    This series of videos aims to fill a gap: to tell you which devices are capable to create a podcast with 1-2-3…-8 people present and 1, 2, 3 or even 4 people interviewed over the phone or a VoIP solution like Skype or Zoom.
    This is the first video of the series, which explains some basics that you need to conduct phone interviews: what is „mix-minus“ (which makes sure that the podcasts guests on the phone hear you but they don’t hear a feedback of their voice as an echo while speaking) - and how to set it up using the iRig2 guitar adapter.

    DUDE! You're video is so far ahead of any other iRig 2 to mixer video! The line diagram as well as narration of how and why is fantastic! And you're the only one who advocates for using the amp FX out of the iRig 2 and I'm going to try that after commenting on this. Thank you.

    I used to connect my Keyboard & microphone to the mixer & need to go for facebook live. As per your connectivity the sound comes to the phone is mono. Not stereo right?
    To prevent this issue can i use (spliter) 2x 6.5mm & 1 x 6.5 mm
    Connect 2x 6.5mm to Monitor out jacks of the mixer & 1 x 6.5mm to irig2?

    Great Video. I'm new to all this and want to try your method as it seems to be the cleanest presentation on how to use the Irig2 with a Mobile Phone. However, I have a Alesis multimix4 that has no Aux Send input; the only inputs I have apart from Mic1&2 are Lin 3/4 (l/r) & Main Out (l/r), 3.5 ext in and HeadPhone jack. Accordingly, it doesn't have Aux knobs but instead it has FX knobs. Would you be able to suggest a Alesis MultiMix4 configuration that would work with the Irig2?

    • @PodcastMeister
      @PodcastMeister  2 года назад

      Hi, thanks, glad you liked it! Unfortunately the Alesis Multimix 4 does not have an FX out/FX Send port either, the FX knobs seem to only control the onboard, built-in effects, therefore I’m afraid there’s no way to make it work. You’d have to get another mixer or interface for this purpose. I can recommend you some options but I would need to know your goal: do you need 2 mic inputs or is it only you being present? Do you want to involve one remote guest or more? You may want to check out some of the other tutorials on this channel btw, those list your device options for recording 1-2-3 or 4 people present + up to 4 remote guests.

    I have a quick question- how did you do that 2D mixing diagram effect that rotates 90 degrees to show 3D levels of the diagram around 3:48-3:50? Excellent effect!
    Thank you so much for taking the time to explain this so well.

      Hi Andrew, thanks! The entire animation was done with Apple Keynote - this is also a built-in slide transition effect. Can‘t remember what it is called but I‘ll find it for you.

    • @PodcastMeister
      @PodcastMeister  3 года назад

      Andrew, the slide transition in Keynote is called „Colour Planes“ and you can access it by clicking outside the slide (not selecting any element on it) and go to „Animate“ on the top right and it is under the group of effects that is called „Flip, Spin & Scale“.

    used to work perfect when using OBS however when I replaced it with streamyard to do the streaming I do get the feedback, nor Igri 1 or 2 works on this... :( I'm using a behringer xenyx x2222usb with a M-Audio Mtrack 2x2 and getting the irig to the pc for zoom calls not the phone... any pointers will be appreciated thanks! Hi from Utah USA

    • @PodcastMeister
      @PodcastMeister  2 года назад +1

      iRig1 has no amp output, so that would not work anyway. Did you switch the Thru/FX switch to FX? On the other hand, since the Xenyx2222 has USB, you may also try to route the PC from its headphone output into one of the line input channels on the mixer (1/8” stereo to dual TS 1/4” mono audio cable) and exclude that channel from the main mix (so effectively from the mix that goes back through the computer from the mixers USB) and utilize the Sub-Group with the Sub-out for yourself to hear everything (push both the ”sub” and the “main” button for each channel at the faders but for the channel where you have routed in the PC from: for that channel only push the “sub” so that you can hear it through the sub-outputs, but it does not get mixed into the main mix) I’m not using Streamyard though, so can’t test it. But if you are using the same PC for the Zoom call and for the streaming, that might be an issue. Worst case you can use a phone for zoom and the PC for streaming, that may be a safer bet.

    please tell me where to connect .

    • @PodcastMeister
      @PodcastMeister  3 года назад +1

      Hi, it’s the same thing, sometimes the call it AUX OUT, sometimes AUX SEND, depending on the manufacturer of the mixer. You can go out from there into the iRig2. The important thing is that you have an AUX dial for each channel, so you can turn the one down, that you don’t need to be sent back to the guest - but if you have an AUX SEND, you most probably also have AUX dials to regulate what is sent there.

    Great resource! Would you have any idea of how to use the zoom podtrak and irig2 to play music into the clubhouse app through your phone?

    • @PodcastMeister
      @PodcastMeister  3 года назад +1

      Theoretically, if you connect your phone through a simple 3.5mm (1/8”) TRRS (!) audio cable to the phone port on the right side of the Zoom Podtrak P4 (and switch channel 3 to the phone icon), then whatever sound comes into the Podtrak P4 will be routed back into the phone - except for the sounds that come from the phone itself (mix-minus). So you will just need to connect another sound source (ie another smart device or computer) through usb-c to the Podtrak P4, switch channel 4 to the USB-icon and then the Podtrak P4 routes that sound coming out of that second sound source into the phone. You don’t need to use the iRig 2.
      Now this is the idea for the phone calls - whether it works with the Clubhouse App, I don’t know (as I don’t have it) but in theory it should, as it works with any other app as well (ie Skype, Zoom, Facetime, Signal, Whatsapp, etc) so I don’t see why it wouldn’t work with Clubhouse. Let me know if it worked!

    • @PodcastMeister
      @PodcastMeister  3 года назад +1

      ...if you also want to talk into the app beside playing music into it, then take a microphone with an XLR-port, plug it into Channel 1 or 2 on the Podtrak P4 and then your voice will be routed into the app too. (Just pay attention to switch on phantom power - the lightning-icon - if you are using a condenser microphone. If you are using a dynamic microphone the you don’t need phantom power)

    • @WePlugGOODMusic
      @WePlugGOODMusic 3 года назад

      @@PodcastMeister thank you, I did try this but it didn't work. Apparently to play music on clubhouse, you have to definitely use the irig2 somewhere in that set up. I thought the way you explained it above would work but it didn't unfortunately so using the above set up, for channel 3 (phone to p4), if we wanted to get the irig2 involves, would we need a 6.5mm to 3.5mm cable to connect the irig2 to the p4? What do you think if that might be the solution?

      Hi Steffen and thanks for subscribing! Not sure what you are aiming to achieve with this setup. Do you want to just record your computers entire system output to a phone? What exactly? Ie a Zoom-conversation? To which app are you going to record?

    • @PodcastMeister
      @PodcastMeister  2 года назад

      …meanwhile I have quickly tested if you can record the headphone out port of your computer (with a TRRS to TRRS cable and also with Røde‘s TRS to TRS + TRS female to TRRS male converter + Apple‘s genuine 3.5mm to lightning dongle) and it did not work for me either way. I will test with the iRig2 as well and get back to you.

    • @PodcastMeister
      @PodcastMeister  2 года назад

      None of them do, the mix-minus is set up by the mixer. :) Jokes aside, theoretically it can do the same, as it has the thru/fx switch and the amplifier output, but the phone interface is micro usb and it costs more than double the price. For voice, I would not consider it vs the iRig2.
