Also, it took Billy's skull as a trophy because he was brave. It ripping his skull/spine out was a sign of respect, and it kept the trophy because he was a worthy opponent (he actually whoops the Predator's ass pretty hard before getting killed in the comic). The Yautja (Predator species) hunt humans frequently because they see us as their peers, because we can frequently outsmart them. They consider humans some of their most dangerous prey, and collecting a human skull is a huge honor to them (I read way too many comics and books). It imitated Billy's laugh to frighten Arnold into fleeing. He knew he had been defeated, and respected Arnie enough to give him fair warning before detonating himself. He didn't want him to die in the blast.

    • @avtomatt554
      @avtomatt554 Год назад +4

@@charzanboo9940 It kinda hints at it in this movie they make a point of noting that it will not attack anything that's unarmed/cannot defend itself. Connoting killing something defenseless is dishonorable, and that dying in mortal combat with a great/more clever opponent is not necessarily humiliating. But as Rodney Payne said in this thread, the comics and books (and even the movies) extrapolate on this. The bit about the Predator actually warning Dutch to run, I cannot remember if it's in the comics, or just a theory I read (I read a lot of the comics from Dark Horse and a few of the books when I was a kid in the 90's). So take that with a grain of salt.

Billy, cut himself for several reasons.
    1) As a Native American, it would have been viewed in some cultures as a sign of a "brave warrior" due to not being afraid of pain or blood.
    2) As "prey", he would have cut himself to deny the Predator the "honor" of taking his skin intact, or ruining the Predator's trophy. (See a bit later on)
    3) As a "warrior", cutting himself BEFORE the fight started showed the Predator that "first blood" was no longer a "bragging right". The fight would be to the death, Billy's or Predator's. And as such, the Predator saw Billy as a far more VALUABLE prey to hunt because he was willing to turn to fight him one-on-one.
Which is why after the fight, the Predator took Billy's skull as a trophy. Which was HIGHLY respected and honorable prey worthy of a hunt ... in Predator society. (Something expanded and explained in other media sources such as books and comics)

    YES!!!
MY #1 FAVORITE ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER MOVIE!!
Facts you didn't know about the movie: Jean Claude van Damme played the Predator in some parts of the movie, but quit production as he was wearing the original suit, which looked like a lizard insect hybrid.
He even wanted to kickbox Arnold but the producers refused.
Kevin Peter Hall, RIP, was cast as the titular character as he was more of an intimidating opponent for Arnold's character Dutch being 7'2".
Oscar Winning VFX company Stan Winston Studios designed the PREDATOR suit for the movie and they would later return to the franchise for PREDATOR 2 in 1990.
Half the cast and crew got food poisoning except for Arnold and Director McTiernan whom ate Spaghetti O's and PBJ Sandwiches like Spielberg and Ford on Raiders Of The Lost Ark. Schwarzenegger would later hire his own personal Chef to give the actors the food they needed, but no hot meals were allowed due for the heatwave in Mexico
The producers hired a bodyguard to protect people from Sonny Landham, RIP, whom played Billy as he was prone to violent outbursts.
Landham said in an interview that "We weren't making a movie, it was a survival story for all of us "
The stuntman that falls off the cliff and lands in the water blew out his kneecap.
It was 110 degrees in the shade, and due to the 2 weeks of rain, it was 42 degrees at night.
The film was a box office success, making $100 million dollars ($470 million dollars today,) against an $18 million dollar budget.
It was nominated for Best Visual Effects but lost to InnerSpace.
It's one of the best Sci-fi Action movies ever made.

Listen to the enunciation of Dutch's line, "What the *Hell* are you?" He stresses the word "Hell". The Predator stresses the word, "you". The Predator isn't repeating, "What the Hell are you?" to Dutch. The Predator is asking, "What are you, that a mere human could manage to not only beat me, but kill me?" The Predator is literally in disbelief that he was laid low by a pathetic human.

The Predator comes from a species called the Yautja. They were genetical tampered with and accelerated into full sentience by yet a 5th alien race in the comics lore. To them hunting is a form of obtaining status and breeding rights. There are also sub species and different clans of Yautja that hunt in different environments, same or different prey and even hunt other clans members.

Yup. All the predator hunters are basically teenagers. It's also a matriarchal race and the females are giant compared to the males. Glad to see someone else with extended lore knowledge commenting.

And stop there. Predators is....eh. The Predator is garbage. And sadly AvP is just atrocious.

Hi Dawn. It wasn't gorillas, it was guerillas. That is what they call fighters who work in concealment and under the cover of jungle or whatever. They hit and run. The enemy in Viet Nam were guerilla fighters as were some of the Americans that fought the British in the War of Independance. They fought from behind hay bales and trees and anywhere they could find cover. Here's a bit of an odd fact for you Dawn. There were 2 former governors in this movie. Arnie of course and the guy who didn't have time to bleed. He was a former wrestler named Jesse (the body) Ventura. He, after retiring from wrestling became Governor of Minnesota.

Guerrilla refers the rebel fighters they found earlier in the film. The term Guerrilla Warfare became popular when the French Empire fought jungle rebels in their colonies in Indochina.

So glad you like this movie! Also, you don't have to check out all the Predator films except the second one. Save you the time to check out Alien vs Predator bit sooner and when you check out Alien vs Predator make sure it's the extended edition! I look forward for Predator 2 one day! =D

AvP was literally the next film to come out with a predator after Predator 2. I also heard that Predators wasn't a bad movie and the new Prey is okay enough. But, why wouldn't you want her to react to them all when her dense ass brain and poor understanding of English expression would make for great laughs and rage baiting comments/views for greater engagement. It literally pays on RUclips to be dumb.
