All thrift stores in my area have lost their damn minds with pricing. It’s also so difficult to find vintage anything anymore. My husband, my daughter and I ❤ thrifting, but the prices and abundance of fast fashion have definitely reduced the amount we go sadly.
Love Lost Highway! Good find❤
“It was so expensive, even my cart was leaving” 🤣🤣. *I know how you feel cart, Melbourne Op-shop prices are getting ridiculous! SUPPOSED to be helping those of us in need… Just a tip: if you have old towels and blankets to donate, ANIMAL SHELTERS always need these! Sending big hugs to Atticus (hope he’s doing well)🐶❤️
I’ll be donating a bunch of old towels and blankets to the shelter we got Atticus from :)
and he’s doing sososo well omg he is our baby
@@vexthrifts You guys are the best! xo
Keep on RANTING! I am a supervisor of a non-profit thrift store, and my manager and I fight tooth and nail to keep things genuinely thrifty for the exact reason you're stating. We have to fight against our own volunteers and board of directors sometimes because some of them *do not get it.* You want to know the crazy thing though? We are making record profits for our organization now because our business model focuses on moving items quickly. Yes, resellers get their share, but we try our best to spread the love.
thank you for genuinely doing your community a service it’s so ridiculous that this even has to be fought for when these organisations are meant to be charitable in the first place. almost every country is suffering a cost of living crisis and real estate agents, grocery stores, banks and stores like savers are all making record profits while we struggle to pay rent and eat it’s so disgusting
the scream i would've scrumpt finding that blink 182 cd!!! the thrift stores near me never have any good or even modern music on their cds, i'd kill to own that 😭
Sad the prices are increasing, here in Austin, TX thrift stores are ridiculously priced too high. Honestly cheaper to buy new clothes when they are on sale.
I live in Canada and not only are the prices getting ridiculously high, but the racks are stuffed with crappy fast fashion garbage clothes. It is so hard to find anything that is good quality anymore. I understand your frustration!! Cheers!!
I’m so early!! 🖤♥️ lol I was literally going through your channel and rewatching some of your older vids!! Perfect timing ✨
fellow melbournian here: yo savers has always been extortion. i went there once from ur recc and then was like wow they really skyrokcet the $ here. local salvos stores or literally any second hand / op shop will price clothes so much better. literally days ago got a purple kathmandu fleece for $6 in knox westfield
Savers/Value village is crazy expensive here in Canada. You should read up on the original family and owners. They arent necessarily charitable all the time. They held back donations at one point to epilepsy 350,000 dollars. Its was taken to court and settled through that.
I dont support value village ,savers or salvation army( used to work there). I found a few other places that are run by small local organizations with items from 1 to 8.00.
Saviors here in the states have been crazy expensive for a very long time. I haven't shopped there in years.
I went to goodwill yesterday, I’ve lost a lot of weight and needed clothes for fall. I just looked at pants/trousers and found 7 pair including a genuine leather pair for a total of $42usd. I looked up a retail price on 5 of the pair and they retailed for $1000. I can’t complain!
You’re genuinely so funny I love your humour so much😭🖤
oh lol thank you I’m much funnier in real life I swear
You are so correct some thrift stores I don't shop anymore
Not the cart leaving hahahahah 😂
Not having resellers means their products will stay longer in the store, and eventualy they will need storage. Also more thrash will be left to undeveloped countries as less people would be able to shop for them. Resellers win money but they alocate unwanted stuff very quickly so that is good for the planet and many times for the thrifstore.
I agree ! I don’t believe in overconsumption of thrifted clothes and things because there is such an overwhelming amount of stuff at these stores and if nobody buys them they become landfill so I really don’t care if resellers buy up stuff and then it’s replaced immediately anyway (although sometimes reseller prices are insane but I just don’t buy them)
It’s bad here in California as well. I only go thrifting every once in a while and it’s a good day when I find three items lol
Head to Ballarat. We have shitloads of oppys!
I had that Metallica S&M CD in high school and it's fantastic!!! It's a symphony playing with Metallica. I agree the capitalist greed trickling down to thrift stores is tragic.
Here in California, the prices are crazy. I just go garage sales now.
as much as creators have made thrifting more popular, the issue is still that the company is greedy. SO MUCH clothes still goes to landfill like these places do not have a shortage of clothes. More people reusing clothes that already exist is a positive. I understand you personally wanting to thrift less because of how insidious they are being tho.
yes thank you !! I’ve been talking about this for over a year now and every time there’s always someone that wants to argue about resellers and creators being the problem but we can’t place blame on individuals when it’s literally up to the giant business to stay affordable
tell me why my local thrift store had a vintage bankers lamp for $25 (obviously snatched that up) but an ornate mirror that was missing pieces and broken was $150??
omg literally how do they decide on pricing that’s so stupid 😭😭
😂😂 they could've at least removed the $4 stickers. That's so stupid.
Basically people will go to sites like Shein as new clothes are so cheap compared to thrift stores.
I was at a savers a few weeks ago and literally heard a woman talking to her friend on the phone and she went ‘ugh I should’ve just ordered off shein’ like NOOOOOO WTF
I've seen shein in opshops priced higher than new on shein.
20 for shoes is like nearing normal shop prices when they’ve got a sale on. These are second hand pieces why arnt they lower…
yeah half of these pieces I could get from their original store on a sale day like 😭
15:47 Literally my dream top 😭
