I always get a chuckle when you say “…and we have clearence”. It reminds me of the old Airplane movie 😁 “Do we have clearence, Clarence? Roger, Roger!” Beautiful bowl! Regards Lars
Hi Phil... I haven't seen you in a while I was worried... Maybe it's my U-tube programmer...or something... I've been dealing with PTSD and cancer and have started my new chemo treatments yesterday for now 3 years I have to do it... But I'm so glad you are doing well and it's so great to watch you again... it's peaceful and hearing you talk feels like an old friend... Best regards always...
Oh my gosh, Robin! It's good to see you back but I'm so sorry you have these health challenges. I will be thinking positive thoughts for you, I hope your journey is smooth and short. Please hang in there, you have a lot more living to do! 😊
Thanks, Gord. Thought Phil should have a nice piece of black walnut as a treat, so that is what I sent! Sometimes it is nice to have a chunk of wood that does not fight back. 🤪🤣🤣🤣
Ooh, swirls of dark and milk chocolate, my favorite! It really is a gorgeous bowl, actually a work of art. The shapes on the bottom of the bowl are very attractive.
Hi 👋, Phil from Phil, the idea of live edge wood turning you never get the same result, always looks different, and always looks amazing, Phil from the moulin France.
@@PhilAndersonShadyAcresWoodshop Hi 👋 Phil, what is the biggest live edge turning have managed, and you turn on the outside of your lathe, About 2 years ago I tried to turn on the out side of my Wadkin, it was live edge, 28”D , it took me about 2 days just to flatten one side, I still have not finished it yet, as it was still wet, there is a English guy, he turns a lot of wall art, he as the same lathe as me Wadkin RS8 , these are normally used for pattern making, and it is possible to remove part of the bed to give you a bigger swing over the bed, they are very heavy as well made of Cast Iron . I hope you are all having a great weekend, I look 👀 forward to seeing your next live edge art project. Phil from the moulin France
@@philvale5724 I can't turn outboard on my lathe because I have it set up with both ends blocked. The largest I have turned is the capacity over the bed ways and that's 18".
We have two humongous walnut trees that were blown down in recent storms. I would love to send you anything you want. Great job as always on the piece 👌
Wow, those must have been some storms, James! I'd love some Walnut! You can reach me at the email address on my About tab using a computer, not a phone. It won't show with a phone. 😊
Hi Phil, I’m in Ireland this week with family. All four of us watched your vid. Absolutely fantastic piece. Your the man. All the best, looking forward to the next. Enjoy your weekend. 👍🏻
Phil, my husband and I love watching your videos. Your work is beautiful ! We are brand new to turning, have his and her lathes and have learned so much from you. 😊
I particularly like this one. I love Black Walnut. We have them growing everywhere here in Western Pennsylvania. Had you ever seen worm holes in Black Walnut wood. I hadn’t ever. The beauty of the wood is stunning. ❤
I live in the mountains of NC. I feel blessed to have access to so much black walnut. I'd say 4 out of the 5 nicest bowls I've ever made have been black walnut.
As usual a great bowl and instructional video Phil. I would like you to turn these bowls 180 degrees, ie top is bottome and bottom top. Leave the top as a squarish shape and drop down into a bowl. Leave natural edge on 2 sides and sawn edges on other 2. I do most of my bowls like that. All in all Phil you are the master though, good job.
Phil you are right that is one delicious looking bowl. The round feature from a branch is super cool. Just plain ole perfect! Shoot i started a Black Walnut bowl this morning and now wish I could start over after watching this. I thought I would make it easy on myself by not doing a live edge. Did not work out that way and now I am tired and have a plain old bowl to sand LOL. Well at least it is Black Walnut. Great job buddy! Gary
To top of a nothing but fun day I was having today I decided to lower the windows on my Dodge Ram as it is getting hot. I was created by a swarm of yellow jackets. Only got stung once on my elbow. And I still did not get the windows down. It is pretty dang hot down here in Ore Gone. As the people on the other side of our states say. It is OreGun...and don't ask me why LOL. Just how we say it. Sorry must be the meds I took for the sting LOL
This is the epitome of bowl turning. The wood is beautiful. The bowl is simple. Your turning is great, and the finish is flawless. As turnings go, this may have been one of the most problem free. But the simplicity lets every feature of the walnut, the bark, the grain, the knot, even the square edges. Just beautiful Phil.
An example of the KISS principal Keep It Simple Silly love the form, and color of black walnut and love turning it though I prefer an oil finish yours are just as beautiful keep on turning em out
Just watched a older video thought it was the present one. So got to enjoy twice as much tonight. Beautiful bowl enjoy walnut just as much as junk wood. Keep up the good work and amazing work.

Me too! 😀
Another amazing piece with a very special feature.
