Literally just started sourcing parts to do this job on my B8.5 RS5, thanks for the great, informative, video! Now if only I could source discs in South Africa...
I can ship discs to S. Africa. Just shoot me an email, redmistracingllc@icloud.com and I can get you a price quote on the JHM rotors shipped to your door.
great and informative video! however, I noticed you didn't show the sensors. did you install a bypass sensor? or reused the old sensor? I recently bought the same pads which came without any sensors, and im debating wether to just buying a bypass sensor (like ecs's) or install new ones the pads. but I don't know how to do that.
Mine are bypassed. If you have sensors, all you have to do is plug it in, cut off near the plug (on sensor side, not the OE harness!), twist the two wires together and shield them with electrical tape. Viola, bypassed sensors. I DO use the sensors in the front as I have carbon ceramic front brakes which are obviously costly to replace. I do sell next gen, more durable carbon ceramics for the RS5, R8, Huracan and Gallardo now. They cost less than the factory CCB's and you can convert an iron rotor-equipped car with the new rotors. No need to swap calipers. redmistracing.com/ols/categories/cfrc-brakes
Great video RS5 Fanatic :) I have a question. At the moment I made 70 000 km on my 2018 RS5 and would like to have an opinion if I should replace just the pads or pads and rotors at the same time? Tnx
Nikola, you'd need to measure the rotor thickness. Audi has a minimum thickness and if it's below that, you'll need to replace both the rotor and the pad.
Hi James, the rears may be in stock. Theres a National shortage of discs and most are made in the same few foundries so there are shortages across the board. At least with the JHM rotors, you can purchase just the ring when they wear out unlike ECS. I’ve given up on that company. Send me an email, sales@redmistracing.com

@@RS5Fanatic Have you had any experience on track with your carbon ceramics? Just wondering if its worthwhile to get an RS5 with them even though it seems like there aren't many of them. Or just settle for one without and upgrade to some jhm rotors and good pads.
@@rileyfolkman7469 I personally love the carbon ceramics on the street. Not so much on the track as they can wear quite rapidly, can't be refreshed and you're facing a massive bill to replace. But...I'm currently working on bringing a new type of ceramic rotor to the market which is track capable and can be refreshed twice. I'll have two fitments, one for the cars originally equipped with the carbon ceramics and one for cars that come with the iron brake system. Hello, I have a question As my car has the same engine as you’re one, I’ve always considered removing the cats, most likely by splicing the cat and inserting a large diameter stainless steel pipe and welding it where the cats are located, in this way keeping the original headers. Has you’re car ever run catless / or is it catless at the moment. It’s really loud so I was thinking you have maybe removed them. As before dropping the engine I wanted to have a rough idea of how loud the car will get. I’m mostly considering this for: a) Reducing heat in the engine bay b) Improved fuel economy c) Sound “only when the valves will be open” d) Maybe some hp gains, from the improved flow. Please can anyone share some real first hand experience advice. As i’m currently in 2 different minds depending on the day, on removing the cats and undergoing such a project.
Dan, I still have the cats on my vehicle. As you know, they're one piece with the headers and the engine needs to come out. If you do that, you'll need to weld on a proper collector not just a steel pipe as it won't mate up. JH Motorsports makes just such a header using the stock headers, cutting off the cat and welding on a properly designed collector. I'm a JHM dealer so I can arrange that for you but they need a set of headers to start with. So you'd either have to purchase a used set or take yours off, send them in and have them work their magic. I do have friends who are cat-less and it really depends on the exhaust but yes, it would be louder. With the JHM stage 2 tune, you see a pretty substantial gain in hp. With the stage 2 tune and headers, you'll likely see an additional 25hp or more bump. Contact me for info on the tune. redmistracingllc@icloud.com. Also, gas mileage won't necessarily increase. You're improving the efficiency of the pump but you're also allowing for more airflow overall. More air needs more gas and hence, your gas mileage will probably drop. Not to mention you'll be visiting redline more frequently! It will definitely lower EGT's and heat inside the engine bay.
I usually don't, only if it's a problem with your particular pad/rotor combination. They do make anti-squeal compound and I recommend that over something like a gear grease. I'm not getting any squeal with this combo so I'll leave it as-is. Some also come with anti-squeal shims pre-glued on the backing plates (the OE carbon ceramic front brake pads have these). I would keep all lube away from the guide springs as there's too much of a chance it'll migrate when heated up.
Great write up but i had to select module 53 for parking break to find the options for start lining. In your video you go to ABS which doesn’t have those options in basic settings

Hey Rs5 Fanatic! I have a question for you - you change yours here and have circular rotors - I have the 2014 model which has the cover rotors, can I switch them to circular, or do they have to be clover when I change them over? Wondering if you would know
Hey Jay! Either can be used. Most of the aftermarket companies don't offer the "petal" rotors and there's really no advantage to them on the rear as the disc is small and light. You'll get a bigger advantage going with something like the JHM rear rotors which have a two-piece design and are lighter due to the aluminum hat. I can get you a great price on the JHM rotors too! redmistracingllc@icloud.com
