Seeing how different the painting looks when exported to an ordinary screen, I wonder if scanning the e-ink display would be a good alternative way to export your artwork.
Kit, is there any option to... wait for it... go to a black and white mode that wouldn't require the same color refresh? Or even if you are just working in black and white is the refresh any better?
How long have you being using your Remarkable Paper Pro? I am returning mine just after two weeks because the screen does not refresh correctly anymore, there are black spots and lines left behind
Thanks for going to this depth with this device because doodling and (my lame attempts at being an artist) are part of the reason why I buy things like this. There's only one device I own that doesn't have a pen (Hibreak) everything else from phones to computer are all pen ready... Just in case I wake up truly able to draw someday. So I really like this review.
The fact you have ideas and want to create makes you an artist- the rest is just practice you put in your get to whatever level you want to reach. You can do it!
The only thing that matters on drawing, doodling or whatever is that you enjoy it. Fire on and try and learn a little each time and sooner or later you'll make things that you love looking at and other people will too!
I love that you did this video. I was a heavy Boox fan, especially the note air 3C. But I lost my creativity with that device. My notes were utilitarian and boring. The drawing capabilities of the Paper Pro has encouraged me to make my notes creative again through mini breaks occupied by drawing. Those moments when my mind wanders turn into splashes of colorful doodles and keeps my mind refreshed. Then once my daydream ends, back to notes. It’s a mindful way to daydream 😂 the idea of a colorwheel palate is also intriguing, but I wonder if that is against the remarkable code of ethics…too much choice ends up being a distraction 🤔
@@KitBetts-Masters can’t wait 😇 any chance you could share the title of the background music you selected? Great vibe I’d love to have on while I do my work
I would like to know if these E-ink pads have any technical drawing tools that would aid in sketching design ideas like engineering or architecture. Not just pure freehand but adaptive straight line, repetitive shape, polygon editing and scaling tools.....nothing too CAD but drawing tools that can help me capture design ideas or concepts.
@@RosV-vn7dx yeah, then probably best to go with the Boox Pen2 Pro, has eraser and still will clip to the magnets on the Boox. Also, you can buy alternative Wacom nibs to suit your preferred feel.
I used the remarkable pro at best buy and i did not like the screen. The writing feeling felt like i was writing on hard plastic. I tested out remarkable 2 and it felt so good. This new tablet seems like a downgrade when it comes to writing feeling.
I too was very disappointed by the Remarkable Paper Pro. I don't like the writing, it's terrible (better on this Remarkable 2) and it flutters a lot. I hope for a quick update also in the hardware. I think that 2 ram is not enough. I think that yours is the only real comment.
*More akin to watercolours than [oil] painting or drawing.* I _'assume'_ the developers work closely with screen manufacturers, so they might have an idea what they could be working with in the near future. It would be really nice to hear from those screen manufacturers some times, that we might gain a glimpse of what kind of devices might be offered to us in the next year or two, but then, as with Supernote it is not always wise to offer the dog a bone before lunch is served.
Hi, I need to apologize for the next question presumable most viewers are more interested in the E-ink platform. I can't find a good comparison between remarkable (2 or paper pro) and an Ipad with a decent paperlike screenprotector. I've tested my colleagues Remarkable 2 and it's amazing. I really love apple products and specially the Ipad (mine is to old to add and test with apple pencil) For writing and notes, I mostly use and love the feel of fountain pen. Any tips and/or experience? With focus on taking notes on an Ipad with paperlike protector? Does it have the same (good) feeling as Remarkable?
I own both an iPad (with Paperlike screen protector) and Remarkable 2; for painting, the iPad wins every time. However, the drawing experience on Remarkable 2 is leagues above in both feel and the impression of pencil on paper. I purchased the Remarkable 2 for note-taking, which is a fantastic tool that I use daily for work, but the drawing experience is phenomenal.
Good job, you really went all in, lol, that said, I use it to draw industrial design prototypes, and they got those colors right, because the results are stunning !
How about Remarkable giving us a color picker / pallet tool instead of the imprecise Shader. Include an eye dropper. And a paint bucket. I'd buy the Pro if it had those. What's frustrating is that these requests are software. It's basically 2025. We shouldn't have to be requesting this. Instead they focus on the Type Folio which most people probably don't care about.
That is why that people have a different feel for things. I got an opposite feel, the Rmppro gives me that different feel and pen selection choices, that Supernote doesn't give me. Also one problem is, that I was writing on the Supernote for 8 days,, went back to my Rmppro and at first it felt too slippery, but 2 hours later, I completely forgot about it, and total experience feels more pleasant again.
@@TheVorst Okay, I'm willing to believe that for drawing, the RMPP is better. However, for someone who wants to organize their daily routine, the Supernote will be better in every way.
@@elladan4873not everyone likes the pen-feel of each device. So it’s HEAVILY subjective For example, my handwriting is thinner, but harder to read on a thin ballpoint pen due to how the pen feels and slips a bit on the paper. For me the supernote is definitely the best for writing. But I thythis is the best feel for drawing. Remarkable have always had a more pencil like feel, which makes sense for drawing. Supernote is more a good ballpoint pen feel. Supernote drawing app is brilliant as well. I'd love that on here with full colour.
@@KitBetts-Masters actually I just found out it gets better... It turns out not only can you copy your little drawings from notebooks into PDFs but, You have a PDF notebook full of shapes You can trace them and copy them into other PDFs. So that's a drawn image transfer from one PDF to another... That's major and it's a game changer. Everyday I own this thing it gets more and more indispensable. This is so different from my first experience with remarkable years ago. These things are way less limited than people think. The only real limitation left is that you can't copy or move a page from one PDF to another and that's becoming less and less of an issue with all the things it can do
I respect you so much and I thank you for the work you do. However, by speaking so highly of the RM PRO, you make me lose faith in you! Its problems are objective but I don't know why you continue to speak so highly of it!!!
@@Christian-Vain hehe, it's funny when I point out it's flaws I get this comment in reverse. I've been very clear on the limitations of remarkable, but for drawing, yep the paper feel and the gallery 3 colour screen make it a really good experience.

I think a better option would be for Remarkable to add an option to export to either (a) keep the "ideal" colors or (b) convert to screen colors.
