This Drum track was the reason i started playing drums. Big part of my childhood and teenage years.
good for you pal!!🥁🥁🥁
Peter Criss ‘76 for me!!!🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁
Same
Love the dancing of the trombonist in the background
He was so loose and comfortable with this track and so accurate to the nuances of the part, I'd have guessed he was the original drummer
Cyrus is still one of my all time fave drummers
Much appreciated.
I remember in the “Story so Far” dvd, which I still have, he shows the sticks he was using at the time. Can’t remember what they were, maybe Vater or Vic Firth, but they said “shit end of stick” on the grip end. Wish I could have gotten one at a show back in the day. I wonder does he still play them.
Im so glad im finally watching someone play this song with 8th notes on the hi hats. It's so damn frustrating seeing everyone else use quarter notes
But here in the vídeo, It doesn't sound like 8.
@@willianisfran7522 yes it does. 1/8th notes are two per beat. count as 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and. see 2:33
I know I am pretty off topic but do anybody know of a good place to watch new movies online?
I don't see motives to play 8th notes when you use opened hi hats, only when closed.
@@willianisfran7522 It's because the hats are so open.
That opening fill is a tricky one. He just nails it like it's nothing. Huge fan of Cyrus and NFG.
Thanks! Funny you talk about that fill, as there are plenty of shows where Feldmann would want me to start the song (with the fill and then the drum beat, like on the record), but he would then talk to the crowd, and literally at any moment, would introduce the song by name (say "This song's called Superman!") and he would want me to immediately start the song over with the fill...like no waiting for a bar to end or anything like that, just launching right into that fill. I think from doing that a whole bunch, that fill just became second nature for me.
@@CyrusBolooki I don't even own a set of drums and I am impressed by how you nail that fill everytime. Thanks for the amazing music my friend 🤘😎🤘
Was this song in one of the Burnout series?
@@dbmdrums1105 it was in tony hawk pro skater
Actually it's pretty easy. But it's amazingly cool. Yet easy. Any proper drummer would agree.
it's just so satisfying to hear and watch that 16th notes on the ride with a pinch of accent on the bell at 1:56🔥
Wow, Cyrus REALLY got into playing this! I thought the hats were going to come off their stand at one point.
Top dude and sick drummer. Stopped and chatted to our drummer backstage (despite clearly being busy) after this show about cymbals and made his day!!
Love the sound of that snare! Excellent playing 11/10
Damn that looks so much fun
It is...believe me.
drum cams never get boring
what a solid performance, cheers!
So Cooooooooooool!!!!!!!!!!
So many legends on stage
This shows how much fun and understated drums are! Nice
Damn, you are such an inspiring drummer dude... From the moment I first heard NFG, I knew youz were amazing... And with your talent (and calories) burning behind the drums, its not hard to see why!!
You're too kind...thank you!
Great song, great band, great drummer can't wait for the next show !! Greetings from PSL👽🤟
Amazing!!!
Superman with cyrus and mike...so sick
I remember watching you guys live during the Drive-Thru tour as a teen. Now I’m 35, married with three kids(15, 11 and 4)
I still blast NFG to this day. I bought the dvd The story so Far when it first came out, and have watched it with my boys. Now they see where I’ve picked up being a damn weirdo from.
I'm not sure there's any song other than this that so perfectly encapsulates early high school for me.
Early high school? Lol try 55 years old! Talk about feeling younger in your mind... there’s a lot of times my mind says “I can do that! No problem...” but then my body says, “Do you really want to live with another new pain everyday for the rest of your life?” Lol...
side note, It’s also why older guys are always being called “creepy” by younger women for checking them out... it’s because we still think and feel like 21 year olds in our minds!
Hermosa interpretación! Te felicito 🤘❤
Hands down one of my favorite punk\pop punk drummers Cyrus if your reading this I appreciate you man!!!!!
Thank you!
Brixton Academy is awesome! Only been there once but it was huge!
Awesome performance
I always thought I'd be a better drummer but guitar comes so much more naturally, it's the most Expressive instrument I think.
That was a great gig!
Great!!!
Awesome Cyrus! This one is an anthem for all skaters/gamers/hardcore-ska kids around the globe.
Totally!
this is my youth in summary, MxPx Bass, New Found Glory drummer playing Tony Hawk Pro skater soundtrack with Goldfinger
SO sick!!! Hope my endurance gets like that soon
Tempo is impeccable. 💪
No shit, uploading a video from a gig I was at?! You smashed it that night.
Killed it man
So peeeeerfect! Good job man!
Legend
That must have been awesome to fill in on drums for the Goldfinger!
Always!
I’m always impressed with how jacked drummers can get.
Great song, great drumming. Cheers from Ecuador! Salud, bro!
You killed it cyrus
💣💣🔥🔥
Amei !!!
Cyrus, youre a machine! I'd love to see a drum cam of "Black and Blue". My favourite nfg drum track from my favourite album of all time!
ruclips.net/video/YTYfC-tri54/видео.html ask and ye shall receive…if the link doesn’t work, search my videos, I posted a “Black and Blue” drum cam video a little while ago
Man, that was super solid! Nice job. Was gonna ask what sticks you use - but then I read the video description. Hahahaha.
Can't wait to see more vids from ya!
fuck yeah!
keep blessing us with more drum cams!
Will do. Got another one coming this (and hopefully every) Monday!
Oh hell yes! I was at Brixton that night. Epic set, and epic pit. My 35 year old ankle took a battering during Open Your Eyes. Pretty much fractured it 😬. Totally worth it 😁🤘
Definitely an awesome show. Hope your ankle is ok lol
Cyrus Bolooki , thanks so much Cyrus. Much better thank you 👍😁
There was a study done over long periods of time with the drummer of Blondie, and they found that the average rock drummer, during a performance, burns the same amount of calories as a professional soccer player. So it's no surprise the drummer's burnt 1700 calories while the bassist/singer is still under 1000.
Fuck that was cool. Keep em coming, Cyrus.
Mike hererra and cyrus in goldfinger... OMG
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater
Top
Crispy snare
Anyone else feeling oddly mesmerised by the hi hats spinning around and around as they are played?
I've always had that problem with Goldfinger. You can't play those songs without smashing on the hats!
@@CyrusBolooki and this one in particular is very cymbal heavy....such a great snappy snare sound you have there too
Literally thought this was Stevo on the drums for like 30 seconds 😂
interesting. you played with all the bands i love.
So crazy that MIKExPx is their bassist now 🤩
It's awesome, and I always have the best time jamming with him and hanging with him. Honored to call him a friend and have spent so much time with him! MxPx rules!
35,000 points in the first seconds
Did you play the full set with Goldfinger? If so, please Post more Goldfinger bro!!
700 calories? You must have been 2 songs in. What’s it like to play with Mike Herrera, Phil Sneed, and John Feldmann? With you there, it’s like a who’s who show!
Actually, I think I said 1700 calories, but who's counting hahaha!?!
I love jamming with these dudes...great musicians, great people, and it's so fun to play a whole bunch of songs that I loved listening to when I was growing up!
@@CyrusBolooki Cyrus you are one of my favorite drummers. I actually met you outside of a show in Cincinnati one time and you and Jordan autographed my ticket but I lost it at some point over the years. Lol
Dude it's so cool seeing you play with fuckin Goldfinger!!
I'm extremely surprised.
Hey Cyrus, are you still using the K Custom Hybrid China? Regardless, whatever you are using is one of the best sounding cymbals I have ever heard! Also, any chance for a “Never Give Up” video?
Yeah, still using the K Hybrid Custom, but with Goldfinger I usually go for the 18" A Custom China or this Oriental just to change it up (just like how I'm using a different ride than usual, a 22" A Custom Ping Ride for this versus a 21" A Custom 20th Anniversary ride for NFG).
Both the K Hybrid Custom and the Oriental Chinas are amazing; the Oriental is a little brighter and the K Custom has a little more body, which is why I lean towards that nowadays. Although at the end of my last NFG tour I messed around with the A Ultra Hammered China and it was SIIIICK!!!
So, that might have become my new favorite...we'll have to wait and see hahaha
Your ride sounds amazing here, buddy. Which brand is it?
It's a Zildjian 22" A Custom Ping Ride. I love it for Goldfinger. It's a bit much to crash on, but it's super loud and has a great bell and ride sound that cuts through anything!
How often do you not use an ear piece?? Always solid man!! This video makes me happy!!
I use in-ears with NFG as much as possible. With Goldfinger I rarely (if ever) use in-ears because I’m usually just there for a show or two, and since it’s never a tour and just a random festival or show there’s no need to have all of this extra gear to lug around or setup...just go old school and plug in, turn up to 11, and rock! (Of course while wearing regular ear plugs to protect my hearing...or what’s left of it hahaha)
@@CyrusBolooki Hey Cyrus, just going off your reply here, does that mean you weren't even playing to a click? If so, your body metronome is impressive dude!
@@spantney you nailed it! No click for this band (or with NFG). In the studio, it’s one thing...but live, I love the ability to push and pull with the crowd and with my adrenaline, and bands like NFG and Goldfinger in my opinion sound better when that can happen. Thanks for noticing!
@@CyrusBolooki That's super refreshing to see, as someone at your level to play without one. Usually modern productions are full of backing tracks and the like so it seems to be increasingly rare. I totally know what you mean about the push and pull. If I play without a click, our singer usually complains that our songs turn into a rap because I get a bit too excitable and maybe play a touch too quickly 🤣 Thanks for the reply Cyrus, love your playing mate 🤘
I would love to see Miles Away or 99 red Balloons.
When did Cyrus start playing with Goldfinger?
I use the same China . .
Yes, this is on the re-released game... but how many of you also get that gut punch feeling of being a kid playing to this shit on N64?
One upper
Enaks kieu rus...ruswandaaaaa
Cyrus looks like Fred Armisen's long, lost brother.
Figured you were the original drummer, you played this virtually note for note
That's a huge compliment. I thoroughly enjoy this song (and band), and have a blast playing this stuff.
kalau band punk kebanyakkannya drummer mainkan peranan terpenting, kalau drummer power, band tu ada 80% 'power'.
20% lagi perlu diisi oleh line up lain.
tapi kalau drummer cam punaka, ahaha memang xleh la nak jadi punk, jadi gampunk boleh la 😀
aku minat goldfinger ni start aku sekolah lagi zan main skinhead, sampai dah besar tu aku jadi punker , dan sekarang ni dah jadi *manusia* (manusia biasa) tapi still fan of goldfinger.. bukan gold digger ye, 😅
フジロックで見たいね♪
Are you Steve-O ?
Not last time I checked...
Are you a tour member of Goldfinger?
I was for that tour
@@CyrusBolooki Cool
ok but did anyone notice that guy dancing on stage?
jesus christ its so fast
That's nerves...and adrenaline...and the fact that John Feldmann asked me to play it faster than the record (which I agree with and do that with all the songs I play on stage).
lmao Cyrus instead of playing a ska-beat just slams on that ride like a punk beat but just quiet in the mix especially next to the snare hits.
I've never claimed to be a ska drummer. Definitely a punk drummer, and luckily Goldfinger is a band that for most of their live sets just likes it loud!
That is not Guy Fieri's band!
They literally STOLE the melody from "Alfie from the Bronx" of The Toy Dolls!
Wow his timing is soooo rushed
Can't help it, I'm excited! And there's no click track to keep me on time. Plus, I was given specific instructions by John Feldmann to "do what punk rockers do and play it a little faster live." Maybe I took those words a little too far...
I mean trying to beat a drummer in calories used up is pretty funny 😂
Love Travis. But Cyrus did better with this song.
