei. Like he said in the video, the iPhone SE is much much powerful than the s20 ultra. I’ve had a Galaxy a6 and used Android For 2 years and it was way more difficult than what I use now which is the iPhone SE again it’s all about preference but in spec wise, iOS would be a better long term plan. And again addressed in the video, when apple haters call us sheep just because we stay in one company and loyal to it, and you don’t really know that the phone companies such as Samsung and Oppo want to go down the same path that apple does and want to do the same thing that apple does, to have the big fanbase that we have. On the contrary, I’m considered an essential worker in these troubled times, so I appreciate the reliability of iOS devices and their ease of use. In addition to that, Apple does not sell my private information, including location, to advertisers the way that Google does. I tend to prefer Apple’s focus on retaining my privacy and I don’t mind paying more for a device where privacy considerations are built in to the OS itself. My iPhone doesn’t “work for them,” as Apple does not have access to the device itself and much of it is encrypted by Apple themselves in such a way as to render the device inaccessible to all but the most determined law enforcement agencies.

I’ve used both Android and iPhone over the years and I always come back to iPhone because of how convenient and simple it is to use. FaceTime alone is amazing for visiting with family members who live in different states. I tried to get myself into the whole Android customization aspect of it, but I’ve always been a simple kinda guy and having a phone with seamless operating system is what made me switch for to iPhone for good. The ecosystem of Apple is out of this world good, with having my AirPods, iPad and Apple Watch all connected without missing a beat. Sure, Apple has had some hiccups, but I applaud them for what they have come to be today. Bravo Apple :)

I have both iOS and Android, and I honestly find Android interface a lot easier (but really a lot easier) than iOS. The other point you make is that there are many more apps for iOS, which is true, but this point does not really affect the every-day user experience (considering there are thousands of apps for Android as well), so I wouldn't claim it as one of the pros. On the other hand, it is well known that iOS require less CPU than Android (same for mac vs a windows laptop), but again, are we talking about something you can actually notice? I have a mid range android phone (OnePlus) and the latest iPad and, honestly, there's no difference in everyday use (but frankly speaking, I find my phone quicker than my iPad). On the Sync part, I 100% agree that Apple integrating system between various devices is by far the best, even if with Google backups and Google Drive, nowadays it is quite easy to sync files and apps between non-Apple devices. But on this point, it's an easy win for Apple/iOS.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy my iPad a lot and I think it's fantastic, but for an everyday use in my opinion Android is a better system allowing you to do a lot more stuff if you want to, or simply use it if you are a non-tech person (basically Android can do everything iOS does, but can also do something more and in an easier way).
Also, I'm not a fan-boy or one or the other, I frankly don't care haha....I simply use whatever I find easier and better, and in my case I use both systems

Even though I'm a long time iPhone user, I've never really experienced the whole Apple Ecosystem thing until last year when I got a Macbook for work. The seamless syncing of my (then) i7+ and my MBP made working more productive. I also bought the Airpods 2nd Gen after 4 months because I was frustrated over the fact that I have to manually connect and then disconnect my Baseus TWS whenever I wanna switch to listening/watching videos on my Macbook. Now, even though the process of switching from iPhone to Macbook isn't perfectly seamless (since there are still bugs w/ the process imo), it's still a better experience since I don't have to go to settings and manually disconnect from my iPhone/Macbook when I want to use one or the other. Hate it or not, the Apple Ecosystem, really is a game changer.

Ohhh, the custom skins between brands and models drive me up he wall!
I’m a iPhone user, but have a friend who has an Android and they’re not so tech-savvy, so I had to do a lot for them/show them how. And it’s like every Android is a whole new learning experience.
I’ll be messing around, confused, trying to figure out where everything is every single time.
Also, stuff is really hard to find on Android, to be honest. First off, there are SO MANY present apps and are hidden in subfolders and windows and it’s just nuts. It always takes me a few mins to locate the settings, then more time just to figure out where anything is in the settings.
Like, as you can seein your photos of the three android phones, the settings is not on the home screen. On any of them.
It’s also very frustrating to me to have the browser’s search bar on the homescreen. It’s not actually a problem for ME, but the resulting conversations I’ve had to have because of it.
    “WhatsApp doesn’t work. I can’t send anything.”
    Me: “Are you online?”
    Them: “What?”
    Me: “Do you have internet?”
Them: “Oh, yes! Here it is.” And they tap or point to the search bar.
Me: No. That isn’t what I mean.”
Also having another conversation about that when I ask them about their browser or tell them to open it, and they have no clue what I’m talking about.
Yes, I deal with a few extremely tech un-savvy people. From seniors to… I hate to say it, but to women who have no clue either.
I live in Germany and Android is the most popular here. Out of all the people I know here, only three are iPhone users. Everyone else, across the board, is an Android user.

    *Adding to what you've said:*
    1. Apple takes way less personal data from you vs google, and allows you to delete all of your data from apple directly. The same app also tracks you way less vs on android.
    2. The app store is also way more secure than google's play store because it has a more rigorous filtering/application system.
    3. iPhones in general are also more secure because there's a higher adoption rate of the latest software/security, and because more devices are able to adopt the newest software/security.
    4. Malware also target android devices more for the same reasons. Because most android devices aren't up to date to the newest software/security (as a result of limited software support and adoption rate), it results in more efficient/high success of spread; and because there are way more android phones than iPhones in general, it's also more efficient (more "worth") for the host to spread to more devices at the same time, while having a higher success rate as well due to the lack of software and security updates/adoption, and inferior app filtering.
    5. Apple also roles out software updates for bugs/issues way faster than android, usually within a week or two, which means less vulnerability.
    6. iPhones have higher resale value, so you actually save more in the long-run with an iPhone.

Glen Joseph That still doesn’t solve the issue with android as whole. Still poor software support, worse app screening, higher target rate for malware, and lets be real here, even though both companies claim to wipe out all your data they’ll still keep some; the difference is that Apple respects their users enough to actually limit tracking rate when you “turn it off”, whereas it’s very well documented that google steals much more data even when the phone is turned off. Your point still doesn’t explain the main issues with android.

I am the rare Apple user who left for a few years and eventually came back. In my experience, Android works well enough, but it is just not as polished as iOS. That lack of polish is not a huge deal, but it generates little inconveniences in places. And what surprised me most coming from Apple was that the stuff I found most annoying was in the very basic features of the phone, not anything remotely complex or advanced. Why are Bluetooth connections miles more stable and reliable in iOS? With an iPhone, whenever I get into my car, it just clicks in 100% of the time. With Android, that was more like 80%. I probably touched that bluetooth connection menu in Android a thousand times trying to get something I'd already paired to the device to connect. Why do my text messages sometimes get inexplicably delayed or even occasionally not received at all? Why can't I easily integrate multiple email addresses from different providers into one application and have it work reliably all the time? None of those are cutting edge features, but they all matter a great deal to users because they use them every day.
iOS is hardly perfect, Why can't I have an always on display if I want it and find it useful? Why can't I have a model with a headphone jack if it matters to me? Why isn't there a calculator built into the iPad? But when you weigh the crap you have to put up with in Apple's ecosystem vs. Android's, Apple is just much smoother and less of a hassle.

I haven’t had any issues since I switched from Android except that I lost all my WhatsApp chat because WhatsApp is absolutely trash that for some god forsaken reason doesn’t allow users to migrate their chats.
My minor complaint is that most 3rd party apps still use this horrible old tritone ringtone because the notification tone that you set from the settings app does not apply to all the apps. It only applies to messages or mail app. It’s so stupid and I can’t understand why Apple hasn’t changed it or at least given users a default option from the settings app to change tones for specific apps

The "lack of customization" isn't a flaw. It's a deliberate decision. And it goes back a very, very long way. Every Apple computer had very little things you could do to change the Mac OS. The reason is for user familiarity. Anyone that has used one, can use any other machine. Unlike Windows (let's not even talk about the millions of desktop environments on Linux!). The same thing holds true with iOS. They want anyone that has used an iPhone (or iPad or Apple TV, etc. for that matter) to be able to use any other iPhone or iPad or Apple TV or iPod, etc.
It's interesting to hear Windows fans and Android fans talk about 'features' that are 'lacking' from Apple products as if Apple is too dumb or something to include them. They just aren't getting the different set of priorities. I have used them all and I keep coming back to Mac OS and iOS (et al) because they do what I need them to do without having to be tinkered with. At this point, I just want things to work.

    • @seeranos
      @seeranos Год назад

@@caoimhin7122 I never stated whether Apple was making a deliberate choice or not. I know they are. It simply is not a choice I enjoy, as someone who does not fully buy in to the Apple ecosystem.
I'm not trying to tell Apple what to do, I'm just commenting on my interests as a consumer and what is the thing which will likely drive me away from apple devices in the end.
Whether something is a flaw or not is subjective, unless it's actively harming people. What Apple chooses to do doesn't match my wants, and so for my uses it is a flaw.

Android can be used to bring smart functionalities to other devices besides just smartphones, tablets and laptops. But with so many different companies using Android leads to massive fragmentation since companies want their devices to be the best, so they can make the largest profit. They want their version to be the first Android device that people first think about.

Switched last year at the age of 25 out of boredom, curiosity and job requirement got my first iphone, the 12 mini and I have to say that coming from 5+ years of android it is indeed the user experience that makes a huge difference between the two and what I mean by this is the smoothness of the animations, no laggy stuff in terms of ui / ux, apps open right away, great performance and overall it just gives the impression that you waste less time when you're using an iphone in contrast to an android and this still applies even today.
From my pov it's all about the os, because let's say hypothetically the latest Galaxy has even better hardware than the latest iphone, the android os doesn't cater as well as ios does to iphone because android isn't optimized for a specific device / hardware therefore they are trying to supply a overall good experience for all phones whom use android and apple is focusing only on one phone. Makes sense why iphone / ios is better ?

The s9 speakers blow the s22 ultra out of the water. Why? Like seriously. That's so yucky. Apple wouldn't do it dirty like that. Companies releasing their products in each category has nothing to do with trying to lock consumers in their own ecosystem. Apple literally locks features for other companies devices if Apple is a competitor. For example, Apple has Apple TV, which you can cast your phone screen to, but you can't cast your phone screen to chromecast, you can just cast within apps that has casting capabilities. You can't properly use an apple watch with an android device, yet you can use whichever android watch regardless of the brand of phone you are using. Yes, companies would like you to purchase their products instead of their competitors even if they both use the same OS, but they don't lock you out of majority of its features, just the ones that they geniunely cannot get to work because its a brand specific feature.

As a current Pixel user and a former Samsung user, I agree with some of the points. But ease of use, I don't agree, for one because of the Always On Display on my pixel, by just looking at my phone I get the time, date, weather and battery percentage without opening the phone. Also when open the phone the Google search bar widget is right there to quickly search if I need to, swiping to my right I get the Google News Feed, swipe up on the Home Page I get the App Draw, very easy. Also looking at my notifications with the icons at the top, also very easy and convenient. Google Assistant on the pixel make so many functions easily and readily available. So that notion that it's more complicated on Android, maybe in the past but not now.

Im also on an Android from huawei and I feel that huawei is the best at integrating devices and making them work in their ecosystem in the Android side but now with the ban and loss of the Google apps I feel it's hopeless. So in the last few weeks, because I want to upgrade, I thought really hard on switching to iOS and buying an iPhone 7 / 8 / SE 2 and Im really determinated to switch when seeing soooooo many people also switching to iOS and having a great experience =)

I switched to ios this year and I don't see myself going back to Android, not because it's a bad OS, just feels like ios feels more suited to me for my everyday use, and different people can have different needs of their choice of OS accordingly

As a lover of Apple, who rarely uses Android, I can confirm the iced coffee does indeed possess a lowe temprature.
