- 3 Amtrak Locomotives Lead The Longest Passenger Coach Train In America, CSX Coal Train Crosses Big Trestle & Enters A Coal Mine Branch & A Coal Train Disappears Into A Tunnel! These trains are in Prince, West Virginia on CSX. 1st we see Amtrak locomotives pulling a special passenger train called the Autumn Colors Express. It is seen passing the historic train station in Prince, West Virginia. Amtrak stops here for 3 round trips a week. I filmed the westbound special passing here on its way to Huntington, West Virginia from Hinton, West Virginia. When I first got there nobody else was there but just before the train arrived a score of rail fans made a photo line. Look how long that passenger train was! Have you ever seen that many passenger cars on a train in America?
Next I went to a coal branch to catch a coal train returning to the mines. The branch comes off the CSX main line just west of the Prince station. That train was so long that it needed a DPU shoving on the rear. We also see a coal train going through the tunnel right where that branch line ties into the main. I heard the train approaching on my scanner and had to hurry to film it. I just barely got there in time.
Filmed in 4K and 1080p with 30fps on Saturday, October 22, 2022AD
Thanks for watching! If you have time, please watch another video of mine to help keep my channel going. Every view helps support my channel. Viewing time helps pay for gas, motels, rental cars etc. I have a list of places that I plan on filming so watch another video of mine if you have the time.

Hello Jaw Tooth Glad you are enjoying your stay in the New River Gorge ! The Name Of The Tunnel is Stretcher Neck Tunnel! So Much more to See up the CSX New River Subdivision
Impressive collection of private railcars.
That is a nice shot starting at 5:30 as the train comes across that awesome bridge.
I agree. Wicked shot!
Nice to see some coal trains and that amtrak had nice private cars
wow, you were right, this is a cool place to see trains going across that bridge. You outdid yourself today. I think Norfie wanted to be petted. I know I would, all day lol. She would live me, she's so cute. 57 degrees here in Easton Pennsylvania. Have a nice day ☺️
Thank you very much!
Great video JT! That Amtrak coach train is awesome
The car with panoramic dome "California Zephyr" evokes the mythical train, probably the most beautiful train in all of North America. It runs between Chicago and San Francisco, coursing through the plains of Nebraska to Denver, across the Rockies to Salt Lake City and then through Reno abs Sacramento… Thank you for these evocative images.
The car is Silver Palace, that was owned by Western Pacific. CZ-21
That train station looks like an itty-bitty 1950’s style high school. Amazing after what is decades the Prince sign letters are still intact. Must be good people living in those parts. I love you catching the real, dedicated rail-fanners chasing trains in-person and recording them for prosperity. Nice to see a woman among those. Your photography of the train over that trestle was exceptional. Good video, son. Thanks, Jaw Tooth.
Cool train station cool Amtrak train CSX coal train with two engines in front and two DPUs in rear and 75 cars was great as well as the old steel trestle great video thanks Jaw tooth
A perfect day to be Trackside and a perfect day to be sitting inside a dome car enjoying the scenery and fall colors. That Prince Depot with the Nifty metal sign was part of a 1940s modernization and it's possible that this station is the one with a mural in the waiting room and also the C&O emblem in tile on the floor It was great watching the coal train come across the narrow bridge and make the sharp turn. Even with the newer cars and locomotives compared to the older GP 7 and 9 units and the smaller two bay hoppers much less the steam power that preceded it it's a Timeless View in the valley. Even the inner guard rails on that bridge almost look like a little Narrow Gauge coal mining track. We'll keep following your twists and turns as you check out a great area
@Paul Bergen, your description of the interior of the depot reminds me of our former Norfolk & Western train station in my city, except it had an N&W emblem in the floor tile
@@charlottecunningham2141 thanks for the info was not aware of that. That's like I enjoyed finding some Old Bridge abutments that had the railroads emblem embossed in the concrete. Some had color like the B&O one near Springfield IL with a blue and white Capitol emblem while there is a plain PRR keystone emblem near Kankakee IL. I never found any near me in Wisconsin just painted advertisements. Speaking of N&W a friend mentioned that when they took over the Wabash The Division office in Decatur IL had a large floor emblem in the tile and the New Management wanted it gone. After the management staff left for Roanoke they didn't remove the tiles but rather made sure they always had big floor mats laid out in that area whenever the top brass were coming. I'm not sure if that building is even standing at this late date but it is humorous
Great video. Coal train needs flange greaser. Cool 2 engines pulling and pushing. Thanks for sharing
Cool video fall colors are great it's pretty neat that you can get them spur lines back in the woods like that tracks in pretty good shape the way he was moving thank you keep them coming
Let's all record these beautiful old steel trestles while they're still around. They like to replace 'em with cheaper, open spans.
Maybe the best series of Jawtooth videos ever.
If you are ever on Rt 60 east of Charleston WV there is an overlook at Hawks Nest WV that looks way down on the New River.
When Amtrak passes through there along the river it looks like a model train.
I have stopped there when passing through for 50 years and never tire of it.
That was the return train from Hinton, WV. There was a street event there for 4 days. Lots of fun.
Boy - your last two vlogs have shown the beauty of the fall season and how many people travel to look at it - having lived in the Lowcountry of South Carolina for the last 20+ years i do miss that beauty while growing up in SW Michigan - it's fun seeing you amongst the crowds instead of being the lone railfan - thank you for all of your work getting these online for us to watch
I live in the low country of S.C. Pete
Grew up in Byrnes Downs. The greenway is where the train used to run behind my house.
It's nice in Michigan
I’m in Kzoo. It is very beautiful after living in San Diego for 56 years.
Merci beaucoup pour cette très belle vidéo ! 🌟👍Thank you very much! 🙏
That Amtrak horn sounded like a steam engine's. That was very cool
Beautiful train cars and autumn foliage.
Great video and cool passenger train and bridge keep up the good work God bless from GA and stay safe
You always have great videos. I check them out daily.
There's just something special about a train going across a bridge. Nice catch 🏆
Wow, this was awesome. The shot of the coal train on the bridge coming straight toward the camera was so cool. JT you really go all out to get the great shots. WV is really beautiful for sure and a great place for railfans!
ruclips.net/video/aPfR-nZobzs/видео.html
That Amtrak manifest was the best in a very long time. Plus the scenery with the Fall leaves! You're rockin' it JawTooth!
The shadows on that CSX crossing the bridge were awesome
Awesome video Brian. What a cool area
Thanks 👍
The coal train you asked about had 75 cars in it. On the same train, I caught a detail I'd never noticed before - on the DPUs, they were marked as DPUs. On the fronts, just barely on the sides, they were marked with "DP" in circles.
Ride my motorcycle thru there pretty regular. Gotta love the sound of the train whistle bouncing between the hills and hollers of West Virginia
Cool art deco train station! That Amtrak New River Train has to be one of the longest passenger trains I've ever seen with only passenger coaches. Prince, West Virginia is an interesting location to film trains with its cool train station, trestle, and tunnel. Nice catches!
I always thought it was something a little bit newer than art deco.
Lovely video of fall in WV, with a bonus of some great trains in the scene. The Amtrak passenger train is a real treat with 18 cars that's a real passenger train! Must be a very special ride in the fall with the trees in all their glory.
I made it 75 cars on the first train and 83 on the second empty coal train. That second train was a great catch well worth the run from the car!
Beautiful Amtrak train with the vintage cars and cool tressel train catch. Awesome finds as usual!!
Thank you very much!
Great weather.Great scenery.Great shots of trains to boot.
The fall scenery is gorgeous. Great locations, great job. That one train was singing. Awesome trains. Thank you for your hard work my friend. Have a great weekend
Great video and really cool trestle
Awesome video JT almost heaven W. Virginia the Amtrak. And the coal trains great job. 👍👌👍👌😇🇺🇸
Thanks 👍
Very cool location Jawtooth! Really cool seeing passenger train's there in WV! I can't understand why there's no passenger train service in my area anymore, I'm sure they'd get lots of business. Great video! Thanks for sharing!
Nice catch of the Autumn Colors Express going back to Huntington, West Virginia at the Prince, West Virginia Amtrak station, Jaw Tooth! That empty coal train going back to the mines looked great, winding its way through that trestle over the river. That was a long train. You just made it to a good viewing place to catch that second empty coal train as it was entering the tunnel! Thank you for capturing these trains and for downloading them to your RUclips channel!
Ok thanks!
Thanks Jaw Tooth, this was one of your best videos, with fall colors included. Very awesome place to film trains.
Thank you very much!
Super good one. Great passenger train. That was a great angle on the CSX coal train crossing the river too. Lots of railfans out and about. Cool location on the last train too. Thanks.
Thank you very much!
Great video JT! Thats some beautiful country the trains run through. 👍👍
Thanks 👍
As they say here in south central Puebla, México...
What a beautiful state - autumn trees make those trains colors pop!
Now that was a sight to behold, such beautiful passenger cars!
Great Video, Many Thanks Jaw tooth! God Bless and keep you safe!
Trains are more interesting there than in Croatia, which is where I am. That's because we don't have trains as such. There's no proper infrastructure. No MOW.
If you look closely , much of this infrastructure is old and rusty , not all but much needs done .
Is was 1902 , I remember you on the train. Same shirt. Thanks again for your upload.
I can't think of a better way to see fall foliage than from a train with skyliners (or whatever they are called). Great catch on the empty coal train. It looks like something changed on your camera - it dropped out of HD somehow. Still very cool :)
Thank you very much! I was out of focus. I jumped out too quick and didn't have time to get in focus. I just noticed that
@@JawTooth You were in a hurry to catch that train so, it's understandable :)
@@FabianDiazTrainsTrucksNCars Man, was I lucky to get that! That branch runs to 3 coal load outs and the local rail fans told me about the train coming up the branch. I waited there for over an hour and I was starting to wonder if they were right that it was taking the branch. They said they were 90 percent sure so I stuck it out and got lucky. That is one heck of a cool place to be. Check it out on Google Maps if you have time. My cellphone wouldn't work in the hills there
Great video JT; beautiful train and train station. Thanks!
That train station is neat. The landscape is beautiful around it too! That was long for an Amtrak train. I saw the short on this one the other day. That was a good shot on that curved bridge. You always find the best places. Great video!
There was 75 cars & 4 engines, but the squeal of the wheels on the rails should have been taken to a movie studio, that sound was so eerie that it gave me shivers!! It would have fit right in with an alien or horror movie! Wonderful video, You always put so much extra in your videos, I love them!
WV has so much beautiful scenery, thanks to you I get to enjoy it. Years ago I used to drive thru WV headed to Ga. It was always during the summer months I thought the greenery was pretty and luscious than, but the fall season takes it to another level.
Both of your videos on the Amtrak Fall Special in West Virginia are magnificently beautiful and chock full of action! Thank you so much for these!
Glad you like them!
My dad grew up down the road in Quinnimont at the rail yard. Thanks for bringing up some great memories JT.
Very cool!
Greetings From The Uk - very iteresting vid of a small staion
Awesome catch with CSX train going over the trestle. Cool shot of CSX Double DPU as well!
The switching going was a couple miles east of Prince Station at the Quinomont yard. My great grandfather worked for C&0 in the 1920s thru early 1940s so did a couple great uncles
Very great video my friend! I liked it, beautiful place, I liked of the bridge 🤩🤩Have a nice weekend!
Thank you! You too!
Thank you for the fantastic video of the train passing by the Prince Station, I grew up in the area in the late 50's and my Dad would take me to this station to watch the C & O passenger trains pass by. This station was new at the time and your video brings back memories. I look forward to and enjoy watching your videos every day. Steve G
I did some research on the Prince Station and it was opened in 1946. It looked new to me as a child in 1957 and I always looked forward to going by it and the railroad yard at Quinnimont one mile to the east of the station. The rail line you filmed crossing the bridge goes to Beckley WV where there is a small rail yard and a few branch lines to mines.
@@steveg8195 My dad grew up at the rail yard in Quinnimont, my grand parents ran the general store in the 40's-60's. Was the tunnel JT filmed called Stretchers Neck?
Cool passenger cars! Love the Hiawatha and NYC paint schemes. Great old school style video!
Great video as always Sir.
Jaw you hit the jack pot with the supper cool catching of a real modern day original train
Wow, another awesome video JT! Great passenger and freight action, and neat how you inserted fellow RUclipsr with your trademark saying, "But wait, there's more 😀!" Prince is also a stop for one of my favorite trains, the Amtrak Cardinal. Neat that they get a stop when they have a population of about 17!
Awesome video
Railroad history Shout out to Mrs JawTooth
Great Fall color
Awesome passenger train! Are they called private cars?? Norfie❤️
Great video, JT. Love seeing the different filming angles and the difference landscapes where they have the railroads going through.
Hy Jaw Tooth ..
Kereta api di sana sangat panjang sekali, sekali tarik tiga Lokomotif
I counted 18 cars on the 1st train. That is a lot of cars on a passenger train these days.
Reading and Northern 2102 5500 Hp.steam locomotive usually pulls 19 cars. Some times they pull coal cars with it.
@@BeeLineEast I’m referring to the size of a passenger train especially these days. Im pretty sure the private cars are not normal for that train. I’m sure our Mikado could pull those 18 cars too and probably there in WV, unless there are extremely steep grades. Our only grade in the New Orleans area or southern Louisiana is the Huey P. Long Bridge over the Mississippi River just a few miles up river from New Orleans.
It is normal in India. Typically 20 cars including an auxiliary power car. And a single loco.
@@billmorris2613 The area where the 2102 operates is mountainous also. Coal regions of Pennsylvania. Some areas are fairly steep. There are quite a few videos on RUclips on this locomotive.
My dad was from West Virginia. He told me to always be careful around railroad tracks in the state. He said the state makes sure that nothing and no body will stop or slow down coal shipments. Absolutely no speed limits or restrictions on coal trains.
Another fine production my good man this one made ya work for it but we in the far reaches do appreciate your going above and beyond for us.
Great video Jawtooth, but that Amtrak didn’t stop for all of those people waiting.
Two long freights! Passenger was nice also. Enjoy the week ahead, Mike. See you on the next!
Thanks 👍
That was awesome JT, that was a ‘monster’ Amtrak lol, lots of cool cars are that one. Those empty coals were awesome, especially the double DPU 💪🏼. Looks like there were quite a few other railroad enthusiasts there, must be a popular spot. Have a great weekend JT👍🏼😁🇺🇸
Another absolutely beautiful Fall video.
Well, that does it!! I'm moving to Prince, West Virginia. I'm a-gonna' buy that old railroad station and make it into my new home. See that chimney? I'll have me a blazing fire going on there all winter.........
Well, not really. But the places you are taking us in your videos are sure interesting, Brian. Thanks again for another great one!
Awesome video! I was on that Autumn Colors Express/New River Train. The New River Gorge sure is beautiful.
It sure is!
Awesome colors, love those bridges!
Thanks again Jawtooth.
Thank you too!
Love the sound of those engines!
super cool vid sir, love the "I don't even really know where I am!" bit at the end. Really beautiful railroading country there with the hills, forests, cool bridges, that really neat station, etc.
Thank you very much!
That was a beautiful bunch of cars on that Amtrak.
Prince Train Station was built by the Chesapeake & Ohio in 1947 during its Pre-Modernization era and for the ill-fated Chessie Steam Turbine passenger service. The station and the tunnel both feature this Pre-Modernization appearance. The station is one of the last of it's kind that still has C&O lettering and Chessie logos.
I love the scenery there with the mountains. We are in the flatlands here in Jersey Pine Barrens. That Amtrack train really has some cool looking cars on it. 75 on that coal train after the Amtrack. 83 on the next one that went into the tunnel.
Coming from a country where 90% of trains are passenger it’s great to see freight trains on your videos, subscribed
Thanks for the sub!
I took AMTRACK from Cleveland to DC. Went through Pittsburgh. The view was spectacular. Only problem, you have to be at the Cleveland station at 4:00am.
Another awesome video Jaw tooth. I caught the Loram in Carlisle last night the video will be out at 3 today.
Awesome! I want to see that
Trestle build date was around 1899? Happy to see Milwaukee Road and Northern Pacific coaches on the Amtrak.
Hello Jaw🙂 your channel followers enjoy seeing big boy Amtrak locos like this one.they see it as one of your best original train catches I bet.
You keep finding these amazing locations, just awesome.
Great 👍 video JT really a neat C&O station over there in Prince ! We just saw that Amtrak operation lifesaver engine on September 24 in Fullerton,Ca. along with Santa Fe 3751 steam train ! Great 👍 locations today the bridge & tunnel was neat keep up with your great work JT ! 👨✈️😊😎👍🌞🤩🎩🙋🏻
Thanks!
Jaw tooth and that's cool rail road bridge ❤ 😊
Amazing videos Jaw Tooth keep up the good work
Yet another pleasant video on my week off. You are so prolific with your videos J.T. that I can't watch them all with life's commitments, but it's good to know they are there when I am able. The Prince station looked like a 50s dinner about to see a waitress on roller skates. Love the old refurbished Pullman cars. Beautiful train in a beautiful autumn area. Happy Friday Jawtooth!
Glad you like them! I appreciate your support so if you have time I have the videos. Lol
Art deco station way too Kool....great catch jt . We to are warm ..60 f way up north ...enjoy weekend
Thanks 👍
Love the new locations, fall colors, and of course the trains. I’ve seen the Prince
Station in other videos too, it’s a cool looking station. Nice looking Amtrak train as well, don’t see many that long.
Them coal trains were awesome too. Thanks for sharing JT. Absolutely loved it.👍🏼😎🍁🍁
Oh I missed you by two days at Thurmond I was there on 10/24 messing around I live just 10 minutes from there.
3 trains very amazing...the best option to close this october...so good!!!!!
Happy halloween!!!!
🇱🇷🚂♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I love watching your videos,
and you weren't joking about
"THE LONGEST PASSENGER TRAIN".
The biggest "AMTRAK" I have ever seen here in
(FORT WORTHLESS TX)
("THE TEXAS EAGLE", which goes from
"LOS ANGELES - CHICAGO"),
was "8 PASSENGER CARS, with a AMTRAK LOCOMOTIVE on both ends".
I spent 5 days in Fort Worth. Had a motel with a view of the trains. Yes, that was a good passenger train for sure. I have also filmed the Auto Train which is longer but it has a lot of auto racks on it so I don't know if that counts. I think trains with engines on both ends are cool. They are called Top & Tail trains in the UK.
What an awesome video. Superb and beautiful locations and some great trains. One of your very best, JT 👍
Thank you so much 😀
Absolutely love the trestle 😍
Good job! Keep running after those trains!
tks I've Been waiting long time for u to film a beautiful passenger train like that! yeehah
Can you show Chesie and Norfie first before the trains next time ? 😂😂 (just kidding)
That station and the area around it car traffic wise looks dead except for your truck and you in the opening of the video living wise I'd not mind the trains hope you have a great week jawtooth
