Soren is surprisingly sweet to a couple different characters. He's rude to the ones who hit on him or offer unsolicited advice, neutrally polite to most others, and outright kind, in his way, to those who genuinely seem to need it. this includes the child characters, the princess who keeps getting torn down for her gender, and Alcryst, from what I've seen. like, let's be clear, he's never going to be the nurturing type, but what gentleness there is in him, he offers when it's appropriate. you just have to have your expectations appropriately calibrated in order to see it.
"You're not particularly painful." Coming from Soren, that's high praise. Also man, I wish I had gotten Ike earlier. I cleared Soren's trial without him, so I missed out on some of that dialogue.
It must be hard on Soren after growing up a loner orphan only to fight in multiple bloody race wars and saving the literal universe from the wrath of the goddesses only to hear these absolute dorks ask him for a cool line to shout when they kill someone.
And how he doesn't completely shut down Alcryst but still asserts his boundaries! Soren can see when your pain is real and when you're a real pain and adjusts accordingly.
it really makes me want to see the rest of their bond conversations because I am so curious if he brings up being Branded or claims its a spirit mark at some point.

PoR was my entrypoint to the series, i definitely recommend playing it. Soren immediately became my favorite character in the game and has since remained my favorite character in the franchise.
To give you an insight to Sorens character in the Tellius series: Basically he was abandoned and only had two people in his life who didn`t treat him like shit. One was a kindly scholar, who took him in and taught him magic, but died too early and the other one was Ike as a kid. It was due to Ike seeing him as a friend that he joined the Greil Mercenaries and found people to care about. But the mistreatment he got made him jaded and pessimistic, so he barely has the patience for other peoples nonsense.

I just saw the beginning of Engage in Mangs stream before i had to turn it of in cringe but - this has the be the most based character in the entire game.
Soren's interactions with the FE Engage characters made me realize more how annoying they are lol. The Emeblems (past FE characters) were always more appealing to me while playing.
