- John Fogerty sings "Deja Vu All Over Again," live, acoustic version, 2008.
Personal insults and/or foul language tend to make these discussions fall apart, so I will need to delete any such posts in the future.
How unfortunate that our prior "leaders" have put us in the position of having to live through the Vietnam experience yet again... plus turning a bunch of innocent people into victims.

That voice is not of this world. Fogerty is a legend.
to me 1 of his best songs ever still sends chills down my spine and tears in my eyes in 2016 as a grown man on 43
same here dennis. John knows whats up.
The Vietnam era had a tradition of our greatest music artists being the heart and conscience of America. That has sadly passed, and here is Fogerty doing for popular music what the new guard should be doing. I guess though, he is uniquely qualified, given his perspective.
December 2022, I played this at our annual talent show and won first place. I surprised myself when I saw my recording.
I love John Fogerty. He and CCR is my most favorite artist/band, ever. And I mean it. The songs all have so much meaning, feeling, and emotion. He helped me get through my tougher times.
He rocks and will always be my favorite.
Always.
Could really give a $h1+ less if you “mean it”
God bless you John, and thank you God for giving us John Fogerty.
I love this tune. One man one guitar. No auto-tune and bunch of back tracks here. A real music man. I feel sorry for kids today. Heart and soul is gone from commercial radio vomit.
You Nailed it Paul.
This man is unbelievable. So many of his songs give me goosebumps. They are magic.
Great song. Sadly it seems, all anyone would have to do is change the year and this song still would be appropriate for what continues to go on in the world!
This is, in my own humble opinion, one of the greatest anti-senseless songs I have had the pleasure to hear. Along with Elvis' If I Could Dream and Cyrus' Some Gave All. These songs express what we all think and wish for, peace and harmony. WW1 was the war to end all wars, well that went awry somewhere. I long for the day when, no matter what your religion, colour, or sexual orientation, we can ALL live in harmony and respect.
God bless all who defend ALL our freedoms.
This is one of the greatest singer and rigther of all time !!!!
Never more relevant or poignant than today, John Fogertys songs are just sublime! Love it!
Wow..After all these Years,John still has a great voice and he looks great for his age!!!
One of the finest songwriters indeed!!!!
Beautiful song. Truely a powerful Classic from a man with an amazing career.
John is so right about this. It is unbelievable that this nation is doing Vietnam all over again with the many young people sacrificing their beautiful lives for an endless, no win war. I'm a VN vet, and thought the US had learned from the horrible days of VN. ALWAYS SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BUT DON"T KILL THEM WITH OUR LOVE> GET THEM OUT!!!!
John Fogerty has always made a good case with his words against poor young men going off to fight rich politicians' wars. Bless you, John. I wish that more would listen.
He's right, most wars made by rich people.. Right on John
John's Voice still sounds as good 40 years later!!
One man, One guitar and a Wolrd wide song. He is just The king
There aren't many people in this world that can take a few basic and common chords and come up with something like this...
This man was the first voice in my childhood and at 47, I still listen to him every day, eve though I am a heavy metal artist.
Vietnam Remembered, Lest They Be Forgotten.
That voice... gives me goosebumps when he starts to sing.
One of the best songs he's ever written.
Why do you think anyone cares about your opinion?
I am 56 and grew up during the Viet Nam War.I can still remember sitting in front of our TV with my Mom and Dad watching all the service men being shot and killed....How my Mom and Dad were SO worried that I would have to go.I grew up disliking war realizing that there was a lot of greed and wealth made from wars and that the middle class paid the cost in human life for many elite to get rich from.... many will disagree with this statement, but do your homework. War is a money making machine...
The military industrial complex must perpetuate itself
One of the great song and one of the best singer JOHN FOGERTY, ever! Thank you JOHN FOGERTY FOR YOUR EXISTANCE. GOD BLESS YOU!
HAPPY 70TH BIRTHDAY JOHN FOGERTY Many blessings to you
@dosgoat I'd seen John a few times. The first couple times, I was working concert security in San Francisco for the biggest concert promoter in the world...Bill Graham. then as a stagehand in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The latter was when John performed this song and had tears comming from my eyes. I have a son who is 34 yrs old and though he's still alive, I've not seen him since he was 5 months old, thanks to his mother. I still try to find him to this day. God Bless you!!!
unmistakable voice..... simple, catchy, effective melodies... poignant lyrics...
well done, John
John Fogerty is America.
I saw John Fogerty at the PNC Arts Center, Holmdel NJ... played this song with the video in background. You could hear a PIN DROP it was so quiet of the audience. Also, John Mellencamp was touring with him that night.
I grew up on CCR! love this man's song writing and music, @SR - Our "Leaders" today have done little more than sell us out, The Wars Continue, More Troops and Innocents are dying, The Economy is anemic, the Corporations enjoy more access to our politicians than ever..... New Boss, Same as the old Boss...... We need more voices like John's, to rage against the machines.......
there were those of us who dared to dream of a world beyond war. for me, that dream ended Sept. 11.
This song stands on its own, and I second David Speigner 's comments. I listened to with new ears tonite after reading Lynne Margolis 'excellent May 28,, 2013, Extended Interview with Fogerty on American Songwriter and the circumstances of his writing this song. Mighty powerful stuff, the song and its birth;. Fogerty can barely acknowledge credit for writing the song. From what he sez,; he basically just serves as a conduit for the song to write itself, as if it had been waiting in the mystic just for him. And thru him, we are enriched, thru his marvelous expression of the sentiments we share.
Fantastic! Nobody does it like John Fogerty. Things go around and around, just like deja vu all over again... We might have heard it all before, but it's well worth listening to.
Truly a beautiful song.
Did you hear 'em talkin' 'bout it on the radio
Did you try to read the writing on the wall
Did that voice inside you say I've heard it all before
It's like deja vu all over again
Day by day I hear the voices rising
Started with a whisper like it did before
Day by day we count the dead and dying
Ship those bodies home while the networks all keep score
Did you hear 'em talkin' 'bout it on the radio
Could your eyes believe the writing on the wall
Did that voice inside you say I've heard it all before
It's like deja vu all over again
One by one I see the old ghosts rising
Stumblin' 'cross Big Muddy
Where the light gets dim
Day after day another Mamma's crying
She's lost her precious child
To a war that has no end
Did you hear 'em talkin' 'bout it on the radio
Did you stop to read the writing at the wall
Did that voice inside you say
I've seen this all before
It's like deja vu all over again
It's like deja vu all over again
I've been playing this over and over and over...
...don't have real music on the radio or tv anymore. Thanks for posting
John was the lead man in the #1 band in America in 1968, and THE MAN when he went solo. He's like the Rod Serling of music. No one will ever have the influence of these two great men.
i love the guy. it's sad he had to go through this twice. it would be bs if i guy my age wrote this, but he can sing it with authority. he's been a protester twice!
man...i love this song...very meaningful..yes
Deep. His tour was great.
If we don't learn from our mistakes we are destined to repeat them.
Thanks John - tell em' like it is! Sometimes we just seem bound and determined to go round and round again.
i first heard this song at my sister's 8th grade graduation, sung by one of her classmate as he played it too. it was awesome and it took me forever to find this there are so many songs titled Deja Vu
$h1+ story
Sadly, most still do not get this vital message. Peace, Love, and Tolerant people are the minority of the minority.
in this days i am really hoping there will be peace on this world :(
Beautiful song with such a strong message in there 👍
Very appropriate today.
Sadly.
Great song.
Great man.

Another Great Song John ***** Stars
Damn good! Greatest voice ever!! thanx!
There is no greater artist!
Dual meaning. Both the memorial and taking what went before as a warning.
what a song... you cant beat it
@KUNGfuPANDA0001 he is referring to the idea the wars were planned out before there was a need for it. ie.. "he was going to get rid of the old clunker the writing was on the wall"
What a legend this guy is.. long live the Fogerty!!
thank you so much for this video
Army Wives brought me here!! :)
Amo essa canção

Amen Brother ... You are spot on my friend!!
Thank you for your service to our country.
you are BEST !
Excellent !!! tout simplement ...
@dosgoat I can't even imagine that kind of loss, I have a lot of respect for those who are so dedicated to fight in what they believe in. The pain for so many families who are feeling the same type of loss. Bless you.
I saw him years ago on his tour with Willee Nelson. I held back tears, at a rock show, for the first time ever. Once the video showed soldiers in Afghanistan, I lost my shit. My cousin was the only survivor of an IED attack. Not a scratch on him, but his whole platoon was killed. He lives every fucking day of his life, asking questions that can't be answered. " Why did I survive"? I have no answer for him. You're a great guy, a good dad, an honest person, you love God,etc. His answer is always the same: " so was this one, and that one, and that one, and that one", after a bit I told him, I don't know why you're still here, we all owe a death after being born, who knows, maybe you die after having a " good time" in a hot tub with a female vollyball team. He laughed. He's still alive, and his last message to me was, " I'm ok, thanks for the support in my down time, but I'm enjoying being alive, but I'm going nowhere near a women's vollyball team.
Awesome!..John Fogarty Rules
There are members of the 'new guard' doing it, but none of them seem to have just the right touch, like he (still) does.
This song is a companion piece with Fortunate Son, part of which talks about the lucky ones who avoided serving in Vietnam if their father was a senator.
The common denominator in both songs is George W Bush.
This is how I feel about yesterday--February 6, 2018 in my life. That every thought, hope I had is being reshot into the stratosphere. Deja vu all over again. Groundhog Day--Weird.
FABULOUS, BABY!!! ㋡
@fa0798 - I think I'm largely an Independent. I do have strong feelings that the invasion of Iraq was ill-advised, and I do see (negative) parallels between that and our involvement in Vietnam.
totally agree with you there.. not only a excellent guitar player n singer, but he is himself, n not copying some other's image.. by the way, this is the first time i hear this song, n i realize i haven't lived until now... words can't explain how great this song is..
Sublime !
Não conhecia essa musica dele, mas vi no vídeo de um Show e adorei...é muito linda!!!
Top
Makes me think of him
John ! 😊
I love the best song
If you don't like Mr. Fogerty's editorial, then don't listen to the song!
John Friggin Fogerty!!! One of the GREATEST EVER!! the youth of today listen to shit like Bieber Bitch and other untalented crap and don't know what it means to listen to music that comes from the heart and soul!!!!!!!!!!!! What a friggin shame!!!

Cool song
John is refering to the Viet Nam War and the Iraq War. He is Great NOW as he was in the 60's. Saw John &CCR Live in 1971 after I got back fron Nan. Saw him again live 3 years ago. He is NOT an oldies act, still fresh and relevant. GO SEE HIM LIVE IF YOU GET THE CHANCE!!!!
