Just got a 2004 mini cooper last week. It's got a cassette player in it, same as Noah had on his ark. So I've got the all the bits to fit my JVC tomorrow. It looks like a pig of a job. Hope your video helps.
You have such a great personality for this stuff! I needed to learn how to make this install - and not only did I learn that, but I had a blast watching this video. Nice work!
Looking for some help!! I am installing a Boss single din into my 06 R53…matched all the wires and I have power but no sound. Plugged the factory back in and I have sound again. Any ideas??! I’m stumped.
Great video, thanks for posting! Anyone know if this stereo is compatible with an '06 R53 with the stock Navigation pkg? Im looking to add bluetooth to my car. Currently has the stock stereo.
I need some help. I have a 2005 R52 convertible. We swapped the radio out and upgraded the radio. However, I have no power going to my window controls and the lights behind my hvac are no longer on. Idk what to do? Please help? It’s like the white plug behind the harness isn’t plugged into anything or going anywhere. What do I do?
Another great video! I don't know shit about cars and this has helped me SO much mate. You ever get the mic fitted? Any tips how to figure that out? ta
My one doesn’t have any steering wheel controls but I think to make it work with them you need an extra module that plugs into the back of the head unit
I've got a 2003 r53 with the same unit as you. It also has the hand controls behind the steering wheel and Harmon kardon speakers, will the hand controls still work or will I need anything else to go with the conversion kit you bought. You said you got it on Amazon but didn't mention where. Cheers
@@carfellauk thanks for replying, I haven't done anything with it since, the old head unit is still out of the car. When I removed the head unit there were what I can only describe as two different Arial cables behind the head unit but I don't know where the second one goes as the cables damaged and doesn't seem to connect anywhere so I'm totally confused ☹️☹️☹️
Maybe someone can help. I swapped out my stereo on the R53 yesterday. I want the dimming feature to be able to work. The adapter i got from the shop does not have a blue cable out to connect to the new head unit. Looking at wiring diagrams, I can splice into the old wire, but does it actually make the dimming feature work?
@@carfellauk Yes it does, but the wiring harness i got that adapts from the Mini does not have an orange wire. If i take the wire directly from the Mini (wire 14 on diagrams/grey & red) and splice it directly to the orange wire on the head unit, that should work right?
I have power but no sound. Could it be the deck ? The car has steering wheel controls and Harmon speakers and stock amp. You think that could be the problem
@@carfellauk when I plug the stock deck in I get sound but I plug the new deck in and I get power no sound. I’ve bought a couple different harnesses to try not to spend 180 bucks on the kit. They won’t send the kit to me from the UK.
@@carfellauk sorry to bombard you with all this. If I can get all the harnesses you have I’ll probably be good but I can’t find them. And when I do they don’t look like the one you got
You made it look easy! I’m thinking to put a Pioneer SPH-DA130DAB Car Stereo in my mini r57 I’ve seen one video and they didn’t even really show much so…. We’ll see how that turns out 😭

Three spoke steering wheel really transformed the interior on my r53.
Lol 😂 the three spoke wheel is very high on my list the two spoke is horrible

Hermano dónde conseguiste el arnés para tu auto estereo quiero ponerle otro estereo que no sea el original saludos desde México hermano
Hey bro love Mexico thank you for watching i bought the harness from eBay as a kit
Do the steering wheel buttons work with the new stereo?
Yeah they all work
Hi mate, this video is really helpful. I’ve followed all the steps and have power to the stereo but no sound. Any ideas what’s wrong?
Check your amp in the rear driver side boot panel, might have blown

How good is it having a new head unit tho, as long as I have my tunes, I'm golden 😏
Bro makes it a completely different car now can’t hear the rattles lol

The kit I got on eBay and as for the steering wheel controls mine didn’t have any so I can’t speak to that defo improved the car massively

Does your head unit not have a separate dimming feature

I would have to see the wiring diagram
Thank you
Facom Rotator for them awkward screws bro, they are hella expensive but when you use them it all makes sense, we got the little kit at work, £120 😭🤣
