Two things I’m curious about Kit: - how does the screen surface compare to the R2? I know it’s a new material - how does this fit into the lineup? Do you expect a R3?
I usually avoid reviews from tech channels like wired, tech crunch and look for real people like yourself who have used prior products and provide real world insights into the products they use. Thanks :)
Finally a review from one who paid for it. Thanks! I'm waiting for mine to arrive, but I am not sure I will keep it. Though after this review, I think I will. Looks like the main issues are pretty overcomable.
I received mine today too, also a day ahead of their initial delivery estimate. Some notes: • The screen is noticeably darker than monochrome eInk tablets, including rM2, though not perhaps as dark as a Kaleido 3. The frontlight is almost a must for reading in anything but optimal lighting conditions. • The screen size is a nice boon. Even though it is only an inch and a half larger diagonally, I have already noticed that large-format PDFs are easier to review. • Notepads that synced from my rM2 did not get expanded in text size. Rather, in cases in which I had filled a lined template page with handwriting, the Paper Pro showed the same writing, but the template extended a few blank lines further than the original. Handwriting and template lines all lined up. You may not have noticed on the quick example you examined, because the handwriting extended beyond the bottom of the original page (with the scrolling feature). In short, Paper Pro gives you a couple extra lines, but at roughly the same scale. One thing you may want to test for your viewers, which I will be testing myself, is how reMarkable handles syncing documents between multiple devices if you leave one open on e.g. your rM2 and then open the same notebook on PP. They sidestepped this issue when introducing the rM2 for users of the original reMarkable by only allowing one device to be logged into an account at a time. Now the Connect subscription permits 3 devices on the same account, so I wonder how it will juggle notebooks that might be open on multiple devices simultaneously.
@@flrn84791 Not really no. Wouldn't really know what the advantage of backlight would be, and color seems like a nice to have, but not critical. Would prefer to not have the flicker that I saw in this video.
I appreciate this video, man! I think I could probably never really accept that refresh flickering. I hope there’ll be a future where e-ink just magically works with zero flickering and lag. It is comfortable to look at, feel and draw and write on after all.
I believe there are solutions to solve the flickering and slowness, but this will probably increase the price drastically and make it impossible to sell to end users. Especially considering the tablet's features. Just like you, I would probably never accept these "features" (refresh flickering) either. 😂
@truecuckoo & @MaurilioCardoso-c9b & @KittBetts-Masters the thing i need to share, is you have to appreciate the slowness and flickering is from an camera. There is a big difference between viewing via naked eyes and camera. It has a 100 days return policy. So if interested one can give it a go, without any monetary loss. I really loved it. Thank you
These tablets have low-speed processors, small storage, and limited RAM. They don't pay Google or Android for licenses, and they offer fewer apps. E-ink displays are cheaper than OLED. So what's driving up the $629 cost of these devices? Hardware-wise, they are 2x more expensive than an iPad.
Excellent honest review. Thanks for showing the things no one else does! I did order the Paper Pro, but only because of the generous 100-day return policy... Looking forward to testing it out when it arrives.
Thanks so much. This gives an accurate idea of what we can expect of the device. Honestly watching the RM advertisement video I was suspicious at how good it looks. Looking at these reviews I am not sure wether it is an upgrade that I am willing to spend the money on. The refresh and the flashing looks quite distracting.
@@TheKongWizard Nobody needs to burn hundreds of dollars on a device that does not fit their needs, and since it is much harder to test one of these in person than say, an iPad, it can be difficult to make that determination in advance. Fortunately, reMarkable has a very flexible return policy.
Can you give us a close look at the text rendering in PDFs? From the glances you did give it looks pretty rough. Definitely not as sharp or smooth as on other devices. I don't mind the flashing so much, but text being hard to read is a deal breaker.
Im a graphic designer and the fact that you draw makes your appreciation very valuable, I have the RM2, and its full of doodles and letter drawings, not lots of shading more like sketches so i do appreciate a better RAM to render so many strokes faster.
Immediate Questions: 1. Handwriting to text and specifically: Math related handwritten equations to text feature (all the special symbols and recognition of that and exporting it into other documents); you as a physics teacher should know what I'm talking about and can hopefully elaborate. OneNote on Microsoft does it fairly well, but the Surface Pro lineup and their pens and palm rejection on OneNote is terrible for a $1500 device. 2. Left handedness features. Is the X still really easy to hit as a left hander to cancel out of apps? Did they actually change the UI to help lefties or are we left out in the dark (pun intended). Was everything rotated or switched over to the other side so there's literal equivalent for lefties? 3. General import/export of documents and changing of formats. Is there a third party app equivalent to ReadEra on the Android? 4. Touch UI and palm touch rejection. Do I need to write with my hand off the slab? I generally find that so uncomfortable. 5. Battery life with real world life usage. Thanks for your time and awesome reviews!
Ive just purchased one and loved seeing and hearing your completely unbiased review. I'll be using mine just as I'd use a notepad for work so HOPEFULLY the screen refresh won't be too offputting. Great video. :)
@@thomasjensen2048 I knew about that, so never used a ruler, but suddenly realized upon seeing the use of a ruler that I could use all of my old templates just as I did on vellum in the old days 🙂
When you draw a line on the screen and hold down the pen on screen at the end of the line, does the line automatically not become perfectly straight? Like goodnotes o ipad?
Thank God you are finally getting this tablet! I've been waiting for an honest hands-on review and the very first thing you said was my main concern and a deal breaker for me. Not having true blacks is a non-starter for me, although it may not be for some. But everywhere I've mentioned it, people say it's not true. I'm glad to have you as my go-to for unbiased information.
I so agree that once you go over to a pen-based tablet that works, you never go back! I too am a physics teacher and LOVE that I can have all my books with me instead of having to carry a literal TON of them between work and home.
By far the best hands on video I've seen on the new remarkable, it's not all perfect, and maybe it's a slightly less focused device than the 2 was, but it's still a damn good e ink tablet. I'd say I'm happy with my Boox, if it wasn't that the screen broke and the support never replied -.-"
I watched your Rm2 video before buying one for myself, and it was incredibly helpful. Thank you for making a solid review, with more to say than just the superficial aspects of it. 👍🏻
Can you check, in the top area, when writing the notes, drawing with the stock pensil, with black color, whether the strokes on the screen would always show precisely, most importantly, if you would keep on drawing the line, continously? There has been reported issues with that, that strokes would stop showing and/or would not be precisely showing compared to the hand movement.
Please show the front light. I returned my boox go 10.3 because it lacked a front light and was super dark to use. What I expected to be white was grey.
Thanks for the more balanced, not blindly overhyped review. PDFs are very important to me because I read a lot of technical papers, and I’ve been using the boox go 10.3. In this device I can modify the letters and contrast to make it look the best possible. I have a kindle scribe also and PDF performance was not very good, words looked too white, and changing the contrast ruined the pictures. Is the RM better to read PDF than these alternatives, or it does look too bright like the scribe? Thanks!
First time I used an e-ink device was in 2018 (Boox 13 inch), was taken aback by the flashing. But soon enough it was the device I exclusively used to do all my PhD readings, annotating and organising. It savid me time and a few boxes of paper. And, like you, especially after RM2, I'm struggling to readjust to normal note taking, certainly as I work as a writer and editor.
Thanks! Nice to see a candid take. The flashing does look realllllly distracting, this will be my first e-ink device, hopefully it’s not too off-putting 😅. From comparison videos it seems the screen is a bit of an off-white as well, I’d probably rather B&W with whiter display, better resolution etc than flashing colors
I love my RM2 and have been using it as my daily notebook and planner. I missed having color. I love that the Paper Pro has color! How do like Paper Pro vs other color e-ink notebooks? I've looked at a few reviews and I see that the screen isn't as "white" as RM2. Have you found that bothersome?
The only other e-ink device is a Kindle Scribe that I predominantly read on and take some notes/to-dos. I want to start using the Scribe more for work meetings and then the Pro was announced. It’ll be interesting to see how I get on, do you have much experience with the Scribe vs others, what will surprise me the most?
I'd be curious to see layer performance & how much it can really handle. One issue on my Remarkable 2 is that for really in-depth technical drawings, it takes upwards of a minute to load them up if there's a lot of detail. Thoughts based on the video- I was going to insta-buy this in the next couple months, but I'm now similarly torn. I like the idea of adding colour, but I could just as easily just export and finish sketches in Rebelle 7 Pro on my PC. I use mine predominantly for sketching so the flashing is extremely distracting- I'm unsure if the trade-off would be worth it there. I found the previous size perfect as well, so they're not gaining a lot with the bigger size since Zooming in was fine previously. As an artist, the wobble and the fact the pen needs to be charged makes it nearly an immediate no. While I do appreciate the colour accuracy, if it's going to be flashing like an annoying sign on every stroke or interaction it's not going to be very appealing. It seems like the Canvas color screen needs more work. Currently I'd say the jury's out on this one.. I'll have to look at more reviews/videos to see if I'm willing to invest in this next level and see what else is currently on market. Ideally, I want something that's fast, excellent battery life, no charging pen, capability to sync notes to Obsidian, no pen wobble, with layer blending & some extra sketchbook tools. The main selling point to me is the long battery life & ability to work anywhere in the sun. No screen fatigue is great, so the backlight is wasted on my use-case. I do like that the new folios have the protector for the pen, I've lost count of how many times I've nearly lost my pen so that is a small but critical add. I am hoping that some of the excess screen flashing can be fixed in subsequent software updates as if not... that may be enough to make me skip it. If it's a hardware issue with the technology.. that technology IMO needs more investment/development before it's solid enough for consumer grade. I'm obviously a bit biased here as I use it more for art, but as it has the capacity to fill the niche of being a perfect sketchbook, it'll be a point I'll continue driving home in future surveys from their team.
I’m completely happy with my RM2, but I’ve had it for 3 years, and now the new shiny thing is out and I’m not sure if I want it because the new features (color and front light mainly) would be useful or just because it’s new.
As always, amazing video. I'm personally not in the market for an e-ink note taking device (my only device is a Go Color 7) but I'm always hyped of watching reviews about them. They're interesting devices for sure and seeing a new technology getting into a device is always good (outside of the Bigme Galy)
For me the biggest upgrade is having the light. That's major. Writing in the dark is great. But I'm having a hard time acclimating to this screen. It's textured, far more than the rM2, but I don't know if I can get used to this. I'd be settling because of how great it is to have the light. If the rM2 had a front light, I'd be fine. That screen/marker combo is great. All that to say, I'm looking for one of those screen covers that add some drag to the writing experience. I miss being able to write lightly without slipping. Any suggestions?
Thanks for your great reviews. In a future evaluation video, please advise if the Paper Pro allows you to insert inks in a notebook to other notebooks or PDFs similar to the Supernote.
For me it’s all about note taking. I want a fast device, maximal paper feel and the big screen but I don’t care about colour… Is it possible to put the paper pro in black and white mode to reduce/eliminate that flashing?
What a brilliant first take on the device! Thank you. Looking forward to a long term use review when you've found and tested all the things you like and dislike!
Your review is eye-opening in more ways than one... I just wanted your opinion as a teacher if you think the colours of this device are a good trade-off for the functionality of the Supernote? Hearing back from you would be awesome! As background, I'm a medical student, so drawing is a big factor and the main thing making me insecure in my choice of buying A5X2 when it comes out. Thank you!
Thanks, I'm looking forward to your full review. It seems there is a lot more flashing when you show some pages, especially with colour. Although I would like the colour functionality, I would find that can be a little disconcerting. Can you compare this with Supernote? Do you export notes to Obsidian?
I’d really like to know if you can transfer typed notes to a Word document, how tedious that process is, and if it translates well to Word if you have pictures or handwritten notes drawn alongside your typed notes? I always look forward to your reviews on these types of tablets. Thanks 🎉
Hi Kit, I'd love to see how a monthly agenda looks on this tablet. Do daily entries quickly overwhelm the small space of each day's box? Curious if this will be the right tablet for me. Thanks!
I’m interested to know about battery life with its various backlight/color forms. I have a Fujitsu QUADERNO which I love for what it allows me to do, but the battery life is wretched.
Could you compare the remarkable pro with Boox Tab X (13.3-inch device) and share your thoughts on which one works best for reading A4-sized (or letter size in USA) scientific papers and taking notes? I'm more interested in the differences in refresh rates and screen-size differences than the ability to read and write in colors. Thank you!!
Slightly niche question, but could you have a look at it in a mind mapping perspective as well? That involves (ideally infinite canvas) but a fair bit of zooming in and out, resizing. I know at the moment there is only unlimited vertical scroll, but in theory resizing and zooming can essentially negate it- versus on competing products? Thanks in advance
Is there an opacity setting on the ink, for instance if i wanted to sketch lightly with the black colour, and then work ontop of it with heavier black colour ontop? The flashing of colour is slightly off putting. Is that exagerrated by the filming? Fundamentally, I'm intererested in being able to quickly sketch and note take. I'm torn between rM2 or this new rMPP.
When reading color pdf, when flipping page, waiting those flashing/flickering to settle down annoying? How does it compared to black and white in this regard? And how good does the shadows disappear after changing page? These are most important factors to consider
Another question, I'd be very curious to see it showcased : if you could open the regular EPUB book on the RM PP and use the natural light, either in the room or outdoor, whether it would be readable easily. And followup question: how would you compare it to the Go10.3, displaying the same book, is the readability is worse/same/better?
I started my e-ink journey with the note air 2 plus. loved it every day (as a replacement ipad without all the consumption and replacement note book with direct integration my work docs). I recently upgraded it to the Go 10.3 for the closer writing feel.. but really suffer with the lack of lighting. I live in Scotland where the day light isnt great and bed side lamps are wrong ambience for bringing out the whiteness… SO now I am considering the RmPro as it has both the close writing experience and the light.. however I need strong integration to my one-drive and g drive cloud and I also read the economist app! What to do?!
i use the remarkable for drawing but i missing the backlight. Please can you show us the differents between RM2 and Paper Pro with simple pen hatching drawings 🙂
Another ask: check , by any chance, when the device screen is turned off, if you see any kind of "bright spot" on the display, despite it is being turned off, like some very very tiny "spot" (or multiple), which would be having kinda "constant tiny light"...There has been also issues reported abt such a defects, hopefully you don't have it
Another question: as I have noticed from the reddit and other reviwers, there are generally a certain "noise", that can be head from the different sources , either from the device itself or from the pen (or when note-taking with that pen). So, wondering if you have noticed any of that "self-noise", either from the RM PP , for example, when turning the pages, and/or from the pen, when writing with it (like you know, this term is from the audio recording devices, that the devices would have a certain "self-noise" when processing the audio) ? a.k.a "high pitch electronic sound" ?
The line wobble, yellowing, and color flashing have me rethinking my purchase. I'll probably try mine for week when it arrives, and then make the call after if I want to keep it. 😬
Yes. You could do that on rM2 already. And despite the drawbacks of the new screen (darker background), notes and highlights in color to pop out a bit more.
“Evaluate the shit out of it” lmao My guy-love this channel. I watch your reviews knowing full well I’m not gonna buy anything new anytime soon (unless the A5X2 actually releases this month like it’s supposed to). THAT is the review I’ll be watching anxiously.
I just purchased a REM 2 in this last month and I can return it. I really like it. I wish it had a backlight. I have one of the REM Pro on order but it hasn’t shipped. After watching this video, I’m on the fence if this is worth having or not. What are your thoughts for note taking for work and drawing some colored conceptual pictures ? Is the backlight good for low light and dark environments?
They added a technique to allow drawing straight lines by pausing at the beginning of the stroke or the end of the stroke than adjusting where you want it before lifting the pen.
Is the power button any different than the remarkable 2? I accidentally jammed it on my 2, and read online other ppl had that issue as well. Not ruined by any means, still works. But hoping the 3 is different style for the button.
Oh no! I knew i shpuldve waited to buy the expensive pen. I couldve just used the other. Since you have both, if you write on one, does it update on the 2nd tablet real-time?
I've been wanting the remarkable 2 since 2021, 4 years have passed and still i managed to wait long enough for an upgrade. The concept of replacing paper and pen sold me entirely since then, but i realized now that I've been waiting for additional colors for note taking, i couldnt phantom just black and white color scheme for all note taking experience, i think i might purchase the paper pro, will decide this week.
Waited 2 years from deciding I might want a remarkable but thought might be a new one coming, to now, concluding I don’t think I actually want to pay that much for stuff I’m mostly not bothered about. I don’t want something that big, I don’t expect to need the backlight, and colour is nice but I’m very sensitive to flashing images. Therefore finally ordered a Remarkable 2 last night and it feels like I wasted 2 years. Though I’m tempted to also get the paper pro and hoping I can managed their satisfaction guarantee return process to return the one I like less (if not both)
Thanks for the review! I currently own a reMarkable 2, and there are two key issues I’ve encountered that I hope the new reMarkable Paper Pro addresses: 1. When my digital notebook reaches 30+ pages, it becomes quite difficult to find specific comments or notes. The scrolling on the reMarkable 2 feels slow and cumbersome. Could you show how the new reMarkable handles scrolling through long notebooks and share your thoughts on it? 2. The templates provided on the reMarkable 2 are somewhat limited, so I ended up creating custom “scheduler” templates to enhance my workflow and productivity. However, adding new templates required some technical work, like connecting to the reMarkable’s Linux system. Does the new Paper Pro make it easier to set up custom templates? Maybe set a page you designed/scratched as a template for other notebooks? If not (and to the extent that you can check), is it still possible to add templates via the file system? Lastly, based on your experience, would you recommend upgrading from the reMarkable 2 to the new Paper Pro? Thanks again for your detailed review!
Is the lack of a warm light an issue? I have the old Kindle Oasis with the white light and I do not like that backlight in the evenings, I much prefer the warm light on my paperwhite, so I'm worried this won't be great to use before sleep?
Thanks for the review! Would you say that the majority of downsides you found are mostly related to artists using this tablet to draw and visualize drawings? Because in the end, if you use it to write notes down and read pdfs that now have colored images (with respect to the previous remarkables), it seems to me that most of the downsides are either irrelevant or not so impactful. Is there some bigger issue I missed? Like maybe the battery life of the pen
I'm interested in how it works together with other devices and software! Do I still need a subscription to get anything on or off the device? Can I use a SD-Card or external SSD? Thanks!
Be interested to see more content on the flashing over different document types - eg how it goes reading normal books without any color through to flipping through graphic novels, for example. The flashing looked really messy in this clip - wondering if that’s something they can optimize over time?
Big thing for me is custom templates. If I can continue to use third party apps to enable this I might upgrade. Bewildering that rm still don’t offer this.
Hi. I have a tab ultra c. I read work documents and a lot of comics (European and US) on it. Im looking for a bigger screen and if colors are better... can you do some test about this?
thank you for mentioning that icky slow flashing refresh that right in the face. It was not pointed out by previous reviews I've seen. I couldn't understand if it's just me being overly demanding or it is indeed very annoying and kinda step back in e-ink development
I was long expecting your review, finally here! It is yet to see how Supernote will catch up with the color e ink display. Despite its disadvantages, I do really think it is a step forward in e ink technology and expect to have them as the newer standard in a couple years or so.
Great video, is the software identical to the r2? Any chance this has an opacity slider for layers or the ability to put pictures into written notes? Thanks!
I haven't seen anyone try an OTG adapter to see if a USB keyboard just works. Apparently, the rM 1 does let you take external keyboard input this way, while the rM 2 couldn't do it easily due to lack of power output for OTG. I'm very curious if I could use my mechanical keyboard with the Pro. Would easily make me not want to buy the expensive Type Folio
Thanks, its always good to have your view on e-ink-devices as drawing-tools. As you will be testing the device in the coming weeks, it would be great if you could show us / give your opinion on an export of the new shader tool... How it is rendered in svg and pdf... Using the highlighter in other ReMarkables has been good for shading so far, but exporting hasn't been very pleasant. Hope that got better with the Shader-tool in RM PP. Thanks again
Thank you for your video! Will you explore the templates? Will you validate that you can open a PDF as a notebook? I was chatting with the Remarkable support team and he said it could be done.
@@KitBetts-Masters Got you. And, also, I've noticed you've mentioned that this active pen stylus is not "good", compared to the EMR pen..Yeah, why did they decide to use that, then(
@@jacksonier I think maybe it's enabled the lower latency, (with black at least,) and that has meant that the whole gallery screen can be manipulated more quickly. I think also the active capacitive pen uses the same digitiser layer as the touch, so perhaps it makes the screen thinner overall.
@@jacksonierSame. Mostly black, but ability to add color highlights and red pen crossing out to match how I use color in the real world I'm anticipating will make a big difference.
Hey, I do a lot of journaling and bujo. Wanna jump to digital e-ink device but still confused. Does remarkable let you link pages so you can jump to specific pages? How well does organizing folders and tags work?
i saw on a promotion video that you can tag you notes to go back to them easier. Is that possible to make multi-tags researches ? i seems difficult to organize multiple notes (like for a student or so). Thanks for you vidéos, it's helping me figuring out which model to choose for my upcomming studies 😊
I'm curious as to how the feel of the pencil is on the screen vs ipad pencil ( when you place one of those sheets on ipad to give it that scratchy feeling) And overall would you recommend sticking with ipad which is 50% less than this and does pretty much the same thing ( but offers much more). I still cant see where the upside is to this over ipad
The writing experience on the Remarkable 2 and the Remarkable Paper Pro is leagues better (in my opinion) than writing on an iPad (with or without a paperlike screen protector). I've used a Remarkable 2, Remarkable Paper Pro, Boox Note Air 2, 3 and 3C and Supernote A6X and iPad Pro, Air and Mini. It really depends on how much reading and writing you do vs. how much you need a device for media consumption and the other things an iPad does well. I write 70+ pages of notes per week and read a lot of PDFs for work and school, and for both of those use cases an e-Ink device was a huge improvement for me, and I use my Macbook for videos and other things. If you don't do so much writing and mostly use your device for other things with the occasional notes / reading, then an iPad is probably fine for you.
As a therapist, I have been considering the RM2 as I use so much paper. I've been thinking about the Supernote A5 X also so waiting for this release (if it ever happens!) and I think the flashing may have put me off a little. Does the RM2 do this or is it just the colour that makes this happen? Thanks for the authentic review.

The new E Ink Gallery 3 screen without subpixels is almost certainly more expensive than an OLED screen.
Excellent honest review. Thanks for showing the things no one else does!
I did order the Paper Pro, but only because of the generous 100-day return policy... Looking forward to testing it out when it arrives.
That is such a great policy. I'd meant to mention that in the video but forgot!
Yes, it's not quite, distraction free is it!?
First candid review yet - I get mine today and not sure I will keep it. will come back with feedback but appreciate your solid pros and cons
@ThomasHoffDE, you must be Lucky, that you at least got it :)
@ThomasHoffDE As someone sitting on the fence, Id love to hear your feedback.
if a few hundred dollars matters so much to you, perhaps you shouldn’t bother with at the edge tech.
How about selling it to me if you plan on selling it
@@TheKongWizard Nobody needs to burn hundreds of dollars on a device that does not fit their needs, and since it is much harder to test one of these in person than say, an iPad, it can be difficult to make that determination in advance.
Immediate Questions:
When you drew on the screen using a ruler, I suddenly realized that I should be using templates on my screen. Thank you!!!
ive been using a remarkable 2 for a month, and if you make a line but hold before you let go it makes a perfect line
@@thomasjensen2048 I knew about that, so never used a ruler, but suddenly realized upon seeing the use of a ruler that I could use all of my old templates just as I did on vellum in the old days 🙂
@@DrMikeHeffronA plus to that is, you only have to draw them once in a document, and then you'll have them to copy/paste elsewhere.
When you draw a line on the screen and hold down the pen on screen at the end of the line, does the line automatically not become perfectly straight? Like goodnotes o ipad?
Please do a video comparing it to the Boox Note Air 3 c , thank you!
yes please that is what I need. In technical terms, in method and mindset change.
A literal TON, and you're a physics teacher?
By far the best hands on video I've seen on the new remarkable, it's not all perfect, and maybe it's a slightly less focused device than the 2 was, but it's still a damn good e ink tablet.
I'd say I'm happy with my Boox, if it wasn't that the screen broke and the support never replied -.-"
I watched your Rm2 video before buying one for myself, and it was incredibly helpful. Thank you for making a solid review, with more to say than just the superficial aspects of it. 👍🏻
LOL 3:40 I’m absolutely going to evaluate the shit out of this. Look forward to your live Kit.
I was surprised by his pronounciation of the expletive. I always thought Brits pronounced that one with a long 'i'.
Thanks for showing the device. I am really curious about how Comics (CBZ/CBR) and the browsing will look like.
No browsing on it at all, and no CBZ/CBR support, but I'll get some PDF ones ready for the live stream tomorrow.
@@KitBetts-Masters Okay, thanks.
That's unfortunate … do at least epubs and mobi work?
Why would somebody 'castrate' a device like that? Strange ...😐
Really curious how do you fell about the zoom. I'm interested if it's decent for mind maps. Start at 3x zoom and you have a bigger canvas
Great idea! I'll try and feature that in the live.
What it’s the writing feel most similar to? Apple Pencil on iPad, HoM on Feelwrite2 or on pre-FW2 Supernote, RM2?
Can you check, in the top area, when writing the notes, drawing with the stock pensil, with black color, whether the strokes on the screen would always show precisely, most importantly, if you would keep on drawing the line, continously? There has been reported issues with that, that strokes would stop showing and/or would not be precisely showing compared to the hand movement.
It sort of bends up towards the corner like around a magnet. Not bad though. I'll keep my eyes out for that behaviour though!
Cheers! Yep, can't go back to paper now.
Great video. One question if I may, does it support the conversion of notes --> text in different languages such as Russian for example?
How is the writing experience compared to Supernote a6x2?
Yeah, digital paper is a fascinating area to get into! Great start with the Go Colour 7!
Thank you for your honest view! So refreshing to hear an actual eink tablet user talk about it in a candid way.
I think the “flashing” is a visual filler to compensate for the screen pause lag time? When switching inputs. Only a thought.
Is there a possibility on the Remarkable to directly translate words into another language or look up foreign words?
For me it’s all about note taking.
I want a fast device, maximal paper feel and the big screen but I don’t care about colour…
Is it possible to put the paper pro in black and white mode to reduce/eliminate that flashing?
Thank you!!
What I would like to see is how it handles colour magazines and A4 coffee table pdfs
Does the screen ever wear out from continued writing on it, like lose it’s paper feel and smooth out like the Paperlike film used for IPads and such?
Another ask: check , by any chance, when the device screen is turned off, if you see any kind of "bright spot" on the display, despite it is being turned off, like some very very tiny "spot" (or multiple), which would be having kinda "constant tiny light"...There has been also issues reported abt such a defects, hopefully you don't have it
No, can't see that at all. Is it the yellow ghosting maybe?
Another question: as I have noticed from the reddit and other reviwers, there are generally a certain "noise", that can be head from the different sources , either from the device itself or from the pen (or when note-taking with that pen). So, wondering if you have noticed any of that "self-noise", either from the RM PP , for example, when turning the pages, and/or from the pen, when writing with it (like you know, this term is from the audio recording devices, that the devices would have a certain "self-noise" when processing the audio) ?
a.k.a "high pitch electronic sound" ?
Yeah, I read that as well and meant to test it today, but forgot. I certainly didn't notice any, but I will listen hard later!
The line wobble, yellowing, and color flashing have me rethinking my purchase. I'll probably try mine for week when it arrives, and then make the call after if I want to keep it. 😬
Is it possible to take note on epub book ? To do like an active reading?
Yes. You could do that on rM2 already. And despite the drawbacks of the new screen (darker background), notes and highlights in color to pop out a bit more.
What are your thoughts on the backlight? I was quite disappointed. And the screen seems much darker
Thanks! Does it support word search for handwritten notes (OCR)?
Love your unbiased real-world content. And from someone who enjoys sketching, please continue to offer that perspective on this new Remarkable.
“Evaluate the shit out of it” lmao
My guy-love this channel.
Ahh, yes, and now we know why! ;-) (As an artist though, I want free hand and no wobble.)
@@KitBetts-Masters Agreed
they add AI linear prediction technology to improve latency and pen performance. it isnt your raw data as same as emr technology.
@@SatomiTanaka495 yeah, I presumed it was something like that!
@@KitBetts-Masters maybe if you can use compass you can understand the difference between Pro and rM2 when you want to write.
Is the power button any different than the remarkable 2? I accidentally jammed it on my 2, and read online other ppl had that issue as well. Not ruined by any means, still works. But hoping the 3 is different style for the button.
Do they make nibs that are more like the nibs for the remarkable 2? The new pen/nibs slide/slip more than the remarkable 2
What about diagonal lines by holding drawing and holding? Are they still wobbly?
Are the lack of straight lines not to do with magnetic interference like the RM2? One of my biggest irritations...
Though I’m tempted to also get the paper pro and hoping I can managed their satisfaction guarantee return process to return the one I like less (if not both)
I use some purchased templates for my diary styled journalling and daily/weekly/monthly planner. How do these come across from the Remarkable 2?
Thanks for the review! I currently own a reMarkable 2, and there are two key issues I’ve encountered that I hope the new reMarkable Paper Pro addresses:
I'll try and cover this yep!
@@KitBetts-Masters Thanks, did you get a chance to review this?
Would like to know how battery life is with the new T2000 chip
Something to test: how well does the pen work near the corners. Also show a few epub samples.
I was long expecting your review, finally here! It is yet to see how Supernote will catch up with the color e ink display. Despite its disadvantages, I do really think it is a step forward in e ink technology and expect to have them as the newer standard in a couple years or so.
Thank you! I’ve watched basically all your vids over the year. Ultimate question now…
Boox 3C or this?
And boox 3C has screen issue too as I research?
How does it feel in comparison to weight vs the Remarkable2? Love the video
So, USI standard means, that there are some other active pens on the market, which would work with the RM PP ?
Yeah, but I tried two, and neither worked as well as the rM marker.
@@KitBetts-Masters yeah, and that's cool, I mean my primary use-case gonna be using Black for note-taking, so, that's Pros.
Would you recommend it for School or would you recommend another one. Great review
Side by side with Galy 3 if you still have access to that would be great
What formats can you annotate? It only documents made on the remarkable and PDFs? Can you download books to annotate?
As a therapist, I have been considering the RM2 as I use so much paper. I've been thinking about the Supernote A5 X also so waiting for this release (if it ever happens!) and I think the flashing may have put me off a little. Does the RM2 do this or is it just the colour that makes this happen? Thanks for the authentic review.
Hello!
First of all thank you for your quality videos on these techs!
Could you please show how heavy colour PDFs are handled by the device?
(Page quality, page flipping speed, ecc..)
