One of the reasons I like Ike is because when you think about it... he's just a guy. He's not royalty, he's not rich, he's just a guy that trains. A lot.

@CrescentShadow if we are speaking with title yes, byleth is a teacher and later on the head of the foldlan (both a politically and religiously), if we take in consideration the "science" Byleth is the vessel of the goddess Sothis which is said to be the creator of the world and the son (sort of) of a Dragon, daughter of said goddess. Speaking of relevance byleth is one of the most powerful entity in fire emblem, both Corrin and Alear are some sort of deity dragon but they don't hold particular powers. Byleth can rewind time (techincally speaking Sothis rewinds time, but later on the game they merged so...)
Ike is a mercenary (and not a mute like byleth) so he has to be quick and to the point with his clients, he isn't bogged down by all this etiquette like all other Lords

Byleth has a lot of weird circumstances surrounding them but largely acts fairly standard. People comment on their blankness for plot reasons but ngl a lot of people are just quieter or neutral and it’s not a big deal irl so yeah I’d say theyd be more normal

This makes me wish we somehow actually got interactions between the Emblem characters; can only imagine Ike and Byleth would have the world's most blunt conversation.
I love that in the Emblem fights, Ike just has a HUGE healthbar compared to every other Emblem, they really selling us on he's the toughest protag in the series
he and byleth are virtually the only ones that grew up on the battlefield. and ike has the added bonus of being thrown into a position of leadership during a time of extreme political turmoil given daein, begnion, crimea ans the laguz alliance. byleth could take it easy because Jerolt was there until they were an adult. Ike basically got kneecapped when his dad died, half the Greil Mercenaries left, and he had to defend Elincia from being assassinated

Ike and his 2 games, PoR and RD are my top 2 favorite games in the series, I remember most of the battles and the fact that there is about 50 ish man battles made the journey more epic with no side questing and no grinding.

Not enough people have played the Tellius games so they don't realize that while Ike is a serious character he's also the second funniest character from his games, only beaten by Volug.
I know it is in the thumbnail (a bit unfortunate as it is an amazing interaction and would have been better as a surprise). But 0:42-0:47 deserves some more credit. That is the most Ike thing I have heard him say, even surpassing "I fight for my friends."
Such a shame his games havent been officially ported for new players. Ive been replaying my old copies lately, two of my favourite childhood games, I bought them both at release, fire emblems peak in terms of characters, world and story telling for me by a country mile. Nintendo sucks that they won't give new players any other option to purchase the game legitimately now the franchise is more popular and people actually want to buy it.

Best Fire Emblem i've played, gamecube days, Path of Radiance, Tales of Symphonia, Resi Evil 4, Melee.... What a console! Also where I played Zelda TP. Edit: Sacred stones was really good too and Awakening had great moments chapter 10's music really set the tone and marked me.
Ike is 100% one of those characters you would want to be friends with IRL. Even if he might snark at you sometimes. I like how despite being a big, nice guy, he's not a himbo (and I say this as someone who likes himbos).
